VISION FOR THIS CONFERENCE

Will God send another great awakening? Can revival still change nations? There are over 10,000 conferences that happen every year. The 'Revival Conference' is not to be just another conference but a honest, sincere, earnest plea for the desperate need of revival. There is no cost to attend the event. No materials will be sold. There will be no big bands. The conference will have the chief object to be God-glorifying. The speakers will come on their own accord trusting God for provision. There will be no emphasis on money during the event. The event will be a simple, apostolic, yearning for a genuine biblical revival in our day. The conference is hosted by the ministry of sermonindex.net and is a inter-denominational event.

I dont know why, i have some strange "feeling" if i should call it that, about Scotland. May God come down on Scotland once again and may it spread through out this wasteland of spiritual death called Europe.

Yes, due to prior commitments in Asia he has decided to speak at just one event and it will very probably be the Georgia event. what a blessing for him to be able to speak in the growth and busyness of growth in Heart Cry. It shows the priority and need for revival in his heart and others to come to these events to share their hearts.

Hi guys, we are really looking forwad to the Revival Conference coming to Scottish soil and believe God for the Glory of the present to be greater than that of the former. There is a real buzz around here in anticipation of the conference and as news travels around the area it would seem that there will be a good number of Scottish delegates coming too.

God is really beginning to move in Scotland as the spirtitual temperature in churches in Greenock as well as other places begins to hot up. I really believe for the church in Inverclyde and Scotland to be entering revival status sooner than we think amen!

Looking forward in God to all that he has in store.

God is pursuing with omnipotent passion a worldwide purpose of gathering joyful worshippers for Himself from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. He has an inexhaustible enthusiasm for the supremacy of His name among the nations. Therefore, let us bring our affections into line with His, and, for the sake of His name, let us renounce the quest for worldly comforts and join His global purpose. -- John Piper

That will lead to an interesting mix as David Legge has used Arminianism as an example of false teaching when sharing on 2 Peter. However that was in the past and maybe he has mellowed in recent years.

I think everyone will agree and unify on the truth of the need of revival and God in the midst again in His church. I am looking forward to what the Spirit of God puts on each man's hearts.

FraserD and hmmhmm: I share your sentiments. Lately I have been pondering/praying concerning the last great revival that will sweep this earth. The Spirit has moved on me to say that very soon there shall be another "shot heard round the world" (per the American Revolution and the battle at Old North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts). The "shot..." being a spiritual shaking that will affect the entire earth. Why not in Scotland?! In the past God has blessed that area and its ministers of the Word (including those of heritage and not just geographical location)with a fiery heart for Him. May God move mightily and may we all become 'divine arsonists' - those who will carry the torch of revival/evangelism in a yet more powerful way to bring the peoples of this earth to the altar of our great God in these last days.

A particular scripture that I hold to is the scriptural promise that the Glory of the present house will be greater than the former.

I currently pastor the Elim Church in Greenock and this scriptural truth is one that unearths incredible potential and expectation for our fellowship and district. The Elim Church was founded by an incredible revivalist by the name of George Jeffreys. George Jeffreys(or Principal Jeffreys as he was affectionatley known) moved mightily in the things of God and ministered in the early to mid 20th century. He planted several churches up and down the UK and saw multitudes of souls being swept into the Kingdom. His services were always filled to capacity and were characterised predominately by miracles and healing as well as unusual manifestations of the spirit. Many who attended his services speak of experiences of glory and heaven.

In 1929 Prinicpal Jeffreys came to Greenock to hold a crusade in the local Town Hall. On the opening night of the crusade it was reported that there were no more than 12 in attendance. Jeffreys spoke to the assembled congregation with quite confidence and spoke of the need for them to arrive early the following night if they were to secure a seat. In the course of his meeting it is believed that there was a radical healing that took place and by the following night the Town Hall was filled to capacity (in excess of 1200 to 1500 people)with many being turned away due to lack of room. This scene continued for days and weeks. Men from the shipyards would run to the Town Hall after completing their shift in order to queue to secure a seat at the crusade that evening. School children would be sent to wait in queues after school in order to keep seats for their families. The communty was gripped by this significant move of God that happened in our town.

The venue for this significant revival is the exact same venue for the Revival Conference in November of this year. It is exciting to know that revival ministry will be taking place on the very site that hosted a significant revival just short of 80 years ago and that radically shook the district of Inverclyde. I believe for a reopening of the wells of revival and believe that great as the revival scenes were in Greenock all those years ago THE GLORY OF THE PRESENT WILL BE GREATER.

It seems significant to me that God would have this conference hosted in the same location where He poured out His Spirit many decades ago with liberty and power and we trust that once more the heavens will open and God will be seen in revival power in Greenock.

