2. Skeptics who are triflers For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.

1Co 1:18 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them.

2Co 4:3-4

He said therefore again unto them, I go away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin: whither I go, ye cannot come. . . . I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for except ye believe that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

John 8:21; John 8:24 and to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power in flaming fire, rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus:
