Don’t know how many have read David Wilkerson’s message this month “The Private War of a Saint”, but found it very timely as I know several saints in a real physical battle right now.
One short paragraph I wish to share, we have all I think been there:
[i]“I know what it is like to endure such a season of heaviness over a loved one. It weighs on me like a burden as I sit in Church alongside our pastoral staff, listening to their messages of hope and encouragement, uplifting calls to faith. All the while my heart is breaking in pain.[i]The congregation sings, “Shake off those heavy bands, lift up those holy hands.” But it takes more than a song, more than a sermon, more than a Holy Ghost meeting to lift you up when you’re gripped by deep sorrow and a heavy heart. It doesn’t matter how powerful the sermon or how glorious the worship is. I leave the service not uplifted but still weighed down with grief. [i]In such seasons of heaviness, no message, no counselor – can lift your heaviness. It is your private war, and it’s something you have to battle through to victory. Prayer helps – indeed, all spiritual things help – but God wants it to be your victory.”
As humans, we have that need to help. We must help we have to do something. And yet often there is nothing we can do except stand in the gap, make up the hedge as it were.
In Christ,
Tony Sexton
Had my dates mixed up ... thought this was earlier this week.
Dear brother, have no fear
Yes, freecd, will pray for you... Will storm the throne room of God Almighty for you...
I have had cancer and know how it can be.. Thank the Lord He took care of me and He will you.
A verse that helped me was I do not know it all but it goes like this: "lean not on your own understanding, but learn to acknowledge God in all you ways"..
Here is some scriptures that helped me...
"Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I will look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until this violent storm is past.
I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me. He will send help from heaven to save me, rescuing me from those who are out to get me. My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness."
Psalm 57: 1-3
God bless you in all you do.
in His service,
debbi
Dear brother,
Several years ago I had to have surgery. My pastor’s wife called me that morning to pray for me and give me a word of encouragement – “your Father is with you”. One of my most precious memories is of being in the recovery room, coming out of the anesthesia, and the first thing I was aware of was my own voice repeating over and over “my Father is with me.” In the midst of these difficult times, when fear can be very real, the presence of our God is even more real. He is a very present help in trouble.
Along with the others I pray for your healing and a speedy recovery. And also for an ever increasing awareness, as your surgery draws near, of the incredible nearness of the Lord as your strength and peace.
Danielle

PRAYING FERVANTLY!!!
:-)
Still praying...
I pray that Jesus Christ, the Healer, will be close to you, at this trying time.
God Bless you.
I too had a surgery session for cancer. Everything happened so fast that there was almost no time to prepare mentally for the surgery.
When my wife and I (newly married, fresh out of college, w/o jobs and very little money)walked into the hospital, I began to tremble.
We stopped to use the restroom on the way to the surgery area. As I waited for her to come out of the restroom, I noticed a Bible on a hospital bench.
Hoping for some encouragement, I flipped open the Psalms and found 107. It was encouraging, but the theme that stuck out was:
"...praise the LORD [for] his goodness, and [for] his wonderful works to the children of men!"
I believe the version I read said:
"...praise the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful workings among the sons of men."
For whatever reason, the verse grabbed me. I clung to this verse and began to praise the Lord for His goodness and wonderful workings in my life. This was a tremendous help before, during and after the surgery.
Brian
