Must Watch: Jeff Noblit (Paul Washer’s Pastor) Video: God Helps Those Who Cannot Help Themselves

T
tjservant

Paul Washer said the reason he moved his family from Illinois to Alabama was to ensure his family would be under a good preacher (Jeff Noblit) when he was away on mission trips. I now understand. I may move myself…and I’m not even a Calvinist!

This is good stuff people. Do yourself a favor and watch this video

So that's where Paul Washer learned his heresy.
I wondered where he got that from being a so called Baptist.
He has alot of nerve calling others heretics. He had me until he started that judging other peoples salvation nonsence.

6,000,000 southern baptists and only 2,000,000 are really saved. How in Gods name does he know that? Theres probably more than 6,000,000 saved that have just come to church one sunday and found salvation but never came back, that does'nt mean their not saved. WHO SAYS YOU HAVE TO GO TO CHURCH TO BE SAVED!!!

IF that were the case most of the people that come to this web sight would being going to hell.

How many of you have given up on church? Hey, I know the feelin.

We would love to have you, TJ! (This is my church too.) There are several families from all over the US who have moved here, or are in the process of moving, because God's leading them here.

The world has a saying which the Christian Church has adopted, "God Helps Those Who Help Themselves".

But I love the title of this thread that is more biblically based, "God Helps Those Who Cannot Help Themselves".

I think I will take a gander at this video.

I think he is talking about those who keep a Southern Baptist membership, but do not attend. The ones that think putting their name on the roll is “enough” but have no desire to work for the Kingdom.

As for the other “stats” he gives the gentlemen’s name from whom he is getting this info.

I think he is just bringing notice to the fact that those who claim to be Christians and those we find actually embracing true Christianity does not add up.

Sounds to me like he's saying if you don't attend church your not saved. It also sounds like he's making a guiestimation of people that are not really saved that actually attend church.

As far as quoting another person. That's what heretics do. They quote others to make it"O.K.". If it's wrong it's wrong. I don't care if John the Baptist himself said it.

Peter said alot of things to, but that did'nt make it right. Hymaneus, and others said things that were not right either, but that did'nt make it right.

Good message.

I must agree with my brothers regarding Church goers.

Do only those who attend Church, true followers of Christ?

I noticed that he has quite a hard standard that if you don't show forth any fruit, you can't be a member. Since when do we speed up the process of the holy Spirit?

T
tjservant

I can hardly believe that with all the outstanding points brought out in this sermon that anyone is focusing on this Church attendance thing.

I won’t continue with this point, but I did not get this vibe at all…

Am I the only one that was not bothered by this terrible church attendance and membership condemnation?

Oh well. Some say spit the bones out…others say “heresy”.

I hope other people can enjoy this video and not be swayed by this matter.

TJ, the message was good. I was just commenting on something that bothered me and it seemed to have bothered others. But the rest of the message was good.

I know brother. Sorry if I came across poorly.:-)

I kinda like what he said about membership at his church. Many of the churches in my area only check to see if you have a pulse for membership. I thought he was speaking about a higher level of discernment in accepting members.

Oh well. Glad you got something from it.

Grace and peace brother.

I am sorry too TJ. You heard a message that excited your spirit and you wanted to share it with others and all we done is picked it apart. I was generally pleased with it, and I come from a Pentecostal background and I usually don't listen to Baptist preaching, but I liked what I heard and I was challenged on some points.

So God Bless you for sharing this here on SI, I appreciate it. ;-)

No apology needed brother. I love you and thanks for pointing out what you did.

You have mentioned something in this last post that I have been dealing with for about a year or longer now. I was raised Nazarene and the pastor was a “sinless perfection” preacher. I wasn’t under his preaching much before I dropped out of Church for 15 years. I had never heard a Calvinistic sermon until I found SI a few years ago. I am really drawn to some of this doctrine.

I was raised with the ideas of “I’m OK your OK” and everybody is really “good” deep down. To be honest I believe a lot of damage was done. I am still trying to find my way through all the perverted teachings I have been exposed to. It was either condemnation hell fire…never being good enough or sinless perfection.

The closer I am drawn to God the more I see how, apart from Christ, utterly worthless I truly am. It is in these times…when I am flat on the floor crying out to Him that I feel…closer to Him.

I may not be a Calvinist, but I wish I had been exposed to preaching more like this instead of the poison I endured as a youngster.

