It's been heavy on my heart for some time now to film and edit good, solid, biblical open air preaching.

So I recently started the job.

Here are my first two videos.

Many more are coming soon!!

OPERATION SHOCK & AWE

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E1BtMvtUpQ
(This is actually part two, but is more fitting as part one. It comes with special WarCry battle theme introduction)

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4Isjq6GBxM
(With rare and never before released footage)

I listened Jesse, to several vids.

Question[s]:

1. Where is the message of reconcilation?

2. Where is the message of God's love?

3. Where is God's love in your tone?

Most of all I heard was a hard note of condemnation from your opinion, even though you may have quoted from the scriptures. Your opinion was all I heard which made the scriptures you quoted of none effect. I can argue with your opinion and they did. I can't argue with the scriptures that have power in themselves. That then raises the issue of anointing upon the scriptures you used.. I didn't sense any. Consequently, you "piped a tune and nobody sang; you sang a dirge and nobody mourned".

So I need to ask you, do you believe your calling to be because of the need for souls to be saved or is your calling of the Lord Jesus Christ, to be in union with Him?

Respectfully,

Orm

I have to agree with the other guy, you didnt preach the word of God, all you did was argue theology with people.

Yes, when the gospel is preached the people will come, but they will come in an attitude of repentance not an argument of arguing as most of your video showed.

Everytime yuo talked you were shot down as if you had no authority.

I really think you should reconsider if you are actually called of God or if your just sacrificing your time in doing something you think your led to but arent

yours

The video clips I had available were very limited.

The ones I used were not the best as far as content goes.

And were not the best either as far as crowd interaction goes.

This past semester we preached on the campuses 5 days a week, for 6-7 hours a day.

During that time the crowd would be arguementative, or quite and respectful.

Sometimes they would heckle, sometimes ask questions.

Sometimes they would ask a theological question or make a theological comment that needed to be comment on, because they were hiding their sin behind it.

Sometimes they would ask an apologetical question or make an apologetical comment, regarding evolution or something of that sort. So we needed to give an apologetical answer.

Sometimes we focus on preaching against sin and preaching the Law, if the crowd was proud.

Other times we emphasised grace and mercy, if the crowd was humble.

Every audience and every campus and every open air is different.

But the clips I had from last semester were not the best clips, as you can see.

But now that I have a video camera I'll be able to get clips with much better content.

So more videos are coming soon.

So more videos are coming soon.
This would be helpful, Jesse, as really, it’s hard to see the wider picture in just a few moments of video.
I wonder why you are posting them for us. Are seeking input to help you grow in your walk?

This comment grabbed me:

as if you had no authority

You, know even before seeing these words, I had been thinking along the same lines. I sense a need for authority in your message and in your life in general. Passers-by no doubt can see that. And that’s why you don't seem convincing. Without authority they will tend to view you as one of the many who are spouting opinions.

Recently God has been teaching me something about authority: We cannot have genuine authority unless we are first able to SUBMIT to authority. Consider an accomplished musician. He cannot become an authority (expert) without first submitting to those who have more authority than him – that means those who have themselves gone further down the road, who know and understand more.

I might add that there are countless musicians out there who think that they are great, and can even draw a crowd for a time. But really they are quite mediocre. They are relying on their own self-evaluation and their popularity rather than submitting to those who know more then them.

All that rambling to point out that I have been following your journey over the last while and noticed that SI members with genuine authority have been giving you guidance. So I eagerly watched these videos hoping to see the results of your submission. I have to say, that my heart was grieved, as I didn’t feel convinced that you have fully submitted.

I still believe that there is a purpose for you being here and for sharing what you are doing. I trust that you will come to value the need to submit to authority - both human and divine. It is the humble path to gaining authority in your life and your message.

Consider these words from a man who had genuine authority:
“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith may not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.’ 1 Cor. 2:4

The glory that excels

The Lord . . . hath sent me that thou mightest receive thy sight. Acts 9:17.

When Paul received his sight he received spiritually an insight into the Person of Jesus Christ, and the whole of his subsequent life and preaching was nothing but Jesus Christ—“I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” No attraction was ever allowed to hold the mind and soul of Paul save the face of Jesus Christ.

We have to learn to maintain an unimpaired state of character up to the last notch revealed in the vision of Jesus Christ.

The abiding characteristic of a spiritual man is the interpretation of the Lord Jesus Christ to himself, and the interpretation to others of the purposes of God. The one concentrated passion of the life is Jesus Christ. Whenever you meet this note in a man, you feel he is a man after God’s own heart.

Never allow anything to deflect you from insight into Jesus Christ. It is the test of whether you are spiritual or not. To be unspiritual means that other things have a growing fascination for you.

I wonder why you are posting them for us.

The purpose of me making these videos is to "convict the sinners and comfort the Saints" which ought to be the goal of all preaching.

I want these videos to encourage the body of Christ. But not only encourage them to open air preach, but also equip them for the tast.

It seems the videos are doing their job!

I normally do not share personal emails, but these are a few that have really encouraged me:

Here is a young brother in the Lord, who wants to start open air preaching!

What I see you doing, as far as your preaching goes, is very similar to what I read in scripture. My heart longs to be involved with REAL Christianity. I can remember around a year ago, I came accross your website and read of the stories, especially the one when you went to Orlando and witnessed the gross immorality and preached there with others. When I read that story, my eyes flooded with tears because of it
and I so wished that I could go with you and preach.

Since last year, when I first saw your preaching
and desired to be involved somehow in what your doing, that desire still has been in me, sometimes more, sometimes less. I cannot help but express my mind to you. I see these videos of the preaching that is going on and see God moving among you and its as though the center of my soul is drawn to be preaching with you all, though I've never preached in my life, am just
16, all I have done is pass out tracts (perhaps from the time I was 14 to now, only 5,000), yet I so want to be involved by whatever means nessesery.

Here is one from a brother who was inspired by the ministry and the videos:

You are an inspiration to me! Going into the lion's den only shows to me that, Jesus did indeed rise from the dead. I viewed one of the videos and picked up on the fact that even church kids were arguing with you. Today, In America, being a Christian means nothing, and I mean nothing. At 21 it is incredible the call the Lord has placed on your life.

Seeing you reminds me of this verse: A MAN WHO IS DILIGENT IN HIS WORK, WILL STAND BEFORE KINGS. Since you represent the KING OF KINGS, the Lord will give you audience in places you can't even imagine. The Gospel today has little relevance. I'm convinced that few people in the church are saved.

Little do the people that hear you speak realize, that just like when Jesus was being nailed to the cross, He was dying to save the ones pounding in the nails, when you preach, you are doing it for the ones that taunt and try to humiliate you. Please keep carrying your cross. We need a million more like you! I'm convinced that the place missionaries are needed most in the world, IS IN THE AMERICAN CHURCH!

COLLEGE CAMPUS CROWDS REMIND ME OF what Paul said in the book of Romans, "PROFESING THEMSELVES TO BE WISE, THEY HAVE BECOME FOOLS! " Never back down dear brother! Be clothed in the Lord and in the power of His might! THE HOUR IS LATE AND THE LABORERS ARE FEW

Here's one from another young brother who was encouraged and wants to start preaching!

Hey Brother Jesse,

I just watched those two videos, they encouraged my soul very much, may the Lord use them for His Glory! Man i sure would love to come with you guys on a circut. If theres ever an opening let me know please.

I'm always excited when I get emails from people who want to start preaching, because the Lord said that the laborers are so few!!

