Ecc. 8:1. “Who is a wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing?” The word translated ’thing’ is dabher, which previously signifies ‘word’. The meaning seems to be - Who is a wise man? A man who has a right understanding of the Word of God.

Ecclesiastes 8:2-5

Ecc. 8:2-5 Ecc. 8:2-5. There is a remarkable agreement between what is said in these verses and that which is said by the Apostle in Romans 13:1-5. Here verse 2 agrees with Romans 13:5; verses 3 and 4 agree with Romans 13:2 and latter part of verse 4; and here the former part of verse 5 agrees with Rom. 13 and the former part of verse 4.
