Irritated over media coverage of Israeli war...

S
sermonindex

Has anyone other than me noticed that the coverage of the war between Hezbolah and Israel is all about the human suffering in Lebanon, with hardly a mention about those who have been wounded and killed in ISRAEL?? Man, I find that irritating! Hezbolah gets a free pass, and Israel is villified... and Hezbolah was the aggressor!

I guess we shouldn't be surprised.

I am in total agreement, Krispy. That's why I tend not to pay much attention to the news. It is very biased.

I dont remember where I exactly heard this, but I think it is the terrorist test:

What would happen if Hizbollah destroyed all of their weapons and declared themselves peaceful?

They would live in peace with the state of Israel.

What would happen if Israel destroyed all of their weapons and declared themselves to be peaceful (which is what they are)?

Hizbollah would destroy every jew that they could, and destroy the state of Israel.

you hit the nail right on the head.

This whole thing is not about logic and common sense: it is about evil and the devil making one last thrust in his war with God.

Krispy, did you listen to link I posted? Here it is again: http://www.calvarycch.org/media/
Check out the sermon by Jack Hibbs. It beats any secular news report or commentary! (My opinion!)

I would have to agree Krispy.

Also, I think the UN gets overlooked in these events. Several years ago Israel followed the UN's plan and made concessions to Hezbolah for peace...once again a UN resolution proves to be useless at best.

No wonder Israel seems indifferent to World opinion. World opinion is just an euphemism for UN agenda, which is proving to be engineered towards it's own self interests.

Just my opinion,

The children of this world are more wiser in thier ways than the children of light.
I think its was pretty cleaver of Hezbolah to launch missles from the middle of a pack of women and children using them for human body shields, typical terrist tactics. However it is sad that very few in the media keyed in on the fact that Israel has released sat photos of this taking place. As reguards the media? Thier of thier father the devil and its his biddng they do. Like a wild pack of dogs.

The UN is a joke. I wish our president would hand them an eviction notice and send them on out of America. The UN building would make a nice 5 star hotel.

Hi y'all,

Try listening to the bbc's coverage online!

I've just heard a bbc.co.uk/fivelive (listen now) report from Tiberias, and believe me, the number of rockets there, and fired by Hezbolah overall, (only this morning), and estimates of numbers injured in Israel - two seriously - were not the only details mentioned. The Israeli Prime Minister's statement (I won't pretend I can spell his name) was also announced at least twice on one bulletein. There were no details about Hezbolah's positions, losses or civilian injuries caused by Israel's ground offensive.

I have another suggestion: after evicting the UN, remodel the building to house a museum, showcasing the folly of mankind! Among the exhibits use the UN as a starting point, highlighting their failures to be just.

Then I would volunteer Krispy to be the curator of the museum!

Ginny... you're a southerner just as I am... we could add a little down home spin to world events, I'm sure! Bring a little Mayberry common sense to things. Where's Andy when you need him?

Oh... and the number for the UN Museum would of course be... BR549!

An interuption: Two days ago CBC news covered an interview with a high-ranking Israeli official. So we saw it from his point of view. Apparently the Lebanese civilians were warned and had a chance to get out ahead of time.

Here is something I read this morning that is really disturbing, but nontheless, Jesus is still in charge:

Iran to Nuke Israel on August 22? - by Robert Spencer - www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=16208

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has frustrated Western officials by refusing to reply to their offer of various incentives in exchange for Iran's discarding its nuclear program until August 22. The Western governments had asked Ahmadinejad to reply by June 29; why would Tehran need two extra months?

Farid Ghadry, the president of the Reform Party of Syria, has offered a provocative explanation for this delay. He asserts that the Supreme National Security Council of Iran chose the August 22 date "for a very precise reason. August 21, 2006 (Rajab 27, 1427) is known in the Islamic calendar as the Night of the Sira'a and Miira'aj, the night Prophet Mohammed (saas) ascended to heaven from the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on a Bourak (Half animal, half man), while a great light lit-up the night sky, and visited Heaven and Hell also Beit al-Saada and Beit al-Shaqaa (House of Happiness and House of Misery) and then descended back to Mecca.…"

The Night Journey, or Miraj, is central to Islam's claim to Jerusalem as an Islamic holy city. According to Islamic tradition, Muhammad was carried on a Buraq, a miraculous horse with a human head, from Mecca to Jerusalem, where he ascended into heaven and met the other prophets. The only thing the Qur'an has to say about it is this: "Glory to (Allah) Who did take His servant for a Journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the farthest Mosque, whose precincts We did bless, in order that We might show him some of Our Signs: for He is the One Who heareth and seeth (all things)" (17:1). There is no identification of the "farthest Mosque" with any mosque in Jerusalem in this, but the Hadith is very clear on the identification of its location with Jerusalem.

The traditions say that Muhammad and the Buraq, along with the angel Gabriel, went to the Temple Mount, and from there to heaven itself, where Muhammad encountered various prophets. In the sixth heaven was Moses, occasioning a dig at the Jews. "When I left him," Muhammad says, "he wept. Someone asked him, 'What makes you weep?' Moses said, 'I weep because after me there has been sent (Muhammad as a Prophet) a young man, whose followers will enter Paradise in greater numbers than my followers.'"

