Barack Obama & Hillary Clinton: The Blind Leading the Blind

R
repentcanada

I came across the following article (Obama Gets Support in King's Inner Circle, With Some Exceptions) online tonight. I am going to be straight up with y'all. I already wasn't feeling well before I read this and after reading it I wanted to vomit. Let me explain the rationale behind saying this and the title of this post.

Barack Obama is a black man who is running to be the Democratic nominee for the Presidency of the United States of America. If he is successful he would be the first black man to ever be president of America, which starting 400 years ago brought Africans to its shores as slaves in the most inhuman, degrading way possible - making his Presidency most amazing keeping history in mind. He is also a professing Christian who is an advocate for the right for a mother to have an abortion and kill her unborn child is she so chooses. The terms Christian and pro-abortion DO NOT and CAN NOT co-exist. I would rather see a Ku Klux Klan member who is against abortion for all races become America's next president than Mr. Obama, and I am a 30 year old black man myself.

Read what the Word of God says in Psalm 22:9-11:

"Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb; You made me trust when upon my mother's breasts. Upon You I was cast from birth; You have been my God from my mother's womb. Be not far from me, for trouble is near; For there is none to help."?

King David says how the Lord was His God from inside his mother's womb! How can anyone who has been truly born again dispute that it is God who gives us life and that that life begins in the womb at conception?

Next up is Hillary Clinton, who is also running against Obama to be the Democratic nominee for the President of the United States. On January 21 she spoke, like Obama, at black church in Atlanta around the US Holiday for Martin Luther King Day. And if she is successful in becoming America's next President she would become the first woman to lead the U.S. We all know the oppression that women, of all races, have been subjected to over the years. From not being considered as equal to men, to not being able to vote, to not being paid on par with men in the same employment positions, etc. So for Mrs. Clinton to become the leader of the world "power" that is America would certainly be monumental. But, with grief and sadness, she like Obama is an advocate of a women's right to kill her unwanted, unborn child.

I could care less if the next US President is a Republican or Democrat, but I care heavily as to whether or not they are pro-life or pro-choice (a.k.a. pro-death).

Now I say this and I say it loud and without reservation:

BLACK CHURCH WHY ARE YOU ALLOWING BARACK OBAMA AND HILLARY CLINTON TO SPEAK IN YOUR CHURCHES?

WHY ARE YOU IN ANY WAY SUPPORTING THEM?

Don't you remember how John the Baptist rebuked Herod for sinning against God by sleeping with his brother's wife? Then after that he was beheaded for his standing firm for God's Righteousness and calling Herod to repentance. Is that why you are not upholding the Holiness of God? The cost may become too much? I find it quite ironic that both Obama and Clinton spoke at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, once pastored by Martin Luther King, Jr. Remember King had that great dream that "one day black and white children" would hold hands together and say "Free at least, free at least....Thank God Almighty We Are Free At Last"? Well since 1973, there have been 40 million children killed in abortions. THAT'S FORTY MILLION CHILDREN in America who never had the chance to sing "Free at last" because they were aborted by their mothers and doctors.

I will end not with my words, but the Words of the Living God from 1 John 5-10:

5This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;
7but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

America we are praying for you, your political leaders, and especially the Church

The Black Church is indeed in a delusion. I am also an African American. It grieves me to hear Black Christians brag about being a democrat. We are first and foremost representatives for the King. Yet many black churches put their vote behind someone that will make life easier for them, even if it means championing someone who will further the cause of abortion. I asked a African American Christian how could he vote democratic knowing that one day he would have to look terrible God of Genesis 1 in the eye one day and give an answer to why he voted for comfort when that comfor would mean the death of millions who God said He formed in the wound. You know what he said to me in a whining voice. "God is a forgiving God." I trust he will severely regret that logic in the day of eternity. May the Lord raise up voices likeunto Art Katz and Zac Poonen to awaken the play acting African American Church. Grace, Grace to you.

May the Lord raise up voices likeunto Art Katz and Zac Poonen to awaken the play acting African American Church.

I was listening to a sermon by Zac Poonen the other day. He has blessed me so much. Something he said though created a question in me.

He said that he's never been involved in politics and has never voted. Not once and he never intends to.

Is being politically active, and voting, part of a Christian's biblical service/duties? Is it scripturally a sin to not vote? I'm looking for scripture backing and not just opinions.

I do hope Paula will return to this thread and actually read repentcanada's post.

It's not just the Af/Am Churches - that's For Sure.

I listen closely all day as they cover these primaries and as they interview people from all sectors and think-tank rep.s --- and the Number 1 reason that is swaying people's votes is MONEY.

Once again, we're voting our pocketbooks.

They didn't interview many Af/Am people on the radio - mostly white - and the main concern is MONEY.

And I must ask - what has this Gov done to stop abortion anyway ? - in how many years now ?

Some of the Mega-Churches are backing either of the Democratic candidates also.

I said last year, that we'll probably get them both as a "couple". One as VP. We'll see, huh?

And what would McCain do about abortion?

What are we left with?

