Dismissal from SI

S
sermonindex

Mike one of the moderators PM me and said these words

Warning: If you post something of that nature again here you will be removed.

I started this thread probably due to the fact that I will probably be dismissed.

But mainly to for the purpose of how far can we go on SI before being dismissed.

Let me explain:

As a few know, I do not post all the time, I rarely come to this site, and when I do, I read quite a bit.

I wrote in a forum called, "Calling Jesus Lover, inapropriate". The words I used in there are the same words we use today in our every day lingo.

Jesus would tell a story in the natural to convey a Spiritual truth, I was doing the same thing.

The MOD deleted the post, and sent me a PM giving me a warning.

The warning was very sharp I might add. I have never gotten a warning before on this site.

Thus, I am concerned as to why I wasn't taken aside by the MODs and asked:

"Karl, We want you to know that we the MOD and Greg have taken offence to your last post in the said forum. We feel that it was inapproproite to leave it, and therefore we had to remove it. We are consulting you because we know that it wasn't your attention to be gross or profane, but we cannot have such wording on SI. I am sure you'll understand our reasons."

This is where the rubber meets the road.

If I had of posted something similiar, than I should have received a warning such as was given to me today.

Does that seem logical to anyone?

Family members, your input is greatly appreciated.

Karl, love,

Mike, Greg, just let it go, lets move on.

It's unfair of me to comment on the action of the MOD as I didn't see your post. However, it does seem to me that they have warned you and given you a reason why. Maybe they have not got the time for a more pleasent response, maybe they are harassed and you got them at a bad time.
The point is we all make mistakes, as Bartle says we must forgive and move on.
I was warned early on about a post and I learned from my mistake. That was months ago and I'm still here.
You are a valuable member here and I am sure if you follow the advice and warning of the MODs then you will have many more oppertunities to express your love of the Lord and help us through the lessons He has taught you.

Remember God wants us humble so He can speak to us.

Karl,
With all due respect, you have answered the warning yourself with your own, modified, warning.

I saw the post in question. You use the words 'gross' and 'profane' in your own wording. The moderators never did. Which shows you know why it was removed.

Now we are all the wiser, let's move on as suggested.

We want revival, not disputes. God bless.

S
sermonindex

Karl... you know I love ya, bro... but in this instance you are handling this completely wrong.

They warned you privately and did not make a public issue of the "offense" (I didnt see it... thus I use quotations because I have no idea what was written)...

However, now you have taken something private and made it public, and that is scripturally wrong because you should have at first taken it up with them in a private manner.

Freedom of speech does not extend to privately operated forums such as this. For instance, the mods have made it clear that profanity will not be tolerated here. Thats their right. It is also their right to decide what kind of speech is appropriate and/or inappropriate... and it matters not if you agree with them in their judgement. Fact is, if someone can not abide by the rules, then they can find another forum because the rules of the forum are plainly laid out.

Karl, I truly hope that y'all can work this out and you dont get dismissed. I think you are a good addition to the community here. I think you need to dig down inside and find some humility. This thread was started more as an issue of your pride than anything else.

Hard words? Perhaps... but I say it with as much love as I possibly can.

Krispy said

There was no profanity, and what I said in my post was not gross. I used those words as a possible reason for the deletion.

I am not concerned about being dismissed, what I am concerned about is I would like to know what was so offensive?

I sit here in awe as to what was so bad about the post where several members have agreed with it.

Picture Jesus talking about the things that were making the Jews mad. The Jews warned Him NOT to continue, but He continues even to this day.

Thats how I feel, the warnings are not offensive to me.

At the same time, I sit here wondering what was so offensive? What was so bad? Thats what I would like to know.

As regarding discretion, Mike deleted the post and used the open forum to vent his distaste before he sent me the warning. Whether Mike or I is at fault, it doesn't really matter, what matters is what Greg wants, it's his website.

Steven, thanks for your letter of correctiveness, I appreciate it very much.

Again, I ask the same questions, what was so offensive, what was so bad?

Karl, Krispy is right the issue here is your pride, Jesus spoke out of authority AND humility, you are talking from neither, Please let it go, if you keep on posting then people will just ignore you, which will put you in your place, we are on this forum to help and to learn, not to try to get our opinions across onto others.

