Quotes of professing Christians

L
LiveforGod

The following are some quotes of professing Christians:

“Of course, it is inevitable that you will sin as a believer
and grieve the very Spirit of God that seals your security.”
“While it is not possible for you to lose your salvation, sin
will have a deadening effect in your spiritual life.”
“Sin always exists in the saints, till they are divested of this
mortal body.”
We hear it everywhere–testimonies and teachings of DEFEAT
from “Christians”–conquered by sin again and again,
with no expectation of deliverance in this life...and yet they
expect to go to heaven when they die, despite of their sin,
believing that their standing is holy, though their state is sinful!
Now we understand that under the Old Testament covenant
souls could not experience spiritual regeneration, as “the
law made nothing perfect.” They continually had to bring
sacrifices for their sin. But in this New Testament covenant of
“glory that excelleth” how can it be that professing Christians
(of all people!) are proclaiming that the gospel can make
nothing perfect either?!
Oh, souls! Wake up and shake yourselves from this
DECEPTION! It will lead you to hell! Christians DO NOT
SIN! Woe to the tens of thousands of “preachers” that propagate
the fatal poison of this heretical sinning religion to the
multitudes! They are guilty of mass murder.
It was sin that separated the first man from God and be
assured, sin will still separate you from God today. A religious
profession means nothing if you yet sin. It is a reproach to the
name of the One who died to take away the sin of the world.
Souls, don’t settle for this ungospel! And by no means be
found defending it! The true gospel of the Son of God offers
something far superior than what is being passed off as
Christianity today. Most professors of religion will say, “I am
forgiven,” but cannot say, “I am delivered!” Tragically for
them, such religion is vain.
Adam Clarke urged, “Reader, do not plead for Baal. Try,
fully try, the efficacy of the blood of the covenant, and be not
content with less salvation than God has provided for thee.
Thou art not straitened in God, be not straitened in thy own
bowels.”
Jesus marveled at the unbelief of the Jews (Mk. 6:6), and
surely He is marveling at the unbelief of those who claim His
name today, yet deny His power to deliver us from all sin.
The apostle Paul emphatically prohibited sin. Malcolm
Lavender stated, “The church...must come to share the same
conviction about sin as did St. Paul and first century Christians.
Otherwise, it will never deliver the message to its generation
that saves from the wrath to come. For this is the only message
that is consistent with the voice of divine inspiration!” Amen!

Christians DO NOT sin!!

Show me one. Just one.

You people act as tho we're condoning sin in the Christian. We're not. Not at all. But to say Christians dont sin is wrong theology.

Anyone who says Christians dont sin have never been a part of a church.

Why is there such a push for this bad theology on this forum lately? It seems as tho every 2 months or so there is a new heresy brought into this forum that just hangs around for awhile...

Strange.

God is not hanging out around the corner waiting to bash our heads in with a hammer as soon as we fall down... if thats the god you serve, start calling yourself a Muslim.

We dont lose our salvation everytime we fall down. Does anyone study their Bibles anymore, read commentaries, or study theology?

So how are you doing in this?

Isn't it interesting that Paul never told the man who was committing incest that he was lost? but rather instructed his removal from the Church in Corinth so that satan could buffet his flesh. Then in the second Epistle to the Corinthians, Paul exhorts them to welcome him back in.

Paul's beliefs in holiness and sanctification were rooted in the believer being in Christ. Christ is our righteousness, and sanctification(1 Cor 1:30)

This pull yourself up by your bootstraps ideology will lead you down one of two paths-
1)Pharisaism because no one else is as holy or spiritual as you are, or
2)Utter despair because you cannot live what you think God requires.

The just shall live by faith alone. If one mixes the Law and the Gospel, they are doomed to despair, and sadly this is all we hear in our days, "you can" "you should" "you better". but the point is that "I cannot" and I need another to do it for me. Someone outside of me who brings His perfect obedience to my account and says, "It is finished".

I have been down this road, and ended up at both destinations- Pharisee and despair. Now praise God, I have Christ, and he is a million times better than my own righteousness, which is nothing more than filthy rags.

Look to Christ alone, and He will save, you can't live a sinless life here on Earth, else there would be no need for a sinless Saviour.

And no I am not encouraging sin, as the truly regenerated heart will be more sensitive and grieved by the sin that remains within than any thing it felt prior. But there is always the assurance of acceptance because of Christ, and we can come boldly to the throne of grace and receive mercy in the time of need.

Blessings to you.

My dear Friend. I am sadened by what you just wrote. I have read many of your posts and comments, and thus far I had you in a very high place, spiritualy speaking.

Show me one. Just one.

In the name of Jesus Christ, and with all humbelness of mind I can trully say, And God be my Witness, That I am a Christian that does not sin.
But to say Christians dont sin is wrong theology.

I am sorry to hear that. Last time I read the Bible it said that Christians live Holly Lives, without sin.
Anyone who says Christians dont sin have never been a part of a church.

Tell that to Jhon, Paul, And Christ.
Why is there such a push for this bad theology on this forum lately?

I don't think it is bad theology if it's found in the Bible. And concernig the push , its just the proclamation of truth.

I love you Brother and Friend. I can give you scripture if you are willing to talk in a brotherly love for each other. I do not blame you for what you said. Who am I to Judge anybody. But I can say in the Love of God that you are mistaken. And I say this not of myself, but of God, because it is found in Scripture.

Love you Brother.
Your most undeserving Brother in Christ Sammy.

That I am a Christian that does not sin.

I say this in humbleness as well- then you don't need Christ, or His work for you before the throne, because Christ came to save sinners, and not the righteous.

