Pastor Hagee Apologizes for Anti-Catholic Remarks (what a sell out!!)

S

What a disgusting sell-out John Hagee is. Here is a high profile American preacher willing to sell-out the truth for politics of all things!

Now, you may not agree that Revelation 17 is describing the RCC. Personally I think it is, and it's so descriptive I dont know how anyone can say it isnt... but the point is, John Hagee preached against the Roman Catholic Church (a wretched false religion)... but in the interest of getting his favorite candidate elected he will do a 180 degree turn, and actually apologize for preaching against Rome!

There are plenty of reasons why we should avoid John Hagee... but now he has proven that he will turn his back on what he believes is true... for politics!

Enjoy the article, if you can read it without vomitting... Krispy

Pastor Hagee Apologizes for Anti-Catholic Remarks
by FOXNews.com
Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Evangelical leader John Hagee, one of John McCain’s highest-profile supporters from the religious right, has apologized for comments he made that were offensive to Catholics.

In a letter Monday to Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Civil and Religious Rights, Hagee wrote, “I want to express my deep regret for any comments that Catholics have found hurtful.”

Pastor Hagee, leader of San Antonio’s Cornerstone Church, has often made references to “the apostate church” and the “great whore,” terms that Catholics say are slurs aimed at the Roman Catholic Church.

In his letter, Hagee said he now better understands that the Book of Revelation’s reference to the Catholic Church by those two terms are “a rhetorical device long employed in anti-Catholic literature and commentary.”

“Neither of these phrases can be synonymous with the Catholic Church,” he wrote.

Donohue, accepting the apology, said on FOX News Radio: “I’m absolutely delighted … I haven’t seen such a quick turnaround in the 15 years that I have been president of the Catholic League.” He said he plans to meet with Hagee on Thursday.

Likening Hagee to two New York shock jocks who encouraged a pair of listeners to attempt to have sex in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in 2002, Donohue added that he is receptive to honest apologies.

“We’re not in the business of rejecting apologies whether it’s from Opie and Anthony or Pastor Hagee so now when we meet we can understand that this issue is moot and behind us and I think it’s a great moment that we can have some degree of reconciliation.”

Hagee’s endorsement in February had been difficult for McCain, as Democrats, Donohue and others called on the presumptive GOP nominee to reject the pastor’s support.

McCain said Tuesday he didn’t know if the new apology would stifle criticism, but said it was “helpful” and “laudable.”

“I believe the fact that these two individuals came together is a laudable thing and a testimony to both individuals and their principles, which are Judeo-Christian values,” he said, adding that his campaign had nothing to do with brokering the apology.

McCain, who has taken pains to gain the trust of the religious right, has rejected specific statements from Hagee — namely about the Catholic Church and blaming the sinful behavior of New Orleans residents for Hurricane Katrina — but would not denounce the pastor. Hagee apologized for the Katrina statements a couple weeks ago, saying it’s not his place to try to know the mind of God concerning the natural disaster.

Hagee has claimed that his “great whore” remarks were taken out of context, and that he was not directing them at the Roman Catholic Church. A spokesman said via e-mail Tuesday that Hagee “never used this phrase to refer to the Catholic Church.”

Donohue, who in February said that Hagee “has waged an unrelenting war against the Catholic Church,” said in a statement Tuesday that their feud is now history.

“The tone of Hagee’s letter is sincere. He wants reconciliation and he has achieved it,” Donohue said, adding that Hagee has spent “weeks” meeting with Catholic leaders.

“Indeed, the Catholic League welcomes his apology,” he wrote. “What Hagee has done takes courage and quite frankly I never expected him to demonstrate such sensitivity to our concerns. But he has done just that. Now Catholics, along with Jews, can work with Pastor Hagee in making interfaith relations stronger than ever. Whatever problems we had before are now history. This case is closed.”

Hagee is firmly pro-Israel and has praised McCain for sharing his values to that end. But he has condemned Catholics for what he sees as efforts to persecute Jews. In his 2006 book “Jerusalem Countdown,” Hagee wrote that history proves Adolf Hitler and the Catholic Church were linked “in a conspiracy to exterminate the Jews.”

In his letter to Donohue, Hagee indicated he no longer believes in such historical links.

“In my zeal to oppose anti-Semitism and bigotry in all its ugly forms, I have often emphasized the darkest chapters in the history of Catholic and Protestant relations with the Jews,” he wrote. “In the process, I may have contributed to the mistaken impression that the anti-Jewish violence of the Crusades and the Inquisition defines the Catholic Church. It most certainly does not. Likewise, I have not sufficiently expressed my deep appreciation for the efforts of Catholics who opposed the persecution of the Jewish people.”

Reacting to the letter, the Democratic National Committee again called on McCain to renounce Hagee’s endorsement Tuesday.

