I read a couple of months ago in some secular magazine that this guy was a believer. I just saw on the news that he said he has given his life to Jesus. I know that he is not pro-Israel (big beef with me and God :-o ) don't know much else...does anyone have anything on this guy. Like is he pro-slaughtering babies or pro-truth through life?? Anything else let me know

I heard that to, but I also read that he a joined church because it would help him with Christians. A while back I was on World net Daily and read a whole article, you could go there and do a search on him. You'll get a whole list of things, but maybe you can find something that will help you.

Yeah he likes to propagate the fact that he's a Christian, but as far as I'm concerned he's not much different than Bush. Politics as usual... I wouldn't take much thought to it. You'll never know where his heart is, for only God knows. But from his fruits you can decide if he's living for God or not.

This is what the AP News quotes Obama as saying:

If your name is Barack Hussein Obama, you can expect it, some of that. I think the majority of voters know that I'm a member of the United Church of Christ, and that I take my faith seriously," Obama said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Barack Obama on Abortion
Democratic Jr Senator (IL); previously State Senator

On the Issues quotes:

Extend presumption of good faith to abortion protesters
as they had once done in this country. I suggested that perhaps we could agree on ways to reduce the number of women who felt the need to have abortions in the first place.
"I will pray for you," the protester said. "I pray that you have a change of heart." Neither my mind nor my heart changed that day, nor did they in the days to come. But that night, before I went to bed, I said a prayer of my own-that I might extend the same presumption of good faith to others that had been extended to me.

Pass the Stem Cell Research Bill
State Senator Barack Obama today called for passage of the Ronald Reagan Biomedical Research Act (HB 3589), which will permit embryonic stem cell research in Illinois. The bill, formerly known as the Stem Cell Research Act, was recently renamed to honor the memory of former President Ronald Reagan.
The Ronald Reagan Biomedical Research Act specifically permits embryonic stem cell research in Illinois. Today, more than 100 million Americans are afflicted by medical problems [which could be affected by this research]. Obama says, "This bill affects diseases that attack Americans - regardless of their gender, age, economic status, ethnicity, race or political affiliation. This is about a commitment to medical research, under strict federal guidelines. I call on leaders in Illinois and President Bush in Washington to stop playing politics on this critical issue and expand the current policy on embryonic stem cell research so that we can begin finding the cures of tomorrow today."

Voted YES on $100M to reduce teen pregnancy by education & contraceptives.
Vote to adopt an amendment to the Senate's 2006 Fiscal Year Budget that allocates $100 million for the prevention of unintended pregnancies. A YES vote would expand access to preventive health care services that reduce unintended pregnancy (including teen pregnancy), reduce the number of abortions, and improve access to women's health care. A YES vote would:
Increase funding and access to family planning services
Funds legislation that requires equitable prescription coverage for contraceptives under health plans
Funds legislation that would create and expand teen pregnancy prevention programs and education programs concerning emergency contraceptives

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 8 /Christian Newswire/ -- In anticipation of the Feb. 10 announcement in Springfield, Ill. that Sen. Barack Obama will run to become president of the United States, Christians for Social Justice has launched ObamaNation.Com, a website exposing the hypocrisy of Obama on the greatest moral issues of our time – abortion and homosexual unions.

Pastor Clenard H. Childress, Jr. an African American Pastor and leader of the largest Black Pro Life group in America says "abortion is black genocide. Each day, 1452 African Americans are murdered by abortion. 4,000 children over all. There has been over 15 million African American children dismembered in the womb by the abortion holocaust and as many women victimized. Sen. Obama supports of the wholesale slaughter of our own community by abortion."

Here is another quote from: Christian Newswire

Childress, Director for Christians for Social Justice, also says "African Americans make up 12% of the population but account for over 50% of all new cases of HIV. Now, with that said, 60% of all new aids cases in America will be the result of the violation of Leviticus 18:22 and Romans 1:27 (men having sex with men). If he were to become President of the United States Sen. Obama's support of homosexual unions would pose a real health threat to African Americans."