L

Hello Brother.

then you don't need Christ

Oh Brother I need him. You see if I didt have God Besides me when being tempted, then I would fall to the Temptation. But With him and Through him is that I can over come the temptation. It is trough his strenth that I can live Holly and sinless. I was a siner. But God changed me and put in me a new nature that can obercome the Devil and his firery darts.
because Christ came to save sinners, and not the righteous

Amen. Yes he did. He dieded for me while I was dead in my sins and transpasses. I was not a rightjeus perseon. But he saved me and by wis strenght I am free from the bondage sin had on me.
I love you brother. I will pray that you might find that power in God to obercome all temptations For his Glory alone.

Well brother, if you think I am wrong I would tremedously apreciate you kindeness unto me and please show me why I am wrong so that accordibg to the truth I may be right for God's Glory.

1 John 2:1-2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

This is written to Christians, not unbelievers.

Galations 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

In this last passage John is writing to the church. He is saying that we need to be honest with ourselves and realize that we are flesh, and as long as we are in the flesh we have a sinful nature... and if we deny that this is so, the truth is not in us. If true Christians were sinless it would make any sense for John to write that.

He was not implying that we should sin, or we just throw our hands up and say "I cant help myself!"... and Paul addressed that as well when he talking about liberty.

None of us are perfectly sinless, and if you believe you are, then the truth is not in you.

Krispy

L
LiveforGod

Thank You Brother.
Here is my view on the subject.

1) The purpose of Jesus’ coming was to
redeem us from all iniquity
Matt. 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a
son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS:
for he shall save his people from their
sins.”
Luke 1:68-75 “Blessed be the Lord
God of Israel; for he hath visited and
redeemed his people...that we being delivered
out of the hand of our enemies
might serve him without fear, in holiness
and righteousness before him, all the
days of our life.”
Titus 2:14 “Who gave himself for us,
that he might redeem us from all iniquity,
and purify unto himself a peculiar people,
zealous of good works.”
1 John 3:8 “He that committeth sin is of
the devil; for the devil sinneth from the
beginning. For this purpose the Son of
God was manifested, that he might destroy
the works of the devil.”

2) Those who have been saved from
their sins need not continue to sin and
repent
Luke 15:7 “I say unto you, that likewise
joy shall be in heaven over one
sinner that repenteth, more than over
ninety and nine just persons, which need
no repentance.”
John 5:14 “Behold, thou art made
whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing
come unto thee.”
Rom. 6:1-2 “What shall we say then?
Shall we continue in sin, that grace may
abound? God forbid.”

3) A child of God is able to overcome
temptation
1 Cor. 10:13 “There hath no temptation
taken you but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful, who will not suffer
you to be tempted above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make a
way to escape, that ye may be able to bear
it.”
2 Pet. 2:9 “The Lord knoweth how to
deliver the godly out of temptations.”

4) After being cleansed by the blood of
Jesus, it is possible to stay clean
Rom. 6:6-7 “Knowing this, that our old
man is crucified with him, that the body
of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth
we should not serve sin. For he that
is dead is freed from sin.”
Gal. 5:24 “And they that are Christ’s
have crucified the flesh with the affections
and lusts.”
Col. 1:22 “In the body of his flesh
through death, to present you holy and
unblameable and unreproveable in his
sight.”
James. 1:27 “Pure religion and
undefiled before God and the Father is
this, To visit the fatherless and widows in
their affliction, and to keep himself
unspotted from the world.”
1 John 5:18 “We know that whosoever
is born of God sinneth not; but he that is
begotten of God keepeth himself, and
that wicked one toucheth him not.”
Jude 24 “Now unto him that is able to
keep you from falling, and to present you
faultless before the presence of his glory
with exceeding joy.”

5) Grace does not cover over sin, but
gives power to overcome sin
Rom. 6:1-2 “What shall we say then?
Shall we continue in sin, that grace may
abound? God forbid. How shall we, that
are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
Rom. 6:15 “What then? Shall we sin,
because we are not under the law, but
under grace? God forbid.”
Titus 2:11-12 “For the grace of God
that bringeth salvation hath appeared to
all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness
and worldly lusts, we should
live soberly, righteously, and godly, in
this present world.”
Jude 4 “For there are certain men crept
in unawares, who were before of old
ordained to this condemnation, ungodly
men, turning the grace of our God into
lasciviousness”

6) Whoever sins is the servant of sin,
not the servant of God
John 8:34, 36 “Jesus answered them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever
committeth sin is the servant of sin.
If the Son therefore shall make you free,
ye shall be free indeed.”
Rom. 6:16-22 “Know ye not, that to
whom ye yield yourselves servants to
obey, his servants ye are to whom ye
obey; whether of sin unto death, or of
obedience unto righteousness? But God
be thanked, that ye were the servants of
sin, but...Being then made free from sin,
ye became the servants of
righteousness...for as ye have yielded
your members servants to uncleanness
and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now
yield your members servants to righteousness
unto holiness. For when ye
were the servants of sin, ye were free
from righteousness...the end of those
things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye
have your fruit unto holiness, and the end
everlasting life.”

7) Those who sin are spiritually dead
Rom. 6:13 “But yield yourselves unto
God, as those that are alive from the
dead.”
Rom. 7:5 “For when we were in the
flesh, the motions of sins...did work in
our members to bring forth fruit unto
death.”
Rom. 8:6 “For to be carnally minded is
death.”
Eph. 2:1 “And you hath he quickened,
who were dead in trespasses and sins.”
Col. 2:13 “And you, being dead in your
sins...”
1 Tim. 5:6 “But she that liveth in pleasure
is dead while she liveth.”