All that we've EVER had - GOD, Prayer and His Mercy Only.

Last Days Politics could drive ya nuts if you let it, but I'm relieved to see there are still some Christians left who will speak out for the Innocents being killed. And praying more will speak out against All unnecessary killing and cruelty.

And I have to agree with Andrew Strom where he said, the only way for God's Hand of protection to be over us in this coming recession or depression is to GIVE TO THE POOR and to the ministries that pass out Bibles & tracts in all languages.

We have to be just the opposite of this world. They're voting for money - we need to give ours away. Amen!

Just want to point out that Mike and Greg have made if clear that politics is one topic that is generally off limits on this website. There has never been a discussion about politics on here that has been productive, encouraging, uplifting... or even educational. Only divisive.

I'm one of those right wing ultra conservative types, so before you think that I am writing this in defense of Obama or Chelsey's mama... not so. And I think Bush and McCain are liberals.

I just know how these things go on here, and it's never good.

Just a warning.

Elanham wrote:

Elan, this is the current mentality of people in our community. I have had a black client tell me she will go ahead with her abortion and then afterwards ask God to forgive her! and she believed that with all her heart..was totally closed minded to my otherwise counsel. (FYI: I used to be a counselor at a Crises Pregnancy Center - did it for 15 years.)

Repentcanada, I hear your concern: why would the black community support any presidential candidate who will support abortion. And you grieve about this lack of holiness among your race. Brother (I am assuming you are a male), abortion is merely a symptom of a much greater problem. They are away from God! They may go to church regularly (actually, my black clients were far more religious then my white ones were and they understood my counsel much better BUT they did not care about their soul; the whites, on the other hand, were far more resistant to any pro-life counsel given.) but their churches did not require holiness from them. Their preachers will speak against immorality but there is no motivation among the youth to pursue it. One former NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of the Colored People) officer told me a contributing factor to this problem is the lack of morals among the clergy.

Repentcanada, the only solution to the problem you shared is a revival. May I suggest the problem is worse then you realize. At least in my part of the south. It not only is abortion, immorality, it is greed demonstrated by stupid lawsuits (if a black will drive out in front of a white person from a side road and you hit his/her car, he/she will sue you! No kidding! I saw a jury seated to deal with a lawsuit like this. These are common in our area.) But these are all symptoms of a greater problem and that is man is away from God.

As a white person, I am so gratified to hear these concerns shared by my black brothers and sisters...God bless you and do NOT give up! We need you or better yet, why do you not come down here and preach to them! Of course, you might get ostracized for acting like a 'whitey'.... but we are not living to win a popularity contest.

Hi everyone,

I'm going to post this in the public because the statement was made in the public here.

Ginnyrose,

You said

"And you grieve about this lack of holiness among your race."

Ginny, I'm not sure I understand you here?

Do you mean Adam's race? We all being made of one blood, and also being all of us guilty and polluted sinners?

You don't mean to suggest that white people or some other people are some how holy do you? Or others? And some others are not?

What do you mean?

Thank you,

Yes Ginnyrose I lived in North Carolina for a time and have friends and family so I know alittle of what is going on.

White, black, asian, etc we all have deceitfully wicked hearts - our sins are just manifest in different ways.

WE MUST BE BORN AGAIN! LORD DO A MIGHTY WORK!

Thanks for the sensitivity Sermon Index, God bless may we live for Christ's Honor and reach lost souls with the Gospel.

It’s the song of the redeemed
Rising from the African plain
It’s the song of the forgiven
Drowning out the Amazon rain
The song of Asian believers
Filled with God’s holy fire
It’s every tribe, every tongue, every nation
A love song born of a grateful choir

It’s all God’s children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
It’s all God’s children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns

Let it rise about the four winds
Caught up in the heavenly sound
Let praises echo from the towers of cathedrals
To the faithful gathered underground

Of all the songs sung from the dawn of creation
Some were meant to persist
Of all the bells rung from a thousand steeples
None rings truer than this

And all the powers of darkness
Tremble at what they’ve just heard
‘Cause all the powers of darkness
Can’t drown out a single word

When all God’s children sing out
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
All God’s people singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns.

You don't mean to suggest that white people or some other people are some how holy do you? Or others? And some others are not?

No, I do not mean that at all. Repentcanada answered your question beautifully. Read it. He expressed it like it is. There is a difference in how people respond to the same things. It is cultural...cannot deny it. I know of Choctaws who were raised in a white, godly home who think, act like their caregivers. So, please do not call me a racist: I love people of all colors. If I can find it I should post a humorous ditty written by a black about 'colored'. Maybe some other person knows what I am talking about and can share it?

As I understand Repent's concern, it is one I also share. He is grieved with his people who are so religious but who support abortion. How can they do it? How can they support presidential candidates who support this murdering business? And this goes for any God-fearing people. But Repentcanada, who ID'd himself as being black shared his concern from a Black's perspective.

Do you mean Adam's race? We all being made of one blood, and also being all of us guilty and polluted sinners?

