One of the eunuchs in the palace of Ahasuerus (Xerxes), in immediate attendance on Esther, who employed him in her communications with Mordecai (Esth. iv. 5-10, R. V.). The Septuagint has ἈξραΘεῖος.

HATHACH.—A eunuch appointed by the king to attend on queen Esther. By his means Esther learned from Mordecai the details of Haman’s plot against the Jews (Est 4:5-6; Est 4:9-10).
