1 Corinthians 2
JonCourson1 Corinthians 2:1
Paul came to Corinth following what I consider to be a disastrous session in Athens. In Acts 17, we see him going to Mars Hill in the city of Athensthe place where the intelligentsia of the day dialogued with one another in the city known for an on-going stream of philosophical interaction. Referring to the one thousand altars throughout Athens dedicated to various deities, Paul opened his message, saying, “The unknown god to whom you have dedicated an altar is the God of whom I want to speak.” And as he delivered a dissertation to the Athenians explaining the true and living God, Paul quoted from their poets, discussed their philosophy, and alluded to their culture. But the success of his sermon was very minimal. Most of those who heard him mocked him. Others said, “Come back later, and we’ll hear more.” Only a handful believed. Why? I suggest that a careful reading of Acts 17 shows he never mentioned Jesus Christ crucified. Although he alluded to the Resurrection, he never stated straightforwardly and with simplicity that Jesus had died for their sins and had risen from the dead. Instead, he tried to be philosophical. He tried to be professional. He tried to be relatable. As a result, no church was established in Athens. So at the next stopCorinthPaul changed his mode of operation radically. He forsook flowery speech and talked about Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Many responded and a church was founded. Oh, it’s true that the church at Corinth would have problems and need correctionbut the fact remains that a great church was started when, in contrast to what he did at Athens, Paul simply preached Jesus and the Cross. Nothing But the Cross A Topical Study of 1Co_2:2 “You have not chosen Me,” Jesus said, “but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go forth and bear much fruit” (see Joh_15:16). That makes you an ordained minister every bit as much as I am. Following are eighteen questions you, as a minister, have been or will be asked. I suggest that the answer to each of them is the same. If you try to be philosophical or psychological, clever or creative, you’ll get tripped up. But, if like Paul, you determine to talk about nothing but Jesus Christ and Him crucified, you’ll do well. How Do I Know God Loves Me? But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.Rom_5:8 If someone doubts God’s love, should he reexamine his childhood hurts to determine if he was rejected by his father and therefore unable to receive God’s love? No. The answer is much simpler. When someone says, “I’m not sure God loves me,” say, “God proved His love for you in that while you were sinning, rebelling, and couldn’t care less about knowing Him, He became a Man, was pinned to a Cross, and died for you specifically. He proved His love for you not when you were going to church, trying hard, being goodbut when you were terrible. So don’t you know that now that you’re starting to get it together a bit, now that you want to be washed by the water of the Word, now that you’re wanting to know Him, He loves you all the more?” The water and blood that flowed when a spear was thrust into Jesus’ side as He hung on the Cross was indicative of a broken heart. Thus, He cares about you so dearly and loves you so deeply that even when you were sinning and rebelling, His heart burst for you. How Do I Know God Will Provide for Me? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?Rom_8:32 Years ago, my son Peter-John’s grandpa gave him a Datsun pickup truck. If Peter-John had discovered that the jack handle was missing, he would have said, “Thanks so much for the truck. It’s perfect. But the jack handle isn’t there.” The question is, would his grandpa have said, “I can’t believe this. I’ve given you the truck. I’ve given you the jack. But now you want the jack handle, too? You’re asking too much!”? Of course not! If Peter-John’s grandpa gave him the truck and the jack, giving him the jack handle would have been no problem. That’s what Paul is saying. If God gave us His Sonthe greatest gift He could have given to you and methen surely He won’t withhold any good thing we ask of Him (Psa_84:11). According to the Old Testament sacrificial system, each of our sins must be atoned for individually. Therefore, the suffering of Jesus far transcends what took place one Friday afternoon. That is why when we see Him, we shall see Him as a Lamb having just been slain (Rev_5:6). If He loved you that much, don’t you know He’s going to help you with the electric bill, the doctor bill, the grocery bill? Those things are mere jack handles in comparison to what He already gave us when He gave us His Son. Why Aren’t Things Working Out for Me? Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.Mat_20:20 Jesus must have chuckled when He saw the worship she was lavishing upon Him, knowing that she was coming not only to worship Him but also to get something from Him. “What do you want?” He asked her. “Well, since You’re asking,” Salome answered, “when You come into Your kingdom, could my two boys be on Your right hand and on Your left?” “You don’t know what you’re asking,” Jesus replied. “Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink, and to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” No doubt Salome went her way, confused by Jesus’ cryptic answer. But a few days later, when she saw Jesus flanked on the Cross by a thief on His left and on His right, her request must have thundered in her memory. Take those who wonder why things aren’t working for them to the Cross. Remind them what happened to Salome when she gave advice to the Lord concerning what He should do. Let them see that the decisions the Lord makes ultimately prove to be the right ones. How Do I Know God Will Forgive Me? But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs…Joh_19:33 The greatest three words ever spoken in history are not, “It’s a boy,” or, “Hot and sunny,” or even, “I love you,” but, “It is finished.” On the Cross of Calvary, all sin was paid for completely. So what do we do with people who feel guilty? We take Communion with them and remind them that there is no limitation to the blood of Jesus. “Where sin abounds, grace abounds yet more,” declared Paul (Rom_5:20). That is why, when Jesus was nailed to the Cross as the Lamb who came to take away the sin of the world, not a bone of His was broken. In addition to fulfilling prophecy regarding the Passover lamb of Exodus 12, this speaks of forgiveness. You see, because blood is produced in the marrow of the bone, the fact that not a bone of Jesus was broken tells us the supply of blood to wash away sin is endless. No matter how much sin you might have been caught up in, no matter how heavy it was or how recent it has been, because of Calvary, there is no limit to the forgiveness available to you. How Do I Overcome Addiction? Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.Rom_6:6 In the early Colonial days and into the 1800s, East Coast fisherman found their nets filled with starfish that were a nuisance to them. They took out their frustration by hacking the starfish up and throwing them back into the oceanlittle knowing that each piece would grow into a new starfish. Such is the case with addictions. “I’m going to do this,” we declare. “I’m going to hack this up. I’m going to resolve the other.” In reality, however, the more we try to deal directly with any given sin, the more we become obsessed by that sin. So what is the solution? Not a twelve-step program, but a one-step program: the Cross. When Jesus was crucified, not only did His blood cleanse us from our sin, but our old man, our old nature was crucified with Him. Mystically and miraculouslyyet very powerfully and practicallyour old sinful tendencies were crucified with Christ and destroyed. The original text says they were rendered katargao, or paralyzed. This means that, although our old sinful nature can still say to us, “You must give in. The craving is too strong,” it now has neither power nor authority. As decisively as Jael drove the spike through the temple of Sisera (Jdg_4:21), we can pound the stake of the Cross through the temple of our sinful nature with the hammer of the Word (Jer_23:29). In so doing, we silence every fleshly taunt and each sinful suggestion the Enemy whispers to us. How Do I Overcome Depression? And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.Luk_9:23 The key to overcoming depression is not to pop pills, but to carry the Cross. What is the Cross? Some people say it refers to the allergies they suffer, or to the husband who left them. As hard as those situations might be, they do not fall under the biblical definition of the Cross. The Cross is not something we don’t want, don’t like, or can’t understand. The Cross is something we bear willingly to help someone else redemptively. The Cross is something by which we die to our wishes, our pleasure, our time schedule in order that we might lay down our lives for others. If we try to protect our life, we lose it. When we let go of our life, we find it (Luk_9:24). Those who take up the Cross by saying, “Who can I help today? With whom can I pray or share? What can I do to get my eyes off myself and die to my situation?” live lives free of depression. How Do I Overcome Bitterness? And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet…Exo_15:25 As the sun beat down on the people of Israel, their mouths were dry, their lips were parched, their