We should be grieved and burdened over sinners going to hell so much, that we would lay down our reputations and our comforts to give them warning. Yet how few of us actually do that!

So I'm very glad people are being encouraged on these videos to take the gospel to where it belongs!

But I not only want these videos to encourage Christians, I am also hoping that unsaved people who surf YouTube might come across these videos, come under conviction of their sin, and put their faith in Jesus Christ.

I know that the Word of God will never return void. It will get the job done.

N
NLONG

Say haven't had time to watch the videos, but I sure am glad that someone is getting off their rear and getting out there sharing the gospel ... which does have just as much judgment as grace. Presenting one without the other is not the gospel. We don't know of our need for repentence, and the grace of a Savior, until we've been stripped naked by the Law (the awareness of sin).

I sure hope that all those who are commenting have done some preaching. Otherwise, get the plank out.

This raises a good question--True or false--there is there a universal call to preach the gospel given by Jesus before his ascension. This to every creature and into the whole world.

M
myfirstLove

jesse, i agree with diane's post. please consider her words and allow God to refine you.

should all christians be out preaching the gospel? thats a pretty scary thought. not all are ready. paul was counted worthy to preach.

paul encourage all to live holy lives, but God's word were committed to faithful men in the house and outside (women can preach outside).

King James Version (KJV)

11According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

12And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

1 Thessalonians 2:4

4 But as we have been APPROVED by God to be ENTRUSTED WITH THE GOSPEL, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.

Romans 2
God’s Righteous Judgment
1 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3 And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

those who preach hypocritical are storing wrath upon themselves so i wouldn't encourage all christians to preach, but my desire would make sure that they are first in a right standing with God.

read about bishop and deacon too.

not all can handle the word or called too. thank God for that! many preachers need to be driven to the wilderness first, so they may come out filled with God, humbled and totally broken. then will they be fit to preach and give Him glory.

Hello Jesse,

I would just like to say: God bless you for the obedience in your heart and for preaching the whole counsel of God. I thank God for the fruit in your life and the love God has given you.

"Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed." Isaiah 66:5

"Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost." [1 Th 2:15-16]

"And for this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying of my hands".
"Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe".

Personally I think Jesse you need to plainly stop looking for the approval of men and do simply what God has put on your heart to do. There is way to much controversy that you try to arise at times and if it for the sake of growth of others I could understand but mostly it goes beyond that.

I love you brother and have enjoyed our times of fellowship but I would say to you that just go and not look for the approval or applause of men, even making these type of videos really doesn't do much for your ministry as towards God.

Be of no reputation and seek the glory of Christ alone. I hope that does not tear down anything that is from God but brings devestation to any of your own kingdoms you are building in your heart even the small ones. Go onwards of the glory of Christ alone and make known His gospel. time is short and we will all be before Him.

"marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you." - 1 John 3:13

The ones I used were not the best as far as content goes.

This is pretty sad. Wouldn’t it be better to not make any video if this is all you had? Why you put out videos that paint you and your ministry in bad and negative light? Unless you don’t think they do paint you in a bad and negative like the others here have suggested.

Jesse quotes from the video:

“There is one kind of sex God wants you have and this called HOLYYYYYYY SEXXXX!!!!!”

“God has a stone that says ‘Thou shalt not commit adultery’ and one day He who is without sin is going to cast that stone and he who has committed adultery and has refused to repent will be SSMMAASSHHEEDD!!!!!!!!!! by that stone on Judgment Day.”

Are you SERIOUSSSSSSSSSSS! Is that what Jesus said to the woman who was accused of adultery? Did Jesus say “He who is without sin is going to cast a stone and SSMMAASSHHHHHHH you on Judgment Day”????? I agree with pervious poster who said you should really question whether you are called from the Lord or if you have made up your supposed calling in you own mind. These videos are pretty sick and reflect what I have been saying all along. This type of preaching does very little if anything at all to bring people into the Kingdom of God. At best this is just an open air Jerry Springer show with a few Scriptures mixed in and done in the name of Jesus.

Here are a few more videos and picture of Jesse and his friends that further prove my point. Take a look and you be the judge.

This is exactly what we were talking about in the thread “Can A Lost Sinner Stop Sinning?” here is the link and some excerpts from that thread. https://www.sermonindex.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=11984&forum=36&44

All their preaching does is bring bondage and death. That is why you don't hear of people being miraculous freed from the bondage of sin- there is no freedom and life just condemnation and death. They go to rock concert and condemn rock music fans. They go to sporting events and preach against ticket scalpers. The go to beaches and preach against inappropriate dress and go to college campuses and preach against fraternities. I am not kidding they REALLY do this sort of thing and think they are doing a good thing for Jesus, but in reality they know nothing of the Gospel and only bring condemnation and death hardening sinner ever more against Jesus.

Jesse wrote: Yes a sinner is capable of stopping his sin. That is why God "commands all men everywhere to repent."

God only commands the possible. He doesn't require apples from peach trees. He doesn't cut down and burn peach trees for not bearing apples.

and

But yes, a sinner does not have to sin.

This is the type of attitude many street preachers have that I spoke of previously. This type of attitude leads to self-righteous condemnation and accusing sinners for being sinners and thus being co-workers of Satan the great accuser. These preachers condemn sinners for their dress, lifestyles, music, entertainment etc. and tell them that must repent and stop sinning. They condemn apples trees for acting like apple trees and producing apples.

Do we use the law or sins mentioned in Scripture to point out the fact that(as Greg so apply put it) we have a terrible heart condition that we can't fix - that we need a heart transplant - YES ABSOLUTELY. The sin shows us or diagnoses the problem - original sin or our heart condition. To tell sinners that rap music or provocative dress (for example) is a sin and that they need to repent and stop sinning is just condemning and useless. This type of self-righteous condemnation preaching just pushes people away from Jesus and hardens their hearts.

Steet preaching is not just evangelistic. It is the tip of the spear when it comes to confronting the powers of the age.
The public arena is where Jesus lived, he was born in public, a stable of sorts, he died in public nailed to a cross. Nearly every miracle and event in the gospels happened in the market place, in public or on a road somewhere... In the book of Acts I think it is 39 of the 43 miracles happened in public. Our faith is the public faith, we have lost the culture war because we have lost the streets.
When our mouths declare the truth of God and the righteousness of God we tear down the lies, now the most effective way is with a demonstration of power, but we all have to grow in the ways of the miraculous! Going and opening our mouths is the starting place! This lad if he is trying to self promote etc. God will deal with him, and the Lord can through your words, but be warned when you tear at something that rubs you the wrong way. The ways of God are higher than ours and the message we preach is foolishenss to the world. Their efforts are noble becuase the word has gone forth. If they did not go how would those people hear? Or would you prefer them to hear nothing? Or maybe you could go in their stead?(GO YE) God will use the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, he will use the rough things, the awkward things, the not so polished things, the most unlikely of sorts to communicate His message.
A man lieing on his side for a long time eating food prepared over donkey poo-poo was God's way, actually the Lord wanted some skubalon, human poo-poo for fuel! This is very strange to our western minds, but that is the problem, our western minds, unregenerate as they are are the enemies of God!
May God grant us eyes to see and ears to hear what the spirit is saying today! (GO YE)

Phl 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

What an incredible verse this is. It is God's responsibility to judge the motives behind what men do, not our responsibility. It's amazing to me that Paul could rejoice over even the gospel being preached in pretense when he himself was bound in prison! He could rejoice that Christ was being named even though it was to hurt him personally, amazing! Oh, that we would have hearts like this to see Jesus shine and be exalted even if we must be splattered with mud and humbled. Where is that spirit in this thread?

