2 Chronicles 4:1

4:1-22 The two chief metals used in the temple were bronze and gold. Chapter 4 briefly lists some of the furnishings made from these metals. Bronze was used for the altar of burnt offering, the Sea and supporting oxen (vv. 2-5, 10), ten lavers or portable basins (v. 6), overlay for the doors of the court (v. 9), various utensils (vv. 11, 14-18), and the two pillars and capitals (vv. 12, 13). These were all cast in clay molds between Succoth and Zeredah (v. 17). Solomon used gold for ten lampstands for the holy place (vv. 7, 20), ten tables for the showbread (8, 19) a golden altar (v. 19), various utensils (vv. 8, 21, 22), and overlay for the holy place and Holy of Holies (v. 22). Gold was used primarily for items inside the temple while the bronze furnishings were mainly employed outside. All the furnishings for the temple were made by Solomon except the ark of the covenant. That was brought from the tabernacle.