It's not a problem to think to yourself that you are a lover of God. It's a blasphemous problem when one says that he loves Him but carries no reverence to His name, for such is NOT love but hellish blasphemy. What kind of a child will call his human parents "LOVERS" ???? If one loves HIM, one will naturally obeys and follows HIS precepts, especially in light of addressing HIM with much reverence. HE is not santa clause !!

Exodus 20:7
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Leviticus 21:6
They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God:

Ezekiel 36:23
And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

Ezekiel 36:20
And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land.

Malachi 1:6
6A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

Psalms 111:9
9He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: HOLY and REVERNED is his name.

The name of the Christian God is The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. No other name, there is NOT a choice. Whoever claims His Blood, had better proclaim the honor and reverence of His Name.

Mike Balog, whoever won't respect and honor God will for sure not respect you or anyone else.

I simply asked Mike to give you a warning with the content of your post. The way you talked about "sexual intercourse" and using that has a allegory of Christ is wrong and not suitable discussion on sermonindex. I think you can simply refrain from talking about that subject matter and discuss other things on sermonindex, its simple.

Please don't carry on a controversy there is no need. As "bartle" said "love" lets just keep our eyes on Christ and discuss things that are suitable for everyone on this site. You are free to hold some opinions and thoughts that need not be shared with everyone.

what if this mantle or a similar one has been passed on to mamaluk? i think we tend to be most presumptuous concerning such things as callings assuming that it's not God; what if it is?

we tend to ask "what if it's not God?" brethren that is an easy question to ask, we oft conclude whatever it is we're asking about not to be of Him then we chill and nothing changes. what if it ISGod though?

it seems to me that is a harder question to ask/consider because if it is indeed God, it means we have to do something different than what we are doing now and we don't like change much i'm finding. i'm sure in those days many people thought Elijah to be a some sort of hellspawn. Jesus Himself was accused of casting out demons by the power of Baal...i guess the pharisees in their wisdom asked themselves "what if this isn't God?", proceded to conclude it wasn't and were lost to hell unless they repented.

are we guilty of the same thing the pharisees were?

i don't think mamaluk was calling down fire but pointing out that ultimately God will judge not only this little issue but He will judge us all because He is Holy. Also we ought not lose sight of His Holiness lest we treat Him in any way unworthy of Him and risk kindling His anger.

bro Krispy you bring up a good point in that we ought to have zeal but it ought to be tempered by God and channeled by Him. i think also though that we should be sure from God's standpoint what it is to have Godly zeal vs being a zealot.

i wonder if we would have been like the pharisees had we lived in those days?

Thank you Greg for your timely post, I appreciate it.

Though, I never used the words "sexual intercourse" in my post. When I was writing that those words did cross my mind, but I refused to use them as some find the words offensive so I held my peace.

I just wished that some of the post had of been saved because there was other very good stuff that was not related to the above.

But thanks for the post Greg, even though I respect your convictions, yet my convictions is that what I have said was right, perhaps I should have re-worded it more. But I won't do it here, I want to move on to other forums and discussions.

To others who have written thank you for your comments. I only ask that SI MODs accept my deepest apologies for causing any offences that I might have caused.

IRONMAN... mamaluk and I have had some great discussions, and I was in no way trying to insult or put down mamaluk. We live in the church age, and prophets such as Isaiah and Elijah are no longer on the agenda... and wont be until the Tribulation.

With all due respect to mamaluk, I felt that her post was doing more to inflame the controversy than anything else. I've known Karl for a long time, and I know that a soft and wisely spoken word of rebuke would turn his heart. I think Karl's recent response to Greg shows that. (By the way Karl... thank you for being receptive to Greg! I didnt want to see you dismissed!)

If mamaluk's words were truly God's words (and she didnt claim that they were, please note that), or in God's timing... then Karl's heart and attitude would have turned then.

I think what I am trying to say is that before we all call down fire and brimstone on someone, let's try and reason together. Let's use understanding. Since I never saw what Karl wrote, I had to assume that Mike and Greg were valid in that being offended. I've never seen either of these guys be unreasonable with anyone who stopped and considered their points... and they have warned me in the past as well. And after slowing down and considering what they had to say to me, they were right. So in this case I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I trust them.