As we move through this year it is believed that changes are happening in the heavenly places over Greenock and that significant things of God are beginning to stir in our churches to the extent that as November comes closer it is a common belief that the shaking of our community may have already begun as God begins to visit these shores. The Conference is truly and sincerely in the timing of God and I believe will be of utmost significance in breaking forth revival as we believe God for what has been spoken to his people of making Inverclyde a source of revival fire in our land.

A picture of Greenock Town Hall filled to capacity during Jeffreys crusade can be seen on http://www.greenockelim.com/heritage (alternatively visit www.greenockelim.com - click 'about us'- and then 'heritage'). Underneath the picture there are three hyperlinks 'article page 1' 'article page 2' and 'article page 3'. These links contain copies of articles from the local press during the time of Jeffreys visit in 1929 and contain reports of the revival as well as the comments of local dignitaries describing their experiences and thoughts on the scenes.

An unquenchable passion for His glory has been birthed in my spirit and I refuse to let it be extinguished or suffocated. I pray that it will ignite in yours too.

See ya in November!!

Brother Greg; I have been to many conferences over the years, and this has been my experience. The Holy Spirit was quenched by good preachers and teachers who would not, or could not, fully yield to the Holy Spirit. May be their ego and pride was involved, or possibly their doctrinal stance prohibited them.

Azusa street, and the Welsh revival both had this in common. The Holy Spirit was allowed complete and absolute control and Lordship. Much ministry was accomplished through very common vessels, not necessarily from the pulpit.

Will you demand, that each and every speaker defer to Him? Will you allow the Lord to use any vessel He chooses? Mostly, men assure us that they are Spirit lead, as they organize these things, but when pressed as to timing and order, it seems that usually man's ways win, and the anointing is lost.

More importantly, will you defer entirely to Jesus himself? Would you cancel a day, and say, Lay before the Lord, if He so directed?

These are but challenges, but I think important to consider, for I assure you, He will not rest upon a body until this level of submission and worship is manifested.

I long for revival, and I am confident, and more, I know that it is soon coming. Remember the helpless infant that Jesus sat in the midst as He compared the Kingdom of Heaven to him. Absolute need and dependence and purity, as a cry emerged for mommy, a mother that he knew was on her way.

We cannot invoke Him with any other attitude, or expect our own agenda to please Him, however noble or needful we be.

Another aspect of meetings to understand is that this is not the forefront of the true church. The foundation of the true church is the Community! The everyday love exhibited as the body edifies itself in Agape life. I mow your lawn, for you cannot. I take you into my home, when your's burns down, because you are family, and I love you.

I give you my bank account, for financial tragedy has struck, and you have need. This is where revival rests, not in the pulpit, or meetings. Most of the modern fellowships of today center their church AS THE MEETING. It is not the meeting! It is the fellowship and community of those redeemed that is the Church, not the pulpit or Shepherds that speak into it.

The meeting is the PRODUCT OF THE COMMUNITY, not visa verso. It is also the primary root of the CLERGY/LAITY heresy, for we are all a part of full time ministry, female and male, as partakers of the Holy Spirit, as He has distributed grace and gifts to ALL.

The Body is honored equally, as the Father is not respecting the leper any less or more than the King. Mostly, our Sunday meetings ignore this entirely to their own peril. Most Pastors have a lock on control to the point of the absurd. WHEN MAN CONTROLS, GOD DOESN'T. HE leaves, See Laodicea.

Meetings are glorified as a unified body in Love is glorified as Jesus rests and moves, and more grace is given to the WEAK, so that grace would prevail as one, not necessarily from the pulpit.

I recommend ; "ANOTHER WAVE OF REVIVAL". by Frank Bartleman; the prayer warrior and historian who chronicled AZUSA STREET, as a type of how revival came, and the results...The faceless nobodies God used [and will], and His judgement on the religious, and the hierarchy that attempted to commandeer it, for their own glory.

Conferences [extra- local especially], are meant to spark fervour and revival, and certainly have their place. I sincerely pray and hope that genuine fire from Heaven will Babtize all attending, but only Jesus can babtize in the Holy Spirit and Fire, and I assure you, it will be on His terms, and with Him in control.

Brothertom.

H
Heydave

Hi Brother Tom,

I am new to this forum, so hope my earlier post was not misunderstood in that i am looking forward to hearing from those the LORD sends.

I fully agree with all you say and am under no illusion that true revival only comes when each one of us wholly yields to God in every area of our daily life. As we allow Jesus Christ to be in control, this is what will change those with whom we associate with, be they family, work collegues or church members.

The LORD in His grace uses individuals to speak His word and oh that that they would be wholly surrendered to Him, then we will have HIS word to HIS body; a word that will convict and bring us all to the place of more surrender to Him and "be be vessels of honour, sanctified and useful to the master, prepared for every good work". 1 Timothy 2 v21.