8) True Christians are dead to sin
Rom. 6:2 “How shall we, that are dead
to sin, live any longer therein?”
Rom. 6:6-7 “Knowing this, that our old
man is crucified with him, that the body
of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth
we should not serve sin. For he that
is dead is freed from sin.”
Rom. 6:11 “Likewise reckon ye also
yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin,
but alive unto God through Jesus Christ
our Lord.”
Gal. 5:24 “And they that are Christ’s
have crucified the flesh with the affections
and lusts.”

9) The wrath of God abides on those
who sin
Rom. 1:18 “For the wrath of God is
revealed from heaven against all ungodliness
and unrighteousness of men, who
hold the truth in unrighteousness.”
Rom. 2:8-9 “But unto them that are
contentious, and do not obey the truth,
but obey unrighteousness, indignation
and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon
every soul of man that doeth evil.”
Col. 3:5-6 “Mortify therefore your
members which are upon the earth; fornication,
uncleanness, inordinate affection,
evil concupiscence, and covetousness,
which is idolatry: For which things’ sake
the wrath of God cometh on the children
of disobedience.”
Eph. 2:2-3 “Wherein in time past ye
walked according to the course of this
world, according to the prince of the
power of the air, the spirit that now
worketh in the children of disobedience:
Among whom we all had our conversation
in times past in the lusts of our flesh,
fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of
the mind; and were by nature the children
of wrath, even as others.”
Heb. 10:26-27 “For if we sin wilfully
after that we have received the knowledge
of the truth, there remaineth no
more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful
looking for of judgment and fiery
indignation.”

10) Those that profess to be saved but
do not live holy will be surprised at the
Judgment
Matt. 7:22-23 “Many will say to me in
that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied
in thy name? and in thy name have
cast out devils? and in thy name done
many wonderful works? And then will I
profess unto them, I never knew you:
depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

11) Those who sin have no part of the
kingdom of God
Rom. 14:17 “For the kingdom of God
is not meat and drink; but righteousness,
and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”
1 Cor. 6:9 “Know ye not that the
unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom
of God?”
Gal. 5:21 “Of the which I tell you
before, as I have told you in time past,
that they which do such things [the works
of the flesh] shall not inherit the kingdom
of God.”
Eph. 5:5 “For this ye know, that no
whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor
covetous man, who is an idolater, hath
any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ
and of God.

”
12) Those that turn back to sin lose
their salvation
Ezk. 33:12-13 “The righteousness of
the righteous shall not deliver him in the
day of his transgression…neither shall
the righteous be able to live for his righteousness
in the day that he sinneth…if he
trust to his own righteousness, and commit
iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall
not be remembered; but for his iniquity
that he hath committed, he shall die for it.”
Gal. 2:17-18 “But if, while we seek to
be justified by Christ, we ourselves also
are found sinners, is therefore Christ the
minister of sin? God forbid. For if I build
again the things which I destroyed, I
make myself a transgressor.”
2 Pet. 2:20-22 “For if after they have
escaped the pollutions of the world
through the knowledge of the Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled
therein, and overcome, the latter
end is worse with them than the
beginning...The dog is turned to his own
vomit again; and the sow that was washed
to her wallowing in the mire.”

13) Those who sin cannot see nor know
God
Matt. 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they shall see God.”
Heb. 12:14 “Holiness, without which
no man shall see the Lord.”
1 John 1:6 “If we say that we have
fellowship with him, and walk in darkness,
we lie, and do not the truth.”
1 John 2:4 “He that saith, I know him,
and keepeth not his commandments, is a
liar, and the truth is not in him.”
1 Jn 3:6 “Whosoever abideth in him
sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not
seen him, neither known him.”
3 John 11 “He that doeth evil hath not
seen God.”

14) Christians are not to fellowship
those who profess salvation but continue
to sin
1 Cor. 5:11 “But now I have written
unto you not to keep company, if any
man that is called a brother be a fornicator,
or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer,
or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with
such an one no not to eat.”
2 Thess. 3:6 “Now we command you,
brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from
every brother that walketh disorderly,
and not after the tradition which he received
of us.”
Eph. 5:11 “And have no fellowship
with the unfruitful works of darkness, but
rather reprove them.”
1 Tim. 5:20 “Them that sin rebuke
before all.”
2 Tim. 3:2-5 “For men shall be lovers
of their own selves, covetous, boasters,
proud...unholy...lovers of pleasures more
than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:
from such turn away.”
2 John 9-10 “Whosoever transgresseth,
and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ,
hath not God...If there come any unto
you, and bring not this doctrine, receive
him not into your house, neither bid him
God speed.”

15) Christians are to walk in the Spirit,
not in the lust of the flesh
Rom. 8:1 “There is therefore now no
condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but
after the Spirit.”
Rom. 8:13 “For if ye live after the
flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the
Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body,
ye shall live.”
Gal. 5:16 “This I say then, Walk in the
Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of
the flesh.”
Gal. 5:24 “And they that are Christ’s
have crucified the flesh with the affections
and lusts.”
1 Pet. 2:11 “Dearly beloved, I beseech
you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain
from fleshly lusts, which war against the
soul.”
2 Pet. 1:4 “Having escaped the corruption
that is in the world through lust.”
16) Christians keep themselves
undefiled
2 Cor. 7:1 “Having therefore these
promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse
ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh
and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear
of God.”
1 Thess. 5:22 “Abstain from all appearance
of evil.”
2 Pet. 3:11 “Seeing then that all these
things shall be dissolved, what manner
of persons ought ye to be in all holy
conversation and godliness.”
2 Pet. 3:14 “Be diligent that ye may be
found of him in peace, without spot, and
blameless.”
1 John 3:3 “And every man that hath
this hope in him purifieth himself, even
as he is pure.”
1 John 5:18 “We know that whosoever
is born of God sinneth not; but he that is
begotten of God keepeth himself, and
that wicked one toucheth him not.”

