"I would ban religion completely" - Elton John

S
Santana

I was just reading an article on CNN.com about Elton John saying that religion fuels hatred towards gays.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/11/13/britain.eltonjohn.ap/index.html

I understand why the world thinks us Christians hates them. Because of open-air preachers wearing shirts like "Homo's are Hell bound." Because of Christians referring to them as the 3-letter derogatory word beginning with F. Because the way we change our attitudes when it comes to evangelizing them.

The bottom line is that gay or not gay…. you still need Jesus. I wonder how Jesus himself would associate with homosexuals. Would there be any difference between the way he talked to a liar and a homosexual?

S

Santana, you've brought up a very sensitive issue among the Christian community. I agree with you!
We need to believe that every sinner including homosexuals have been atoned for thier sins.

1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Another Greek word, (hilasmos), is used for Christ as our propitiation. 1 John 2:2; 4:10, and for "atonement" in the Septuagint (Leviticus 25:9). The thought in the Old Testament sacrifices and in the New Testament fulfillment, is that Christ completely satisfied the just demands of a holy God for judgment on sin, by His death on the Cross of Calvary.

Our problem is that we do not understand what Jesus did for the whole wide world, we have no idea. Thats why the power of what Jesus did on the cross is so weak in the lives of us North Americans, we've become superstitious and bias and foolish in our reasonings. We want Christ to come back NOW because we see sin all around us as being rampant, but we have forgotten about that new law that came into being when Jesus Christ came. GRACE and TRUTH.
Romans 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:Romans 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Did Christ atone for sin and satisfied God?
I have seen people who WERE gay told by the pastor not to testify of where they came out of, but the past druggie and drunkard can. Somethings wrong with this picture.

Elton John is right in his assumptions, God would agree with him. He shouldn't receive a hateful reaction from believers, the hope is Jesus Christ and Him crucified, not "Your going to hell you filthy fruitcake". I have heard this stuff all my life from hell bent preachers, this is wrong.

Paul didn't go into Athens to destroy the faith of the idolotors but to stir their hearts to reason and to consider the ONE God that they were ignorantly worshipping.

Do we tear down the Catholics faith or do we add to their faith, get them to think and rethink why they believe what they believe, or better yet, let them see your walk as a living epistle known and read of all men.

We have no idea what Elton John ever went thru in his early days to bring him to this conclusion, but I can see his reasons. Has anyone wondered that he might have looked into changing and found only condemnation. Children today brought up in condemnation, rebel against authority.

I am a christian, born again by the holy Spirit of God and I do not support the Christians stance towards homosexuals, I am sorry but it is wrong, it's bias and it's not the New Testement. And I have read Romans 1.

Let me clarify that, we have more mercy on the drunk, and the drug addict, but we have a hell sentence for homosexuals. We need to show mercy and if rejected, let them go. Perhaps down the road when they get into trouble, they might consider Christ. So that door should always be left open...............

Praise Jesus!! Lion of Judah!!!

i don't suppose that Jesus would talk to them any differently than this.

Lu 13:4 "Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?
Lu 13:5 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."

i won't dispute that some take the issue of homosexual sin a bit far. But i don't see drunkards, theives or murderers lobbying to convince us that what they do isn't wrong. The Bible clearly states that the act of sodomy is an abomination and a sin. No more so than murder but no less. Al sinners will be cast into the lake of fire. i don't care what a state law or federal statute says. God says it is sin punishable by death. Unless the sinner repents and is saved by Christ.

Before we all get mushy here... fact is that yes, many believers have treated gays in a manner that is not fitting for a believer. HOWEVER, most gays reject what the Bible does say about sin... their's in particular... and they consider straight up preaching against homosexuality to be "hate speech". In Canada you cant preach against homosexuality from the pulpit anymore. It wont be long and that's the way it'll be here in the US. The day freedom of speech is outlawed... I'll be an outlaw.

It's not that we're hateful... it's that they don't want to hear what the Bible says.

And it's not just gays, it's all of us. But now that they have pretty much gained "minority status" they want to ban anyone who would be critical of them. They want us to be "tolerant", but they are intolerant while forcing us to be tolerant.