God will use whosoever is surrendered to Him and each member of His body is to be an expression of His life. May we never exult one member above another or allow our focus to be to a person, but only unto Him who saved us.

When I am drawn to hear a particular preacher, it is beacause (I trust and pray will always be) I see the hand and work of the Lord Jesus in a crucified life.

Regarding 'docrinal stance hindering', if the doctrine be true and of God it cannot hinder, but only enhance true revival. True rival must always be based on God's word and will always bring us back to the truth.

May God bless you richly.

S
sermonindex

Hey Dave:thank you for your post, and heart to find a crucified life, and to sit at the feet of crucified ones. This is awesome.

I would submit to you though, that there are only crucified lifestyles, not crucified lives...

Remember David's sin, adultery and murder, after Decades of revelation and Visitation in pure Shekinah! We bear our cross daily, other wise the evil Satanic nature in us All, will ascend, and slay us in darkness.

This should keep us lowly, as wickedness is bound in us until we enter Heaven. We have not yet attained, and we must overcome. How? BY dying daily and moment to moment, as we submit to the holy Spirit. This is a lifestyle. Each day of my life, I struggle, as pride, lust, greed, and hate arises. I cry out each day that the Father would count my evil heart attitudes as sin and death, and that he would see them Covered by the Blood of Jesus, my Saviour.

So, crucified lifestyles are really Overcomers. Overcoming lifestyles. How did they overcome? " By the blood of the Lamb, the Word of their testimony, and by Not loving their own self, unto death.

The only true crucified one are those who have entered heaven's gate, who have washed their robes[daily, moment to moment, as they lived in Him]in the Blood of the Lamb, sparkling White!

Dear Brother,

This will be opportunity for some people to have home-stays and others can share hotels and motels. I am really praying people will catch the vision of the event and even allow more "community" aspects of christianity to be displayed. The early church did not have to work and make big programs they knew the needs and desired to fullfil them immediately.

Sorry if this has been adressed already, or if it's in the brochure, which I haven't read, but is this suitable to bring the kids? I don't mean the're not welcome but sometimes these events are very family friendly, others they tend to get to be a distraction if kids are there.

I'm happy either way, I just want to know if I should be taking my kids out of school for the week or arrange for their grandma to look after them.

Other than that my wife and I are going to do everything to be there! I wish it was a bit closer then we could offer some accomodation :-(

Yes, there will be childcare offered for all the main sessions and its wonderful to have children even in the services if they can be relatively quiet.

"There is no cost to attend the conference, registration is free!"

Will God send another great awakening? Can revival still change nations? There are over 10,000 conferences that happen every year. This 'Revival Conference' is not to be just another conference but a honest, sincere, earnest plea for the desperate need of revival. There is no cost to attend the event. No materials will be sold. There will be no big bands. The conference chief object is to be God-glorifying. The speakers come on their own accord trusting God for provision. There will be no emphasis on money during the event. The event will be a simple, apostolic, yearning for a genuine biblical revival in our day. The conference is hosted by the ministry of sermonindex.net and is a inter-denominational event.

I'll be there along with some others God willing but I need to ask: Is there a reason why the conferences are held during the week?

It will limit me to getting to any others in the future as my work is very restrictive about time off during the week. I know of a few already who would have went if it was a weekend event.

Is it because of the speakers timetables - I assume they are booked solid at weekends?

PS: Cant wait for this years regardless. Hungering for revival (personal and national)

Dear Brother,

There are many reasons why this is during the week. One it is for pastors and ministry leaders that have churches to shepard during the weekends. Secondly these speakers are busy during the weekends usually. There are other reasons also but these are the main ones. I know that the evening sessions will be much busier then the day sessions but we can except many pastors and ministry leaders to be present for the whole event.

Looking forward to meeting you brother as we hunger for revival together.

Hi Greg,

Just to ask if there is a tally for the number of candidates currently registered for the conference in November.

It is greatly encouraging to read the threads of candidates making their way from many countries to a conference being held in a venue that has historically hosted a powerful revival.

I'm believing that God has big things in store for this conference...bigger than we know or understand!

Saints,

I am pleased to announce that Aileen Gilchrist will be leading the singing and hymns for the scotland conference. you can visit her website here and listen to the music: http://www.aileengilchrist.com

We are looking to get a few of her songs in the godly music section on SermonIndex.

Aileen Gilchrist - Singer-songwriter Aileen Gilchrist is a member of Struthers Memorial Church in Greenock on the West Coast of Scotland. In recent years God has led her into a singing ministry. Aileen decided to publish her singing, as she longs for the Gospel message of hope, love, forgiveness and healing to reach out to as many lives as possible.

Great questions. There are a few european countries represented so far, I am believing for people from "every" european country to come to the event.

I will compile a list of the countries in a month or so, but there are at least over 10 now!