The Truth about Obama:

Obama voted to not outlaw Partial Birth Abortion (1997 Illinois ban, 2003 Federal ban)

Obama voted against protecting born alive infants from abortionists (2002, Induced Infant Liability Act, and the Born Alive Infant Protection Act )

Obama voted in support of homosexual unions. (06/07/2006, Same Sex Marriage Resolution)

If elected president, Obama's use of the bully pulpit would be a boost for the culture of death and the homosexual agenda. Also, there would always be a threat of an Obama veto of any significant pro-life or pro-family legislation. Obama would undoubtedly nominate pro-abortion justices to the US Supreme Court, which could etch Roe v. Wade into stone for generations.

Obama is pro-abortion, and sees nothing wrong with homosexuality. He has voted for partial birth abortion. I will not judge another man's salvation, but I will say this... by their fruits you shall know them.

He will never get my vote.

not only will he get my vote, he will get my labor, whether it be thru writing or serving.

I will have no compunction on telling him two things, that abortion is murder, and that the US should help form, outifit and protect the new nation of Kurdistan in northern Iraq. No surge, no leaving the region, the best and smartest move is Kurdistan.

The only man I see fit to serve as President, Colin Powell, is not running, so Senator Obama gets my vote.

Colin Powell is the only republican I would vote for, the republicans have no desire to end abortion, they pay lip service to the religious right, but its just another chip on a whole stack of lies they been serving out. They don't want "inner city single mothers" breeding, thats the ugly truth they won't tell ya, Bill Bennett did.

and since his announcement, I have been praying for the safety of Senator Obama. He's going to be our next President, God willing.

brethren
i'm not sure what the fuss is about Obama but somehow i'd not be surprised if he won.anyhow the bottom line is neither party is wholly sympathetic to God so i don't like either one. i think though we ought to seek our Lord on how we should vote and vote accordingly. bro Krispy mentioned he'd not vote for him because of the issues he mentioned, on the flip side, the republicans have proven themselves inept and corrupt on many occasions for the reason i mentioned at the first, they are not wholly sympathetic to God. democrats also have proven the same. however let us not cease to lift them all up in prayer because in spite of the rampant corruption, ineptitude,lip-servicing and so on, God has placed each of those congressmen and senators where they are, republican and democrat (perhaps contrary to popular belief) for His own purposes. We need to see past how democrats/republicans being in office affects us because it's not about us, it's about Him. How does their being in office fit into His plan for His own glory and the revelation of His manifold wisdom (Ephesians 3)to the powers of the air.

Billy Graham could run for president and half the Christians in America would find fault with him. The president is a secular job, it'd be nice to have a Christian as president *and i know I will take flak for this* but I don't expect my mailman to be a Christian either.

Frankly put, politics is so caught up in power and materialism, I full suspect that even if a saint were to get involved out of pure benevolence he would either quit out of discouragement or compromise his faith.

S

To be honest with you... the more I get into the Word, and serving God... the less I give a rip about politics.

I think Christians who are all caught up in politics and working on campaigns, etc have lost focus. We're here to win lost souls to Jesus, not to vote in our favorite politician. We're not here to stop homosexual marriage. We're not even here to stop abortion. If we did our job and won hearts to Christ, all of that would fix itself.

But, since I am a citizen I will vote, but it will not be for anyone who is for the murder of unborn children. And this is bold, but I'll say it... in my opinion, anyone who votes for a candidate that actively supports and votes for legislation that provides for the murder of unborn children is an accessory to murder. Maybe not in the eyes of the law, but in God's eyes.

I could care less about some middle eastern country. If our own country doesnt quit spitting in God's face, nothing else will matter.

How does that happen? Christians forget about politics and start getting the gospel out.

There. I said it. Take it or leave it.

I dont know if anyone has noticed, but there is a new fire burning in the pit of my stomache. Y'all best get used to it. :-)

That leads to another question. Should Christians vote for someone who is pro-gay, even if they are republican and are more conservative then some of the other options. Should we vote for someone who is pro-whatever, when God calls what they're supporting an abomination?

Some may say it's a sin not to vote, but the Bible says to pray for those in authority over us so we can live quiet and peaceable lives. We shouldn't get all caught up in politics and get sidetracked from the real reason we're here.