In Christ,

I'd like to issue an apology if I have given the impression that I'm looking to steal any glory or honor away from Jesus!! God forbid!!! What a terrible crime that is!!

My only motive behind making these videos is to promote the Kingdom of God. And to spread a message of repentance and faith in Jesus even on the internet.

There is such a lack of good open air preaching videos. There are a few out there, but only a few. But if we are going to reach the masses, the Churches need to have some open air preachers. And I'd like to just do my apart, even if it's small, to help that.

A great need today is for open air preachers who will call America and the world to repentance and faith. Who, "knowing the terror of the Lord" will "persuade men" knowing that "by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil".

I only want people to be encouraged by these videos and possibly equipped.

These videos are not the best, but I still think they are good.

The next ones will be even better, because I'll be able to film a lot of other preachers who are far, far better at preaching then I am.

Once again, I apologies if I have ever given the impression that I'm seeking glory by what I am doing. I am not. In fact, my ministry often brings the opposite upon me.

But God's will be done. And God's Word be preached!!

I have prayed to the Lord before I wrote this response to you, so as not to be speaking from my flesh or to stumble a brother like yourself.

You said the reason for posting these video's was to "comfort the saints". I am a sinner saved by Grace and the wonderous provisions of Jesus Christ, and I am here to tell you that I am NOT comforted.

Quite the opposite, I am grieved to my core, to the depth of my soul for several reasons in response to what I viewed on your video's.

The first reason I am grieved and heartbroken is that you are NOT preaching the Love of Jesus, His sacrifice, His Passion, you are not preaching Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Instead your are haranguing and dealing out harsh human condemnation upon lost and hurt people, and doing it under the guise of some twisted interpetation of what you percieve as the "Lord's calling" upon you, to engage in argumentative public confrontations upon people who live on a knife's edge of decideing whther to drink of the Living Waters or not, and you instead in your fleshly immaturity offer them bile and wormwood. I do NOT see the Heart of Christ in your public utterances.

We are told to make the Gentiles ENVIOUS of this great love we have recieved, and there is nothing in your public ministry that would make the Gentiles envious of what we have recieved.
(edit)

You say you preach out of love to save the lost, from those who do not believe in this great salvation, to save them from eternal separation from a just God, but after witnessing your public ministry, I say that you are doing the opposite, you are driving them AWAY from Jesus.

I noticed that your "audience" maintains a far distance from you. Don't fall into the delusion that this is because you are holy, and the devil within them recoils from this holiness. It is because even the lost hurting conused poeple wandering the campus can discern that there is no love within you, only a hateful argumentative harsh spirit, and people, instinctly recoil from such venom, as you display. There is no meekness, no love, and no humility nor winsomeness in your public discourse.

I know you fancy yourself as engaging in a "John the Baptist" type of ministry, but remember this, John the Baptist was only a forerunner of Christ, who said he was not fit to tie the sandals of Jesus. and John the Baptist was in loving intimate ministry with desperate people, he touched them when he baptised them, He got up close and personal when ministering to the lost and hurting.

You have told me that you loved the "Life of Brainerd", and I assume you have read this annointed and wonderful book of this saints journals. I have read it three times, I say that not to boast, but there is something heavenly and inspiring about the writing of this precious saint. Fully the first third of his journals is lamenting his unworthiness for minstry and his unprofitability to discharge his calling of God, he underwent much preparation and self examination before he went among the Indians and frontier folk, and then he preached to them with gehtleness and humility, and the fruit recived was a true miracle, so uplifting.

Have you REALLY read this book with an open heart? Have you ever tried to model your ministry on this yielded saint?

From what i have seen on the videos I think not.

Even two "church-goers" as you so termed them, called you on what you are doing, and instead of engaging them in a respectful repose of listening, you just shouted over them. That black sister was testifying with more authority than you could muster. I oculd discern that she loved Jesus, and you were doing your worst to alienate her. That gray haired lady, who called you a little boy, was trying to engage you in correction, and you just shouted her down.

Thats not Jesus' love, that just fleshly religious pride and immaturity.

Dear sister Diane wrote you a wise post and you totally blew her off, or even addressed her concerns in a thoughtful loving manner, rejoicing that an older sister in the Lord was attempting to help steer you in a direction that will yield fruit.

You just closed your ears and mind, because you are OUT of submission to the Body of Christ, you are out of submission to Godly correction. You are a 21 year old kid, newly saved and you are wandering around like a bull in a china shop, except that china is just a piece of ceramic, we are talking about the souls of people.

Furthermore, I always thought the title of this minstry of yours "Operation Shock and Awe" was a poor choice of words, totally out of synch with the message of Grace, its more like something that a bunch of zealot kids cooked up.

I remember my BC days, and if I was unfortunate to stumble across your public ministry, your ill prayed out public utterances would have driven me far from a God whose message is Love and Grace in Jesus Christ. I shudder to think how many of the lost you are driving away on those public campus's.

Now let me talk about the plank in my eye. Krispy and I had been engaging in cyber tussles over the most trivial issues, stuff we disagree on, but God loves us both, and in the unity of Christ, and thru PM's we have come to love one another, it was only THRU Christ that we were able to do this.

I write these words not to hurt you, or insult you, make you feel bad about yourself, or to discourage you from public ministry, I write them as the Lord leads me, because I am so grieved at what I saw in those videos, and I must admonish you on this, and urge you to seek a time in the desert to be honed by God, becuase you are going off the rails, big time, and stumbling others in the process, and bringing discredit to Jesus' message of love and grace in Him.

Many will try and flatter you, I was quite baffled why instead of adressing the concerns of Diane, you post private emails written by those who desire to flatter itching ears. It smacks of religious pride.

I pray Greg reads this and discerns my intent on writing such a harsh letter to you, not to start trouble, but by clearly and forthrightly rebuking you in the Holy Spirit, not in my flesh nor in my opinion.

Here's the last thing that grieves me, in the past those in this fellowship have attempted to call you, a 21 year old, on a ministry that has gone awry. I feel that all I have poured out from my heart to you will just fall on deaf immmature eras, and you will just continue to engage in a ministry that bears bile, argument, confusion and hatred, while dressing it in the Robes of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I won't pray against your ministry, but I pray you will wake up and see your error.

Hoping against hope, bartle

I've been following you too for awhile. I speak from a limited view-point, albeit, but I still will share with you what I feel. I may be wrong, and God will have to be the judge of my words, but anyhow...

I believe there is something grievely wrong with the way that you and your "team" conduct yourself. I cannot put my finger on any direct thing except that you barely ever mention Jesus Christ & His resurrection. I say this as a fellow brother in the Lord: I just see something amiss in your ministry Jesse. Something doesn't resonate with my spirit with what you guys are doing.

I just do not understand how you can yell at people in their sins and tell them to 'stop sinning' as if this was some works based religion. They can't stop sinning! They need Jesus to free them from their sin! Why did you not mention Jesus??!?! I don't get it man. I honestly haven't heard you really preach the Gospel, ever. That saddens me. I see a lack of focus on the whole theme of what you are to be preaching, that God has made a plan for man to come to Him, and it is through Jesus Chrsit, it is His reconciliation. This, I do not see, or hear. All I see is you yelling and arguing with sinners, which is pointless. Do you think Paul argued with sinner's, theologically or whatnot? No, he came with no intellectual knowledge but what he had known in Christ. There are times for reasoning, sure, but when you are preaching to lost sinners, you don't try to debate with them and tell try to convince them that their lost. God does that.

