The Parents’ Watch of God

By day and night, the watch of God,
We keep, my boy, for thee —
The sentinels of loving prayers,
On guard continually.
At matin and at vesper hour,
Love’s watchword still is given,
And angels know the countersign,
By open gates of heaven.