Did Karl handle this in the wrong way? Yep... but ya know what? We all get a little sideways sometimes. When we write something publicly, we need to be ready to take the heat publicly. I'm a football coach, and their isnt a more thankless job in the world other than politics. When I'm critisized publicly my natural response is to lash out publicly to protect myself... but when you boil it down it is really all about pride. It takes a lot to suck it up and deal with it the way the Lord wants us to.

So Karl had a little problem with his pride. I know there isnt a single person on this forum who hasnt had this problem at times. I know I do.

So in the words of Jesus... let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

... but make sure you cast it at me first, cuz if y'all wanna get to my beloved brother Karl... ya gotta get thru me first! ;-)

And mamaluk... I apologize if you feel like I targetted you. I love ya! I just did not agree with the comdemning tone of your post. Karl is worthy of hellfire... but arent we all? Praise the Lord we've been set free.

I say we all move on to other tropics...

Karl said

Greg, I saw the post and it is true.

I would add that nothing was said which is not compatible with this scripture:

(NASB) Romans 1:20
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made...

I'm sure, when you think about the meaning of this verse, you will find other verses which concur with it. That's what was being elucidated; that's what I understood from what was most eloquently said in a word 'sketch'.

Last evening I had prepared a longer post, but was, like MikeB, having connection problems. Perhaps this was of the Lord, though, as I came to the conclusion that the underlying issue is different than it first appears ...

... I realised this (dicussion) is not about what is or isn't in scripture explicitly or implicitly. It is about your (moderators plural) preference that certain scriptures, and topics which may naturally arise from them, should not be discussed on SI.

This - a simple rule - is much easier to receive (by me, at least), if thus clarified, rather than in the terms by which its justification was presented (in this case):

.. foolishness.... that isn't stated (emphasis mine)..... idiocy .... Is nothing sacred..... contaiminated by absurd notions ...
The post in question had none of these, if and when read objectively.

However, I see and do accept you're concerned people can't do this - that they don't do this ..... and maybe you're right. Sigh.

I submit these thoughts in a genuine attitude of consolation to us all.

(Btw, I didn't see the post which followed, which was also deleted. Nothing I've said above, therefore, can be applied to it as if I had, please.)

i didn't think you were trying to insult mamaluk at all, i just thought it was rather presumptuous to assume that mamaluk may not be a prophet. the point i was getting at was that most of the time that is our default assumption and it is no different from the days of old when Israel was sent prophets and they didn't change or repent.

If mamaluk's words were truly God's words (and she didnt claim that they were, please note that), or in God's timing... then Karl's heart and attitude would have turned then.

not necessarily, remember the pharisees and how Christ spoke to them and they didn't repent. we know that Christ spoke as the Father wanted Him to speak and even then the pharisees remaind staunch.

When I'm critisized publicly my natural response is to lash out publicly to protect myself... but when you boil it down it is really all about pride. It takes a lot to suck it up and deal with it the way the Lord wants us to.

hey bro this is a ctitical piece of wisdom here, it boils down to pride in such instances. our Lord has brought me to a point where is someone says something to me which would wound my flesh, somehow it goes in one ear and out the other. then later on it comes to remembrance at a later time when i can't do any harm to the offending party. by then the thought of such doesn't even cross my mind (thank you Father, Son and Holy Spirit)

And mamaluk... I apologize if you feel like I targetted you. I love ya! I just did not agree with the comdemning tone of your post. Karl is worthy of hellfire... but arent we all? Praise the Lord we've been set free.

IRONMAN... I'm glad that you and I have such a love and respect for each other that we can disagree on things and still set an example of how we dont let it tear each other apart.

The only thing I think I disagree with your post on is about the words and the timing. I understand what your saying, but I maintain that before we harshly rebuke someone we need to try and understand the person, and where they are at.

For instance, I have a history with Karl, and he has shared some things with me privately that he probably hasnt with many others. Based on that, I know that in this instance where he seemed to be getting a little side tracked with this issue, a gentler rebuke was in order.

I'm not dismissing anyone who may be used as a mouthpiece for God. I do not believe in prophets like the OT are for today, or like we see in the WOF and Charismatic Movement. However, I do believe God can and does use each of us at times to speak thru us. Scripture tells us that when we are under the spotlight to not worry what to say because God will give us the words. He's done that with me many times. But along with that must come wisdom to know what is God's words, and what are our own. Sometimes we all tend to use zealousness instead of wisdom.