I know it is just a bird's eye, from what I've heard and seen, but nonetheless it does speak for itself. What you uploaded in all of your past videos reflects what you deem important and whatnot. You may say this is not all of what you preached, but it is still an unacceptable, works-based, Gospel, I believe.

Greg, while he shouldn't seek the approval of men, he should seek the discernment, encouragement, and support from his fellow brothers & sisters in Christ. (I don't think he was searching for approval in the first place though.)

I hope my words are not taken offensively, I only mean to share with you what is on my heart.

Difficult ... That there is some true concern as well as some jumping to support and others to condemn ... the condemning. It's the 'either\\or' sometimes that is really difficult to understand rather than just to speak the truth in love ...

This much, carried over from another thread;

Just because there seems to be some confusion about what I preach (because of the shortness of these clips), if I even preach about grace ever or not, I thought I'd make these audios available.

If you listen to the audios, I'm sure you'll see how my preaching is calm, civil, gentle, and yet strong. How I do dispute, but I do so with reasonable and persuasive arguements. How I preach both about sin and the Savior, and how it's Jesus Christ that is the answer, how Jesus Christ saves men from sin and hell. How sinners are not only going to hell, and are condemned already, but also how they can be saved, through Jesus Christ.

No doubt some will still not like these audios. I am sharp and personal in my rebukes against sin. But I humbly hope some will be able to rejoice at the preaching found in these audios. And that these too might be an encouragement and possibly even equipping to Christians with a desire to share their faith and see sinners saved from sin and hell through Jesus Christ.

Jesse,

I am personally concerned when I watched these videos. As one person already commented, if these things are of poor quality, and don't really represent a lot of what you are actually doing, then why put them up? Why further misrepresent yourself?

To me these videos seem like nothing more than a sort of self-glorifying music video that lifts up your edgy sharp message that has put you against the world and against the church. It's much like the garbage Jed Smock made.

I'm all for hell-fire preaching, and the urgent need of the church has to proclaim that individuals repent of their sins. I have no beef with such a message, or an individual who bears such a message. I personally do a lot of preaching on repentance in my own street ministry. However, if this video is supposed to be a representation of your preaching, I noticed one major thing lacking in it: CHRIST.

Where is the focus on Christ? Where is the focus on His works? Where is the focus on His character? Where is the focus on His excellencies? I hear nothing of the sort. Oh, you probably mention it when you have to, after-all, you are a orthodox Bible-believing Christian. But, these things seem more like an "oh by the way...in case I forgot to tell you" sorta thing. They don't seem to be essential to your message. These things are mere ornaments in your preaching, and not the essence.

Your calling men to repentance ought to be grounded on the basis of these things, as it was in the early Church. For if your message of repentance is not grounded in the absolute essentials of the faith, then you are not preaching the gospel, but are simply preaching on morality. It might be Bible-based morality, but this is not the gospel.

The first video I said, "Get out of the sea of sin and into the boat of Christ"

and in the second video I said, "You can be a protestant and go to hell. You can be a Catholic and go to hell. The point is without Jesus...Jesus is the answer"

I often say things like that in my preaching. But these videos are short, and so are the preaching clips. I didn't edit the clips much, they were just the only clips I had. Miles took film using his picture camera, so I used whatever shots he got.

Though I preach a lot about sin, hell, and judgment. It is only so that I can point people to the Savior Jesus Christ. I too wish that there was more of that in these videos. And I am making a conscience affort to assure that for future movies. Because while it may not be an emphasis in these videos, it certainly is an emphasis in our preaching!!

As Joseph Alliene said in his classic "Alarm to Uncovered sinners", "What do I mean by trying to terrify you about hell? Is it to torment you before your time? No, but so that you would come to Jesus Christ." Or something to that affect.

I said that the content of these videos are not good. But I did not mean that what I was saying was not good. The motive was love and the content was biblical. But I meant that the content was not the best because what the film covered was so limited. They are short little bits that do not cover the full preaching of the full councel of God that we do during the hours and days we are on a campus.

So the upcoming videos will have more full length clips, that will have preaching of the law, sin, apologetics, the cross, the new birth, grace, mercy for those who repent etc etc in a more indepth way, rather then just short clips of this or of that.

I think these videos are good. But I think that I could do better.

I was encouraged by this ministry. I have been a street preacher for 3 years. Mostly one on ones and small groups. However the last ten weekends that i have gone out it has been open air. In high populated areas and downtown San diego, there are 6.5 billion people in the world. Could you get those videos on google? If a person doesn't preach it is very hard to judge one because they dont know how it is.Let us tear down strongholds in prayer, amen.

I cannot agree or disagree with these videos, but I did not feel right about them as if something was off.
I would only say to Brother Jesse look at how Jesus interacted with people. He warned them of judgement, told them to stop sinning just as you, but there was something of love in HIS words. The only ones HE raised HIS voice to were the religious self-righteous ones who were condemming all around them for sinning. I make no excuse for sin as it is abomination to GOD, yet is it not interesting, and somewhat frightening that if Christ was at one of your meetings He just might have corrected you? We all need to check our hearts before we deal with any person saved or unsaved.
But now I ask you again to look at how Jesus dealt with people, then look at how these videos make you look(I'm sure there is a whole other side to you brother). But to quote Ravenhill "You cannot whip people until you have wept over them", and if you remember Brother Reidhead's words from the Ten Shekels message about Whitefield "throwing his head back and weeping like a baby for the sinners"
Maybe you should use a little of this, maybe we should all use a little of this.
Either way Jesse, you are loved by many in this cyber-church, and that is the very reason we correct.

G'day Jesse...........

Remember how someone came up to Moody and said to him "i dont like the way you preach", he said "either do i"

"Well how do you do it"? Moody asked.

She said "i dont".

Moody replied "i like my way much better".

God bless you, keep going. Pressing on for Jesus, i know your not doing this for yourself.

ciao Laz. Forget about the lovey duby religious folk, keep pressing on, you encouraged me.

Be led by the Spirit brother!!!

It is good that you are street preaching brother but do take care not to make it your chief end. God is to be worshipped first and then we are to offer ourselves a living sacrifice to be used.

As soon as we begin to get away from making Christ-likeness our paramount object then we get into many curious ways to "do" christianity and get away from the Christ that we should be following.

I just got back from street witnessing and the Lord really spoke through me and a friend to many people. We walked around giving tracts and got into about 5-10 good conversations. The gospel was clearly shared with at least 20-30 people and about 100 tracts were handed out. God was glorified and a good witness for Christ was given.

Personally using video is wrong, I cannot imagine paul the apostle recording his attempts to witness to the lost, and really it would have made the gospel that I shared tonight superficial.

Just because there seems to be some confusion about what I preach (because of the shortness of these clips), if I even preach about grace ever or not, I thought I'd make these audios available.

I would ask Jesse that you would not promote your materials on the forums like this. I do understand that through these type of conversations there is controversy and through that alot of people hear about your ministry and listen to your materials but I think you need to continue to do this without trying to self-promote, etc. I would just go and "do" it and the fruit will simply speak for itself. I would model your ministry after the new testament and Jesus Christ and the Apostles. I think this has happened to many times on the forums here.

I would ask that these videos are not posted on these forums people that know your ministry can go there to access them but personally I don't want to endorse them, I found the first 2 videos ridicilous and it gives the gospel a bad name, all the jokes and puns are frivilous and a total joke. It is making a laughing stock of the content while you are trying to speak of sober truths. Men like Alliene, Finney and others never joked but were serious and somber. And as the one brother pointed out that the compassion of "whitefield" could be felt!

