Gen 18:18 seeing that Avraham has surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed in him?
Isa 2:2 It shall happen in the latter days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it.
Jer 3:17 At that time they shall call Yerushalayim the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the LORD, to Yerushalayim: neither shall they walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.

Seems abundantly clear to me throughout His Word.
The rabbi Jesus took his blood payment for our sin into the heavenly tabernacle of which Moses made a copy.

I agree with you Mattie which is why I posted the reference in Joshua. I will print it out in full:“And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?”
(Josh 5:13-14 KJVS) This is where Joshua asks the question 'whose side are you on' and gets the answer 'whose side are you on, I am the Captain of the Lord's army'.

As you say to describe God as Jewish is folly., and btw, He isn't Christian either! ;-)

I would remind you that Abram was not a Jew when God chose him. God made the promises to an uncircumcised man, (who had died before his descendant of whom 'Jews' are named, had been born). This is the basis of Paul's thesis on faith, in Romans.

Hi JohnJames4,

Are you a Torah keeping Messianc? What I mean is, do you believe that Torah is still to be kept even today? I have family members that are messianc and I myself have studied much about them. I just wnted to comment on your heading,

God is Jewish!
I must disagree with you on this point and posibly many more. But nevertheless if I do it will be done in a spirit of love.

It is correct that Yeshuah ha Messiah was Jewish. But its also clear that had He stayed only to the Jews you, (I'm Guessing that you are a gentile for most Messianics are), would have no chance for salvation. I would be vary happly to debate you on this subject.

God is Jewish? Gonna have to go with my brothers who said He's on His own side. Abraham was joined to Him . . . just as gentiles have been joined to God through our brother Jesus, well the saved ones LOL (Rom. 11 Full of olive tree stuff). To label God with an earthly name is just not . . . Godly. I mean we're talking about I AM.

And Jesus died for all mankind. Good ol' John 3:16 For God (Jewish and Gentile) so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son (Jesus) that whosoever (all, any, every, the whole)believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

I don't understand my fellow Christian mind today, Jesus said that the Kingdom of God would not come by observation, but the Kingdom of God dwells in man.

The Jewish authority in Jesus's time expected the words of the prophets to be literal, they expected a literal kingdom of God on Earth to sweep them off their feet and bring the totalitarian government of Rome to an end. They were seeing all these things like the Christian believer wants to see them today in the carnal natural understanding of scriptures.

The Christian today like the Jew than, literally believes that Christ will one day come down and split the mount of olives.

What happened on the Mount called Olives in Jesus time??

I wish that there were some people that would step out of the main stream of their denominational thinking and what the creeds say or what the Pastor teaches and just begin to think outside the box for a few moments and allow a hem of truth to begin to saturate their parched land. Just a few water droplets will get the ball rolling in another direction.

If the Jew was expecting these things to naturally come to pass and they were thoroughly disappointed, what makes us any different??

Is God going to except our interpretation of scripture using our carnal understanding, are we better than the Jew?? NO!

For we were considered as dead, without God and without hope, but now that we have been grafted in to the vine, we have been accepted in the beloved. So now there is neither Jew nor gentile, bond or free, as you are all one in Christ Jesus our LORD.

So why are we acting like the Jew of Jesus time? And why are we listening to them today in regards to all these prophecies that THEY say has not come to pass?

Did not Christ come unto His own (the Jew) and His own received Him not?

Did not Christ come at the end of the world?

Hebrews 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

But our carnal mind says, "Oh, this can't be true, my denomination doesn't believe that, because if sin has been put away, why is there still sin?"

Ahhh, still thinking with the carnal mind, and the carnal mind is at enmity with God.

So we dismiss this verse and throw it off in the future, and by doing that we are denying that the LORD ever came and died on a cross to make atonement for the whole wide world.

Oh, in our minds we don't deny Him, but in our creeds and in our beliefs we do.

Wasn't the first church Jewish?
Is there not a tabernacle in Heaven of which Moses copied to prefigure God's sacrifice for our Sin?
Did He not command us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and to heed Gen 12:3?

Hi HealingW

The book says quite plainly that He will, with us after the Rapture, return to the Mt of Olives
And that it will split to make a way of safety to Petra for the Jews left in Jerusalem when under attack by the anti christ

Voolward's Prophecy handbook is quite clear on that as the Word shows and we have been blessed with the Holy Spirit to understand what the early disciples missed.

