Matthew 6
EdwardsMatthew 6:10-11
Mat. 6:10, 11. “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.” The order of these petitions is agreeable to the direction given in verse Matthew 6:33, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” So here Christ directs, first, to pray for ’the kingdom of God,’ and then to pray for other things.
Mat. 6:13
Matthew 6:13
Mat. 6:13. “And lead us not into temptation.” This includes trials brought upon us by God’s providential hands, as well as the temptation of lust. God often leads his children into these, and always for their good; but yet we are to pray against it, with submission to God’s will, because, simply considered, it is an evil.
Mat. 8:21
