3 the spirit of God. This expression sometimes denotes any extraordinary endowment, without necessarily implying personal piety. See ver. 6; 1 Sam. x. 6, 10; and ep. James i. 17.

10 cloths of service. Rather, “garments of office.” Some render “finely wrought garments” (R.V.).

13. My Sabbaths ye shall keep. The observance of the Sabbath is here strongly enjoined on the Israelites as a perpetual “sign” that they were “sanctified,” or separated from all other people, to serve the true God, the Creator of all things (ver. 17).
