If you could keep only three books other than the Bible what might they be? I believe mine would be;E.M. Bounds "On Prayer, Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan and Lectures on Revival by Charles Finney. God bless, John
If you could keep only three books........
Mine would be A. W. Tozer "Knowledge of the Holy," John Eldgredge "Wild At Heart," and C.S. Lewis "Chronicles of Narnia." Great thread. Good idea.

The three other books I would believe to be essential if I could have only four is:

Mine will be:

And if one author can be added as just one book, I'll say that all George Warnock's books may be packed on my cuitcase. ;-)
Ooops, Double Post...
Hmmm...Besides the Bible,
1.)Rees Howells: Intercessor
2.)The Pursuit of God - Tozer
3.)The Christian in Complete Armour - William Gurnall (though I am only half way through it)
But, I love all of the classics. Has anyone else read Ress Howells: Intercessor? Ravenhill recommended it in one of his sermons. I am really inspired by the life of Mr. Howells.
Also, I heard that Tozer wrote the entire book, "The Pursuit of God" on a single train ride. Has anyone else heard this?

Three books besides the KJV:
1) Purpose in Prayer by EM Bounds
2) Spurgeon Gold by Ray Comfort
3) Great Soul Winners Who Were Filled With The Holy Spirit by John R Rice
1) Cross and the Switchblade-David Wilkerson
2) Necessity of Prayer-EM Bounds
3) Seven Pentecostal Pioneers-Colin Whitaker
I will probably replace #3 on this list with Christian in Complete Armour by William Gurnall, but I can't truly say that having only read about the first 30 pages so far!
1.)The Bible
2.)"The Spiritual Man"-Watchman Nee
3.)"One Thing You Can't Do In Heaven"-Mark Cahill
1) Practice of the Presence of God - Brother Lawrence
2) Let Us Pray - Watchman Nee
3)Sermons of Jonathan Edwards - Jon Edwards
Runners Up: Journals of George Whitefield, Morning by Morning - Spurgeon, Christ of the Indian Road - E. Stanley Jones, and The autobiography of Wiliam Booth.

I Pet 4:2
Also, I heard that Tozer wrote the entire book, "The Pursuit of God" on a single train ride. Has anyone else heard this?
Yes, that is true, he did write it in one train trip, the Lord overshadowed that dear servant to help him compile perhaps one of the best works given to the church in the last 60 years. I know many lifes that have been mightly impacted by that small volume including myself.
1)They Found the Secret by V. Raymond Edman
2)The Best of A.W. Tozer
3)Gunfight at the O K Corral by Stuart Lake (just kidding)
Real #3)The Gospel of Healing by A.B. Simpson
1. Holy Bible: King James Version
2. Matthew Henry's Commentary (in one volume)

Mr _CKP :
3.)"One Thing You Can't Do In Heaven"-Mark Cahill
I am curious: what does the author of this book say is the one thing you cannot do in heaven?
Thanks!
ginnyrose
Hi Ginny, I just picked this book up after listening to the audio book on the author's website.
The one thing is witness to unbelievers. it has been great in challenging me to talk to people about Jesus and tell them the Gospel.
if you want to check him out, Greg has some of his sermons on Sermon Index.
his website is markcahill.com
Heh.
I'd choose firstly the Oxford English Dictionary, 2nd edition, the complete set.
And I can't choose the rest. :-)

Actually... there are more than just one thing you cant do in heaven. You cant sin. You cant get sick. You can feel sadness... etc etc.

You are right, Krispy, but Mark's message is all about challenging Believers to start sharing Christ with unbelievers, so that is what he focuses on in this book.
...and my message was to add a tad bit of light humor to an otherwise very rainy day here in NC.

It's not "THE" one thing..it's just one thing. And it is witnessing. Talking to a lost person about Christ.