17) Whoever commits sin is of the devil
John 8:41-44 “Ye do the deeds of your
father...Ye are of your father the devil,
and the lusts of your father ye will do.”
Eph. 2:2 “Wherein in time past ye
walked according to the course of this
world, according to the prince of the
power of the air.”
1 John 3:8 “He that committeth sin is
of the devil; for the devil sinneth from
the beginning.”
1 John 3:10 “In this the children of
God are manifest, and the children of the
devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness
is not of God, neither he that loveth
not his brother.”

18) Christians follow the example of
Christ
1 Pet. 1:15-16 “But as he which hath
called you is holy, so be ye holy in all
manner of conversation; Because it is
written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
1 Pet. 2:21-22 “Christ also suffered for
us, leaving us an example, that ye should
follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither
was guile found in his mouth.”
1 John 2:6 “He that saith he abideth in
him ought himself also so to walk, even
as he walked.”

19) A holy life does not produce sinful
fruit
Matt. 7:17-18 “Even so every good
tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt
tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good
tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither
can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.”
Luke 6:43 “For a good tree bringeth
not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a
corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.”

20) Christians have an undefiled conscience
Acts 23:1 “And Paul, earnestly beholding
the council, said, Men and brethren,
I have lived in all good conscience
before God until this day.”
Acts 24:16 “And herein do I exercise
myself, to have always a conscience
void of offense toward God, and toward
men.”
1 Tim. 1:5 “Now the end of the commandment
is charity out of a pure heart,
and of a good conscience, and of faith
unfeigned.”

21) It is not what we profess, but what
we live that counts
Matt. 7:20 “Wherefore by their fruits
ye shall know them.”
Luke 6:46 “And why call ye me, Lord,
Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
2 Tim. 3:5 “Having a form of godliness,
but denying the power thereof.”
Titus 1:16 “They profess that they
know God, but in works they deny him.”

22) Those who sin cannot enter heaven
John 8:21 “Then said Jesus again unto
them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me,
and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye
cannot come.”
Rev. 21:27 “And there shall in no wise
enter into it any thing that defileth, neither
whatsoever worketh abomination,
or maketh a lie.”

23) A Christian is a new creature; old
sinful ways are passed away
Ezk. 36:26-27 “A new heart also will
I give you, and a new spirit will I put
within you: and I will take away the
stony heart out of your flesh, and I will
give you an heart of flesh. And I will put
my spirit within you, and cause you to
walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep
my judgments, and do them.”
2 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore if any man be
in Christ, he is a new creature: old things
are passed away; behold, all things are
become new.”

24) Salvation brings a heart perfection
that was unattainable under the Old
Testament
Heb. 7:19 “For the law made nothing
perfect, but the bringing in of a better
hope did.”
Heb. 10:14 “For by one offering he
hath perfected for ever them that are
sanctified.”

25) Those who love God keep His commandments
John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my
commandments.”
John 14:21 “He that hath my commandments,
and keepeth them, he it is
that loveth me.”
1 John 2:3-4 “And hereby we do know
that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
He that saith, I know him,
and keepeth not his commandments, is a
liar, and the truth is not in him.”

I appreciate that... but instead of copy pasting from a commentary or an article, why dont you tell me in your own words what it is that you believe. I simply dont have time to read that lengthy post.

If you believe this so strongly, it should be no problem for you to just tell me what you believe.

I do admit that it is rather lenghty, but in it is found the reason why I know that Christians do not commit sin.

Brother, belive it or not sinig and not sining is what makes the diference between Knowing God and not Knowing God. Brother if what you are saying is true then Christians have a licence to sin and siners do not. If what you are seying is true then Christ has no power what so ever to free from the bondage of sin. If what you are saying is true then The Bible is wrong.

Brother, If what you are saying is true then I am still a siner and thus I will go to Hell.
If what you say is right then God is a lier and an Unjust God.

If what you say is right then we are all going to Hell.

Brother, according to the Bible what is necesary to enter into Hell?

Sin is the Visa to Hell Brother. Do you not Agree?

Love you in Christ brother.

If what you are seying is true then Christ has no power what so ever to free from the bondage of sin.

I believe this is the key to your misunderstanding. Freeing us from the bondage (or wages) of sin is what He did for us. The wages of sin are death... hell. But He paid the price for us, freeing us from death and hell, and giving us eternal life.

As a result, we desire to serve Him and live for Him. In so doing, we avoid sin. But Paul made it clear that even he struggled and didnt always do the right thing. The other Apostles told us that we should confess our sins one to another, and if we should sin, Jesus is our advocate.

I am not preaching license any more than Paul did. In fact, many accused Paul of the same thing you have accused me of.... preaching license to sin.

But you preach legalism... and it is just as deadly as license.

You dont preach God's mercy and love, you preach a god who will abandon us if we fail Him. Imagine if I did that to my kids... How much more will God not abandon His?

It is impossible for someone to preach what you are, and truly live in joy and freedom. You can tell me you experience it all you want... but I wont believe you.

Christ's righteousness put to our account is why we get into Heaven, and not our own.

Those who believe, are justified once and for all. The process of sanctification is ongoing until we reach Heaven. It sounds to me that you believe that sanctification and justification are linked together, and must be kept by the individual. But brother this is the fatal error of Roman Catholicism, and the other semi-Pelagian groups who do not understand the difference between justification and sanctification.

L

Brothers: You are found trying to defend sin in your lives. Will one verse given by scripture be not right against your professions. Why are you then proving this wrong.

