the machinations of satan are so transparent, so clear that one needs not even to have a finely honed sense of discernment
This is true, brother - for now. But like John the Baptist likened the coming of the true Messiah:
"...but he that cometh after me is mightier than I..."
I believe all these deadly deceivers are but minor prophets and subordinate wolves compared to the true anti-christ "Messiah" who is to come.
This Puerto Rican man is nothing more than your basic, run-of-the-mill cult leader, and most of the world knows it. Secular media knows it. They made a joke of him on public television. Unregnerate men and women know this guy is a sham. But isn't this the way Lucifer operates? Little by little, so seemingly obvious, a measure of poison here, a measure there...until one day you're trapped in his fetters and lead away like a prisoner. When the REAL false messiah comes, all the world will go after him. Many strong, evangelical, conservative Christians will go after him too. He will do awesome miracles, and I believe he will preach the word with unction. Satan is no fool, brother. This will be his ultimate masterwork; he's been working on it for thousands and thousands of years, and when he lifts the canvas from this master painting, all the world (and much of Christianity) will go "ooh!" and "ahh!" Most of Christianity ALREADY oohs and ahhs at the stupid false glitter and vanities of the world! I think every false messiah that has rose up since Jesus' ascension has been but a sporadic tease by hell. Hell's way of testing the water.
Therefore, we must be sober, vigilant, look always to Jesus, mortify sin daily, and immerse ourselves in daily meditation of Holy Scripture. The deadliest thing we can do is laugh and mock Satan: "Is this the best you've got! You're too easy!"
The answer is no, this isn't his best. Not even close. The true antichrist is coming, and I fear some of us even here on SI will not recognize him. I, myself, may not recognize him if I fail to continuously walk in the Spirit and wear the full armour. Oh, saints, this post is for myself, first and foremost!