We are all from Noah's race which means we are ALL in need of a Savior and no race is naturally more holy then another one. However, on my driver's license my race is listed as it is when census takers count people. I would guess this is true of every driver in the USA. What does your driver's license say? Or are you too young to drive?

Chris, does this answer your questions!

Blessings,

Chris,

I am at a lost to know what you mean. I mean no offense....if identifying Negroes as a race and whites as a race, Indians as a race...how can you take offense with that? It has not been until in recent years that people have split hairs of the usage of the term 'race' in identifying people according to color. And people are different. Nothing bad about that...just means that when you are aware of this you know better how to relate to them. And I love what people of different races (or color) bring into the mix of social interactions. To recognize it and talk about it is not offensive to southerners, whatever color they be.

Am I mudding the waters more? Brother, I live in the south and get along well with the people that populate our community.

Race, its issues , and all of its history and rhetorical consistency as it pertaineth to this country is still most confusing and filled with more disparities now more than ever. But do not think that the Lord Jesus isn't involved with the people or even care about the people who run this country. This is just a general response.

Oh yes he cares more than we think he does, he would love to use either candidates as it pertains to these two people in particular to simply call out to him and pray.

God has no limitations except the ones we Christians or self righteous so called believers put on him

Hi again Ginnyrose,

Ginny, making mention of the lack of holiness among a 'race' seems inflamatory at least?

Maybe there is another way to express these things?

What if these two candiates were to debate each other, and one turned to the other and said

"I hope you are as concerned as I am about the lack of morality among your race."

S
sermonindex

Chris... I really wanted to stay out of this one, but I think you're misunderstanding Ginny.

And I am a southerner, so someone is bound to get offended by me on this topic no matter what I say because most folks have a stereotype prejudice about southerners... but hear me out, brother.

Ginny was not saying that the race of a person makes them immoral or moral. Ever heard of "white trash"? I know plenty of immoral, depraved white people.

On the flip side, I know plenty of godly, loving black folks.

In this country, however, there is a problem among the black segment of the population that is perpetuated by the so-called "black leaders". It seems that rather than pull themselves up by their boot straps, many want to blame their condition and position in life on the abuses and horrors of the past.

Slavery was a scourge and an abomination in this country... and I wish it had never happened...

BUT...

I say get over it. (thats not pointed at anyone in this forum... this is just a general statement) No one in this country needs to be held back by anyone else anymore. I know black people who grew up in horrible conditions that fought to rise above it all and have become very successful. Colleges now bend over backwards and award scholarships in order to encourage black students to continue their education. (scholarships not available to white students... isnt that racist? Imagine scholarships only for white students!)

But there is an attitude of entitlement that prevails in the black community... "they owe me". No, I dont owe anyone anything concerning the sins of 5 generations ago. None of us were alive back then... and my ancestors were dirt farmers and mountain people... never saw a slave, much less owned one. And when they fought in that war they fought to protect hearth and home... not some politicians dream to keep the aristocrats rich.

My point is... it's not the race. Color of skin means nothing. Ask Moses, who's wife was Ethiopian.

It's the leadership, and the prevailing attitude that leads to what we see in the black community.

And real men like Bill Cosby have begun to speak out about this very thing I am saying... and the so-called "black leaders" have nearly wanted to crucify him. But Bill Cosby is exactly right.

I'm not letting the white population off the hook either. But since we're addressing the black community here, thats what I am addressing. Whites have no excuse for the excesses and sins and immorality that is rampant among them as well.

It's a people problem... it's a sin problem... black, white, hispanic, etc.

This initial post had little to do with skin color, gender, or even politics but predominantly the mass killing of children via abortion...........I think that is the greatest concern that so few within the church talk and want to deal with that on.

Krispy, yes you are from the South but have you ever read the book "Black like Me" where a white man dyed his skin and lived as a black man for a period of time? It really opened his eyes. Understanding the plight of a people is sometimes hard to fully comprehend from the outside....

There was a question posed earlier in the thread which stated something like, "have abortions declined in the post Clinton era" since Bush got into office. Does anyone have much information on this?

I know here in Canada our new Prime Minister alledgely is a Christian yet from my understanding since he has come into power nothing has changed as far as abortion legislation. Sad - very, very sad

C

Hi repentcanada...

I sent a PM to Taco a couple of days ago in regard to his question. Here is that post (with a few added statements):

Have there been less abortions in America since Bush became president?
I wanted to answer earlier, but I didn't want to answer within a political thread that might provoke heavy debate.

Abortion rates have declined every year during the Bush Administration. While the American population has increased quite a bit since abortion was made legal in 1973 (from slightly over 200 Million to slightly over 300 Million), the rate of abortions have dropped steadily since 1990. The steepest drop came in the first half of the 1990s, when the Republicans first took over Congress and quickly removed federal funding for abortion (instituted by the Clinton Administration).

By 2005, abortion decreased to a rate of 19.4 (per 1000 women). This is a steep decline from the high of 29.3 (per 1000 women) in 1980-81 and the 27.9 (per 1000 women) in 1990. What makes this figure more impressive is that it includes the "easy abortion pills" (like RU-486) that were legalized during the Clinton Administration.