Jesus used harsh words, but only when He was rebuking the enemies of God. Karl is not an enemy of God, he is a precious child of God.

The only thing I think I disagree with your post on is about the words and the timing. I understand what your saying, but I maintain that before we harshly rebuke someone we need to try and understand the person, and where they are at.

oh indeed and of course if one feels unctioned to do so, then one must speak as he is lead of God.

Sometimes we all tend to use zealousness instead of wisdom.

so what then is the difference between the O.T. prophet and the N.T. prophet? is the definition of what prophecy is different in the N.T. vs O.T?
how come paul admonishes us to covet prophecy as a gift? if God saw fit to send prophets out to warn His people of a need for repentance back then, why would He not do so now? are we not in need of repentance any more? should we not be repenting that much more becausewe are under grace? just seems to me we will be judged that much more harshly because the blood which covers us (or should cover us) is not of bulls and rams but the precious blood of Christ and i don't think God is playing when it comes to that.

Jesus used harsh words, but only when He was rebuking the enemies of God. Karl is not an enemy of God, he is a precious child of God.

what about when Christ rebuked Peter saying "get behind me satan!" peter was certainly a child of God, he was the chief disciple yet what he said was from the enemy and Christ rebuked him. Does God not chasten and rebuke as many as He loves, even harshly so. i think of how He dealt with certain ones in Israel, like David and so on and the nation of Israel itself. if God didn't spare them rebuke, how much less will He spare us gentiles especially because we have been bought by Precious Blood?

B
beenblake

It is a sad day today to see a fellow brother leave. I do not know the totality of the situation, but I hope and pray that Karl left in accord with God's leading, whether it was initiated by him or the moderators.

I don't like to see division in the Church, especially in such a matter as this. Should we really be in debate because one person's love for their Lord is expressed or seen with different eyes than ours? What is important is that we give ourselves to Christ. This is love, that God gave His only son. Likewise, our love comes in giving ourselves to God in thanksgiving. There are many metaphors on earth where this can be related or expressed. We should have a bit more respect for others than to cast stones because they do not use the "language" we choose.

Likewise, where is the humility in Christ's disciples? Where are the students? Where are the ones called unto submission?

The elders in the Church can no longer lead and the teachers can no longer teach because the disciples rebel against every elder and every teacher. The teacher teaches, and the students leave to find a teacher who says what tickles the ear. How can Christ ever work in such a system? The Holy Spirit has given gifts, Christ has called each to different ministries, and if we shall close our hearts in our own way, then how can the workers work?

Did not Paul say we should not scoff at prophecies? We should test them. Too many people immediately reject teachings without giving them any thought or prayer.

Jesus said we should not throw pearls to swine. If anyone is not listening, or willing to listen, then why debate? Such debates become a battle over who is right, and cease to be about learning and growing.

None of us are right, and we all can learn from one another. Do not grandparents learn from children? Christ lives in us and we all have something to share. We are a body who needs one another.

We should be humble. Let us listen before we speak. Those who moderate do so in order to serve us. They are watching over a flock, not merely one person. They should not cater only to the needs of one individual, but the needs of all. If we say something that is offensive, whether it is right or wrong, consider the weight or importance of our words. Is it worth the offense? Is this the will of God that we should stir such dissension? There may be times when we are called to stand up for Christ, when Pharisees will take offense to what we say and seek to kill us. However, is one of those times?

Does not anyone consider that this is a public forum? These words we write will be read by anyone and everyone. The world will judge us for every word we say. If the world judges us so harshly, is that not all the more reason for the Church to lift up one another in humility?

So rarely do we ever find humility in these forums. Why is that? What are we trying to prove? Are we trying to share Christ in love, or are we trying to justify our own case? If we are speaking for Christ, then all the power comes from Christ. It is up to Christ to make the words speak to His people. We can only be the hands by which He works. Christ needs only to speak once, and if that person is willing to accept His teaching, they will hear. If not, they will not hear.

If we are not abandoned to Christ, then He cannot use us. You may have Christ in you, but that does not mean in every minute you are abandoned to Him. You can still act on your own, and you will. You will say things that are wrong, and you will make mistakes. So let us be forgiving of one another, and make offerings of love. Let us offer what God lays on our heart, but let us not try to force it upon anyone. If the offering we give to others is truly from Christ, and it is rejected, then the rest is for Him to decide. We can only offer the message.