skin was peeling. They hadn’t had water for three days when someone cried out, “Water ahead!” Three million thirsty people ran for the pool and drank deeplyonly to spit it out immediately, for the water was poisonous. “What have you done?” they cried to Moses. “You’ve lead us to a pool we thought would be refreshing, but instead it’s bitter.” And they called the name of that place “Marah,” or “Bitter.” So what did Moses do? He called upon the Lord, and the Lord showed him a book on psychology. No. He called upon the Lord, and the Lord told the people to sit down before an empty chair and talk to those toward whom they were bitter. No. He called upon the Lord, and the Lord told the people to write a letter and express their anger. No. Those are all man’s methods. Endless counseling sessions, playacting, and talking to empty chairs are fine for the world, for they know no other way. But what does the Bible say? Moses called to the Lord, and Scripture says the Lord showed him a treea tree that had been there all alongand said, “Cast it into the water.” When Moses did, the water became sweet. So, too, when you feel bitter toward the boyfriend who dumped you, the wife who left you, the boss who fired you, or the business partner who cheated you, the solution is the tree of Calvary. “Look to the Cross,” Jesus says. “I died for the very sin about which you’re so upset. Are you saying that My atonement is insufficient, that My blood is not enough?” It’s impossible to be bitter if you see the Cross, if you understand the price that was paid for the very sin that bothers you so much. How Can I Love People? After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.Mar_8:25 When Jesus touched the eyes of the blind man at Bethsaida, the man opened his eyes and saw Jesus. But when he looked around, he said, “I see men, but they’re like trees walking.” That’s what happened when Jesus encountered each of us who were born, blinded by sin. He touched us and we saw Him. We were converted, born again. But then what happens? Oftentimes, although I see Jesus clearly, the people around look like trees to me. They “stump” me. I want to “cut them down.” I want them to “leave.” So I subtly start cutting them down through humor, gossip, or innuendo. What’s the solution? The solution is to do what Jesus did to the blind man. It’s to lift my eyes higher. It’s to look to the Crossfor it is in the light of Calvary that I will see people clearly. How Can I Have a Better Marriage? Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it…Eph_5:25 (a) The key to a good marriage is not seminars. The key is Calvary. It’s dying, husband, to your dreams, your desires, your wishesand instead taking into consideration your wife’s welfare and well-being. The woman being the glory, or literally the “outshining” of the man, means that she is the reflection of her husband (1Co_11:7). Therefore, if you’re having a hard time with your wife, husband, the problem is yours. Give yourself totally, wholeheartedly, and sacrificially to your wife as Christ didand watch what happens in your marriage. Serve your wife for a week or a month redemptively, and watch what takes place in your own heart. How Can I Be a Better Parent? When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.Joh_19:26-27 The one instance we see family bonding take place in Scripture wasn’t in a therapist’s office. It was at the foot of the Cross, where Jesus said of John to His mother, “Behold thy son,” and where Jesus said to John of Mary, “Behold thy mother.” And from that point on, John adopted Mary as his mother, caring for her until she died. Mom, Dad, foster parent, step parent, grandparenthow long has it been since you had Communion with your kids or grandchildren, since you knelt beside them with the Lord’s blood and body in hand? More impacting than any vacation, more important than any talk session will be the times you gather your kids around Calvary. There, a bonding and binding will take place unlike any other the world can even begin to offer. How Can I Motivate People to Discipleship? And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.Mat_27:32 Crowds mocked and taunted Jesus as He made His way through the city. But because of the beating He had already endured and the loss of blood He had already experienced, His body collapsed under the weight of the Cross beam He carried. At that point, a Roman soldier tapped the shoulder of an African man who had come to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover. Feeling the cold steel of the spear upon his shoulder, Simon no doubt thought, Oh no. I came here for a vacation. I came here to celebrate Passover. Now I’m going to carry the cross for a criminalwith all of these people jeering