SECOND THURSDAY OF ADVENT Read Matthew 1:16-17

...and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.

Take a moment to observe the beauty of the crafted, master planned work of God as recorded in the first 17 verses of this chapter. King James has a tendency to lose us in all the "begats" but they are included for a reason.

The generations all experienced hardships, certainly times when to throw in the towel seemed better than life itself. But God had a plan.

He still does. Advent reminds us that the plan continues and includes each of us to a full measure according to God’s will.
