2 and leave but the sixth part of thee. Rather, “and I will lead thee on” (R.V.).

6 that dwell carelessly in the isles. Rather, “that dwell securely in the coastlands.”

9 they shall burn them with fire seven years. “They shall make fires of them seven years” (R.V.). “Seven,” the number of completeness.

11 the valley of them that pass through. Rather, “the valley of Abarim,” east of the Dead Sea.

14. And they shall sever out men of continual employment. Or, “And they shall set apart regular men, passing through the land, burying the stragglers that are left over the face of the land, to purify it. After the end of seven months they shall search, and the passers through shall pass through the land; and when one seeth a man’s bone, then he setteth up a signal by it,” etc. Thus every remnant of the dead bodies would be swept away from the face of the land.

16. And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Or, “And also the name of a neighbouring city shall be Hamonah” (“multitude”).

17. Speak unto every feathered fowl, etc. Cp. Rev. xix. 17, 18.

20 chariots. Rather, “horsemen,” as in Isa. xxi. 7.

26 they have borne their shame. Rather, “they shall forget their shame.” Their restoration shall be complete.