But McCain gave no sign of doing so. His campaign also rejects any attempts to draw comparisons between Hagee’s controversial remarks and those of Barack Obama’s former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr.

Donohue told FOX News Radio that both McCain and Obama “have both gotten some bad advice on how to handle certain people who are close to them.”

But he said “I don’t really have a stink with McCain per se.”

FOX News’ Shushannah Walshe and Mike Majchrowitz and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

By the way... Hagee has also apologized for this statement too:

All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are — were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing.

Why would a so-called "Man of God" apologize for saying that?? I have no problem standing up and saying that, and I wont apologize to anyone for it... it's truth!

Preachers are NOT called to influence elections, they are called to preach the truth. Getting in bed with politicians is simply stupid and foolish.

American Christians should vote as part of their civic duty. I'm absolutely all for voting and being informed, and involved to a certain extent... but what Hagee is doing is simply rediculous.

Anything that comes out of his mouth at this point is simply not to be trusted.

Well, I didn't vomit, because Hagee's theology has always been questionable. Plus he has expressed anti-Jewish views in books he has written.

There is a lot of apostasy going on right now, it is so rampant you hardly blink an eyelid, even though we should be worried, alarmed and such like.

All this turning around back to Rome that seems to be going on in the name of 'unity' is so unreal.

God wants His people to be seperate, holy.

God help us to be so.

God bless.

What we need more than ever is men of God who are not afraid to preach the Word of God without apology... and preach it hard.

If you look at the revivals of the past, they didnt happen by getting all friendly with the world... and being spineless. God used men who took a strong stand against sin... personal sin and national sin... and proclaimed the judgement of God.

I too have trouble with Hagee's doctrinal positions, and was amazed at how wrong his latest book is on just about everything... but he had always had it right on the money when it came to the Roman Catholic Church... and then for him to recant? Amazing.

He says the RCC isnt an apostate church? Now he wants to join hands with Rome? Well... birds of a feather flock together.

The real lesson here for pastors is: Dont go around endorsing political candidates! It's one thing to preach on issues like abortion, etc... but stay out of the political bedroom when it comes to endorsing people. If you're properly teaching the Word of God, and you're listeners are growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ... God will guide them in their voting. We dont need to be told who to vote for.

That is a pathway wrought with peril!!

.................................................
I believe John Hagee has the some of the same problems that many Christians have, including myself.
John 12:24
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
KJV

Is this verse talking about physically dead? Eventually yes when we are glorified, but no, now it is actually referring dying to our wants and desires that conflict with that of Christ's desires for our life and US dying to our own and them falling to the ground.

Hagee is trying to prevent something that he doesn't want to see happen, nor any true born again Christian will want to see happen. Hagee is well aware that it is very possible in the near future to become so antichrist in America, that the police will come physically remove Hagee and other preachers from their pulpits and take him them to jail and lock him up for preaching the simple gospel, setting aside all that other stuff he throws in. It is already happening in other countries. Hagee is trying to prevent this event in his own strength. Of course that opens up the thought of, do we use the things given us in our own strength to preserve the status quo of freedom of worship in America? I won't answer that to grant the wishes on politics but I will say, No I don't agree with Hagee going against what he really believes to be truth or apologizing for something that he still believes to be truth and no I don't agree with some of Hagees theology.
Thanks for posted Krispy I had not heard about this.

Someone mentioned the current apostasy that is going on in the world right now. Here we have a leader that has been very much influential in Christianity--his whole ministry is to defend the gospel. Its just another example to us all how many will bend their knew to being politically correct. We must first get it out of our mind that we are not a "Christian nation". If we can get that deception out of our minds like so many Christians have; we might be able to accomplish great things for God.

Edit: what I meant is so many people think we are a Christian nation. we are not a Christian nation. My thoughts go faster than my typing I think!!

I think you mean he refused to pray in Jesus name... thats what the link is about.

He's a sell-out too.

If you feel like you need to not mention Jesus' name, then perhaps that should be a sign that you ought not to be involved in that organization.

There are approximately 171,000 martyrs killed each year because of their faith in Jesus... and Ravi is afraid of offending someone? Give me a break.

The Evangelical leadership in America is becoming more and more pathetic with each passing day.

I had read about Ravi Zacharias on Slice and the NDP, and was going to mention it on this thread, but I thought, one thing at a time.

It is a sad demise in Christianity that we are witnessing.

We should rather be witnessing for Jesus, not against Him.

As for prison, it should be expected, even if it is unwelcomed. Who wants to go?

Even if the Bible was written by murderers, jail birds, adulterers, polygamist, naked prophets, crying prophets, you know what, we would be in great company!

But prison has its own price, are we willing to pay it if necessary?