Is there a 'Jewish' connection here or what?
Old Testament (The Hebrew Scriptures, or Tanach):
EL: God ("mighty, strong, prominent") used 250 times in the OT See Gen. 7:1, 28:3, 35:11; Nu. 23:22; Josh. 3:10; 2 Sam. 22:31, 32; Neh. 1:5, 9:32; Isa. 9:6; Ezek. 10:5. El is linguistically equivalent to the Moslem "Allah," but the attributes of Allah in Islam are entirely different from those of the God of the Hebrews. ELAH is Aramaic, "god." Elah appears in the Hebrew Bible in Jer. 10:11 (which is in Aramaic, and is plural, "gods"). In Daniel (the Aramaic sections) Elah is used both of pagan gods, and of the true God, also plural. Elah is equivalent to the Hebrew Eloah which some think is dual; Elohim is three or more. The gods of the nations are called "elohim." The origin of Eloah is obscure. Elohim is the more common plural form of El. Eloah is used 41 times in Job between 3:4 and 40:2, but fewer than 15 times elsewhere in the OT. See the Catholic Encyclopedia entry on Elohim.

ELOHIM: God (a plural noun, more than two, used with singular verbs); Elohim occurs 2,570 times in the OT, 32 times in Gen. 1. God as Creator, Preserver, Transcendent, Mighty and Strong. Eccl., Dan. Jonah use Elohim almost exclusively. See Gen. 17:7, 6:18, 9:15, 50:24; I Kings 8:23; Jer. 31:33; Isa. 40:1.

EL SHADDAI: God Almighty or "God All Sufficient." 48 times in the OT, 31 times in Job. First used in Gen. 17:1, 2. (Gen. 31:29, 49:24, 25; Prov. 3:27; Micah 2:1; Isa. 60:15, 16, 66:10-13; Ruth 1:20, 21) In Rev. 16:7, "Lord God the Almighty." The Septuagint uses Greek "ikanos" meaning "all-sufficient" or "self-sufficient." The idols of the heathen are called "sheddim."

ADONAI: Lord in our English Bibles (Capitol letter 'L ', lower case, 'ord') (Adonai is plural, the sing. is "adon"). "Master'' or "Lord" 300 times in the OT always plural when referring to God, when sing. the reference is to a human lord. Used 215 times to refer to men. First use of Adonai, Gen. 15:2. (Ex. 4:10; Judges 6:15; 2 Sam. 7:18-20; Ps. 8, 114:7, 135:5, 141:8, 109:21-28). Heavy use in Isaiah (Adonai Jehovah). 200 times by Ezekiel. Ten times in Dan. 9.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JEHOVAH: LORD in our English Bibles (all capitals). Yahweh is the covenant name of God. Occurs 6823 times in the OT First use Gen. 2:4 (Jehovah Elohim). From the verb "to be", havah, similar to chavah (to live), "The Self-Existent One," "I AM WHO I AM" or 'I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE" as revealed to Moses at the burning bush, Ex.3. The name of God, too sacred to be uttered, abbreviated ( . . . . ) or written "YHWH" without vowel points. The tetragrammaton. Josh., Judges, Sam., and Kings use Jehovah almost exclusively. The love of God is conditioned upon His moral and spiritual attributes. (Dan. 9:14; Ps. 11:7; Lev. 19:2; Hab. 1:12). Note Deut. 6:4, 5 known to Jews as the Sh'ma uses both Jehovah and Elohim to indicate one God with a plurality of persons.

JEHOVAH-JIREH: "The Lord will Provide." Gen. 22:14. From "jireh" ("to see" or "to provide," or to "foresee" as a prophet.) God always provides, adequate when the times come.

JEHOVAH-ROPHE: "The Lord Who Heals" Ex. 15:22-26. From "rophe" ("to heal"); implies spiritual, emotional as well as physical healing. (Jer. 30:17, 3:22; Isa. 61:1) God heals body, soul and spirit; all levels of man's being.

JEHOVAH-NISSI: "The Lord Our Banner." Ex. 17:15. God on the battlefield, from word which means "to glisten," "to lift up," See Psalm 4:6.

JEHOVAH-M'KADDESH: "The Lord Who Sanctifies" Lev. 20:8. "To make whole, set apart for holiness."

JEHOVAH-SHALOM: "The Lord Our Peace" Judges 6:24. "Shalom" translated "peace" 170 times means "whole," "finished," "fulfilled," "perfected." Related to "well," welfare." Deut. 27:6; Dan. 5:26; I Kings 9:25 8:61; Gen. 15:16; Ex. 21:34, 22:5, 6; Lev. 7:11-21. Shalom means that kind of peace that results from being a whole person in right relationship to God and to one's fellow man.