1 John 5:18 “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is
begotten of God keepeth himself, and
that wicked one toucheth him not.”

Is that enough. Maybe not.

Whoever commits sin is of the devil
John 8:41-44

1 John 3:8 “He that committeth sin is
of the devil; for the devil sinneth from
the beginning.”

1 Pet. 1:15-16 “But as he which hath
called you is holy, so be ye holy in all
manner of conversation; Because it is
written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”

1 John 2:6 “He that saith he abideth in
him ought himself also so to walk, even
as he walked.”

A holy life does not produce sinful
fruit
Matt. 7:17-18

Acts 24:16 “And herein do I exercise
myself, to have always a conscience
void of offense toward God, and toward
men.”
Ezk. 36:26-27 “A new heart also will
I give you, and a new spirit will I put
within you: and I will take away the
stony heart out of your flesh, and I will
give you an heart of flesh. And I will put
my spirit within you, and cause you to
walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep
my judgments, and do them.”

2 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore if any man be
in Christ, he is a new creature: old things
are passed away; behold, all things are
become new.”
Has that happened in you? Because if you sin you are still doing the same things you once did.

John 14:21 “He that hath my commandments,
and keepeth them, he it is
that loveth me.”

Do you love him? how come you do not keep his comandments. Because if you sin you do not keep his comandments.

1 John 2:3-4 “And hereby we do know
that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
He that saith, I know him,
and keepeth not his commandments, is a
liar, and the truth is not in him.”

Where those scriptures suficient. Or do you still try to contradict them.

Like I said before , all of this I am doing to Glorify God and that his truth would shine upon all darkeness.

I am sorry to hear that the God you Worship does not have the Power to keep you from sin.

Love you in Christ . Brother Sammy.

Sammy,

"Who can discern his errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then will I be blameless,
innocent of great transgression."

Psalm 19:12,13

The psalmist asked God to forgive his hidden faults. Were his faults hidden from God or from himself? Surely God knows about all of a mans faults, but many times our faults remain hidden to ourselves.

There is an article in the text sermons by Charles Finney called "Breaking Up The Fallow Ground". If you can read that and still believe you have attained sinless perfection then I don't know what else to say.

Remember there are sins of commission and sins of omission. The article shines a greater light on these things. God bless you Sammy as you serve the Lord. I am glad to hear you are not satisfied with a lukewarm Christianity.

You are right... We are all going to Hell. Only through the grace of the Lord are we purified.

God does has the ability to do what ever He wants. If He wanted to make us all not sin, we wouldn't. But then truly, Jesus' death on the cross would be meaningless.

If someone says that he does not sin, then they are guilty of sin. 1 John 1:10 "If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us."

Remember, John is writing to believers... Christians, not the unsaved.

Hello Brother.

"If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us."

That is true indeed. It is the word of God. Brother, I did not say that I have not sined, but I said that since God's Grace cleased me from all sin that I had commited I do not sin thereafter. How can I loving God do the same thing that cost him his death on the Cross?
Brother if you truly love him you will not sin.
Once you know that there is power in the blood of the Lamb(Christ) to keep you from sin you will never be the same. I am sorry to hear that you all give into temptations, thus sining, when God's power is enough to give you strenghts to obercome every obstacle the Devil might bring.

Brother if you truly love him you will not sin.

I truly love Him and I do sin. I would be sinning in saying that I do not sin. I am a new being because of the Resurrection, but I am not perfected yet until Christ returns.

Rev 22:3-4 "And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads."

Once Christ returns, there will be no more sin, only the oneness with the One. Until that time, I am still an inperfect being capable of imperfection. Thank God for forgiveness and helping us walk as in Christ. Do not be decieved in your boasting, vanity is a sin as well.

I wonder if John committed a sin by bowing before the angel to worship him when given the Revelation? Was this enough to get him ousted from Heaven?

Brother, God has never written off His covenant people, chastened yes, damned because of sin, no. The OT gives us the fullest most wonderful view of our Father and His loving kindness for His people. Consider for a moment that the very sins they were committing were what the nations around them were destroyed for, yet God because of His covenant with David would not destroy Judah. how much more will He not damn His people who were placed into the covenant that Christ fulfilled for them.

Yes there will be chastening, and there will be failures, and those bring us quickly and more humbled back to Christ and His righteousness, and His sacrifice. This is how I am free!!! No other way. Free from condemnation and death in Christ, and in Christ never to be thrown out for those whom God called He justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified (Romans 8:30)

Those quotes from professing Christians at the beginning of this thread is absolutely disturbing and anti-scriptural.

A sinner being converted, which leaves the sinner still sinning, is a conversion without being converted!

A conversion that leaves a man a sinner is a conversion without a new birth!! A sinner who is converted is a new creature, all old things have past away!

Thank you, I've been there too - pride and condemnation by turns - mostly condemnation. The problem with much holiness preaching is that it emphasises the "DUTY" of attaining personal holiness instead of the fact that JESUS is our Holiness.

So that it becomes yet another exercise in works instead of receiving by faith.

Holiness is walking with HIM, in a childlike faith and trust, not self-consciously doing good works, or striving to attain perfection.

No longer am I afraid when I fail, rather seek to co-operate with Him and begin to learn to walk in Him, not my own striving.

Pride and despair both become ridiculous in the light of HIS finished work! There's nothing to be proud about, any more. And He has overcome, so how can one despair?

That's because our flesh is "wired" to do the law. Show me a set of rules, and things I must do in order to accomplish the task, and I'll muster the strength to do it.

But tell me, "no Someone else has done for you, and you must trust that Someone else for the grace to get through this", and I go crazy.

