Psalms 139-141

Psalm 139 (2 of 2)
1 LORD, when I count Thy mercies o'er, They strike me with surprise; Not all the sands that spread the shore To equal numbers rise.
2 My flesh with fear and wonder stands, The product of Thy skill; And hourly blessings from Thy hands Thy thoughts of love reveal.
3 These on my heart by night I keep; How kind, how dear to me! Oh may the hour that ends my sleep Still find my thoughts with Thee! Isaac Watts, 1719.

1 THE Christian, like his Lord of old, Must look for foes and trials here: Yet may the weakest saint be bold, With such a friend as Jesus near.
2 The lion's roar need not alarm, O Lord, the feeblest of Thy sheep; The serpent's venom cannot harm, While Thou art nigh to watch and keep.
3 Before, when dangers round me spread, I cried to Thee, Almighty Friend; Thou coveredst my defenceless head; And shall I not on Thee depend?
4 O refuge of the poor and weak, Regard Thy suffering people's cry; Humble the proud, uphold the meek, And bring us safe to Thee on high, Henry Francis Lyte, 1834.

1 LORD, I daily call on Thee, Hear my voice and answer me; Save me, for in faith I pray, Take, oh take my sins away.
2 Let my prayer as incense rise, Pure accepted sacrifice; Let my life with virtue shine, Fill my soul with love divine.
3 Keep, oh keep my lips and heart, Let me ne'er from Thee depart; Holy, happy, may I be Perfect, O my God, like Thee. John Beaumont, 1834.