God bless.

Hagee must be wanting more money. In Matt. 4: the invitation to Jesus to bow down and worship him, and he would give Jesus the kingdoms of this world. This is a big issue in this time. especially when most preach about prosperity and at the same time call Jesus a sinner who had to be born again. Hagee is selling 1,000s of his book Jesus is not the Messiah. Messiah is Hebrew and Christ is Greek and it means anointed. Jesus received his anointing when he was baptised by John and the Holy Spirit descended upon him. also the father said from heaven this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. If he was a sinner he wouldn't be pleased. truly the love of money is the root of all evil. pray for Hagee that he will repent. If all ministers were to sow love they would reap more love from God and not have to use gimmicks to get money.

S
sermonindex

No... I really dont think money is the issue here. I think whats going on is Hagee truly wants to keep a certain party, and certain policies, and certain ideoogies out of the White House. Well, guess what... so do I.

The difference between Hagee and I is that he is willing to abandon what he believes in order to acheive that. I'm not.

And when Hagee, or anyone else, compromises truth for expediency what they are revealing is their lack of faith in God. When we stand for truth, God works. When we compromise His truth the results are never good.

Many a high profile pastor has sold his soul in the name of politics. Even Billy Graham came pretty close to getting burned during the Watergate episode back in the early 70's w/ Nixon. Now, Billy did nothing wrong, but being as close as he was to President Nixon almost tainted his reputation. When it first hit the media he began to defend Nixon until it became obvious that Nixon lied... he was, in fact, a crook! Billy has always met with Presidents, but never again did he allow himself to be so closely associated with one.

Hagee... he seems ready to apologize to anyone and everyone for everything he's ever preached in order to see McCain elected. I'm an ultra-conservative... I dont like any of our candidates, least of all the ones Hagee wants to keep out. But I refuse to deny the truth and bow down to the world in order to acheive the goal of winning an election. No way... I trust God. I'll stick with Him.

He's in control, amen?

He's in control, amen?
Amen, We would all do well not to compromise our beliefs in truth. We have plenty of examples in the Old Testament of what is the right choice in these situations and what is the wrong one.

When it comes to the right choice (God's Will) one can throw out human reasoning. When you get right down to the (nitty gritty, "redneck term") failure of so many Americans to do God's will, is exactly why Hagee and many others are faced with the temptation of compromising and lying in order to preserve liberty. So many Christians have bought into the lie that it don't really matter whether my leader is a Christian and honors God or not as long as they can run the country. Well I got news for them, you need God to run anything. Anything we make an endeavor in, the first thing you need on board is God's blessing, if not it will fail.

So many people think this is a separate issue altogether from their relationship with the Lord. Have they not read the Old Testament examples given us in his Word or either they think those examples are for entertainment on Sunday mornings in class.

I know some are reading this and are saying, does Moe not know we are in the New Covenant now and under grace. Yea, what the law could not do, grace did so much more. If God didn't expect us to learn from those Old Testament truths, he would have destroyed them and throw them out when he inspired the writers to write the New Testament. They go together hand in hand and fit like glove.

Everyone is talking about revival. If we were to see real revival in America, that stinking thinking I mentioned above about our relationship with the Lord and selecting leaders would be quiet different than is it for most now. Oh Lord revive us again.
Thanks Krispy for your truth.

Krispy: I am sorry to say that these actions by Hagee do not surprise me. The problem is that the fellow is so high profile, and that as an orator, he is as powerful as you can get, and funny! He also, now and then, mixes his political persuasions with a fiery Gospel message honoring Jesus' sacrifice, the Blood and resurrection, that is wonderful to behold.

He has a doctrine, it seems, that unsaved and unregenerate Jews are indeed a part of Heaven's company, and receives them as brethren publicly, and honors them with great respect and financial gifts. This is a sin against them and the gospel, for they are comforted in there wickedness, and the truth of their coming perdition for rejecting their Messiah. He influences possibly millions also, that become warped, likewise.

He is so adamant about pre-tribulation rapture, that he preaches that the American economy will only fall, as the Christians disappear instantly in this secret affair.[no arguments please on this one] This seems to be associated with his ideas that no suffering will ever come to "Christian" America. He does not teach preparation in Faith, for the end times, for in his thinking, there is no need too.

A logical end to this thinking, would be that the END would justify the means. He has taught about the wickedness of Papal Rome as an equivocalness to Satan himself all of his ministry. In his mind, though, the expediency here hasn't to do with truth as much as his faith in the RNC, as opposed to evil in the RCC.[republican national convention RNC] [roman catholic church RCC].

