Chilling Words Sound Like Bible Prophecy

S
Spitfire

I was stunned this morning as I listened to the chilling video rantings of a madman on the morning news. The gunman from Virginia Tech has sent videos and a manifesto to NBC News. Here is an excerpt from some of his rant:

"Your Mercedes wasn't enough, you brats," said Cho, a South Korean immigrant whose parents work at a dry cleaners in Centreville, Va., a Washington suburb. "Your golden necklaces weren't enough you snobs. Your trust funds wasn't enough. Your vodka and cognac wasn't enough. All your debaucheries weren't enough. Those weren't enough to fulfill your hedonistic needs. You had everything."

It made my hair stand up! I know that this way of thinking won't be popular, but, could it be that God is trying to tell us something? Wouldn't it be just like God to speak through a madman? Would we listen if it came from someone calm and serene? Will we listen if it comes through the mouth of a mass murderer? I doubt it. Dian.

There is something very serious behind all of this.
This sounds like brainwashing, I don't know by whom and why?
Recently I read that weapon of this century would be mind control.
Other thing is that kids every day are training to be such murderers from the video games.
We are at the end.

Absolutely not. There was nothing prophetic about this man's rants. He was not in his mind, and his was in a fantasy world. He was demon possessed.

Is this society debauched? Yea, but this guy was motivated by what he perceived as people persecuting him. He was probably picked on in high school, but most of the people they talk to at Virginia Tech didnt even know who he was. His own dorm mates were surprised he could speak English because he never talked. He lived in his own world.

No, nothing this evil, demon possessed man said came from God. When he videoed himself he was demon possessed. God was no where in any of that.

To even suggest that.. I'm sorry... but that goes completely against the nature of God.

I agree with you to apoint. However a quick read of Jeremiah will show you how God uses wicked men to bring judgement such as the babylonians. I am not saying this is the case but I dont think that someone bringing it up is totally ridiculous either.

Dear brothers and sisters,

I want to ask you this, with as much gentleness as I can express to you here. I am nothing and I know that there can be many things that do not appear to me that may appear to others, or to you all, but brothers and sisters, I do not know why we would even want to watch this, or to hear this man's words?

I do not know why.

God was no where in any of that.

Krispy, I think Spitfire was pointing that here is a symptom of a very serious social malady - a spiritual one, that is, and God is using this situation to get our attention.

Is this society debauched? Yea, but this guy was motivated by what he perceived as people persecuting him.

I am not prepared to write off this man as a “but”, an acceptation, an insane demoniac, or in other words, a non-representation of our society. He is a product of our society, and none of us can so easily wash our hands from the problem.

There are all kinds of people around like him – hundreds of thousands. Not all of them end up like this one did, but the potential is there! We are living on one enormous landmine of human dynamite, with latent inner rage as the fuse. We will never “get it” if we just put these kind of people into a separate little categories – like some sort of spiritual mutations.

I know that this way of thinking won't be popular, but, could it be that God is trying to tell us something? Wouldn't it be just like God to speak through a madman?
Absolutely! When society is deadened to the voice of God, he shouts quite loudly: Hey, you, wake up! Can’t you see that something is desperately wrong!! Your ways are not working. Can’t you see? Here is an example! Come to me, come to me, come to me! If you don’t, it’s going to get worse!

Would we listen if it came from someone calm and serene?
We’ve had this already for a long time. We have our bibles – all over the place.

Will we listen if it comes through the mouth of a mass murderer? I doubt it.

I agree with you. Mankind has always been resistant to even the most blatant of warnings.

The book of Haggai reflects this modern-day trend. The post-exilics should have had divine judgment fresh on their minds. Some of them would have lived through the capture of Jerusalem. Yet they were already wandering from him, absorbed in the temporal issues of life.

Five times Haggai warns the people to take note; “Give careful thought to your ways.” I like the way the Message translation puts it: “Take a good hard look at your life. Think it over….” Haggai was telling the people to open their eyes and notice that even though they have been trying very hard, they were getting no where. In spite of the obvious, the people were blind to the fact that divine judgment had fallen on them. They just weren’t getting it - until Haggai put it into words (given by God). The good news is that the people listened to Haggai, quite readily!

Have we really evolved into something better the ancient peoples? I suspect that we’d like to think so.

No, nothing this evil, demon possessed man said came from God.

Sane men of God have said the same thing and God does speak with such strong language. If you think it goes against the nature of God, then you're talking about a sizable amount of text in scripture, Brother.

God has to be in it somewhere. Otherwise, we have to believe that the Holocaust and 911 and this tragedy happened just because some devil got a hold of some wicked men and we were left to their mercy.

