Can you spell? Do you know the other way of spelling love? Put the “o” first, then a “b,” an “e,” and a “y,” and you get the practical day-by-day meaning. Yet “obey” doesn’t mean merely doing things. Obedience is the rhythm of our wills with Jesus’ will. It opens the way for him to pour out the fulness of his love, and this in turn stirs ours to a new depth and tenderness. Let us learn the spelling that links our lives to his.