Personally I am sharing with sinners with a broken heart and speak passionately but with a humbleness, why can't you do that? when is the last time you spoke meekness and tears to a person that is without Christ. I know that you are open air preaching to larger crowds but why don't you try speaking to people more one on one and be "real" with them, showing compassion. I am not trying to tell you that you are totally wrong but I think people are disagreeing with your presentation because it seems like you are too "sure" of yourself and not at all appearing as Jesus would with meekness and compassion, telling and warning them at times of hellfire.

Wisdom for everyone:

"I have found by long experience that the severest threatenings of the Law of God have a prominent place in leading men to Christ. They must see themselves lost before they will cry out for mercy. They will not escape from danger until they see it." - A. B. Earle

Scripture?

1 Timothy 1:8

"But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully."

If you read verse 9, it says:

"Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners....."

Isn't that what A. B. Earle said, ""the severest threatenings of the Law of God have a prominent place in leading men to Christ."

So what is this "prominent place" that the Law of God has in leading men to Christ? Let A. B. Earle tell you it.

"They must see themselves lost before they will cry out for mercy. They will not escape from danger until they see it."

"Wherefore the Law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith." - Galatians 3:24

Is it right to hush the fears of sinners with the mercy of God by Jesus Christ right away without first letting the sinner breathe in his utter hopelessness?

When I speak of hopelessness, I mean hopelessness. Can you for the sake of their souls, let them be guilty, condemned, executed by the Law of God? Or must you kiss them instead of letting them be crushed and killed by the 10 cannons of Gods Law?

You may question and believe I'm being harsh, but know that I speak out of love. I want to bring some order to this mess, by the grace of God.

You might question now where the grace of God or where love is in my speech. I'll tell you. In Jesus Christ alone. Read this again:

"They must see themselves lost before they will cry out for mercy. They will not escape from danger until they see it."

Do sinners see themselves lost? Do they see danger? Or do you cover them with your kisses? Do you attempt to adopt them into your family?

"They will not escape from danger until they see it."

Do you want to take the blood of Jesus Christ and cover them with it? God forbid you should kiss them, adopt them, or cover them! Your kisses are deceitful, your adoption is in vain, your covering is absurd!

You can do nothing! Jesus Christ alone can kiss them, He alone can adopt them, He alone can cover them in His blood.

Whom will Christ kiss? What sinner will the precious lips of the Lamb of God kiss?

When someone is crushed and killed by the law, utterly destroyed, heres what will happen. First, Jesus Christ will look upon them and see there deadness.

".....a broken and a contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."

Second, Jesus Christ will have compassion on them.

".....He had compassion....."

Third, Jesus Christ will declare their ressurection with a loud shout.

".....come forth!"

Fourth, Jesus Christ will cause them to walk in Gods statutes. He will cause them to keep Gods judgments and to do them.

"A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my judgments, and do them."

This is a view of the power of God, the gospel. Ponder over this.

Now, before I end this, I'd like you to remember the thief on the cross.

Wasn't the thief guilty? Wasn't the thief condemned? Wasn't the thief executed?

The thief was crucified with Christ.

"They will not escape from danger until they see it."

How do sinners escape the danger once they see it? Get on the cross and be crucified with Christ. Die! What is Jesus Christs answer to a sinner who sees his danger but does not know how to escape it? What is His answer, but a direction pointing to the cross. Then when the sinner is nailed to it by his hands and his feet, without any rights, what else can the sinner say but "Lord, remember me when you enter your kingdom." and what else can Jesus Christ say to them but "Today, you shall be with me in paradise." This is my hope, this is the promise that is faithful.

Untill they are thirsty, do not give them a drink.

I think you need to read this Jesse and seriously pray to God about these things mentioned. As you said in your last post you pointed people to your audio messages to try what you "say" but I think its more important to look at your character, fruit that you display in public when preaching and elsewhere. I think bartle's post address's this and this is where we need to stay not going back to address your "theology".

We are told to make the Gentiles ENVIOUS of this great love we have recieved, and there is nothing in your public ministry that would make the Gentiles envious of what we have recieved, instead you make weird and bizarre gestures, stock gestures that probably have been taught to you by those whose polluted teaching you have fallen under, I will mention no names.

"I have observed for nearly 40 years that the secret of success in promoting Revivals is in having our own hearts filled with the Holy Spirit.

Let none of us preach complaining sermons, or scolding, or make unkind remarks about those who differ from us, or do not come up to the work as we would have them. Let the melting, subduing love of Christ flow from our hearts and lips ...we will find ourselves in the midst of a glorious outpouring of the Spirit ...with no more need of asking, 'How can I promote a Revival'"

[i(A.B. Earle, Bringing in the Sheaves, 1868, quoted by Armin Gesswin).

For the wise, that should be sufficient.

However, I add the below as a reminder of what the harvest looks like:

*"He owns the harvest that is produced by distress and conviction of sin, and this is the harvest we have to pray that labourers may be thrust out to reap."

So if the harvest is ripe and it belongs to the Lord, preaching needs be that of reconcilation only ---- not hellfire and brimstone. Shock and awe preaching to the ones who don't want reconcilation is a waste of the Lord's time.

Not long ago we were in Toronto and happened to come upon a very large crowd in a park - all sitting and standing around watching a drama and music presentation. Clearly, the content was worth stopping to see and hear. We could tell that it was well-planned and well-thought through – done by people who knew what they were doing and who could hold a crowd. The person in charge clearly had authority and control of the crowd.

I wondered – why can’t Christians get together and do that? I think this would be a great idea for those who feel called to minister in the public forum: Why not get together and do a reenactment of the Prodigal Son, or the Good Samaritan. Get some costumes; seek the wise counsel of someone who has theatrical/musical/sound experience.

Of course this would take work – practicing, planning, and working together. But the side-benefit of that is growth among the workers – as they learn to consider one another and be patient.

THAT kind of message will hold a crowd. It will also speak, just as it did in Jesus’ day. THAT is the kind of message that pricks the conscience. Remember, Jesus did not blurt out everything when he was in public. He explained the deeper meaning in private. He was careful not to throw the precious pearls of the kingdom before the brutish swine of the world.

“Always be prepared to give everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that you have.” Pet 3:15
Of course people can tell if we indeed have something of value by watching our lives and interacting with us. If they don’t see anything, they won’t ask. Nevertheless, I think we can stretch the use of this scripture to the public forum setting – where it’s hard to know the real lives of the preachers.

I have learned that there is much value in waiting on the Lord – and letting people approach us when they are ready and seeking. In very few areas in life do we truly affect change in people by offering unsolicited advice, pleas, or even warnings. (right? ;-)) People have to see the need THEMSELVES.

And that brings me back to the parables. They help people think through things. They help people learn about themselves. They are like a few drops of refreshing water – they help others see that there is “clean water - much better than the polluted water they have been drawing from their self-dug wells.

What is a missionary?

As My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you. John 20:21.