In humility, I ask everyone involved to pray. Let us not argue. Let our mouths be silenced and our hearts crying. This is a sad day. Division has arisen, and this means that Christ is absent. Let us all seek after our Lord during this time and pray for our assembly here on SermonIndex. We have been attacked by the Devil. Let us call upon the Lord for aid.

Let us all be humbled, and give ourselves to Christ. May His will be done in this. May His grace flow upon us in abundance, and His light shine through us.

With love and concern,

Whew! That is a wonderful -for the seller! lol Wish we could get much for them! But, yes, we do depend on the LORD for blessing our production and for giving us customers.

We grow greenhouse varieties because garden varietes do not produce well under short day conditions which is what you have in the wintertime. This year we planted Quest and Geronimo, new varieties for us. Flavor is determined a lot by sunlight and fertilization. When the days get long and the sun gets warmer, like in the spring, the fruit gets sweeter. Actually the best part of the tomato is the blossom end, the opposite end of the core. If I could do as I'ld want I would just cut off the blossom end and discard the rest!

Have a good day - with a good tomato! lol

I hope and pray that Karl left in accord with God's leading, whether it was initiated by him or the moderators.
Blake,

Knowing Karl, he certainly would have had the Lord's leading.

the students leave to find a teacher who says what tickles the ear. How can Christ ever work in such a system? The Holy Spirit has given gifts, Christ has called each to different ministries, and if we shall close our hearts in our own way, then how can the workers work?
Karl was giving an explanation of Rom 1:20, but he didn't quote that all-encompassing verse which might have given him some protection. As far as I can see, the 'problem' arose because, as he said in a post earlier in this thread, the person who read the post didn't understand it, then, someone who hadn't read the post asked for it to be deleted. Both these brethren have misquoted the original post, and neither of them have come back to say so (at least), or apologise (at best).

On (my) reflection today, there seems to be no consistent 'method' of dealing with these situations. For instance, if there was a system for a post to be taken out of the public forum and discussed privately, so the poster could give further explanation and add or subtract to make a point clearer or less emotive (to the person objecting to it), then this way, it might have been dealt with more agreeably.

But Karl will have found himself in a cleft stick, because for the want of a couple of words which he didn't use, or a phrase which might have clarified the order he had in mind, to alter the meaning of his original post he would be denying the meaning of scripture (of which he is a masterful expositor in his own way, and knows it well of old).

Earlier in the thread, Krispy guessed at the possibility pride was involved. Possibly, this provoked your comments about humility. It is also possible that your references to elders and students could be read the other way round than you might have had in mind. This would also be appropriate.

(Young) Galatians 6:6
And let him who is instructed in the word share with him who is instructing--in all good things.

For this to work, there needs to be mutual trust, and time, and a willingness to receive from those who have something to give.

Division has arisen, and this means that Christ is absent.
I think you have to remember that SI is NOT a church, no matter how much some people depend on it to fill the absence of a church in their lives.

This has implications in all directions for the matter of submission, which (according to OC) is only possible between equals. Yes, we are ALL in the Body of Christ, but SI is not a local assembly, and if the 3D working of SI is to be effective in the place of a local assembly, then the weight of control has to continue to gravitate towards the Holy Spirit, and less to man (though of course, we all should be obeying the Spirit's prompting to share our 'bread').

Let us all seek after our Lord during this time and pray for our assembly here on SermonIndex.
Amen. May the Lord have His way.

We have been attacked by the Devil.
Truly, I have never felt so despondent about a situation on SI, even previously, when people I know and love were dismissed. I'm not willing to say this is the Devil's work, though, but if it is, then we need to close ranks and stand on the Rock.... together.

May His will be done in this. May His grace flow upon us in abundance, and His light shine through us.
Amen.

Blake, you have a way of working over a topic which is helpful. Thank you for your post and for being faithful to your calling.

Krispy,

You will gather I don't believe Karl's pride was the heart of this issue.

SI is NOT a church,….. SI is not a local assembly

Dorcas, I would like to comment on this one point, if I may: In this age our “local” churches are not nearly as local as they used to be. People come from all a wide area – even distant towns. So I feel that geography is not a criterion in defining a church.

Surely SI is a local community – based on the connection of its members, even though it is virtual. I believe that the same checks and balances that God has hard-wired into the local body applies to SI – that is, the Biblical guidelines, the various gifts, offices, different services, or whatever. Churches typically don’t make the best use of them, and rarely have.