…just rambling.

just rambling
Please ramble some more. I am blessed by that testimony, I too was very much like yourself. Different denomination but all that you said was true of myself.
I am still trying to find my way through all the perverted teachings I have been exposed to. It was either condemnation hell fire…never being good enough or sinless perfection.
I hear ya on all points. When I was born again, I wasn't even going to Church. I was reading the Living Bible and I just received the gospel message that was being presented to me. And I walked with Jesus in that simplicity. Until I met up with a bunch that said if you didn't speak in tongues your going to hell. Well that put the fear of God in me. I took my eyes off of Jesus and started seeking these tongues. Man was I screwed up! Don't get me wrong, I did receive the holy Spirit and I did speak in tongues, but it wasn't what I really wanted in the first place. I just wanted my love affair with the LORD back. I was side tracked with a bunch of nonsensical paraphernalia.

Now I am rambling...

I did'nt mean to discourage you TJ. I'm really hard on stuff like this and sometimes I can come across as a little mean, I know. I just know where most preachers that preach stuff like, (so and so is not really saved) are going. It's the Baptist version of sinless perfection. If they sin and quit church their not really saved. The exact opposite of "They lost it", "They never had it".

I hate this doctrine brother, because I was really hurt and decieved by this stuff. So excuse me if I come down hard on it. It's not you.

Oh by the way. Most Baptists DO NOT claim to be Calvinists, in fact they reject calvinistic doctrine.

TJ, thanks for sharing this, I think by some of the replies on here, the true point was totally missed. It had nothing to do with you have to go to church to be saved, and mostly with the true depravity of man, the holiness of God, and the state of modern Christianity. Can't say there was a single thing I disagree with.

The brother is right about most Baptist don't consider themselves Calvinist, or moderate Calvanist, but simply because the Baptist doctrine of today, is not the true Baptist Doctrine, which is what Jeff is saying in this sermon.

Even Billy Graham, who I wasn't the biggest fan of, stated that he would be happy if only 5% of all the people who made decisions during his crusades were truly regenerated. Ravenhill stated similar things.

How can we say we belong to God, when there is nothing about ourlives that shows any proof thereof, think about it. I see it with the youth I work with at church and at camps. You can point to not going to church and focus on that, but that is not what he is saying.

Thanks for the sermon post. I have listened to him preach before and he is a God called preacher and without a doubt he spoke a God given message, right out of a God's given book. I followed along with him.

I seem to remeber a story about a man named Lazarus who laid at a gait and was full of sores and the dogs were licking his sores. Perfect explanation of a backslid Baptist.

Calvinism is heresy and I don't know any sound baptists who believe that garbage.

If you go to this church, do you know of any pastors like this in the Atlanta area. Could you ask the pastor if there are any like this? Or I might have to drive 3 hours.

Thanks, it would be greatly appreciated.

Let's turn this around. Who gives you the right to say they can be saved yet never attend a fellowship? Who says that you can live in rebellion to the Bible and be a Christian? I'm not talking about steeples, I'm talking about assemblies of the saints- the called out.

There are MANY who profess Christ that are going to Hell. MANY in the Baptist Church, along with every other movement and denomination. Why would you dispute that?

What does this mean? If you're poor with sores you are a backslid baptist?

I think that is a horrible example of a backslider, considering you have no idea from the text whether he was a backslider or not. Unless you believe that health and wealth junk, I don't see how you can see him as backslidden.

May i share a little bit of my own mind in this matter if i may please.

I believe that brother paul saying is to look deeper within our self and be truly honest within our own peace of mind. What truly is the fruit of the works we are doing for Christ sake?.

If this is not true what brother paul had said, why is it inflicting your sensitive nerve for you to scream about it?. Is this means there is things that not wanting to faced in our own life am i right?. If there is no guilt nor self seeking, nor blemish no evil things in our work of hand what ever he had said will bring us peace and encouragement.

This is goes to all of the believer not just a baptist, methodist, or what ever belief any one followed.

I know that we have to test all teaching, vision, and prophesy, etc... but still we can not be so self righteous about it.

I humbly apologise if what i have written and shared is not right.
But us believer continually seek the Lord, and according to
1 Corinthians 12:25 that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.

And also in

Ephesians 4:1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore He says:

“ When He ascended on high,
He led captivity captive,
And gave gifts to men.”[b]

9 (Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first[c] descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.- (NKJV)

We can no longer run or hide must face the truth which is the word of God ...

Any way my dear brother and sister in christ i better shut my mouth for i know i am guilty of sins and selfish gain get glory which i continually repent.

God would and will recieve all the GLORY of His creation.
