Leviticus 12

1. The Lord spake. These various purifications, restrictions, and sacrifices were, no doubt, of physical value. Further, they remind us that all the processes of our life are subject to the control of God, and are more or less affected by conditions of our fallen nature.

8 if she be not able. As the mother of Jesus was able to bring only this offering (Luke ii. 24), she was evidently of the poorer class.