For example, God has provided elders - those who have true spiritual authority because they have walked with the Lord for years, and have deeper insight than many others. They are there to offer much-needed guidance, but are all-too-often ignored. And so, failing to consult the elders, fractures happen needlessly . Actions are taken and words are spoken in the heat of the moment – when emotions and opinions are strong. (I’m speaking generally).

God is every bit as interested in using SI for his glory as any other faith community. And he can see the hidden cracks better than anyone. He’ll just keep on working at it. We’ve been around the mountain now a few times on these things, and, I suspect, that God will take us around the mountain as many times as is needed for his children to “get it”.

Please, I’m not pointing fingers – because there is something for all of us to “get”. After all, we carry our blind spots into own families, jobs, churches, etc.

While harmonious fellowship is a blessing that we crave, God has much more in mind. He is moving us forward, but we tend not to understand it, or see the need. It typically gets rocky because we resist, not because the devil is playing games with us.

If we fail to value the fire, then the tragedy would not be a lost member as much as the lessons that never got learned.

Time to break the silence...
This is what happens when people intrude on things they have no idea what they are talking about. I have run out of patience and compassion and charity I am sure...

Dorcas, you are as wrong as could be. You are making a lot of assumptions and turning this whole thing into one giant psychobabble.

I realised this (dicussion) is not about what is or isn't in scripture explicitly or implicitly. It is about your (moderators plural) preference that certain scriptures, and topics which may naturally arise from them, should not be discussed on SI.

Nonsense. The point of the matter is that something that needs to be left alone needs to be left alone. Period. Greg explained the situation exactly as it was and is. How difficult is it to see that a continuation by way of over explanation is only serving to drive an issue that needs to die first before it can even be thought to have a corrective. It applies foremost to the galling thing, this Jesus as 'lover' blaspheme and even this here, this constant want to have to explain every last thing.

Karl left of his own volition. When will you stop explaining what every one is thinking or saying? What this site is or is not, what the mods are doing, on and on it goes. Leave it alone.

This whole matter from beginning to end could be summarized in this;

for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Mike, believe me, I don't enter into this discussion with a lightness of heart. As I indicated in my last post, I have never felt so disheartened on behalf of SI, by the assumptions you have made in this case.

It is not as if you don't know Karl of longstanding - of his understanding of scripture and his spiritual gift of exposing the panorama of underlying truths. You know he is a true brother in the Lord, and yet you have not treated him as one whom you hoped to win - not even posted a question to him privately; you felt so sure of your ground you deleted his post before even contacting him?

Diane has written of the 'SI community', and many times we are falling over ourselves with each other to draw out the strands of a doctrine which will not make any difference to our salvation if we know the Lord already. Karl tried to draw out the truth in the 'Jesus as lover' construct, and you didn't 'see' it. You didn't hear him. And you ab-reacted more strongly than I've ever seen.

As an observer of this moment in SI history, I am in a positon to ask for some account, since you have not followed the constraints you seek to place on everyone else in light of the many previous occasions of possible misunderstandings.

Please note, if Karl had been defending the concept as it was presented in Andrew Strom's article which headed the other 'Jesus as LOVER' thread, I would not be contending this way.

I hope you know me better than this - that I, as much as you, (and Karl, and everyone else), am keen for the value of scripture to be embraced by our spiritual understanding.

(Young) 2 Timothy 3:15, 16
... the Holy Writings thou hast known, which are able to make thee wise--to salvation, through faith that [is] in Christ Jesus;

every Writing [is] God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for setting aright, for instruction that [is] in righteousness,

How difficult is it to see that a continuation by way of over explanation is only serving to drive an issue that needs to die first before it can even be thought to have a corrective.
By my response so far, you see that I disagree. Being completely candid, the thing 'that needs to die' is your misapprehension of what Karl wrote.

Are you forgetting that I did read Karl's post?

(And my post, (which you did not delete), tried to draw out the distinction between his words and the matter under discussion in the first 'Jesus as LOVER' thread.)

This leads to another question:

Do you still have access to Karl's original text?

If so, you will be able to note that he did not use a certain word which both you and Greg have "quoted" him as using.