SHEPHERD: Psa. 23, 79:13, 95:7, 80:1, 100:3; Gen. 49:24; Isa. 40:11.

JUDGE: Psa. 7:8, 96:13.

JEHOVAH ELOHIM: "LORD God" Gen. 2:4; Judges 5:3; Isa. 17:6; Zeph. 2:9; Psa. 59:5, etc.

JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU "The Lord Our Righteousness" Jer. 23:5, 6, 33:16. From "tsidek" (straight, stiff, balanced - as on scales - full weight, justice, right, righteous, declared innocent.) God our Righteousness.

JEHOVAH-ROHI: "The Lord Our Shepherd" Psa. 23, from "ro'eh" (to pasture).

JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH: "The Lord is There" (Ezek. 48:35).

JEHOVAH-SABAOTH: "The Lord of Hosts" The commander of the angelic host and the armies of God. Isa. 1:24; Psa. 46:7, 11; 2 Kings 3:9-12; Jer. 11:20 (NT: Rom. 9:29; James 5:4, Rev. 19: 11-16).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EL ELYON: 'Most High" (from "to go up") Deut. 26:19, 32:8; Psa. 18:13; Gen. 14:18; Nu. 24:16; Psa. 78:35, 7:17, 18:13, 97:9, 56:2, 78:56, 18:13; Dan. 7:25, 27; Isa. 14:14.

ABHIR: 'Mighty One', ("to be strong") Gen. 49:24; Deut. 10:17; Psa. 132:2, 5; Isa. 1:24, 49:26, 60:1.

BRANCH: (tsemach), The Branch: Zech. 3:8, 6:12; Isa. 4:2; Jer. 23:5, 33:15.

SHAPHAT: "Judge" Gen. 18:25

EL ROI: "God of Seeing" Hagar in Gen. 16:13. The God Who opens our eyes.

KANNA: "Jealous" (zealous). Ex. 20:5, 34:14; Deut. 5:9; Isa. 9:7; Zech. 1:14, 8:2.

PALET: "Deliverer" Psa. 18:2.

YESHA: (Y'shua) "Savior" Isa. 43:3. Jesus is the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew "Joshua." The latter is a contraction of Je-Hoshua. ("Christ", the anointed one is equivalent to the Hebrew Maschiah, or Messiah).

GAOL: "Redeemer" (to buy back by paying a price). Job 19:25; For example, the antitype corresponding to Boaz the Kinsman-Redeemer in the Book of Ruth.

MAGEN: "Shield" Psa. 3:3, 18:30.

Paul talks about being grafted into a tree. He's not talking about the roots of Abraham. He's talking about the roots of God, Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him....The law has passed away it no longer has hold on the dead, Rom 7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? Rom 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. You'll also note that Moses copied God's tabernacle. Your saying because God chose the Jewish race, which were not even called by the name at the time, He then became what they were? So if I, not being a biological Jew, were the king of a Chinese land, and there was a family which stayed on the land who were Jewish. They kept my laws and obeyed my commands more than any other, which pleased me. If I come down from my thrown in China and say to them, "Ye are my chosen people, you keep my laws and obey my commands, therefore I choose you to be my chosen people, I will bless you and protect you, as long as you obey me. So then I mean...that would make me...a..jew...right? Nah We maintain our separate kinship. The people of the land would know that they are my chosen people. Now look at it from God's perspective. Coming down from his SPIRITUAL throne, to the natural and chosing a people. A people that were not spiritual, but natural. How then can you take what they have decided to call themselves and say that is what God is. God is not natural, He is spiritual. God has a throne, that we copy the idea from. God called them to Himself, but they did not become spiritual. If you want a label then go ahead...what you need to understand is God is God. He is above labels. Just because we in our feeble natural minds have decided to try and label what He is does not mean that that is what He is. To me I would rather not have a label. Christian, Jew, I am a child of the Living God. Christian now does not even express to people what I am, as did the word Jew then. You can label yourslef anything you want but that does not make a person what they are. You are still a backslider, drunkard, or anything else. Just be God's child and stop trying to label Him in the natural and realize He is above us and beyond what we can imagine.

I don’t think that there is anything in Scripture that says that God is of any particular culture or nationality. Jesus was clearly at least part Jewish because Mary was Jewish, though the Holy Spirit is “race-less,” if you will. God is separate from having to have a certain profile or skin color. He is Who He is, end of story. He is spirit, and thus body-less. Christ is God in bodily form, but God Himself is spirit (John 4:24).