Usually being pro-abortion goes hand in hand with pro-gay "rights" (as if they didnt have the same rights as everyone else in the country). So really, 99% of the time your question isnt relevant. I havent seen a politician yet who was pro-gay, but pro-life.

As for republican, democrat... the name means nothing anymore. Especially to me. Most of them are ungodly men, so what difference does it make?

Gold... I'm not against GWB. He is not a perfect president, but I personally think he's done ok. Better than I think some of the alternatives were.

But I get upset over the republican vs. democrat thing. Who cares? Can we just have some candidates that have some integrity? Pleeeez?

And let's face it... the republicans have used the Christians in this country to get elected. Newt has the gull to tell us he's all about family values, and he a Christian... all the while he's been divorced and remarried what... 3 times? Gimme a break.

Bill Clinton claims to be a Baptist in good standing? If he's a Baptist, I'm glad I'm a Christian!

It comes from both sides. Over the past year or so I've seen so much pandering to Christians from politicians that I really got bothered by it all and decided to pretty much turn off the news, and the talk radio, and just concentrate on what I can do to reach people for Jesus and please my God.

Dear Krispy,

I am with you on all that. I too have shut off the news. I am so sick of it. Now when I am heading for SI I take a quick glance at the headlines on my start page, that's about all I can take.

This one thing I know. The only thing that is going to help our country (USA) is a return to God. If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land. We are just reaping what many generations of complacency has earned us. Oh how I long to see this turn around, however in my fellowship you can barely get two people to come together to pray. Too much life going on to see just how precarious it really is.

The Power of Prayer

In the third place Daniel had learned complete confidence in God's ability to answer prayer. Nothing could deter him from waiting on God, for he knew the power of prayer. Daniel was well acquainted with power; he had lived at the seat of it for many years. As a lad, he had seen in his own land the amazing things that could be done by this world-power. Together with his fellow Jews he had been taken captive by the mighty emperor, the "head of gold" surmounting all the Gentile kingdoms; and now for a very long time he had had his place at the heart of that terrifying world authority. He knew all about the decrees of an absolute despot and about the "law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not" (vs. 8, 12). And when he had considered it all, he was more than ever convinced that one man on his knees was more than a match for it all, that there is more power in the simple prayer of faith than in the greatest empire that this world can ever produce. He had learned his lesson. To him it was no mere theory, as, alas, it often is to us. He had proved it in the past and he was content to go on proving it. It was a special occasion, but he sought for no special remedy. He just went on praying "as he did aforetime".

Krispy said something I agree with, as I become more focused on the cross I am losing focus with politics.

I went to school to study politics, I fully planned to be involved in international politics after graudating but God had a different plan.

The fact of the matter is that in the bible we are told NOT to force the law on others (although i'm not going to look up references right now) but instead to preach the Gospel.

Why force a country that is pro-gay marriage to be against gay marriage... the fact of the matter is that the sin is still being practiced even if marriage is not recognized. We need to strike at the root, we NEED TO PREACH THE GOSPEL!

Politics can't change the heart of a sinful nation, only Jesus can! Stop putting your faith in man, and put your faith in The Son of Man!

There is a book out in 2006 that I didn't read by General Georges, former air vice marshal in Sddam Hussein's military and one of Saddams's top advisors. He clams the weapons of mass destruction are in Syria right now. I had heard this through a minister before America went in Iraq a few years ago but did not hear how it was done until I read a small article in a Jewish Christian magazine today called Israel My Glory.

Any way, Mr Georges clams that Saddam continued to work on the chemical weapons and rockets into August of 2002 and his original plan in 1990 was to attack Israel with three types of chemicals. At this time, August of 2002 he was convinced America was going to attack. The weapons were still being worked on into 2003.

Mr Georges claims that the weapons were gotten out because of a natural disaster in Syria in 2003 that provided a perfect cover to get the weapons to Syria. On June 4, 2002, a three-mile-long irrigation dam, which had been drawing water from the Orantees River in the north western district of Qeyqoun, Syria, collapsed, inundationg three small villages and destroying scores of homes. When Syrian President Bashar al-Asssaad asked for help from Joran and Iraq, Saddam knew what he would do. For him the disaster in Syria was a gift, and there, posing as shipments of supplies and equipment sent from Iraq to aid the relief effort, were Iraq’s WMD’s.