A missionary is one sent by Jesus Christ as He was sent by God. The great dominant note is not the needs of men, but the command of Jesus. The source of our inspiration in work for God is behind, not before. The tendency to-day is to put the inspiration ahead, to sweep everything in front of us and bring it all out to our conception of success. In the New Testament the inspiration is put behind us, the Lord Jesus. The ideal is to be true to Him, to carry out His enterprises.
Personal attachment to the Lord Jesus and His point of view is the one thing that must not be overlooked. In missionary enterprise the great danger is that God’s call is effaced by the needs of the people until human sympathy absolutely overwhelms the meaning of being sent by Jesus. The needs are so enormous, the conditions so perplexing, that every power of mind falters and fails. We forget that the one great reason underneath all missionary enterprise is not first the elevation of the people, nor the education of the people, nor their needs; but first and foremost the command of Jesus Christ—“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.”
When looking back on the lives of men and women of God the tendency is to say—‘What wonderfully astute wisdom they had! How perfectly they understood all God wanted!’ The astute mind behind is the Mind of God, not human wisdom at all. We give credit to human wisdom when we should give credit to the Divine guidance of God through childlike people who were foolish enough to trust God’s wisdom and the supernatural equipment of God.

Chambers, O. (1993, c1935). My utmost for his highest : Selections for the year (October 26). Grand Rapids, MI: Discovery House Publishers.

"as He was sent by God" should be submitted to our understanding and sought after to be embraced. How He was sent is they way we should be sent otherwise we are lawless and need to repent.

Ormly, as I read over your concerns and I am wondering if you are responding to past observations more than to my email per se. So, perhaps simply sharing personal anecdotes is best.

The past two summers I directed biblical children’s drama in my town – ie in the public forum, using the theater in the Town Hall. Now, I emphasize that it was God who really directed the whole affair – really it was HIS project. I was just his “gofer” and intermediary. God directed me to everything: the script, those involved, helpers, fabric for costumes, etc etc etc.

What I find exciting is how he managed to work it all out for HIS glory. Clearly he cares about the tiniest detail. He is not into slip-shot presentations of HIS message.

Here are some of the many ways God directed this summer:

1. My lead actor (a teen) cancelled out. So I prayed that God would find us a lead – and God did. It turned out that he was an adult - a professional actor/musician in his past. He offered me good advice at times. I submitted to his knowledge, and he submitted to my overall leadership. It was most effective having an adult in that role. And it was good for the kids to see adults work well together.

2. The night before the service one of the girls got very sick, and her mom called to say that no way would she be able to recover overnight – she was THAT sick. Since this “strange flu” was not going around, I sensed that it was demonic opposition, so I prayed against it. The next morning she was fine.

3. I invited an atheist to be the sound/lighting man. You may cringe, but if you knew the bigger picture you would rejoice. For a man who had once been so violently opposed to religion and now was humbly offering his expertise in a religious event is a miracle.

Ormly, in view of the fact that probably only 2 percent of those who claim to be Christians really are, it is foolish to assume that we can make any missionary endeavor “pure” in our own wisdom. In fact, subtle pride can lurk underneath those pious- appearing motives. While we work with non-Christians we ARE preaching to them.

Addressing your concerns about the “social gospel”: Jesus did make it clear that if you don’t meet the needs of those who cross your path, you won’t get to heaven. You’ll go to hell! While we may not have starving or thirsty people around us every day, there are many other kinds of needs. And to be cynical about that would surely grieve our Lord. For related thoughts read James, 1 John….

KEY POINT: Without faith and obedience (see earlier post about authority), then all we do is sin - even if God does use our miserable efforts.

KEY POINT: Without faith and obedience (see earlier post about authority), then all we do is sin - even if God does use our miserable efforts.

Nonsense.... and they are never miserable efforts if Christ is leading. You insult Him with such a remark. Therefore....if its miserable He isn't in it.

The real key point you miss is that we should never function in life, after the new birth experience, by our faith. It should always be by His faith; His Life in us. That is now the only Faith pleasing to the Father. Gal.2.20 KJV, should satisfy this issue. You might also review John 17.

C

Bartle,

stock gestures that probably have been taught to you by those whose polluted teaching you have fallen under

Other than this, your concern shines through. Almost hate to bring it up, but isn't this where we can all get off track, making assumptions? How I could but wish to better articulate what seems to crop up here time and time again. Why is this done? Is it necessary or helpful? We just do not know and yet go on anyway.

Having been acquainted like many others here with our brother it wouldn't be a stretch to recall that he has read a great deal of those same things many of us have, sat under a variety of teaching. Somehow the distinction is being missed in our concerns and what is seen as undue criticism, just seems it doesn't need to be tainted with assumptions.

Think there is something in this for the quick supporters as well, not that Jesse doesn't need our support and admonishment as some very good, experienced wisdom has been presented, but to quickly dismiss concerns as non-entities is just as dishonest.

Is Christ divided people?

Now let me talk about the plank in my eye. Krispy and I had been engaging in cyber tussles over the most trivial issues, stuff we disagree on, but God loves us both, and in the unity of Christ, and thru PM's we have come to love one another, it was only THRU Christ that we were able to do this.

The balm for the whole of a 'critical spirit'. We ourselves (Bartle and I) having come to a similar understanding.

Jesse, there is much I pray that will be taken from all this and that we all take these matters individually to our own hearts as well.

Take this sentiment to heart;

Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

And pray for each other.

Q

"When Felix sent for Paul, on purpose that he
might “hear him concerning the faith in Christ;” instead of preaching Christ in your sense (which would probably have caused the Governor either to mock or to contradict and blaspheme,) “he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come,” till Felix (hardened as he was) “trembled” (Acts 24:24,25). Go thou and tread in his steps. Preach Christ to the careless
sinner, by reasoning “of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come!”" -John Wesley

Q
quote

"To the gaoler [jailer] indeed, when “he sprang in,
and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and
Silas, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” he immediately
said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ;” (Acts
16:29–31) and in the case of one so deeply convicted of
sin, who would not have said the same? But to the men
of Athens you find him speaking in a quite different
manner; reproving their superstition, ignorance, and
idolatry; and strongly moving them to repent, from the
consideration of a future judgment, and of the resur-
rection from the dead (Acts 17:24–31). Likewise when
Felix sent for Paul, on purpose that he might “hear him
concerning the faith in Christ;” instead of preaching
Christ in your sense, (which would probably have
caused the Governor either to mock or to contradict
and blaspheme) “he reasoned of righteousness, temperance,
and judgment to come,” till Felix (hardened
as he was) “trembled.” (24:24, 25) Go thou, and tread
in his steps. Preach Christ to the careless sinner, by
reasoning “of righteousness, temperance, and judgment
to come!”
If you say, “But he preached Christ in a different
manner in his Epistles:” I answer,
(1.) He did not there preach at all; not in that sense
wherein we speak: For preaching, in our present question,
means speaking before a congregation. But, waving
this, I answer,
(2.) His Epistles are directed, not to unbelievers,
such as those we are now speaking of, but “to the saints
of God,” in Rome, Corinth, Philippi, and other places.
Now, unquestionably, he would speak more of Christ
to these than to those who were without God in the
world. And yet,
(3.) Every one of these is full of the Law, even the
Epistles to the Romans and the Galatians; in both of
which he does what you term “preaching the Law,” and
that to believers, as well as unbelievers.
From hence it is plain, you know not what it is to
preach Christ, in the sense of the Apostle. For doubt-
less St. Paul judged himself to be preaching Christ,
both to Felix, and at Antioch, Lystra, and Athens: From
whose example every thinking man must infer, that
not only the declaring the love of Christ to sinners,
but also the declaring that He will come from heaven
in flaming fire, is, in the Apostle’s sense, preaching
Christ; yea, in the full scriptural meaning of the word.
To preach Christ, is to preach what He hath revealed,
either in the Old or New Testament; so that you are
really preaching Christ, when you are saying, “The
wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the people that
forget God,” as when you are saying, “Behold the Lamb
of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!”
Consider this well—that to preach Christ, is to
preach all things that Christ hath spoken; all his promises;
all his threatenings and commands; all that is
written in his book; and then you will know how to
preach Christ, without making void the Law." -John Wesley

Q
quote

"But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee. When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers. Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit. Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son. These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such a one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God." Psalm 50:16-23

Q
quote

"All those, and those only, are invited to rest in
Christ, that are sensible of sin as a burden, and groan
under it; that are not only convinced of the evil of sin,
of their own sin, but are contrite in soul for it; that are
really sick of their sins, weary of the service of the
world and of the flesh; that see their state sad and
dangerous by reason of sin, and are in pain and fear
about it, as Ephraim (Jer. 31:18–20), the prodigal (Luke
15:17), the publican (Luke 18:13), Peter’s hearers (Acts
2:37), Paul (Acts 9:4,6,9), the jailer (Acts 16:29,30).
This is a necessary preparative for pardon and peace.
The Comforter must first convince (John 16:8); I have
torn and then will heal." -Matthew Henry

Oh?? Chapter and verse, please. And what needs would that include? Humanitarian?

