4 this young man. The measurer.

towns without walls. “Unwalled villages,” as Ezek. xxxviii. 11, not needing outward defences.

5 a wall of fire. Within which she shall be perfectly secure: cp. Psa. lxxxiv. 11.

7. O Zion. That is, O ye that belong to Zion.

8. After the glory. Probably meaning, after (i.e., in addition to) the glory promised (see ver. 5).

toucheth the apple of His eye. Cp. Deut. xxxii. 10.

12 shall inherit. Shall take as His own possession.

13. Be silent, etc. Cp. Hab. ii. 20.
