Ezekiel 10

2. He spake. That is, He that sat on the throne, the man clothed with linen. The same messenger who lately acted as the minister of God’s mercy to His servants being now employed to execute His vengeance upon His enemies.

scatter them over the city. The inhabitants being slain, the city is to be burned.

5 was heard. As they began to move.

13. O wheel. Rather, “A whirling”: probably a command to move rapidly, which is obeyed in ver. 19.

19 and [every one] stood. Rather, as R.V., “and they stood”: the cherubim halting, as if in suspense, whether God would leave the city: see xi. 22.

20. I knew that they were the cherubim. “In this departure the seer recognises for the first time the full meaning of the vision which he had seen on the banks of the Chebar” (Dr. G. Currey in Speaker’s Commentary).