and shouting? I don’t want to get involved in this. I’m just a tourist. But he had no choice. So Simon stepped out, took up the Cross, and carried it to Calvary. But here’s the interesting thing: He who no doubt was reluctant to carry the Cross not only became a believer, but the father of two prominent figures in the structure of the early church (Mar_15:21). This tells me that a person who sees the Cross and carries the Cross will become a disciple of Jesus Christ. There’s no other option. Once a thirteen-year-old, an eighteen-year-old, or a forty-two-year-old carries the Cross, he, too, will become a disciple. It’s inevitable. Therefore, it’s our responsibility to tell people, to share with people, to keep pointing people to the Cross, saying, “Look what Jesus did on your behalf.” No one would have thought of Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea as radical disciples. But something happened to Nicodemusthe one who came to Jesus by night because he didn’t want to be openly associated with Him. Something happened to Joseph of Arimathea, who was probably a member of the Sanhedrin: When they saw Jesus crucified on the Cross, their hearts were changed radicallyso much so that, following His crucifixion, they boldly went to Pontius Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus (Joh_19:38-39). This meant they would be ceremonially defiled for Passover. It meant Joseph would lose his standing in the Sanhedrin. It meant Nicodemus would no longer be the master teacher of Israel. But they didn’t care. They gave it all up. Why? Because when these fringe disciples, these secret followers, saw the Cross, they had no choice but to become radical in their service for Jesus. Between two thieves was an appropriate place for Jesus to be crucified. He is, after all, the ultimate thief. He’ll steal the heart of anyone who understands what He did on the Cross of Calvary. How Can I Encourage People to Continue in Discipleship? Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offering; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.Exo_30:9 It was an amazing scene when, following the completion of the tabernacle, the glory of the Lord descended in a bolt of fire from heaven, when the sacrifice on the newly erected altar was consumed in flame, when the people shouted for joy and bowed down in a holy hush. “We want to be part of the action,” said Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu. So they lit their censers and began to burn incenseuntil a second fire bolt came down from heaven and struck them dead. Why were Nadab and Abihu killed? Because the fire the priests were to use was to come only from the altarwhich was a picture of the Cross of Calvary, where Jesus would become the burnt Offering, the sacrificial Lamb for you and me. Like Nadab and Abihu, 80 percent of those in ministry today claim to be affected by “burnout.” This ought not be. If I am feeling burned out in serving the Lord, in ministering to the Lord, or in ministering for the Lord, it is because I have lost the vision of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Whether they’re discipling adults or teaching Sunday school, whether they’re pastoring, evangelizing, or leading worship, those who say, “I want to be a part of what’s happening there, or I want to be involved in this because it sounds like a hot place to be or a good thing to do,” will burn out when people don’t appreciate them in the way they had hoped, when those who once applauded them begin to find fault with them, when people they share the gospel with turn away. The only legitimate reason for serving, the only way to continue on without burning out is to be fired up from the altar, to be ignited by the Cross. Trying to be part of a “happening scene” or trying to reach lost people, trying to make others feel better or trying to find personal fulfillment just won’t work because all of that is “strange fire” (Lev_10:1). There is only one source of ministry, and that is the Cross of Calvary. How Can I Be Effective in Evangelism? And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.Joh_12:32 As I spoke to three hundred junior-highers at a retreat, one of the boys let out a burp, which, of course, caused the rest of the kids to start giggling. My realization that I didn’t have a chance to regain their attention was confirmed when a bat flew in and began to swoop around the kids’ heads, causing every girl in attendance to scream. After the big burp and the flying bat, I knew I was in trouble! But it was at that point that the Lord whispered in my heart, “Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” So at that moment, once the bat had lodged in the rafters, I changed subjects and segued into talking about