Do you belibe the Bible is the Word of God?

Most of you will aswer that you do have it as the Living Word of God.

Can you read This :
Romans 6:1-2
"What shall we say then?Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 6: 6-7
" Knowing this, that our old man is crusified with him, that the Body of sin might be destroyed, that we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is feed from sin.

Brother/Sister, The reason you canot obercome sin is because you have not died to that life of sin. Your old man is not Crusified with Him, that the Body of sin may be destroyed.

About two hours ago I was at Walmart and I picked up the new Charlie Daniels Band: Live From Iraq... and even tho ol' Charlie is a born again Christian, I'm sure there are those on this forum who would question MY faith because I purchased a secular CD.

What a critical spirit that has taken hold on this forum!

(By the way... if you love America, and you love our troops... like I proudly do... then you should give this CD a spin. It was recorded on Easter Sunday evening in Bahgdad, Iraq for our troops there. Good stuff. A very rousing rendition of How Great Thou Art on there too... not to mention a smokin' version of Rocky Top, the fight song of the UT Vols where I went to college)

Am I saved, or being saved or lost?
Heres my delimma.
I love Jesus, trust him and confess his Lordship over my life..
I used to lie, now I dont, I used to steal, now I dont. I used to Live for myself and pleasure, but now I dont.
But as time go's on He shows me something In my life that needs attending to, for instance I have this horrible problem with complaining about wrongs being done to me, from believers or work mates. I know Im supposed to be humble and endure persecution or lies about me and not defend myself, before I can even think, my tongue starts flapping and The Holy spirit convicts me and Im saying Lord please forgive me again. I hate this about me and ask God to remove this from me, and I will continue to ask the Lord help me stop doing this.
Will he deliver me, from my sin? stop doing this
will he say I forgive you?
will he say my grace is sufficient for you?
I will never condone my behavior. I hate it and want it gone.
until then Am I saved, being saved or lost?

Brother I have been through that as well. I have been misinterprited an been acoused of many things that have deeply hurt me, but do you want to know what I do. I don't know what Bible you're reading Krispy, but I see some awefull big laundry lists in my Bible. Quite a few of them start with, "You know you're a Christian if..." and "You know you're not a Christian if..."

No no... you're misunderstanding me. Notice I didnt say there wasnt a list in scripture... I said the ones people are coming up with on this forum are longer than anything I've seen in scripture.

People are coming on here with their pet doctrines and making their pet doctrines the litmus test. We were told a couple months ago that if you believe in the pre-trib rapture you're not saved. If you dont tithe you're not saved. If you dont believe in hyper-Calvinism you're not saved.

I'm well aware of what it takes to be saved. I;ve posted almost 4,000 posts on this forum... it's well documented what I believe, and yet people dont want to take the time to research all that I have written on here... everyone would rather be lazy and take one sentence I wrote last week completely out of context with everything else I've ever said... and then say I must be reading some wierd Bible or something.

But I really shouldnt be surprised by this, its what most people do to the Word of God... so I guess I shouldnt expect any better when it comes to my words.

And now, yesterday someone on here tells me they are praying that I'll get saved soon.

It's a good thing I sport a "high & tight"... it keeps me from pulling my hair out.

I told someone yesterday privately that I needed to take the weekend off from this forum and get my frustration level down... I regret that I did not heed my own advice.

If you no longer sin, and you are living in perfection, as you have told us

Brother when did I say I was perfect again?

then why did you need to ask Jeneatte for forgiveness?

Brother, you are mixing perfection with Holiness.

You see we are humans and we make mistakes.

I repeat, we make mistakes. But some how you think that making a mistake is commiting a Sin.

If a teacher asked me to tell him the answer to a quantum equation, or math, or whatever else, and I gave them an aswer that was inccorect would that be a sin? No brother, it would be a Mistake.

I do no belibe any Human can be perfect. To be perfect you must Know everything; And I know that only God has such perfectness.

Brother, beeing unperfect dosen't mean that I have to sin.

I can make a mistake, like I did with Janeatte, I can make a mistake spelling something, and then ask forgiveness, not because it was a sin, but because it was a Human mistake wich I wanted to fix.

I hope I explained myself :-)

If not brother, then just ask, I would be more than Glad to answer.

Thanks liveforgod.
yes I have listened to Keith Daniel, I love his teaching, but only have listened to a few of his sermons.
and yes I suppose it is between me and God about my little problem, and maby its not necessiarily a sin issue compared to a charector issue. I have problems seperating the two. I just see a flaw in me as sin and I definately need Christ to deliver me from it.

Jeanette,

HopePurifies doesn't have internet connection this weekend. She wanted me to tell you that she is sorry for misunderstanding you and that the things she said don't apply to you.

That's the condensed version :-)

I hope that my reaction didn't cause any hurt.

It was strange, becaue even when reading the post and getting more and more angry and frustrated with it, I was aware that the reaction was against the words, not the person.

I wasn't even personally offended at being misunderstood, as I would have been not so long ago.

Yet I don't think I've ever spoken so strongly on SI - I'm just not in the habit of ranting like that!

Even now I keep asking the Lord do I need to repent for being angry? and there's just no answer that it was! As if it was somehow OK to be angry that time.

I hope I'm not trying to justify anything. The wierd thing is that, even at the time, I knew the anger wasn't directed against you, however it sounded.

But in that case who or what was it directed against?? :-?

Still pondering on that one. Have a feeling the Lord is teaching something important but don't know what it is yet.

Anyone?

But of course you are forgiven, sister Hope! (Is that your real name?)

