SIN’S STINGER

Romans 6:14-23

Sin’s a hard master. It snaps a long whip with a stinger on the end. It exacts slavish obedience. Jesus breaks sin’s hold. He cuts off that stinger, and breaks the whip. He asks obedience, too, but how different. Obedience is really a music word. It’s the rhythm of your will, at its strongest, with Jesus’ will. Obedience is best when you’re not think­ing so much about obeying, but about pleas­ing your Friend.