I think Elton John is a hell bound fool. Not cuz he's gay, but becuz he has rejected God. I couldn't care less what a fool has to say. Neither should you, if you have Jesus in your heart.

And I always hated his music, even when I was a heathen... but I guess that isnt relevent to the conversation.

I find it interesting that (as was mentioned earlier) the homosexual agenda is going into schools and telling children as young as 4 & 5 years old they might be gay, and to experiment to see if they are!!
Imagine if we went into a public school and started teaching children to experiment with rape, because they might be a rapist, you never now. Or go steal, go shoot up. Or in others words "Do what thou wilt"
I use this phrase because it according to Anton Lavey who authored the satanic bible is the whole of the law for them. This ideal has so permeated our country as men like Allister Crowley, Timothy Leary etc. set forth the satanic doctrine that was so sweeping in the 60's.
Something God spoke to me about just this morning is that we do not see the grievous nature of much of this, because we have grown numb to it. We have been surrounded by it for so long that it has become normal. Do we not now see why it is imperitive to claim and live in out new home. to view things in lieu of our new Parent and according to His statutes and not according to our numbed and dumbed consciences.
Oh may God quicken our hearts to grieve over the things that break His heart and stir His wrath that we may be intercessors for our generation!!

Hey Roaringlamb... try an even more hideous thing... go into a government school and try telling the kids about Jesus. Bring a stop watch and time how long it takes to get escorted out.

Ahhh... there's no schoolin' like home schoolin'.

My kids have never been in a government school, and they never will be in a government school.

Yes, that is what I was aiming at. But it seems to that because things cost so much many are unable to afford it.

I would say God probably thinks that elton john fits the description of ungodly, sinner, scornful. Wouldn't you? :-(

In Canada you cant preach against homosexuality from the pulpit anymore.

In Canada you still can preach against homosexuality, it's just that no one has charged the preacher who preaches against it.

But overall I do agree with you Krispy. I am not for homosexuals don't get me wrong, I am just against this bias attiutude among believers that divide certain sins up into whats bad sins are what is worse than bad, God hath concluded all to be under sin.

But regarding Homeschooling it would be of great interest to me if you could tell me how you manage to work and homeschool at the same time?

Thank you

I found this on another website.
Quote:
My suggestion is the Elton John be set down in the heart of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, next Ramadan, complete with his pink boa and his best high heels, and told to expound more fully on his ideas of banning organise religion. I think he then will find Christians to be a great deal more compassionate in the event he is able to get back to London in one piece.
End quote.

Let him speak out against Islam either here or abroad and let's see what happens.

How is it he can speak against Christianity, and you will find Christians agreeing with him?

For my part, he is justone tool of satan to divide and conquer Christians.

As long as we keep our mouths shut, and say nothing, everyone is happy with Christians. They are harmless, quiet, meaningless.

Homosexuality is a sin. Man made law would have us believe otherwise. Man changing the law changes nothing in God's eyes.

In one European nation, they have been trying to pass a law for over 20 years to make sex with children legal.

So, if they change the law, that makes it ok?

God help us.

Well... pretty easy... I work, and my wife does the teaching.

If you want to discuss homeschooling just start a thread about it in the Lounge. I would hate to see it get buried in this thread. Throw it out there so everyone will know about it.

As for not being able to afford homeschooling, we're blessed that I make a pretty good living as a freelance structural engineer. We're not wealthy by any means, and we struggle to make ends meet. Our newest vehicle is 7 yrs old. My Jeep is 11 yrs old, and my truck is 26 yrs old. But most of the homeschooling families we know dont make a large amount of income. People learn to sacrifice because they realize educating their children in a Christian atmosphere is more important than any worldy posessions.

I like "Daniel".....and I like "Rocket Man".

as far as poor Elton.....man, there is nothing more sadder than an aging gay male, 50 or 60. Think about it; you gotta lay next to another equally sad and decaying 50 year old dude, you don't have the love of any of your kids, you been misusing parts of your body for years......its just sad, I don't care if he IS worth 500 million, he must be a sad sad specimen.