Brother, I have a lot of sympathy for what you're trying to get at, and there is ignorance of the Christian Jewish foundation of the church (1 Pet 2:6 - 8, Eph 2:14 - 22). But, the fact is, there is no scriptural support for your interpretation - the interpretation which leads you to say 'God is Jewish'.

If He is 'Jewish', it is because the law which He gave under the Old Covenant, which began to define Jewishness and the Jews, began to direct them externally, towards Godliness, which later would be imparted through the Holy Spirit; the law written in our hearts and minds (Heb 8:10, 11), after the establishment of the New Covenant in individual lives of believers.

Romans 2 (KJV)
28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

29 But he [is] a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.

Tyndale's New Testament
For he is not a Jew, which is a Jew outward. Neither is that thing circumcision, which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew which is hid within and the circumcision of the heart is the true cirucmcision, which is in the spirit, and not in the letter, whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Deuteronomy 10:16 (KJV)
Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

Romans 9
3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

4 Who are Israelites; to whom [pertaineth] the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service [of God], and the promises;

5 Whose [are] the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ [came],

2 Cor 5:16
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we [him] no more.

JohnJames4, I could say more, but, I would like to know what you make of Paul's insertion of 'the adoption', first in his list of what the Israelites are eligible for.

(I hope you recognise the term 'adoption', from Ephesians and earlier in Romans?)

I look forward to your reply. :-)

Eze 39:27 when I have brought them back from the peoples, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations.
Eze 39:28 They shall know that I am the LORD their God, in that I caused them to go into captivity among the nations, and have gathered them to their own land; and I will leave none of them any more there;
Eze 39:29 neither will I hide my face any more from them; for I have poured out my Spirit on the house of Yisra'el, says the Lord GOD.

The fact is- the whole Bible is scriptual support that God is Jewish both now [ I and my Father are one] and forever [ New Jerusalem ]

Hello JohnJames,

if I may ask a couple of questions just to clarify a couple of things.

When did the tribe of Abraham become known as Jewish? They were called Hebrews originally if I am not mistaken. What act on behalf of the patriarchs changed the way in which God referred to them.

What was the symbolism of God saying that he is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and not Abraham, Isaac, and Israel?

What in OT made someone particularly 'Jewish'? Was it temple(tabernacle) worship or circumcision, keeping the law..etc?

Abraham had other tribes under Ishmael as well.

You could say Semite, Hebrew, Judean, Jewish from across the river...etc, Much difference between citzens of Heaven?
BUT the Boss has a body raised in His land from His soil and by the will of the Father .. and it is in Heaven!
God is the God of the Living, both this side and the other
Have you read the Book of Ezekiel? Revelations? The prophets? , and seen the continual Jewish plan for us all?
Replacement theology ends up in the ditch.

Lk 1:32,33
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David,
33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.”

Replacement theology ends up in the ditch.

So God is going to turn back on His word and again turn to an individual ethnic group called the Jews?

(Romans 10:12 For there is "no difference" between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.)

According to this verse, God sees no difference between the Jew or the Gentile, in other words, God sees nothing wrong in connecting the circumcision with uncircumcision in His body because He sees them as both the same.

If that is what is being transmitted, than God has two bodies instead of the one Christ?

Did two people die on the cross to atone for sin, one for the Jew and the other for the Gentile?

God looks upon His new creation, the second Adam - the LORD from heaven. His grace and favour rests on Him, not any ethnic group, those who are connected to the Son is one Spirit.

To say that He favours one over the other is erroronous, "For there is no difference".

I have one question for you.

When Peter and Paul referred to the LAST DAYS as being in their day, why is it that you refer to what they have said as present tense to be present tense in our day??

JohnJames4,

In your opening post, you said

I am a wild olive
This seems to suggest you're hazy about what Paul is saying in Romans 11. Because if you weren't you wouldn't still be describing yourself as a wild olive..... now you've been grafted into the 'good olive tree' (KJV) or 'true olive tree' (Wm Tyndale)

Romans 11:24
For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?

Isn't the 'olive tree' Christ and His being the Vine through whom we bear fruit and without whom we can do nothing (John 15), rather than ethnic Jewishness?

Of course, there are ethnic Jews in the Vine, just as they are part of the one fold under the one Shepherd (John 10), which is also an Old Testament picture.

Do you see what I'm getting at.... the spiritual dimension of what God has done and is doing for all believers?