While several groups would like to claim credit for this decline (including abstinence-based sex education in many states), it probably doesn't hurt to have had a conservative Congress from the early 1990s until last year. I shudder to think about the amount of unborn murders that will take place since the liberal infusion of Congress last year (including the promise by the Democratic Party platform of eased restrictions on abortion) along with the prospect of a Democratic president -- in which both Hillary and Barack Hussein Obama have promised wider abortion rights.

Yet science has also ironically been on the side of anti-abortion advocates. Years ago, abortion rights advocates did their best to make people think that an unborn baby is not alive. The media repeatedly used the favorite liberal word to describe an unborn baby -- fetus. Medical science, however, has allowed for great advances in treating children before they are born (including surgery). Consequently, more Americans have realized that an unborn child is a highly developed living human being. The only difference between MURDER and an ABORTION is simply a few inches of flesh.

So liberals have turned to their original argument -- the one that has the least chance of surviving in the Supreme Court. Abortion rights advocates once again claim that abortion is protected by the "right to privacy." This is amazing, because the "right to privacy" in Roe v. Wade had NOTHING to do with what a woman can do to her body (the government still prohibits suicide and murder -- even in the "privacy" of one's own home). Roe v. Wade dealt with the legality of a doctor's personal advice in regard to alternatives to pregnancy (especially in regard to traveling to states where it was legal). The only precedent that was cited was Griswold v. Connecticut.

Anyway, abortion rates and the number of abortions performed have declined over the past decade -- even though the population has increased. I've included a few links at the bottom. I hope this helps.

-Chris

Abortions began to drop between 1981 and 1982.

There was a sharp drop while Clinton was in office.

When they began to hand out birth control to minors and whomever, that was why.

They don't count "the morning after pill" abortion neither.

So, the laws have not changed - except that, birth control doesn't even need a parent's permission now, for prescriptions and Planned Parenthood - has been very busy helping these youth etc..

Sad is right.

I will say this to you my dear brother and fellow marine comrade and this is all I will say or respond to in anyway, shape or fashion on this subject,

Krispy,

u know nothing concerning this subject as u ought to. I am african-american and Irish, but I look AA, and from the south, but no one is aiding and abetting people of color nor or their any excuses still being made on behalf of any one race. YOU ARENT BLACK OR AFRICAN AMERICAN SO U CANNOT COMMENT ON THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION OR SUBJECT. U DO NOT WEAR MY SKIN COLOR OR THE ONES U THINK U CAN REFER TO.

U SIMPLY HAVE NO WAY OF EVEN BEING HEARD, I DONT EVEN CARE IF ANOTHER BLACK PERSON AGREES WITH U> THEY HAVENT MET SOLIDIFIED OR DEFINITE STRUGGLE, THEY JUST REAP THE REWARD OF THE ONES WHOM HAVE S-T-R-U-G-G-L-E.

These so called horrible, ungodly, deceitful, and hideous mindsets, and deeds are still being carried out against people of color. It is still a terrible time in our history and in the here in now, that is racial acts of injustice and deep, very deep imbedded pain. Brother I know, I have been a part of it personally on more than one account, Brother I have also been a an outspoken member of such heinous acts of verbal and physical occurrence.

So it is a mad insult and lack of personal understanding for someone of your wisdom and character to say such a thing. I have learned that many caucasian people that I meet, that is , so called brethren and others alike seem to think they know what is wrong with black people who aren't really black that is the stereotypical color that has been given them just as the N word to further stereotype and stamp people of color or African-American people with.

You or any other person that is not of color or particularly African-American cannot speak for what u thunk u know as it pertains to the struggle or skin color of any other person besides yourself or your particular race. Please, I ask u out of proverbial wisdom that u rethink what u think u know because of your hearing in media and in other aspects of propaganda or false misleading information.

Now Brother, and u r my dearest brother in Christ, but I feel compelled to respond to u in this post because I feel u through ur post, and God has blessed u brother with understanding of his word. So do not think or allow ur flesh to rise as I display this info, but it really is to hopefully educate u as a brother in Christ about that u DO NOT know what it is to struggle in slavery and in-depth crushing, and humiliating pain that is still resonating in the African-american community.

I applaud Barack Obama, but he is half AA and half caucasian, and I say that because people , powers that be have different views about how they perceive what they perceive. Perception is definitely in the eye of the beholder, but nevertheless unless one is properly educated and of course wears the same skin color that all one can comment on is what they read or heard

Even the scriptures state that we can only "speak that which we have known and have seen with our eyes, and especially as Christians because the truth is involved, and that pure unadulterated truth is Christ.

Also, theses so called representative "black" leaders are only leaders in their own eyes, because the majority of people of color will tell u that these people are more like zealot or people who want to be heard instead of holy spirit freedom fighters. I do believe that God will use men and women to fight for the cause/s of others. That's right, the Lord Jesus has a place for such people, but nevertheless, it is in vain unless the Lord builds that house. God must build up, and allow whatever has to be torn down.

EJG...

