Zechariah 10

1 the latter rain. See Deut. xi. 14; Joel ii. 23.

2 the idols. Heb., “the teraphim” (so R.V.): see note on Gen. xxxi. 19.

went their way. Rather, “went astray.”

3 the goats. The leaders or “chief ones,” as in Isa. xiv. 9.

as His goodly horse. That is, bold and powerful.

4. Out of him. That is, out of Judah: cp. Jer. xxx. 21.

the corner. i.e., “the corner stone,” R.V.; the chief support.

every oppressor. Rather, “every ruler” (Isa. lx. 17).

5 on horses. In which their foes trusted (Psa. xx. 7).

8. I will hiss for them. See note on Isa. v. 26.

as they have increased. As in their most prosperous days (1 Kings iv. 20).

9. I will sow them, etc. “Though I scatter them among the peoples, yet they shall remember Me,” etc. If I have to chastise, I will yet cause them to repent.

11. He shall pass through the sea with affliction. Or, “He shall pass through the sea of affliction” (R.V.).

the River. That is, the Nile.
