Luke 21:1

Verse 1

Gifts; the object of this contribution, it is supposed, was to sustain the expenses of the religious services of the temple.

Luke 21:3

Verse 3

Cast in more than they all; has made a greater effort and sacrifice. The poor, however, as well as the rich, are bound to exercise prudence and sound discretion in making religious or charitable contributions.

Luke 21:6

Verse 6

Not one stone upon another; a phrase simply indicating complete and utter destruction.

Verse 13

That is, it was to be in that way that the disciples were to give their testimony to the gospel.

Luke 21:18

Verse 18

Nothing really valuable to them should be lost or destroyed; but, amidst all these trials and dangers, their ultimate welfare and happiness were perfectly secure.

Verse 37

At night he went out, &c.; for safety; to avoid the conspiracies which might be formed against his life.