I'm not interested in debating this with you. As I said, because I am from the south no matter what I say will be misunderstood by someone.

First off, my brother, I am not 100% caucasion. This is an assumption on your part. I am 25% Cherokee Indian... and my ancestors from that culture had their own hardships to endure. And certainly Indians in this country have not gotten a fair shake either. And guess what, my friend, I have black hair and a tanned complexion year 'round.

Secondly, as an American I am entitled to my views on differing matters, and have a right to speak them freely (and within the guidelines of Sermon Index when voiced here).

Thirdly, it seems that we agree about "black leaders", not sure what the contention is there.

Fourthly, all I was pronouncing was "personal responsibility". What you failed to gleen from my post (I'll assume you just read thru it too quickly or something, because my point was clear...) is that it doesnt matter what race a person belongs to... they CAN and SHOULD rise above any adversity (with Christ's help and empowerment) and make something of their lives according to God's will. Black, white, red, purple... it doesnt matter.

Did I say that it's as easy for blacks as it is for whites? No. I never said that. Nor do I think that. But no one, regardless of skin color, should blame any one else if they fail to pull themselves up by their boot straps and meet their full potential.

But unfortunately you assumed that I'm 100% caucasion. And since I am from the south you assumed I must have some racists tendencies (just as I predicted someone would).

As you know, since you're a brother-in-arms, I had brothers in the Marines from all different races... black, japanese, jewish, hispanic, white... you name it. And would have given my life for any one of them without a second thought. Being involved in sports I have had fellow athletes of different races compete with and against me. As a coach, it might surprise you to know that ALL FOUR of the coaches that coach for me are black. I hand picked my coaches.

It is an insult to those of the AA race who know me for you to make the assumptions about me that you have.

And I'm not even 100% white.

Like I said before... the issue is a PEOPLE problem, not a race problem. The issue is a SIN problem, not a SKIN problem. Black AND white.

Look at the Cherokee people here in NC... my own people. Poverty reigns. Alcoholism and casinos. But can a Cherokee man blame the white man for this? NO... if he is a drunk it's HIS fault, and no elses. If he has lost his house to the casino... it's HIS fault and no elses.

Unless you're a Calvinist... then it's God's fault. :-P ... sorry, coulnt resist that!

Hello…

Yes, there was a significant drop in abortion during the Clinton Administration, but this probably had more to do with a conservative Congress than the pro-abortion measures attempted and implemented by the Clinton Administration. The Republican Congress banned federal funding of abortion -- which was part of the welfare reform legislation of the "Contract with America."

Many of these articles (including the CDC figures), by the way, do count abortive "morning after pills" within their figures. Another recent article by pro-abortion group Planned Parenthood included a figure of every single "abortion pill" sold in the United States as a legal abortion. Even with these numbers added, there was still a noticeable decline in the number of abortions.

The most accurate figure in this issue is not thenumber of abortions performed each year (because this lower number does not reflect the increase in US population). What makes the decreases in abortion most notable is that of the rate (number of abortions per 1000 women). This number has fallen considerably over the past decade (even though “abortion target groups” – low income, minority women – has increased dramatically). In addition, it is interesting to note that the birth rate has actually increased slightly -- especially amongst minority women.

Birth control (condoms, etc...) probably does play a significant role in the rapid decrease in abortions. But as "questionable" a tactic as this might be for some, it does prevent the murder of a human life. However, we can't discount the other legislative measures that have taken place. Abstinence-based education has been taught increasingly over the past eight years, especially with funding from President Bush’s “faith based” initiative. Partial birth abortions have been banned by the Republican Congress. Many states have passed legislation that makes it difficult (if not impossible) for minors to obtain abortions without parental consent. The Republican Congress withdrew funding for most abortions during the 1990s. One state, South Dakota, even banned abortion altogether (while the measure passed the legislation and was signed by the governor, some liberals successfully gathered signatures on a petition that forced the issue to a vote, and it was rejected by a slight majority of voters). Regardless, we should recognize that there have been changes in the laws concerning abortion in this regard.

Probably the most important individuals in regard to the issue of abortion are neither the President nor the Congress. The nine members of the U.S. Supreme Court have immense power in regard to the Constitutionality of this barbaric practice. Recently, the slightly conservative Supreme Court has defended prohibitions of some abortions. However, this could change if a liberal president appoints more activist judges to the Supreme Court. The abortion argument currently deals with the “right of privacy.” However, this argument has serious Constitutional holes in it (since when did “privacy” allow for the Constitutionality of murder?). Right now, the Supreme Court is just one or two votes away from declaring abortion to be unconstitutional on the grounds of “cruel and unusual punishment.”

So yes, Taco, the number of abortions during the last decade has fallen dramatically. More importantly, the abortion rate has fallen dramatically. And yes, there has been legislation passed that has targeted abortion.

Should Christians pledge allegiance to the United States? I have thought this dating back to a summer bible camp in Virginia I was with.

As well, it is very unfortunate that most people are ignorant of the fact that "the pill" contains abortive elements....

There is alot of love on SI, God bless all.

