02- Jesus And God

1 min read · Chapter 3 of 20

JESUS AND GOD Our Lord Jesus Christ only asked God one question (recorded four times in the Bible in both English and Aramaic), and it concerns being forsaken by God and the cry and thirst for a sacred relationship with God. This question helps us to see, from the perspective of our Lord Jesus Christ, how losing a relationship with God is the greatest loss of all for humanity. His cry helps us to see the importance of having a relationship with God. As His followers we need to emulate Christ in making our relationship with God central to our existence. In each of the questions below, please specify who the question is speaking for (God / Satan/ self/ Others.) and ask why.

  • And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? (Matthew 27:46)

  • That is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (Matthew 27:46)

  • And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? (Mark 15:34)

  • Which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (Mark 15:34)
