Service Book of the Orthodox Church, Part 1

English translation by Isabel F. Hapgood, from Service Book of the Holy Orthodox-Catholic Apostolic (Greco-Russian) Church , compiled, translated from the Old Church-Slavonic and collated with the Greek, by Isabel Florence Hapgood (New York: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1906); public domain. The text was read by machine (Mistral OCR) from a scan of the 1906 edition from the Cornell University Library at the Internet Archive and has not been proofread against the printed book. SermonIndex has removed running heads and page numbers, joined words split across lines, and divided the text into chapters and short sections; the wording is the translator’s own. Footnotes and the editor’s introduction are left out. Hapgood’s preface, the tables of the church year and of lessons, the errata and the index are also left out; the directions to the clergy, which the book prints in italics, appear here in square brackets, and the reference numbers that point to Appendix B are removed. No modern English version has been made. Licence. The translation was published in 1906 and is in the public domain. Licence: Public domain.