Here are some sobering stats concerning abortion:

Forty-five million have been aborted since roe v wade.

One third of these aborted are black babies = 15,000,000.

Current population of blacks in in the USA is 37.1 M. or 12.4% of the total population.

Here is an article sent out by Christian Newswire:
ATLANTA, Feb. 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., today decried Planned Parenthood's use of her uncle's image and words on its website.

"Planned Parenthood is no stranger to deception. I know firsthand because prior to my abortion, a Planned Parenthood doctor told me that my baby was just a 'blob of tissue,'" said Dr. King. "Now, Planned Parenthood lies by trying to imply that my uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., would somehow endorse the organization today. He most certainly would not."

"Uncle Martin accepted an award from Planned Parenthood in 1966 when abortion was illegal in every state and before Planned Parenthood started publicly advocating for it," continued Dr. King. "In Planned Parenthood's own citation for Uncle Martin's prize, not only is no mention of abortion made, it states that 'human life and progress are indeed indivisible.' In 1966, neither the general public nor my uncle was aware of the true agenda of Planned Parenthood, an agenda of death that has become painfully obvious as the years have unfolded."

"Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., said, 'The Negro cannot win if he is willing to sacrifice the future of his children for personal comfort and safety,' and, 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to injustice everywhere,'" added Dr. King. "There is no way he would want his name or image associated today with Planned Parenthood, the group most responsible for denying civil rights to the over 45 million American babies killed by abortion, one-third of them African-American. There is no way my uncle would condone the violence of abortion, violence that Planned Parenthood has always tried to mask, which brings painful deaths to babies and can result in torn wombs, serious infections, and emotional devastation for their mothers. Let me be clear, Planned Parenthood must stop using and lying to my family and the entire community of humanity."

Well put, "a sin problem , not a skin problem".

When I went to Uganda as a teacher in the 1970's one of the first things I found out was that African children are just as naughty as white children. The only difference seemed to be that their naughtiness takes a different form, probably because of culture rather than race.

I never had any colour prejudice. But the really amazing thing was that after a while, I even became "colour-blind". (On first arrival I felt terribly conspicuous - like a polar bear lost in a flock of blackbirds!) But one day I looked at one of the African schoolgirls and she reminded me, in looks, of a white girl I knew back home!

During the East African Revival a team, black and white, missionaries and Africans, visited the South of the USA. There were testimonies after the meeting, and one white Southern lady said, "I praise the Lord for what our black brother on the platform said..."

One dear African leader (I think it was William Nagenda, well known in the revival) found himself looking around to see who this "black brother" was; before he realised she meant him!

Let's all cultivate this kind of colour-blindness!

In my experience of 15 years as a volunteer at a Crises Pregnancy Center, the clients who were more likely wanting to abort their babies were not the poor women. It was the educated, the ones with a job or the woman that has been abandoned by her husband/boyfriend (not many of these)and the woman impregnated by rape. The woman on the lower end of the economic ladder were more likely to keep their child - they depended on government funding for their support. This scenario was true regardless of race, black or white.

One of the very few positive effects of our government's programs. I never considered before that the welfare system was actually saving the lives of babies... albeit not the intended purpose.

Speaking of welfare... when the church starts to be the church... feeding the poor, clothing the naked, taking care of widows, etc... as scripture tells us to do, then the government wont need to have programs like welfare, etc.

But today the church would rather build ivory towers unto itself instead of using those billions of dollars it brings in each year to do the ministry that scripture tells us to do.

Instead of building a gymnasium for all it's members to play in, why doesnt the church build a soup kitchen?

abortion is the last form of capital punishment allowed by our government. and any form of violence used to solve problems should be abhorent to all Christians.

nevertheless, i can't help wondering about what would have happened to 15,000,000 unwanted babies had they been born. undoubtedly our society would have been much worse off, as unloved children too often grow up to be criminals

of course, some of these could have been adopted into good homes, but my guess is that many would have ended up in prison. and many innocent people would have been harmed or killed.

i am not saying this to justify in any way abortion. it is murder. i am saying that if abortion was outlawed entirely, there would be alot more unfit parents bringing up future dangerous criminals.

the sin of illicit fornication costs us one way or another. no gettin around it.

And a lot of them would have gotten saved just like Niki Cruz did, or any other number of criminals turned Christians.

I understand that you're not condoning abortion, Bub, but I can help but get the impression that you're trying to put something of a positive spin on it. But there isnt one. Most abortions are not carried out by people who would be unfit parents. Just like Ginny said, most are career women, or teen age girls from middle class families. Not crack heads impregnated by drug dealers.

Not giving those babies a chance at life is a tragedy. Yea, some will turn out bad. But think about what we've lost! We've lost engineers, doctors, artists, musicians, theologians, missionaries, teachers, quarterbacks, scientists, preachers... it's staggering.

There may never be a cure for cancer because there is a very real chance that the one person who could have discovered a cure... was aborted.

No Bub, there is nothing positive about abortion. Not at all.