No, I don't believe that. I believe this type of thing is prelimary judgement and for us to say, "we didn't deserve it" is evidence of our lack of recognition of our sin. Of course, we deserve it. A bullet through the head by a mad gunman is merciful compared to an eternity in hell. I am that idiot. He is me. And you. But for the grace of God...

Our nation needs to wake up. And we, as believers, need to take responsibility for our brother (meaning all the people we like to disassociate ourselves from). We need to repent on behalf of everyone. I'm wailing today. I'm crying out to God, because I heard him speak to me through a madman who killed 30 something people.

I realize this isn't a popular position for me to take, but like I said, it isn't as if God hasn't tried to tell us through someone sane and calm.

This morning, I was watching that video clip and the Spirit of Truth lept out at me. I saw God with tongue in cheek saying, "how do you like them apples?!"

And if that ain't the God of the Bible, then I'm bound for hell, Brother, cause that's the God I worship and fall flat on my face before everyday.

You are absolutely correct. And If I may add, there is no glory in this for the LORD, rather it brings shame to His name because this nut uses the name of Jesus in a good sense, which is telling the world that he might be a Christian, therefore all Christians are crazy and not to be trusted.

I work with people that are mentally challenged. The things that some of my clients write down on paper are no different than the ravings of Cho, the only thing that keeps them from fulfilling them is their medications.

Brothers and sisters, I have no intention of watching this man or of hearing his words. Besides my initial concerns, after reading what Jim has written here I'm even more concerned that this man's words are or could be presented here as the word of God?

Am I mis-understanding something here?

Some of this boys words are not his own.
The warrior, wearing the full armour of GOD will recognise this!
The references to our LORD are spat out with typical satanic venom. Do they bear fruit?
Not of the Holy vine of Jesus.
Jesus called the devil a liar and a murderer and as we have seen he is ..THE LORD REBUKE HIM.
Pray for his soul and all the lost ones too.

I dont think anyone is saying that this guy was talking for Jesus. He is obviously demon possessed. The point is though that a quick read through Jeremiah will reveal how God uses wicked men to serve His purposes. I am not saying this is the case at Virginia Tech, but it is worth discussing Gods role in it.

Wow guys... I'm really having trouble understandling why we're even discussing the possibility that anything this guy said came from God, prophetic or otherwise.

Are our heads so far up in the clouds that we have lost all form of common sense?

I've already said it a couple of times on this thread... and I will say it one more time... nothing that came out of this man's mouth had anything to do with God, did not come from God, does not represent God...

Can we please stop this silly discussion? It making us all look foolish.... and rather dim-witted.

I agree with Jim that God will turn this into good, but the thought that God was speaking to us thru the mouth of this killer is offensive to me, and I believe it is offensive to the Holy Spirit... and thats a dangerous place to be.

Then is this something that we should set before the hearts and minds of others?

Again, why would any of you want to listen to the words of this man?

I remember reading a qoute attributed to C.H. Spurgeon the other day that was something along the lines of "I wouldn't drag my spirit through the mud for the sake of having it washed'.

I agree as stated earlier, however based on earlier comments in another post, I need to know if you are saying that God had nothing to do with the tragedy (like He sat on the throne helpless as one of His creation went on a murderess rampage) or if you are saying that God could have been involved and used the muderous way of a ranting madman for His own purposes, instead of stopping it.

I think that professed believers putting their heads in sand and creating an idolotrous "love God" to placate their lukewarmness instead of weeping in prayer on behalf of a perverse society or standing on the street corner and warning people to flee from the wrath to come are more to blame then anyone, even the gunman.

My theory is this:

Seung Cho was mentally psychotic. His extreme anti-social behavior had opened him up to the demon world.

Being Korean and living in Virginia he was probably around Christians his entire life -which is why he speaks so much about them, but he never really met Jesus.

I can't help but thinking about the boy with the demons who kept throwing him into the fire... the Apostles tried to remove the demons but couldn't... The boy needed two things, Jesus and Prayer.

I can imagine that this young man Seung Cho probably had a lot of Christian teaching around him and a lot of 'Apostles' trying to help him... but no one ever came to him as Jesus, prayed for him, engaged in his life to remove those demons.

Whose fault is this? The Christian Church. Not a single organization, not any single person... it was a systemic failure. We are failing to show Jesus to this world, we are not showing the light of Christ in our lives, we are not engaging the world as salt and light. We are not being Jesus' ambassadors -we've shirked our responsibility and hid ourselves in man made temples.

well said Ian - Jim

G
Goldminer

I agree with Ian as well. I have read this entire thread and can see all the perspectives. The church is dropping the ball on these people and many more.

I have no desire to watch the video, however just the little blurbs I have heard tell me this man was rejected over and over. He wasn't very attractive so the pretty people didn't want him. He saw the affluence of those around him, seemingly living the high life, which didn't include him and he became angry which opened him up to serve the devil.