Jesus said, “MANY will say, Lord, Lord… ‘ Matt. 7:22 The ones who will say “Lord” twice (Lord, Lord…) are those who assume to have a PERSONAL relationship with him (!) In Matt. 25:31 we read why many will not enter the kingdom: They failed to meet basic needs: “I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat. ….” You know the rest!

Wow! It looks like no one goes to hell because they did not talk enough (preach), prophesy enough, or do enough miracles, but because they failed to meet needs of the needy.

This is how I understand scripture: Even if you are preaching your heart out, but you are blind to your “neighbor’s” bruises and bashes sustained by a life of abuse, misuse, exploitation, rejection, loneliness, sins, addictions, etc, then you are no different than the religious zealots who walked passed the man in the ditch in the parable of the Good Samaritan. You just can't have Christ in your life and be blind and uncompassionate at the same time! It's impossible.

If you do nothing to help alleviate the suffering of those God has placed in your life, then you are going to hell no matter how many peers give you a pat on the back. How do I know! because Jesus said so! You must confess you sin of indifference and repent. Preaching is not an acceptable alternative to cold love. Nor is it a bandaid for your rebellious hardened heart.

Look here! I must be learning something from our hell/fire preachers.

I trust that this message is sufficiently shocking.

Diane,

You said "If you do nothing to help alleviate the suffering of those God has placed in your life, then you are going to hell no matter how many peers give you a pat on the back. How do I know! because Jesus said so! " Where in Scripture?

I hope I'm not misunderstanding you, if I am, let me apologize ahead of time.

Where does it say in Scripture that our salvation is by works? Salvation by works is that 'other' gospel, that 'jesus' is not the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the Scripture. ??

Ephesians 2:8-10

8 For by BY GRACE ARE YOU SAVED THRU FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 NOT OF WORKS LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST !!

10For we are his workmanship, created IN Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

If we were to attain eternal life by our works, the Cross is totally superfluous.
The need- based gospel, humanitarian gospel, social gospel, are gospels of the many jesus(es) or saviors of the earthly sort with earthly agenda, more like santa clause, while not at all the same as the faith and faith only based gospel of the Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

The Cross, the Cross, the Cross, anything short of, or added on, is offensive to His glory, if not blasphemy.

The need is the opportunity to reveal Christ. Most don't have relationship with Him that would reveal anything but zeal without knowledge that will amount to at best nothing more than a humanitarian effort, in Jesus name, of course. Lets not forget that cause that sanctions it.

Christ Jesus is only the call and now you might understand why so few are chosen. In other words Him first and then let Him take care of choosing whoever is fit to fill the need.

R

It seems that much of what we are getting at is "Fruit Bearing".
As one has said (and I paraphrase) "if we do not take care of the needs, hurts, etc around us, then we are going to hell because Jesus said so"
And another said that this would be pointing to salvation by works.
Yet another was wisely saying need does not necesitate a call.
Common denominator though is fruit. And from what many of us know by looking in the mirror daily we are not properly drawing from the vine, thus fruit that looks odd is the result. There is an old hymn that blesses me so much.

Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always, and feed on His Word.
Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak,
Forgetting in nothing His blessing to seek.
Here is a key
Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret, with Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus, like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct His likeness shall see.

Take time to be holy, let Him be thy Guide;
And run not before Him, whatever betide.
In joy or in sorrow, still follow the Lord,
And, looking to Jesus, still trust in His Word.

Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul,
Each thought and each motive beneath His control.
Thus led by His Spirit to fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted for service above
Is this not what we are all after? To be able to bear the testimony of our LORD without the tainting of the flesh?
If we would only allow HIM to flow through us in everything, especially those semingly "little things", then we should sense more of HIM in the "bigger things". I remember reading of one who even when something was lost around the house would cry out to GOD for help finding that thing lost, and GOD would direct him.
A soul is the most precious thing we can ever handle, or be instrumental in shaping. Brethren take heed lest we wound the wounded, or further blind the blind. Let us endevour to speak what the Spirit allows us to speak, and to hush when He says so.

Concocting our subjective, and sub standardized 'holiness', 'righteousness', 'fruit', are but ashes, ashes, more ashes, putting all the martyr's blood, along with our own, and all the religious charity, are nothing but crumbs in light of the Cross. Gospel preached in accordance to Scripture word for word, assent by the Holy Spirit, called by God's grace, upon belief, one's saved.

Preaching really is not drama or acting, one's style or tone or composure has no inference to it's result. One preaches the Bible, God calls the chosen. Feelings are the last thing one needs considering. Some people respond to hard core screaming, some respond softness and gentleness.
When you feel 'as' you have authority, you don't, just when you feel 'as' you don't authority, God's authority is at work.

Philippians 3:8
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.

Jesse, I don't blame you if your head is spinning around with our critiques and advice. :) Please pray and study a lot, know your Lord first before you go preach anything. One simply cannot preach on any subject one is not familiar with. None of us here is or ever can be your authority. Authority rests with the Author (Holy Spirit). Not in 10k posts.

The Cross, saints, the Cross. Not our so-called fruit, not our unholiness, not our open charity, nor our self-righteousness, but all that is on the Cross.

Never Christ + anything.Christ and Christ alone.

2 Timothy 4:2
Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

R
roadsign

Mamaluk asked Roadsign regarding a comment that those who do not meet needs go to hell:

Where in Scripture?

Mamaluk, I had quoted a teeny tiny portion here: (the full context is Matt 25:31 – 46)
In Matt. 25:31 we read why many will not enter the kingdom: They failed to meet basic needs: “I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat. ….” You know the rest!

I am very aware of the grace/works debates, and that’s why I added:
You just can't have Christ in your life and be blind and uncompassionate at the same time! It's impossible.

What I mean, is that when the Spirit of Christ indwells us, we will see and meet real needs. It seems that Christ recognizes certain works as PROOF of one’s faith, and he totally discounts other works. Let us take heed!

The religious leaders of Jesus day did not have a clue about the real needs of those around them - like those who dragged the adulterous woman through the streets and dropped her in front of Jesus in FRONT OF A CROWD. It is not the way of Christ to deliberately shame a sinner in public. Yet we see “preaching” does just that.

By the way, did you ever notice that in the Bible none of the religious leaders where called “preachers”. We have borrowed the words “preach /preaching” from the Bible and are still using it in the pre-reformation Catholic fashion– where someone stands in front of a group of people and lectures. Really a lot of what is called “preaching” today is not that at all. Conversely, there are many ways of proclaiming the gospel that is authentic preaching, but not labelled as such. (That’s just a stray thought thrown in)

Diane

M
mamaluk

Diane,

Phew, you almost worried me, I thought I misunderstood you a bit. :)

Only thing is, there is a difference between the Kingdom of heaven and the Kingdom of God.
The former provision of salvation is by law while the earthly King was there with them, while the latter is by grace post Ascension.

