374 Come, Ye Disconsolate. 11s. & 10s.

1 min read · Chapter 372 of 547
Consolation Offered. (868)

Come, ye disconsolate, where'er ye languish;
Come to the mercy-seat, fervently kneel;
Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish; Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal!

2 Joy of the desolate, light of the straying,
Hope when all others die, fadeless and pure --
Here speaks the Comforter, in God's name saying,
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot cure.

3 Here see the bread of life; see waters flowing
Forth from the throne of God, boundless in love;
Come to the feast prepared, come, ever knowing
Earth has no sorrow but heaven can remove.

Vs.1, 2, by Thomas Moore, 1816.
Vs.3 by Thos. Hastings.
