061. Few, The Faithful

61 THE FAITHFUL FEW Matthew 7:13-14;Revelation 3:4

INTRODUCTION It is difficult to be faithful; majority not faithful; only a few are always faithful.

Most people dislike being in the minority; only the srong will be able to cope.

I. OLD TESTAMENT EXAMPLES 1. Cain and Abel. (Hebrews 11:4) 2. Noah. (Genesis 6:8; Genesis 6:12.) 3. Abraham. (Genesis 12) 4. Sodom condemned because not a faithful few found. (Genesis 18:23-30.) 5. Children of Israel in wilderness; Caleb and Joshua; cross the Red Sea 6. Gideon’s army: 300 represents the faithful few a. Greater is he that is in you than he who is in the world II. NEW TESTAMENT EXAMPLES 1. Purpose of God ’s selecting the Jews; but few faithful. (Romans 3:10-18) 2. But few accepted him (John 1:11-12.) 3. Jesus’ trial; all forsook him, even Peter.

5. Sardis had a few who rema ined faithful. (Revelation 3:4.) 6. Only the few faithfu l will be rewarded . (Matthew 7:13-14; Revelation 2:10.) 7. It is said Je sus will come on first da y of week. Be faithful. Necessary to receive a crown.

III. GOD CHOSE ISRAEL WHEN BUT FEW (Deuteronomy 7:7) 1. The church -- a body of a faithful few. a. Church--spiritual house of Israel 2. Today, the church exists on the faithful few.

3. Will you be among the faithful few? a. Many are called, but few chosen.

4. Have you entered through the "narrow" gate? a. Broad is the gate which leads to destruction b. Narrow is the way that leadeth to life. Few there be that find it.’

5. Will your name be written among the FAITHFUL IN the Lamb’s Book of Life?
