THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT Read Matthew 1:24-25 He did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him.

Without obedience, there would have been a very different ending to the story of Christmas. Joseph did what he was told. Plenty of room for question, but instead, he simply offered obedience. No wonder God selected Joseph to be the earthly role model for a father to Jesus. What a tender heart he must have had.

If obedience replaced pride, fear, and laziness, God could change our entire world. What could be the effect of total obedience in your world, your sphere of influence? Would apologies be said? Would stewardship increase? Would your neighbor or coworker be won to the Lord?

Ask God for the grace you need to be obedient even under difficult circumstances. Make a list of the things that His Spirit brings to your attention, then get busy practicing obedience.