Of course, if you can't access his words any more, you won't be able to reconsider the validity of his meaning. But, I see the failure to restore his credibility on the point of how you've quoted him, as a very serious matter....... The more so, because what he actually said did not even imply what you have represented it to.

As a text-based ministry, it should not be possible to misquote someone ever. But if it has been possible completely to lose access to his words - which at least you could have quoted accurately to him in private - this technical matter should be rectified asap for the sake of us all. I'm sure it could be, for it is unacceptable to misrepresent anyone like this - even if you continue to feel justified in your assumptions about a poster's meaning.

As I believe, I did understand his post, and know it was not saying what you are putting forth, I will stand on the side of righteousness on behalf of your own, as much as of his.

It applies foremost to the galling thing, this Jesus as 'lover' blaspheme
Earlier in the original thread, p2, Diane quoted Charles Wesley's hymn, 'Jesus, lover of my soul, let me to Thy bosom fly' and did not receive any comment about it. Why not? I will patiently wait for your answer.

When will you stop explaining what every one is thinking or saying?
Well, you are thinking and saying things which are from your own mind, and you are attributing them to Karl.

I comment because there is valid observation to be made.

I would like to see you take ownership of your concerns and divide between what you think Karl said and what he did say.

for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Mike, there is a world of difference between the relevance of this verse in scripture in context and what is happening here, in this thread.

Please note, I am not attempting to restate Karl's thought. I am driving at the issues which have arisen from your dealings with it: in the first instance, the need for honesty regarding the misquote of the content of his post.

Whereas Karl may be willing to leave with his reputation in tatters because of how you've misrepresented him, I am not willing to let this pass. What may have passed between you guys in private, I have no idea and (obviously, I hope) cannot comment, but, on what I have seen and know, I can and do. This is not a matter of not savouring the things of God. This is about a standard of righteousness which can be seen and commended by all.

Elders sometimes makes mistakes. Sometimes they make very public mistakes. But elders also have unique gifts given to enable them to fulfill their role. They sometimes have information that they cannot share and sometimes discernment that they cannot share either. Sometimes they have a spiritual 'gut reaction' which they cannot explain fully which tells them when a line has been crossed that must be addressed.

We will all have to give an account of our own words on SI but our moderators will have to give an account to God for what they permitted on the whole site. This is a very onerous responsibility and one which should attract our prayer. Eldership can only work in an atmosphere of mutual trust. When this breaks down decisions have to be made. In a church setting a man or woman who cannot trust the spirit of the oversight has to find the grace to do so or move on. The same is true of this website.

"I am not willing to let this pass" is not a suitable response to those to whom God has trusted us. It is the spirit of protest and rebellion. That does not mean that an aggrieved person cannot address the oversight but such a person can never address the oversight publicly with that spirit. It is the shrill response of one who will be heard whatever the consequences.

This particular thread began with the words...I started this thread probably due to the fact that I will probably be dismissed.

But mainly to for the purpose of how far can we go on SI before being dismissed.

Family members, your input is greatly appreciated. That ought to have warned us that this thread could only be divisive and the earliest replies were unanimous in their counsel 'let it go'. When we set up a situation in which the saints are effectively invited to take sides in which one will be "puffed up for one against another" we ought not to be surprised when it happens.

Margaret Thatcher once denied terrorists 'the oxygen of publicity'. It has merit as course of action. Personally, I would recommend that the thread is locked and that any further conversations take place where they ought to have taken place... in private emails.

Dear KrispyK

You are too funny!!

I stayed away for awhile, and just now realized that I was "insulted" as if I thought I were Elijah. Hahah, I like that, seeing my name next to Elijah's!! No, no insults at all, no one can ever insult me because in the flesh, I'm NOTHING, in spirit, I'm in CHRIST, only not to insult GOD.

Praise God!

What does it matter what you call me, say to me, insult me, disrespect me, mock me, hate me, love me. NONE matters, but may I insist, if not with Scriptures, with my own silly words, please do hold on tight to the glory of GOD's and HIS holy name, no matter what.

To love HIM, is to obey HIM by honoring and reverencing HIM THE WAY HE COMMANDS!!!

Let's glorify God in our heavenly church with this traditional doxology:

"Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him all creatures here below,
Praise Him above ye heavenly host,
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost...Amen! "

the false Elijah, indeed I am, Praise God, I'm nothing, HE is ALL !