(Sorry for that mistake :-? )

PS, does everyone have a topsy-turvy size difference between quotes and comments on quotes - the quotes bigger instead of smaller? I tried to correct it by sizing up the comments, but it just takes too long.

A technical blip?

LiveforGod, I have another question that may help me understand your first post and this post/

I repeat, we make mistakes. But some how you think that making a mistake is commiting a Sin.

this is the question, how do we define the difference between mistakes and sin?
I knew a pastor who would not say the word sin to his congregation, because he didnt like the negative connotation. I stopped trusting him after that because all I could think about is
EZEKIEL 3. I just thought he was misrepresenting Christ.
I Thought we have all sinned and come short of the Glory of God, and were brought into God's good graces with Christ and he takes us through a process of purification\\sanctification\\holiness.
Maby for some it happens all at once, I just dont know anyone personally. But I do see people growing in the Lord.
I guess it would all come down to what we define as sin.
Im still learning. :-)

Hi LiveforGod,

Its obvious that you don't sin if you give the incorrect answer on any mathematical test! :-)

But do you never have any sinful thoughts?

That's a very good question poet!

I guess it would all come down to what we define as sin.

Well, how about this: "Sin is the willful rebellion against the revelation of God that has been given to you."

Hello Warrior4Jah.

But do you never have any sinful thoughts?

What do you mean Brother?

Can I ask this?

Do any of us have the ability to control thoughts from coming in to our minds?
No we don't.

But we shure do have the ability not to commit those sins which we are tempted to do.

A thought to do sin is a temptation if you do not dwell in it. A Thought of sin becomes sin if you let it come to your heart.

Jesus talked about this once, when he sayed that whosoever lusteth after a Woman has allready sined in his Heart.

Brother it is inevitable for us to avoid the thoughts the Devil places on our minds, but you can choose what to do with those Thoughts, wheter to pay attention to them by dwelling on them or Ignore them and seek God in Prayer and in Reading his Word.

Temptations will come, but there is power in God to obercome them all.

God Bless you.

Hi Poet

Thinking on this, and also the fact that mistakes and sins are not the same, I began to wonder what I really believe Scripture says about the holiness/sanctification issue. For there was a journey of many years constantly seeking, yearning, striving after righteousness, before even beginning to understand…

The following is an attempt to put it all together.

It's best to begin at the beginning:

1. God created everything perfect, without flaw.

2. God expected man to walk with Him, depend utterly on Him, and exercise His authority on earth, over the rest of the natural creation.

3. Man listened to Satan instead, and came out from under God's protection and guidance, and chose to go his "own" way independently of the Lord. This was really Satan's way; man's rebellion brought him into bondage to sin, not freedom to do as he chose.

4. All Adam's descendants have inherited this fatal tendency to want to "run our own lives", as we see it, while (usually unknowingly) we are actually now slaves to sin, self and Satan. As rebels against our Creator we could only look forward to physical and spiritual death, and the wrath of God poured out on us.

5. Yet He found a way to rescue us and set us free from bondage to sin, as Adam was free in the beginning - and more. As the lines of the hymn say:

In Him the tribes of Adam boast
More blessings than their father lost

6. That's why Jesus came. That's why He died, rose again and ascended into heaven.

He IS the way back to God.

He has conquered death, sin and hell.

7. If we let Him, He will conquer these things in us - including (when He returns) the "last enemy", physical death.

I think we probably all agree so far?

Now the tricky part - tricky to understand and trickier to explain. That's why I quoted the verses about becoming as little children. Really only a childlike faith can begin to understand, can begin to come into true Christian maturity, and find true holiness.

The truth, as yet dimly seen, calls out to me like a trumpet blast. As Wisdom in the book of Proverbs cried out:

1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
2 She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
3 She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.
4 Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.
5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge…

I believe that the first step to true holiness is to be "converted and become as little children". This is the starting point.

This is the opposite of Adam's rebellion, the opposite of what we see even in little children when they begin to feel they want to be more “grown up”! Their aim is to be more independent, to have their own way, follow their own will, make their own decisions, stop having parents and teachers tell them what to do…

This is the root of original sin. I think that the song “I Did It My Way” is the most tragic song ever written, and the one that most accurately expresses the heart of unsaved mankind…

And the conquering of this is, I believe, the beginning of true holiness.

Jesus both set the example and gives the power to do it. That’s why He said, “Father, not my will but thine”. The power to set aside one’s own will and choose God’s instead. The power to be free of self, of “my own way” and “what I want”…

John 3:12-13
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

I don’t despair any more over feeling I have sinned, because of knowing that I’m now on His side, not on Satan’s side,

There is even hope in a problem such as you spoke of – maybe there’s what seems an ingrained flaw, sin, habit, “character issue” or whatever it may be that troubles our conscience. Whether it is actually sin or something that seems to trip us into sin makes no difference, the Lord is able to deliver!

As the Lord said to Pharaoh, so He says to Satan, and any hold he may still seem to have in our lives:

Let my people go, that they may serve me

Sorry this is rather long - it's the fruit of much pondering, but is not meant to be a "definitive" essay on holiness, just some meditations on the subject.

In Him

LittleGift, You're spoiling me with your font size. It's hard to go back to reading the normal sized font once reading yours. Now I'm wishing the "normal size" was the size you're posting in. :-D

I was just on the Devotional Thoughts portion, and reading a bit about Romans 8:28 and 29 - more toward 29 though and was enjoying it.
Would you factor these two verses into this exchange? I believe you could bring much out of those two verses if you have the time, because I don't.

Oh, and yes, I do believe that we can become angry at a topic and not a person.
It appears though - on this thread - it's been more of a misunderstanding between All and nothing more.
Thank you.

Yes!

