We believe the two tribes and a half stopped short of the true inheritance of the people of God; and though where there was personal energy, the effects of their so stopping short did not appear, yet we know they were the first to fall into the hands of the enemy. No doubt this has a voice for us; "for whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning." We are ever prone to stop short of our true position and portion, to remain at this side of Jordan, to take our place amid the gifts of God’s hand, rather than with Himself in the proper heavenly inheritance of His people. Oh, for a higher range, a closer walk, a more profound and intimate communion!