the Cross of Christ, the sufferings of Jesus, the price He paid for the sins of everyone in that room. And as I did, the kids dialed in so closely that I can remember to this day the fifty-five kids who responded to the invitation to receive Christ. They came forward not because I was clever or relatable, not because I was socially relevant or culturally correct. They came forward because I preached Jesus Christ. He always draws people to Himself. “If I am lifted up on the Cross, I will draw all men,” Jesus declaredbe they junior-highers or senior citizens. Regardless of how old a person is, how young he is, from what culture he comes, or where he lives geographically, he doesn’t need to be an expert in culture or generational understandings to share the gospel. He simply needs to do one thing. He simply needs to point to Jesus Christ and the Cross, for that is the key to evangelism. How Can We Find Unity? There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.Eph_4:4-6 Whether within one given fellowship or between fellowships, unity is found only at the foot of the Cross. True and lasting unity is never found in eschatological agreement, in one’s position concerning speaking in tongues, or in dispensational agreement. Whether one is “high church"formal and liturgicalor “low church” like us; whether one is conservative and fundamental on the right, or more socially active on the left, the picture formed is that of the Cross. Thus, it’s no surprise that doctrinal differences dissipate when believers come together to celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Church unity is found at Calvary, so go there frequently. Hang out at the foot of the Cross, and you’ll find people coming together miraculously. How Can I Study the Bible Effectively? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.Mat_22:37-40 “Love God and love your neighbor,” Jesus said, “for on these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Then He showed us how this works as He hung on the Cross for our sins. Loving God, He prayed, “Father not My will but Thine be done” (see Luk_22:42). Loving man, He prayed, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do” (Luk_23:34). We are to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. We are also to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. If we do this, Jesus said we understand the Scripture in its entirety. If I’m loving God and loving people, I’ve got the whole message down. Look for Jesus Christ and Him crucified throughout the Word, and you will be a Bible student par excellence, for on Him hang all the law and the prophets. How Can I Be an Effective Leader? For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.Isa_9:6 What government did the Almighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace bear on His shoulder? The Cross. How should you govern or lead, teach or coach? You have one model: the Cross. The style of government upon Jesus’ shoulders was not seeking His own way or manipulating the situation, but rather dying to self to redeem others. How Can I Get People to Worship with More Intensity? And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation…Rev_5:9 How do we get folks to love the Lord and express their heart with a new song? I do not believe it comes through manipulation by worship leaders. Revelation 5 tells us it comes from beholding the slain Lamb of Calvary. The key to seeing a sister or brother, a church or denomination worship with intensity and sincerity is not to teach on worship or exhort to worship, but to let people see Jesus Christ and what He did for themfor then they will have no other recourse but to worship Him in spirit and truth. How Can I Get People to See the Seriousness of Sin? For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.Rom_6:23 We who have walked with the Lord for some time know that sin will find us out and do us in, but how do we help others who haven’t yet come to that understanding? Take them to the Cross and say, “Look and see what sin does. It was my sin that caused the humiliation, the pain, the bleeding, the broken heart, the spectacle. See what sin did to Jesus on the Cross. And it will do the same to you. Oh, you may chuckle or wink at it now, but sin will eventually break your heart and wipe you out.” The best way for people to learn to hate sin is to go to the Cross and see what their sin did to Jesus. Whether concerning ministry, theology, or problems practically, I hope you have begun to see that your message, like Paul’s, must be singular. You will give right answers and wise counsel; you will see deliverance and freedom and health if, like Paul, you keep your message profoundly simple, focused on Jesus Christ and the Cross of Calvary.