Evidently, however, Muhammad's stories of his journey were not altogether convincing: some Muslims even abandoned Islam. Did he really go anywhere? According to his favorite wife, Aisha, he didn't: "The apostle's body remained where it was but God removed his spirit by night." Nevertheless, the Night Journey has become firmly embedded in the Islamic consciousness, such that Muslims today celebrate it as one of the central events of Muhammad's life. And now, according to Ghadry, Ahmadinejad is planning an illumination of the night sky over Jerusalem to rival the one that greeted the Prophet of Islam on his journey. What the Iranian President, he says, is "promising the world by August 22 is the light in the sky over the Aqsa Mosque that took place the night before. That is his answer to the package of incentives the international community offered Iran on June 6."

Certainly a nuclear attack on Jerusalem or even an all-out conventional assault against Israel by Iran would be consistent with Ahmadinejad's oft-repeated denials of Israel's right to exist and recent predictions that its demise was at hand. He hinted at the use of nuclear weapons in his phrasing when he said that Israel "pushed the button of its own destruction" by finally retaliating against Hizballah's relentless rocket barrage from south Lebanon.

"Arrogant powers," Ahmadinejad said, "have set up a base for themselves to threaten and plunder nations in the region. But today, the occupier regime" -- that is, Israel -- "whose philosophy is based on threats, massacre and invasion, has reached its finishing line."

Will he attempt to make good on these threats this year on the anniversary of the Miraj, illuminating the night sky over Jerusalem? Will Western powers heed Farid Ghadry's words and move to stop Iran before it is too late?

Brother Krispy ...

Yeah i too have noticed the same thing, but then again this isn't really a new phenomena is it? ... Seems to me the majority of other folk on this planet from the time our God first brought His Israel on the world scene have been biased against them, if not just down right prejudiced ... At least now due to an awakening in so called right wing Christianity our understanding of Israel's continued importance to God has spurred some voices "for her" even in the news media ... And not only that it seems this new love from fundamentalist Christianity toward Israel has even sparked some pretty interesting "end time" witnessing opportunities via media who know that we're watching Israel with interest from this apocraphal perspective ...

All i know is that Holy Spirit is having a field day with me in witnessing to unsaved folk on my job about what's going on now ...

i'm posting this because you/others might find it interesting (Shimon Peres just seems to give it to us plain) -

Israeli Dpty. Prime Minister Shimon Peres discusses Israel's political and military strategy in the conflict with Hezbollah and Hamas. A former Prime Minister, Mr. Peres has been active in Israeli political life for over fifty years. The Washington Institute for Near East Policy hosts the event.

Sid D you wrote;
"Apparently the Lebanese civilians were warned and had a chance to get out ahead of time."

i've been reading/watching a great deal of news coverage from all over about this conflict ... As difficult as it is for me at times i even force myself thru listening to the Hezbollah/Syrian/Iranian side of things because i also want to be informed of their views ...

But an interesting point came up in CNN's "INSIDE HEZBOLLAH" and also in the Perez interview, this being that over time Lebanon has went from 2/3 Christian - 1/3 Muslim to now 2/3 Muslim (Shiites - same as Hezbollah & Iran) - 1/3 Christian ... Up until this radical majority shift Peres said that Israel had no beef with Lebanon ... So while many who could may have fled southern Lebanon, it seems the majority of the able bodied who've stayed behind when interviewed by media side with Hezbollah, which certainly makes me view them as less than innocent victims ...

There's an element in Lebanese society from what i see, thus far being Christians, little children, and perhaps the Lebanese Government (and i'm not sure about them) that i might classify as victims ... But as for the rest of the Shiite majority i believe that they are totally aware of Hezbollahs tactics of firing on Israel from resedential neighborhoods and they are complicit with it ... Not only that to me they seem complicit to dying in droves behind it when in such hatred they cheer the firing of Katusha rockets
into the land of folk who can and do devestatingly respond with F-16's ... It's like going up against an Uzzi with a Derringer, a scenario in my thinking only those under strong delusion would engage in ...

Blessings!

Here's some more audio/info on the Israel/Hezbollah conflict -

1 - Paul Salem, Carnegie Middle East Center in Beirut, Director-Designate discusses the Lebanese government and issues facing them during current Middle East conflict. He was in Beirut last month.

This has some indepth info on Lebanese society, it's government and about outside influences:

2 - Gen. Moshe Yaalon, Israeli Defense Forces talks about Israel’s military capabilities and ways to solve conflict, latest developments in fighting. The general is a visiting military scholar at Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

General states the Israel isn't even using 5% of it's military on Hezbollah -

This 3rd. link i tried to watch but i just couldn't get thru it ... First off i personally find it hard to listen to a so called spiritual leader who's always lifting up a gun, and secondly is responsible for starting a clash with Israel in the first place and then wants to be critical that Israel's response is a bit overboard ... And third now he wants to dictate the terms of a cease fire when he fired first ... i thank God that as a Christian i'm aware that there's more going on here than meets the natural eye regarding this lunacy ...

Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah discusses the recent fighting and possible ceasefire terms.

This is true. We heard a lot about it in the UK.

Also, there are (or were), 10,000 ex-pat Britons in southern Lebanon, who had to decide what to do. A British Navy ship went to act as a staging post and those who wanted to, were airlifted out. (Others chose to stay, or move north.)

We heard a very touching interview with a 12 year old called Hussein, who is English, who was on holiday there with many other family members, whom he did not want to leave, especially as there was still food, water and electricity and apparently little danger (at that point). But, his parents were doing their best to sound calm while they and his sister encouraged him to come home while he could. (I don't know if he did.)
