okay, I've been here for a while and should know this but I don't. Why do some of the posts say 'Anonymous' where the name used to be? does that mean the poster left SI and cannot return?

Yes, these are former members, now with deleted accounts by the moderators by one reason or other.

They were nasty in their postings and they didn't abide by the rules, respect for the site and it's members was violated. SI is pretty tolerant not willing that any should lose their membership, so the Anonymous Brethren went further than they should.

Sometimes they have just asked for their account deleted for what ever personal reason.
