Expositions of Holy Scripture
Alexander Maclaren (1826–1910) was a Scottish-born Baptist minister who served as pastor of Union Chapel, Manchester, for 45 years and was widely regarded as the greatest expository preacher of the Victorian era. His Expositions of Holy Scripture, spanning 32 volumes, covers large portions of the Bible with sermons that are masterpieces of English prose. Maclaren's expositions combine deep scholarship with poetic eloquence and passionate spiritual application.
