141. During a Pestilence.
Ant. Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed.
We carry the sentence of death in ourselves, Tfy That we should not trust in ourselves, but in God, Which raiseth the dead.
ALMIGHTY GOD, from Whom is derived our life, both in nature and in grace;remove from us, we beseech Thee, if it be Thy good will, the disease which Thou hast seen fit to bring upon us, and grant that we may not forget those lessons which it was intended to teach, but humbling ourselves before Thee in lasting peni tence for those sins by which we have merited Thy wrath, may praise Thy Name for Thy mercy; through Jesus Christ. Amen.
