Micah 3

1. Judgement. “Justice.”

3. Who also eat the flesh of My people, etc. A figurative expression for oppression.

5 that bite with their teeth, etc. These men predicted “peace” to those who pampered them, but became enemies of those who refused to do so.

7 cover their lips. A sign of mourning.

10. They build up Zion with blood, etc. See Jer. xxii. 13; vi. 13; viii. 10, where the same charges are brought against the leaders of a later period.

11 yet will they lean upon the Lord, etc. They were so insensible of their sinfulness that they still expected His protection.

12 plowed as a field, etc. From Jer. xxvi. 17-19 we learn that this prophecy was delivered in the days of Hezekiah, that the king and people, so far from resenting the prophet’s indignant words, received them in the spirit of penitence and prayer, and that “the Lord repented Him of the evil which He had pronounced upon them.”