Jesus taught me about cleanliness with his conversation with his friends:

"The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean..."

I am clean: since I was born again there is no willful sin in my life. Temptation does not have any "bite". This is all Jesus' work, I just had to die.

But as I walk through this life, sometimes I look down and see my feet are dirty. Usually I've failed to live up the the FULL level of maturity Jesus calls us to. Or failed to love PERFECTLY. Or I do not obey INSTANTLY. I then have to go and set things right, ask forgiveness, and get my "feet" washed by his pure hands.

It is never excusing sin/failure/mistakes (whichever one it may be for you), but always calling out "Clean me!"

Here are a few scriptures i haven 't seen here yet, though i skipped a few pages so they may be there:

The Lords prayer, or more appropriately called the Disciples prayer:

OUR FATHER, who art in heaven.....
FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS, as we also have forgiven our debtors...

The prayer is for believers, obviously, being the prayer Jesus taught His disciples to pray(not verbatim but the heart of it).

In the same vein we have Peter, coming to Jesus with pride to show Him how he would forgive greatly
"Lord, how often shall MY BROTHER sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?"
Jesus said to him, "...Up to seventy times seven".
Notice its a brother that is sinning. the rest of the passage shows God'd mercy to those who are merciful, not to those who are perfect, as is mentioned in the beatitudes.

Romans 5:10:For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more , having been reconciled, we will be saved by His life

As mentioned by others, we hate sin too, we want holiness too, but we know that we are not perfected yet as Paul said he wasn't either. We will be one day, when Jesus presents us the Father without blemish. Praise Jesus

Thanks guys.
This thread has let me remember that Im in the hands of the Lord and I have to trust him to mold me into whatever pleases him best.
And also remember if HE is revealing something about me he will also help me in my trouble.
God bless you and the Lord keep you.

Here is a quote that applies from John Wesley. Interesting that he deciphers between willful sin and sin that we commit in ignorance or lack of understanding. I believe willful sin is what we should be looking at. Sinless perfection involves fighting what we have been convicted as sinful at our current walk with Christ. But make no mistake from these posts, keep in mind:
Jesus said, be perfect, as our father in heaven is perfect....Jesus said it, not me :) If our willingness to have faith in what Jesus tells us grows, we just may find the strength to be what He has said we can be, by faith in His Word.

John Wesley:
To explain myself a little further on this head (Chrisitan perfection): (1) Not only sin, properly so called, (that is, a voluntary transgression of a known law,) but sin, improperly so called, (that is, an involuntary transgression of a divine law, known or unknown,) needs the atoning blood. (2) I believe there is no such perfection in this life as excludes these involuntary transgressions which I apprehend to be naturally consequent on the ignorance and mistakes inseperable from mortality. (3) Therefore sinless perfection is a phrase I never use, lest I should seem to contradict myself. (4) I believe, a person filled with the love of God is still liable to these involuntary transgressions. (5) Such transgressions you may call sins, if you please: I do not, for the reasons above-mentioned.

I was just reading in 1 Corinthians and these verses popped out at in me.

Paul is talking about our hope of resurrection of the dead through Jesus Christ.

He says in verses 15:42-44
42So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power

The flesh is weak(sinful) and imperfect. we are being sanctified, but we will be perfected when we stand before our Lord and Saviour, Christ Jesus. Praise God!

44It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body and a spiritual body

L

although i think that a life without any sin at all is practically impossible i do agree that the quotes are wrong. We are not to set our minds on failure or the flesh. Have the mind of Christ. As followers of Christ we must be like Him and Paul said to be an imitator of him too. Have the goal of not sinning, aim for Christ-likeness. Constantly seek the Spirit filled life and the will of the Father. Steadfastness and patience are key to our walk in the Spirit and in faith.
May we all be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding so that we may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, pleasing Him in all ways, bearing fruit in every good work. Please God, send your Spirit fresh everyday to us to enable us to do this.

Hi LiveForGod!

Thank you for replying there! :-)
Perhaps I did made my post a tad short. I'll try to explain my thoughts some more. Also please let me know if I might have misinterpreted you (I hope not).

You are correct that temptations aren't necessarily sins. This because Jesus was tempted and He did not sin. You say that we can choose and thats correct, although I don't have the ability to always choose the right thing at once. The Holy Spirit will point out if I sinned in a situation or acted ungodly.

Talking about the latter; Ungodliness is also sin you know, so if you say that a christian cannot sin you also say that a christian is never acting ungodly. Saying that one is sinless is saying that God is finished with you, so you as a person must now be how God fully intended you to be. Isn't anything less sin?

This question comes up in my mind; if you being sinless are you then always (acting) godly?

God bless!
Jonathan

L
LiveforGod

Hello Warrior4Jah.

Yes Brother, Ungodliness is also a sin.

Brother you are misunderstanding what I have been trying to say.

You mentioned something about Christians not being able to sin.

Christians are able to sin Brother. As Long as we are alive temptations will come and thus we have the opportunity to commit sin.

I am not saying that Onece you are a Christian you loose the ability to commit sin.

The Anbility to do it is there, just that if you do what you are supposed to do then God has the power to preserve you till the end.

If I where saying that one you are saved you lose the ability to sin I would be making another type of Calvinism, in this case it would be Samuelism
:-) (Because of my name)

How can saying that I am sinless mean that Christ is Finished with me?

Well Brother, He intended me/you to be Holly and he created me/you so that I/you would give him Praise and Glory.

God's work is not fished in me, and will never be on this life. There is never a place of spirituality that you can say I don't need God anymore.

You can be another Paul and still say "I can do nothing of myself".

I hope this explained somthing of what you tryied for me to explain.

God Bless you Brother.