K-man,

hear ya, but i have to point out that the career women and teenagers would also be very bad parents. the irony here is that if you are so insensitive and calloused that you consider abortion as an option, you most definately lack the qualifications (judgment, heart, consideration of others) to be a good parent.

All of our layer upon layer of social problem solving...like the endless coats of crusted paint on an old house that is rotten and ready to collapse. Sin rots the original house, and then come the social and religious discussions about restoration projects we are incapable of bringing about.

Sometimes I wonder if the difference between a liberal and a conservative Christian is that the liberal seeks the kingdom of heaven without Jesus, and the conservative seeks Jesus without the kingdom of heaven.

Brethren, I feel like I've been both at separate times...but rarely both at the same time.

the irony here is that if you are so insensitive and calloused that you consider abortion as an option, you most definitely lack the qualifications (judgment, heart, consideration of others) to be a good parent.

Bubba, you are right....almost. Please allow me to explain my reasoning.

God made each gender different in the sense of how one views life, how they perceive knowledge, and their responses to it.

Males think logically in their approach to life.

Females think emotionally.

And therein lies the rub.

After God made Adam & Eve he called it "very good" and so we do well to accept, believe and act on this fact.

When sin entered in, it contaminated this thinking process, hence we need each other so much the more to give balance to this mix. Otherwise one will likely go to extremes.

Now to the issue at hand: the effects of abortion on the female.

Since the female is by nature more emotional, she will quickly experience guilt. Unless this guilt is acted upon, it goes underground - it will always be there - somewhere. So if guilt is denied -the Bible calls it "searing of the conscience" - and buried, it will resurface as an apparent unrelated problem, hence you will find a sharp rise in psychological problems among victims of abortion. These women are much more likely to abuse their existing children and those to come in the future, they have problems in their marriages, they distrust males, they are angrier then most women.

(One time when sharing with a pro-abort client the symptoms of post-abortion syndrome in a female, she sat quietly, listening and after my spiel told me, "You described my mom, that is what she is like!" I was a little taken back, and then I asked her "did your mom have an abortion?" She said she did! but she went on to declare she thinks she can handle it..Oh! **sigh** the deceitfulness of sin..)

Some statisticians will declare that roe v wade has triggered an epidemic in divorce because of the condition known as PAS (which I just described). However, I am inclined to believe that abortion is not the only contributing factor, albeit a very important one, we see in the decline of stability in human relationships.

The short of the long is that you have the emotional factor to deal with in a female when you are discussing the effects of abortion: you cannot dismiss it, you cannot change it. You have to cooperate with it in order to have an orderly society, not to mention the spiritual aspect..the others dealt with that angle of this issue. I shared the practical.

You can google 'divorce abortion', child abuse statistics', and find more then you may want to know. You will find a lot of info posted by Catholics. And I think it is a dying shame that evangelicals, who suppose themselves to be more accurate doctrinally then Catholics, have not been united in their positions on these serious issues and are weak in their opposition to them. By default Catholics have taken the lead in defending the family, the pro-life cause on the national level.

Eze 9:4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

No wonder that the New churches want to get rid of anyone 50 or older - because they are the eye-witnesses of the moral decline in this world/nation.

Unless their minds have been dumbed down gradually also.

I would challenge anyone 55 or over to do their own graphs on the decline of morality within their own lifetime alone.

I am grieving as I am sure they are - that anyone would even begin to claim "things are or have gotten better" -- for who?

Since when?

Since when has the moral climate improved - despite what few "abstinence" promoters there have been?

Sex is everywhere, and this younger generation doesn't even know it. They weren't raised on black and white TV or no TV at all.

If we don't take that verse above into this age - and there are corresponding verses in Revelation that are either in the present or future tense - I fear - I truly do fear for this generation.

chart from Chris - What does this REALLY prove ?

Rev 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

A.T. Robertson's Word Studies in the Greek -

on Rev 22:11 -
"Let him do unrighteousness still (adikēsatō eti). First aorist (constative) active imperative of adikeō, viewed here as a whole. The language is probably ironical, with a reminder of Dan_12:10, in no sense a commendation of their lost estate. Charles rejects this verse as not like John.
It is the hopelessness of the final state of the wicked which is here pictured. So as to “Let him be made filthy still” (rupanthētō eti). First aorist (constative) passive imperative of rupainō, old verb, to make foul or filthy (from rupos, filth, 1Pe_3:21, as is ruparos, filthy), here only in N.T. The use of eti is not perfectly clear, whether “still” or “yet more.”
It is the time when Christ has shut the door to those outside who are now without hope [the 5 foolish virgins](Mat_25:10; Luk_13:25). Ruparos occurs elsewhere in N.T. only in Jam_2:2, and ruparia (filthiness) only in Jam_1:21.
So then “the righteous” (ho dikaios) is to do righteousness still (dikaiosunēn poiēsatō eti, first constative aorist active imperative of poieō) and “the holy” (ho hagios) to be made holy still (hagiasthētō eti, first constative aorist passive imperative of hagiazō).
The states of both the evil and the good are now fixed forever. There is no word here about a “second chance” hereafter."