Christians may have been able to go in an take him into their hearts thereby relieving the big hole in his. Sharing Jesus love and acceptence with him. Letting him know that Jesus accepts him and wants him.

Now about the possiblility that God, even though He didn't do this, will speak though this, I believe He does. He speaks to us, does He not? Of our selfishness and blindness to the need around us? How many around us are loners and shunned by society and we have the goods but don't offer them. Yes He speaks to our self-centered me, me, me ways. It is a wake-up call to labor in the harvest. It is also speaking to us to be faithful in prayer for those God lays on our hearts. Those we are supposed to care about. We all, most likely, have people away at college or in the military and we forget to intercede for them. This does speak to us to get on the ball and care enough to do our part.

God uses everything in our lives to speak to us if we just have ears to hear.

I do not believe that God orchestrated this horrific event, and for anyone to suggest that He did is an offense to me.

What happened is the result of living in a fallen sin-soaked society. I've already said it before, so I'm unclear as to why you're asking it again.

I believe completely that what the devil meant for evil God will turn into good. Believe it or not, people will be saved as a result of the grief and finality of death that they now are faced with... many for the first time in their lives.

I think that professed believers putting their heads in sand and creating an idolotrous "love God" to placate their lukewarmness instead of weeping in prayer on behalf of a perverse society or standing on the street corner and warning people to flee from the wrath to come are more to blame then anyone, even the gunman.

I disagree with Ian in that he has no evidence to that effect. It's all guess work and what if's. There are a lot of people in my life, mostly family, who I have demonstrated God's love to... who I have shared the way to salvation to... and yet they still reject it and spit on it and turn their backs on it.

You dont know anyone in this case, nor anyone close to his family. How do you know that Christians never reached out him?

I'm not saying they did or didnt... maybe you're right. But you're just guessing, and now everyone piles on and says "yea, I agree" because it's in vogue on this forum to criticize the church. The church does deserve most of the criticizm it receives... and I'm usually at the front of the line... but in this case... there is no evidence, no facts, just baseless criticism.

Cho shot those people. Not the church, not society, not "rich kids", or whoever else we want to blame.

It is very ill-advised for this thread to continue. If it does, I'll do everyone (myself included) a favor and take a hiatus from here until this whole story blows over and everyone chills out. Otherwise my blood will boil to a point that I say something that I'll need to apologize for.

Krispy

S

Since I was the one who started this thread, I'm glad I get one last word in before it gets locked.

God spoke to me through that madman.

I believe that the type of thing which happened at Virinia Tech is preliminary judgement and I'm not embarrassed to say that.

That does not mean that I believe the people at Georgia Tech were somehow singled out by God for punishment. I believe we are seeing preliminary judgement everday and I might be next to fall at the hands of some catastrophe. Why not you or I?

I know God is issuing a loud cry across this earth calling people to repent before it's too late and today I heard it coming out of a madman's mouth. That's pretty shocking and my bones have been reeling over it today.

To everyone who is effected by this tragedy, I'm so sorry. I'm deeply grieved over the pain and loss of life and I'm praying for you all. I take no pleasure in this, by any means. In fact, my heart groans in sorrow everyday till our redemption is complete and every tear is dried. God have mercy on us all. Sincerely, Dian.

Jeremiah will reveal how God uses wicked men to serve His purposes
Cho was not a wicked person, he was a killer. Wicked persons in the bible are those who hold the truth in unrighteousness. Wicked is twisted, crooked, and have the ways of Satan, sly and sneaky. Religious people are seen as wicked. They know the way, and stand in the doorway so others can't get in. The Pharisees and Sadducees were such examples, our modern equivalent is the Catholic system, Protestant system and the like.

Cho was demon possessed. The system failed him, there was an opportunity for Cho to receive medical treatment but they let him go. His parents no doubt tried to make sense of his life, perhaps thought like any other parent, go and get a college degree. I can see Cho playing playstation games that involved war, combat and killings. In College being teased to death because he was different, an oddball, a question mark. School kids can be the worst at teasing, they are experts at it.

I am in a way feeling sorry for Cho (You can hate me for it) but at the same time I cannot and will not excuse the atrocities that have transpired.

He was a cold blooded killer and at the same time he was being controlled by a power that was beyond him.

A
andres

Fact is Cho hated the world, and he wanted revenge on it, Most likly for all the pain he was put through as kid , but what i have learned thru this terriable event is we need to reach out to people even if they seem unreachable or dont want to be reached.
"LOve thy neighbor"
"do good to those who persecute you"
" give expecting nothing in return"
---perfect example Jesus with the demoniac,
Jesus reached out, demoniac healed,
God gets glory
Christans need to get our hands dirty again and go out to the ones that no one cares about