Who would suspect commercial airliners of carrying deadly toxins and contraband technology out of the country? Plains were reconstructed. All passenger seats were taken out, stuff including toilet compartments, storage compartments, and stuff normally used for passengers were taken out and flooring was put in. The airliners were then used to transport hundreds of tons of chemicals , armaments, and other paraphernalia into Syria under the cover of a mission of mercy to help a stricken nation. Mr Georges speaks of fifty six sorties moved by commercial 747's and 727's.

The Book. Saddams’s Secrets:
How an Iraq General Defied and Survived Saddam Hussein by Georges Sada. Published in 2006 by Integrity Publishers, a division of Thomas Nelson, Inc. P.O. Box 141000, Nashville, TN 37214.

I copied most of this from the magazine Israel My Glory printed for Jan. 2007.

Hi GaryE...

I have seen some reports about this. The fact that they didn't find any WMDs does indicate that they didn't exist. It just means that they didn't find any recently produced weapons. They did, however, find many illegal weapsons. They also found much proof of a planned production of WMDs. But remember, the war was not commenced solely because of WMDs. The possibility of WMDs in the hands of a madman only created an urgency in the days following 9/11.

The war was actually the result of a decade worth of defiance from Saddam Hussein following the first Gulf War (when he was forced to withdraw from Kuwait). Hussein agreed to a ceasefire that was based upon particular conditions which he openly defied for 10 years. It is important to remember that President Clinton ordered the bombing of Iraq on at least three occasions. It can be argued that the current operation is the needed completion of the first Gulf War.

As far as Barrack Obama is concerned...

He is a very intelligent individual. He has some brilliant ideas in areas such as health care, net neutrality, and gun control (issuing a license -- similar to a driver's license). However, I could not bring myself to vote for a man who verbally affirms and promises support for abortion. I also disagree with his conclusions concerning gay marriage -- in which he believes such moral issues should be left up to the government.

Those two issues are very important to me. As a future husband and father (and of course, as a believer), I feel that it is my responsibility to oppose such a candidate who supports the continued slaughter of millions of unborn babies. Even though Obama claims that he "opposes abortion on personal grounds" (the new "talking points" of pro-abortion candidates), I could never vote for a man or woman who might appoint liberal justices to the Supreme Court that continue to "redefine" the morality and social views of a once-Christian nation.

Don't get me wrong -- I am neither a member of the "religious right" or the "immoral left." These are solely my own opinions based upon an idea that I should be a good steward of my home and my country. I want the best for my country, and I know that sin is a reproach for any nation (particularly one that was founded by many devout men). I am first and foremost a follower of Christ. Yes there are sometimes little differences between candidates. But abortion is still a holocaust that kills more innocent lives in one year than all of the wars in the past decade.

Yes, the darkness is inevitable. And yes, my citizenship is first and foremost in Heaven. But I believe that my vote is my voice. It is a reflection of my beliefs. The government, which is allowed by God, was used by Paul to bring the Gospel to Rome. We need individuals who will do the same to Washington D.C. As a man who loves my parents, siblings, my future wife, my future children, and my homeland -- I cannot ignore an issue as important as abortion.

:-(

Just a quick comment Ian,

Why force a country that is pro-gay marriage to be against gay marriage...

The best reason to 'force' someone to do anything is because the law is instructive regarding what is right and wrong...especially to developing children. Most people are against driving 55mph...but they know to do it because it's posted. Most people are instinctively against many things that are required by law.

When we are responsible just for ourselves we see the world differently then when we see the world as parents. When I was single I would have heard that as an insult but it really isn't...it's just that parents (the good ones) come to understand that it doesn't matter if people want to do right or not...some things have to be enforced for the good of the personal, family, or national character. Someone once said, what this generation tolerates, the next generation will embrace.

Righteous and moral laws are a good thing. They won't save the soul of an immoral man, but they just might keep a child from adopting a popular view of right and wrong, making tragic mistakes and suffering irrepairable moral damage.

Wanting good laws is not 'trusting in man' and certainly not a political position. In fact I am finding it hard to see how a person can vote for either political party without producing fruit that is contrary to the Holy Spirit.

Blessings,

MC
