HELL
INTRODUCTION This is not a pleasant subject.
It is well to tell the sick of a physician; the poor of riches; the dying of life; the lost of a Savior; and the impenitent of hell.
I. BIBLE NAMES FOR HELL 1. Torment. (Revelation 20:10.) 2. Eternal punishment. (Matthew 25:46.) 3. Lake of fire. (Revelation 20:14.) 4. Outer darkness . (Matthew 8:12.) II. THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH 1. God is immortal; our spirits are like him in nature and go back to him.
2. There is a resurrection ; this prove s a sur vival of life.
Ill. ORIGINAL PURPOSE OF HELL 1. Not prepared ori ginally for man.
2. Prepared for devil and his angels. (Matthew 25:41.) 3. When man join s Satan in his work. and lives in his service till dea th, he must suffer the destiny with the devil.
IV. HELL ETERNAL 1. Eternal punishment is eternal. (Matthew 25:46; Matthew 18:8;.Jude 1:7; Revelation 14:11; Revelation 19:3.) 2. "Eternal punishment" and "eternal life" the same in duration.
V. HELL NOT CONTRARY TO NATURE OF GOD 1. Laws needed for man’s government.
2. If Law is violated , punishment must be inflicted to maintain the authority of law given.
3. Sin is lawlessness. (1 John 3:4.) Vl. OBJECTION ANSWERED 1. Universal salvation, based on a misconception of God’ s goodness.
2. Annihilation-this contradicts the survival of the soul and resurrection.
3. Second chance of probation-this also a theory to avoid punishment.