This is an entirely different subject matter. As long as we don't leave the impression with people that we can save ourselves by works, the validity and the integrity of the Cross is not tainted.

I can be very tolerant, but not when the Cross is openly blasphemed or disguised in any unbiblical way.

Thank you for your response.

R
RevivalArmy

Jesse, you cannot be serious? Do you actually think these videos are "good, solid, biblical preaching" and a good example of what open air preaching should be? Or are you just posting these to stir up controversy? If the former is true, you are totally decieved. If the latter is true, you are full of religious pride. Either way you are in serious error and my heart grieves for you.

I told you in the past that I believe you have hardened yourself against correction and the Lord is handing you over to your own falsity, and I see this is true. I truly fear for you Jesse. This is very sad. The preaching in these videos have absolutely no Holy Ghost unction, no anointing, no power, and no authority. On top of that, they are totally shameful. They stink with cold condemnation and the letter that only kills. Where's the Spirit that brings life? In all of your video clips, you do nothing except preach condemnation and controversial doctrine. You are not even reasoning with sinners using the law, you are only condemning and making them angry all the time. This is absolutely terrible.

Who is going to repent when they heard, "Muslims are wrong! Buddhists are wrong! Hindus are wrong! Jews are wrong!"??? Who is going to come up to you after that and actually say, "You know what, I was a Buddhist, but since you said I am wrong, I am going to repent"? Who is going to repent and turn to Jesus while you're shouting "Hoooolllllyyyyy SSeeeexxxx"??? Who is actually going to say, "You know what, I was a fornicator, but since you shouted holy sex I am going to get married".....let alone repent??? This is terrible!!!

I originally left Open Air Outreach mainly because of my concern over your affiliation with other shameful ministries who use these same shameful tactics in which I cannot be involved in in any way. Now I see though that you are no different from them and that you totally agree with their shame of a preaching. I cannot even rejoice, as Paul said, "that Christ is preached", in this. Christ isn't even preached! Only condemnation! And if Christ was preached it would put His holy name to an open shame because of this craziness. If you're going to continue preaching in the shameful way, do yourself a favor for Judgment Day and don't even dare mention the name of Christ to associate Him with this.

You seriously need to repent of this foolishness. It would do you better to stop preaching altogether, to resign from public ministry, and to fast and pray and earnestly seek the Lord to show you the error of your ways until the veil is lifted from your mind that the wicked one has put there.

"A reproof entereth more into a wise man than a hundred stripes into a fool". - Proverbs 17:10

I have many in mind. But, I don't think of them as street preachers. In my heart I consider them simply men who know there God.

I was very blessed to go out witnessing with a brother from the Philippines. (please forgive me for not remembering his name) He is a husband, a father, and humble child of God. God called him to come over to America for a couple of months as a missionary. He has no car, so he travels on buses from state to state. He open air preaches on the buses if the bus driver says it's ok. He shared with me, his first ministry is intercession and then comes preaching. He shared with me his tears for our nation and the love God gave him for America. He also preaches at churches that are kind enough to take him in.

Here is a man who few know about and few recognize. But, I gaurantee that God knows him and we will see this man rewarded greatly in heaven for his tears and joy in God. Though I cannot remember his name, I know that his name is forever in heaven and is rememebred of God.
Thank you you Jesus for letting me meet this dearly beloved brother.

He came to Livingwaters to go out witnessing with the team on a Friday night. He is very blessed by Ray's ministry. He told me that, when he first heard "hell's best kept seccret" it was nothing new to him. He had already been preaching "law to the proud and grace to the humble".

Sadly, it's mostly here in Amerca (perhaps the capitol country of lukewarmness and false conversion) that "law to the proud and grace to the humble" is such a secret, misunderstood, and rejected.

I also would highly recommend following the example of Gospel For Asia Missionaries!

Watch this video of a man named Joseph. This is a street preacher that I'm sure will put a zeal in our hearts to follow him as he follows Christ.

I have asked Jesse in this thread not to post any more videos on this site, I have gotten his audio sermons up by my prayerfull choice but other materials I will add if I deem it benefical for the site and body that visits here.

If you desire to view the videos and other ones being added you can go to Jesse's site or search for it on youtube.com I think alot of good things were raised but obviously there was alot of "butting heads" over some discussion topics. I thank everyone for your participation in this thread, let us muse on the findings and scriptures, questions, that were raised and deal with these issues between us and the Lord.

I have already stated to Jesse that there is no need to publicize his ministry and materials out of bounds on the forums. I hope that is respected. As everyone knows there really is no "one" ministry that I promote excessively.

You know what I never heard these street preachers ever reference: Matthew 11:28-30, which has to me always been the heart cry of Jesus to the lost:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light".

That is the Heart and the Ministry of Jesus, that is His loving call to a generation that is lost and hurting.

Why don't they ask the crowd to gather round and talk about this Centerpiece heart cry of Jesus?

Why don't they say, that Jesus is the Father who will never leave you, He will never hurt you, He sees the fear in your heart, the fear and the pain that you endeavour to dull with drugs and alcohol and mindless sex that in the end just leaves you more empty and even deeper in pain. He sees the broken relationships with your parents, or those who hurt you. He is the older Brother that will hold your hand in the middle of the night because of the loneliness you feel
in a world gone cold. He is the father Who will give strength, when you feel totally helpless and hopeless. But He only asks one thing, that you say "Yes" to Him, and that you give all the hurt and pain and grief and fear and hate and sinfulness to Him, and He and you will lay them at the Cross of Calvary.

In return, let Him have sway over your heart, so that you can forgive the parents who hurt you, the friends who betrayed you, to love those who despise you, and He will cleanse your heart, and make you meek and humble of heart, poor in spirit, questing only after righteouness and the Kingdom of Heaven, and you will recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit which will free you from the bonds of death, from the fear of death. Say yes to Jesus and He will give you the gift of faith, a childlike faith who's only response is that "I believe God".

Why dont they say this? Why don't they get close to those who they open air preach to? Say it with love and meekness....why don't they do this?

Why don't they realize that the Gospel is a love song melodied from the Heart of a God who had to bear the agony of seeing His Son suffer such horrific torture, both in the garden and at the Cross. The Gospel is a love song from God, not a shrieking hatefilled rant delivered from kids playing with matches?

And the adults that teach these youngsters such "ministry" are just wolves, ravenous and hard-hearted.

Josef, I'm not a preacher, I'm just an artist who has been blessed of God, flawed...oh yes, but I love Jesus, and am eternally grateful that He spoke into my heart and filled me with His Spirit.

When I saw those videos, including the ones that Patrick put up, I was just heartbroken, how many lost souls are driven away by the repugnant spew that pours from the mouths of zealots playing with matches.

In my spirit, and I pray that I'm wrong, Jesse will NOT listen to any Godly advice, he is set like concrete, not hard-hearted, but hard-headed, replacing the zeal that he used to sell dope with the zeal that he "preaches" his "christ", a vengeful god intent on tossing sinners into the lake of fire.

I pray he turns from this course of disaster, I pray I'm wrong about what my heart testifies. The Lord doesn't need another Jed Smock or his ilk, the world is bad enough, we don't need wolves dressing in the Robes of a saint, shrieking condemnation on the harrassed and hapless sheep.