I mean think about this, besides the love of Jesus, which is the hidden Pearl in the field, whats better for a guy than the love of a good and faithful woman?

Its so good to be best friends with your wife, especially when you get older, a good woman to talk with, love on, know each other's lil things, favorite foods, favorite books, etc.

you know what I say? let these gays have their civil unions, God have mercy on 'em all......we should concentrate on strenthening the marriage right in front of us. My ex, she divorced me, I miss her , but she stop valuing me and I'll tell ya what.....I long for the day when a good Godly woman sees the good guy I am, and we have a natural chemistry, and that will be good, in His will.....but its gotta be right...know what I mean? you don't hop on the "B" train, when you were sposed to get on the "A" train.

I wouldnt mind having more children, sons or daughters, it don't matter, just as long as they have ten good digits and are sound of mind and soul. I thank God I have one good and Godly son, he's a joy.....anyway, I blither.

Daniel and Rocket Man....good songs, I don't care what you say...lol......you used to like heavy metal.....uhhhhhhh.

what was wrong with you?.....in fact, you were even dumb enough to join the Corps, when we got the best Navy in the world?.....what is your major malfunction?!? lol

LOL... oh boy! Like I said before (and I heard and used this phrase long before A Few Good Men came out!) ... I like you Navy boys! Everytime we have to go somewhere to fight, y'all give us a ride.

Bartle, your post was great. I think you are right on the money. God designed the sexes to need each other for very specific things, and they can say what they want to... but a gay relationship does not complete a person the way God intended. There are two gay men who live not far from us who gotta be near 70 yrs old. They have no legacy... no kids to care for them when they get to the point where they need help. I dont know anything about them, but they probably dont have a lot of family support. How lonely.

I do have a good woman in my life who is my best friend. She knows the best of me, and the worst of me... and sticks with me anyway. She was drop dead gorgeous when I married her, and she's only gotten more beautiful now that she is 37. I have four boys... my quiver is full, as King David said. No daughters, but I am looking forward to the day when my sons give me daughter-in-laws.

If the Lord allows, I anticipate have a very rich old age. Not monetarily... but rich in the things that matter.

And you will too, Bartle. Stay close to God, and in His timing He will bring that woman to you. She's out there...

Ya'll realize that this forum is going to be closed real soon if we don't get back on topic and get serious.

Spend time meditating on God's Word pleading for light. He will take you on a journey of delivery. It is day by day. Like any other wrong bent, it often takes a long time to be straightened out. But be sold on God's plan and timing. Anticipate God's help through this time.

When I commented at the beginning of this thread, I was not trying to give license for gays to have their way, no not at all. I am not concerned about what they do out there in the world today, the world is engulfed in gross sins and have been since the beginning of time.

What I am concerned with is how we deal with those who are coming into the faith, who are seeking change and only find condemnation. This is my beef with the Church. Homosexuals who are seeking change KNOW full well that it's a sin, they don't need to preached at time and time again that it's a sin, they know it, their conscience is bearing witness that it's wrong.

For example you take one of your kids who done wrong, you correct it. Then you keep correcting that child for the same wrong over and over again. The child is not doing that wrong, but you keep reminding him of it and and keep punishing him for something that he is not doing. That is how the church is dealing with homosexuals who are in the church seeking change. Eventually they will leave because of the wieght of condemnation from the church.

God is not pleased with this.

N
NLONG

We need to realize that the homosexual agenda is a very depraved lifestyle that has developed over the last 20-30 years into an organized movement to change times and laws. First sodomy laws were outed. But that was the start, now we are seeing the main desire--outing God! The aim is to change society to make it friendly to all sorts of wickedness. Next stop gay marriage. Then, polygamy, Then, who knows, maybe hate crimes. It's to thier advantage to make Christianity look as bad as possible and themselves as good as possible. It helps their cause. Sympathy has gained the homo agenda miles of ground. These "victims" though a very small minority, are gaining control of political and social structures, foundations like education. Worse yet, they are gaining a foothold in the hearts of people, again via sympathy coupled with relativism. I found an excellent site that nails the homo agenda to a T: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=46887

So it shouldn't be any surprise that they want the indoctrination to begin as young as possible. Culture is created by education. Marx and Hitler new this. That's why Germany and the EU don't want homeschoolers. They can't control what they don't educate.