There comes a point where we need His eye salve to see and then "cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof."

How has the morality of just this nation "improved" in the last how many years?

At Church, when face to face - we can see each other's age and respect that fact. I won't argue with someone half my age.
And if someone half my age comes arguing with me - I refer them to my Pastor.
It's called Order and respect in The Church.

And another sign of how this generation has declined in that area also.

Look at the churches as a whole - What have they done to stop the decline in morality ?

What have we done personally I ask ?

Or are we telling people - for unknown reasons ----- that things are getting or have gotten better.

Study the philosophy of Margaret Sanger. How homosexuality and so forth was for population control. As is pushing sex in every commercial, music, magazine - just everywhere.

Hi ginnyrose...

In my experience of 15 years as a volunteer at a Crises Pregnancy Center...
God bless you for your work! What a wonderful work on behalf of the unborn!
the clients who were more likely wanting to abort their babies were not the poor women.
I think that this is the actual national trend. Wealthy individuals are far more likely to use abortion as a means of birth control. For each unwanted baby, they choose extermination.

When the Republicans controlled Congress, they immediately banned Federal funding for most abortions. This affected many individuals on welfare. Yet ironically, the perception that has been expressed by the left that abortion is the more popular choice of the poor. This myth is astounding. Poor and minority groups tend to be far more conservative than even whites in regard to traditional moral prerogatives. According to the GSS, Black and Hispanics are the most opposed to abortion and the legalization of homosexual marriage. Yet most minorities, since the 1930s, still tend to vote for the leftist candidates. This could have something to do with economic decisions, or with a simple embrace of the myth that the left is out to “help the common man.”

Planned Parenthood's founders first pushed abortion as a means of eugenics, which would result in the removal of “undesirable” groups from America. Margaret Sanger even advocated "forced coercion" abortions in certain racial, ethnic and certain minority groups that she didn't think were "capable" of making a decision to not propagate. Sanger, a former Catholic turned Atheist, even created a newsletter called The Woman Rebel – whose slogan was “No God and No Masters.” Ironically, Bill Clinton often cited Sanger in his continued embrace of the legalization of abortion.

There are quite a few myths in regard to abortion. In Texas, we are enduring the ongoing campaign in the Democratic primaries. Since Texas is a legislatively conservative state – even amongst most Democrats – it is ironic that neither of the Democratic candidates (Barack Hussein Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton) are explaining what they really believe in regard to this issue. Both are ardent supporters of abortion. Obama even supports the horrific procedure known as “Partial Birth Abortion.” Yet none of the articles and advertisements are identifying this in Texas.

It is difficult to speak about the issue of abortion without meandering into the world of politics. Sadly, abortion has become part of the politics of this nation. If “righteousness exalts a nation,” what can be said about this nation of which you and I are a part? It is quite a “cop out” to claim that our citizenship is found solely in Heaven when Paul publicly claimed his citizenship to Rome. He spent the last part of his life in an attempt to get the Gospel to Rome. Keith Green used to always say that “this generation of Christians is responsible for this generation of souls.” I wonder: What have we done with our responsibility? Have we continued to meet in the catacombs of the Internet, or have we shouted from the rooftops the truth of God’s Word?

I've had people to actually 'wish' I had a bad memory. For some strange reason - since July of '05 on here I don't. That is strange.

I remember when I was rebuked for calling Bush "Bush" - but it is alright to call Sprugeon, Spurgeon or Moody, Moody, or Reagan, Reagan, or Putin, Putin, or David Wilkerson, Wilkerson.

That's where the ballast was off from my early recollection.

I've already posted to enough posts of what I've done right up to the State level before I became disabled. I asked above - what are we doing or have we been doing?

One thing I won't do is defend a nation that has been corrupt and spread that same corruption thoroughly around the globe and give it more honor than we do "Spurgeon" or "Moody" or more than His Saints in our Bible did.

To come to an earthly government's defense, more than the defense of what is right and proper in the order of the Church, is froth and hoopla.

Grab the horns of the altar and cry out as if your very life depended on it and that of your entire family, that GOD will forgive for us putting political allegiances above what is right and wrong.

Pray we become more like Jeremiahs rather than the others we've rubbed shoulders with, etc.. on this earth.
Time to decide is short. The angels will be marking off those to be known as His and the others will take the other mark, because their allegiances have been unscripturally Off Kilter.

God is merciful, but HE does warn for only so long. Lamentations.

I like the crusted paint analogy. So many social, political, and financial programs are conceived of in the highest offices of our land but until our culture comes to recognize that our problem is one of godlessness we'll just keep right on painting until the house falls.

I think the case of AIDS makes this more apparant than any other. Everyone knows that if men and women live in purity, in marriage and before marriage, that there would be no more spread of the AIDS virus. But since we can't say that homosexuality is wrong or that sleeping with your girlfriend is wrong, we are left with funding billions of dollars of programs that merely treat the symptoms while ignoring the disease.

We need to know our Bible's and tell those around us that we're in the predicament we're in because of our godlessness and wickedness.

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness,
(Romans 1:18 NIV)