1 Corinthians 2:3
Paul maintained that, had the princes of this world understood the Cross and the Resurrection, they wouldn’t have crucified Christ. Does this mean that had Pontius Pilate or Herod, the Pharisees or the Sadducees, the scribes or the lawyers known who Jesus was, they wouldn’t have gone through with their plan to destroy Him? No, for many of them did know who He was. After all, they saw the miracles; they heard the Word. They understood that He was innocent and that they were involved in treachery. They didn’t really believe He was a threat to that which was good and righteousbut only to their own little empire, their own power structure. Who are the princes to whom Paul refers? Because Jesus referred to Satan as the prince of this world (Joh_12:31), and because Paul would say that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities of spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph_6:12), I believe the princes of the world refer to Satan and his demons. I believe Paul is saying that had Satan and his demons known what would happen when Jesus was crucified, they wouldn’t have gone that route. Why? They thought that by crucifying Christ, they would get rid of Him. Therefore, what a shock it must have been when they realized it was His plan all along to pay for man’s sins and break the power of sin. I camp here for a moment to remind you that Satan’s plans always backfire. “We’ll kill Him,” Satan hissed. “We’ll crucify Him,” his demons echoedonly to find out that there was now salvation for people who could never have been saved otherwise, that the doors of heaven were now open to sinners like me. “We’ll stop the Second Coming of Christ,” they said. “We’ll inspire a German wallpaper hanger to go crazy, rally an entire nation around him, and destroy the Jews in totality"which he would have done had World War II lasted another six months. But even this plan backfired because Hitler’s madness created such sympathy in the world community for the Jews that they were given their own country. “We’ll kill babies one by one,” Satan and his demons declare as hundreds of thousands of babies are slaughtered through abortion. But even this plan is backfiring because Scripture tells us clearly that those who die before the age of accountabilitybefore they can mentally make a decision concerning their own destinyare taken up into heaven (2Sa_12:23; 1Co_7:14). Thus, multiplied thousands of children who statistically would not have opened their heart to Jesus are being short-circuited into heaven to live eternally. Am I suggesting we should be pro-abortion? Of course not! I am saying that although Satan is a murderer and a destroyer, that although he never has a good day, that although he never says, “I’ll back off and be nice"his plans ultimately blow up in his face, and that God’s purposeswhether in your life personally or throughout historycome to pass perfectly.
1 Corinthians 2:9
In addition to this being a reference to heaven, I believe Paul is saying even this side of heaven, we as believers see things others don’t and know things others can’t because the Spirit reveals to us the big picture eternally. Who knows what God is doing? Only the Spirit of Godthe same Spirit given to us (Joh_14:16). The Spirit of God reveals to His people that which human eyes can’t see, that which human ears don’t hear.
1 Corinthians 2:12
We see things others don’t. We hear things others can’t because the Holy Spirit ministers to our spirits concerning spiritual truth. As a result, we look at the world around us entirely differently. For example, the spiritual man says, “No matter what the forecasters are predicting economically, the Scriptures tell me God shall supply all my need, according to His riches” (see Php_4:19). So, too, when the news anchors tell us the Middle East is heating up and that conflict is about to erupt once more, I already know what the political pundits can only guess atthat the armies of the world will indeed converge upon the Middle East and that there will be a battle ultimately.
1 Corinthians 2:14
The natural man goes to Food 4 Less and buys all-natural salad dressing and naturally grown tomatoes. When a lady pushes her way in front of him in the checkout line, it’s only natural that he gets upset. After ringing up his groceries, the checker accidentally gives him too much change. He keeps it, naturally. Then he comes home and does what comes naturally: He eats, drinks, and is somewhat merryuntil the emptiness in his soul drives him to look for something else. So he comes to a Bible study. He hears the Word being taught, the Scriptures being discussed, but they are foolishness to him because, as a natural man, he is spiritually blind. The idea that man is a free moral agent is somewhat of a misconception. Paul told Timothy that men are taken captive by the Enemy against their wills, as they are blinded and bound by Satan (2Ti_2:26). That is why when the natural man hears the Word, it’s foolishness to him. Much of our witnessing is ineffective because we fail to pray, “Lord, please remove the blindfold Satan has put on this person’s eyes. Otherwise, he won’t see the real issues. Please open his ears. Otherwise, He won’t hear Your voice.”
1 Corinthians 2:15
Although the spiritual man is able to put everything in perspective, the worldling can’t figure him out. The world can’t understand why you go to Bible study, why you have devotions, why you spend time in worship. You’re a puzzle, an enigma, a dilemma to the unbeliever.
1 Corinthians 2:16
How do we have the mind of Christ? He lives in us by His Spirit. He’s given His Word to us in the Scriptures.