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52311

Why? God has handed them over to a reprobate mind. Romans 1 tells us the scenerio. I'm not real sure why people think that things unacceptable to God should be acceptable in the church. It's a sad day that we even have to contemplate this foolishness.

Final thought, too bad the "church" is so wrapped up in division. Imagine what a force a unified, truth-loving, biblically correct church would be especially in the western world if we were one! If we were actually unified in love like the bible says. It's sad to say, but the homosexuals are much more unified than the church today. I'm not talking about ecumenism, but the church--the called out ones--whose foundation is Jesus Christ. May repentance come to the house of God!

Through it all. God is still on His throne and in control. Praise His holy name!

Just trying to get back to the original thread one more time. I'm with you Krispy on that one. I couln't care less what this man (who thinks he is something when he is nothing) has to say. Bad thing is that he is worshipped in the world and, therefore, what he says eventually does matter. This has more to do with my earlier post. The more they continue to say, "Homos are victims" and "Christians are bigots" and "Homos deserve rights" and "Homos are good people" and "Homos can't help their homos," the more people believe it and culture changes. And it changes one comment at a time, one person at a time. Another bad thing is that this principle has also worked against Christians in the same way--negative campaining. Anymore people think Christians are raving lunatics that have lost touch with reality.

I'm new and was just checking out the forums when I spotted your comment about telling kids about Jesus in the public schools...the truth is that we can give the Gospel to kids in public schools. Yes, these young children are being indoctrinated to the world view, but God has not allowed them to be shut off from HIM!

has developed over the last 20-30 years into an organized movement

Actually it's more like over the past 100 years. David Wilkerson in a book he published in 1967 said that there were over 1 million KNOWN homosexuals in the world at that time, that was 40 years ago. The poll that was conducted was for KNOWN homosexuals, what about those were living in the closet?? I bet there were over a million.

S

The more they continue to say, "Homos are victims" and "Christians are bigots" and "Homos deserve rights" and "Homos are good people" and "Homos can't help their homos," the more people believe it and culture changes. And it changes one comment at a time, one person at a time.

Lets change the wording here.

"Sinners are victims" and Christians are bigots" and "Sinners deserve rights" and Sinners are good people" and Sinners can't help thier sinning" Cultures will change, it's enevitable. The so called Christian nations must persecute the Church.

Jesus said, Mark 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

And we have lived in a time of properity for a time in North Amercia and other nations, but we will have persecutions as well. I don't want to be persecuated, but it's needful, it's for His glory, "It is our glory", that we are harressed for His name sake.

I know of persons who have gone to China to minister to those who are in the underground church. They are harressed, but they refuse to come back home. There are those who have come back home after being tormented and jailed only to go back to the very lions den they came out of saying they'd rather be in the service of the LORD than to become lazy in America. What a testimony.

We say "down with homosexuals" in our minds and forums, but we as a corperate body don't have a voice. I am not talking about the religious right which is a religious political movement. We are a divided people, God is placing ungodly people in office because they have rejected Him.(Proverbs 8:15 By me kings reign....) These things must come to pass, it can't remain the way it's going. We are a lazy bunch of Christians who think that we have the truth, and if we did have it we'd be free. God help us.

N
NLONG

Big Amen to that! The church does not have a vision for holiness. There is even division on what is sinful behavior. Ultimately, we are the problem. Jesus said "let your light so shine" and "ye are the salt of the earth." How bright and salty are we? The church is no longer looking to the Word as a standard, but to humanistic teaching and relativism. I had to correct my own mother last week on evolution with the bible. Simply amazing what people will swallow when they are not watchful. Makes me wonder, How much have I swallowed?

Well the worse this country gets, the more Christians are going to be sifted--wheat and chaff. In the end, persecution will come--one of those promises of the bible we just would rather ignore.

Amen. God help us!
