00.3. INTRODUCTION

1 min read · Chapter 3 of 15

INTRODUCTION The study of prophesying involves a commitment of the mind to acquire the ability to exercise prophecy rightly. Prophecy (or prophesying) is a solemn public utterance by the prophet, related to the worship of God and the salvation of our neighbours, as the following passages indicate: ’But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men’ (1 Corinthians 14:3). ’But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all’ (1 Corinthians 14:24). ’For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son’ (Romans 1:9).