The morality, economic conservatism, and allegiance to Israel in McCain and the RNC, as opposed to the Socialists anti Israel politics of the far LEFT, have overwhelmed the man. He's lost it, but he doesn't care. All for America and Israel! That's his gospel formed from his own form of "Christian" Nationalism that trumps his former ideas about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Brothertom I think John Hagee would be much better off if he looked at the spiritual sense on the Israel and the Jews and not in the physical sense. I don't completely agree with him and many. As for the no argument statement, there is old thread laying over there brother, about post trib theory that has many unanswered questions that was requested and abandoned by the guy that opened the can of worms. A man should be able to expalin his theology and answer questions from those who ask before he opens another can of worms.

John Hagee preaches bondage IMO, I really feel his style of preaching will keep his congregation and anyone else that follows him in a certain bondage in their minds and I really think most here will understand what I mean when I say he Preaches bondage. Now I do think he really wants to burn down the White House and maybe California and rebuild them, but this is just my opinion of what I have gathered from his preaching. :-)

Reformer, I would like to follow up with your comment here regarding Ravi Zacharias Ministries. He sold out to the Mormon Church years ago. Now John Hagee to the Catholic Church.

We need to stay in the Truth, not in people or ministries. This is what apostasy.

This letter was written by Margie Zacharias after many questioned what was obviously against obedience to scripture...separation!

Dear All:

Thank you for your prayers before and over this weekend. I know many were praying and several left phone messages to let us know that they were praying. Thank you...it means more than I know how to say. Thank you also to those of you who came here to lend your physical support. It is much appreciated and it was great to see you.

Ravi and I (with Nate Elwell) arrived in Salt Lake City on Thursday. We were met at the airport by Greg Johnson and his assistant, Eric. A group of about fifteen local pastors had also come to the airport to welcome Ravi but as our flight was over an hour late they had all left except for one pastor and his wife from a C&MA church in the city. It was great to see them. This whole event, and the dialogue that has been going on between Christian philosophers and Mormon philosophers, has been 'brought about by Greg Johnson of Standing Together (www.standingtogether.org ), an organization committed to bringing Christians together in their efforts to reach Mormons. Greg himself is a former Mormon and is a bundle of seemingly unlimited energy. It was Greg who was responsible for bringing Ravi to Brigham Young University ten years ago.

Friday morning Greg and Ravi had an appointment with the top three leaders of the Mormon Church, the First Presidency, which consists of the President/Prophet and his top two advisers. President Gordon Hinckley in 94 years old but Ravi said he is sharp and astute and looked to be in his 70?s. (President Hinckley's response to Larry King's question about one become president of the Mormon church was that first you are appointed as one of the Twelve Apostles and then you outlive the others!) The meeting was formal but very cordial as they sat around a long conference table and Ravi answered the President's questions regarding RZIM and Ravi's ministry. Greg asked President Hinckley why he had agreed to invite Ravi to the Tabernacle and his response was, "I thought it sounded like a good idea and I was glad to help out!" It is apparently his predecessor who opened the door to what is happening now by encouraging his people to read the Book of Mormon, which had in turn led them to begin to read the Bible. President Hinckley himself has lent support to the dialogues that are taking place between Christian philosophers and apologists and their Mormon counterparts by not objecting to them and by not being dogmatic and legalistic in his remarks about certain Mormon doctrines. After about 25 minutes, Ravi and Greg were taken on a tour of the facility by a member of the ruling council, and the Norwegian Ambassador to the United States was ushered into the room for his audience with the First Presidency.

About 10:30 that morning Greg and Ravi, Nate and I headed to Provo Utah, and Brigham Young University to be hosted for lunch by some members of the faculties of the Religion and Philosophy Departments of BYU. There were about twelve of us altogether. They were very gracious and warm and the lunch was delicious! The conversation was very interesting and ranged among many subjects, including Charles Templeton from Canada. For those who don't know who he is, he was a friend and contemporary of Billy Graham's in Canada. He led Toronto YFC and actually brought the Avenue Road Church in Toronto into the Christian & Missionary Alliance. He had a great ministry and influence in Canada but lost his faith when he went to Princeton and became one of Canada's leading antagonists against Christianity writing many books and hosting a radio program. One of the faculty members at the lunch was from Sudbury, Ontario, and he was thrilled that I am a Canadian; in fact, it was he who brought it us and it was he who opened the conversation about Templeton and his lost faith. They graciously presented Ravi with two gifts, the Book of Mormon and a bronze bust of Brigham Young.

The conversation was very interesting but I felt there was an elephant in the room that no one was acknowledging. They talked around some doctrinal issues without actually discussing them (all who were there have been involved in the doctrinal dialogues over the last three and a half years). As Ravi stated it, there seems to be a growing awareness among them that the emperor has no clothes but no one wants to be the one to blow the whistle! One of the faculty members is a former Presbyterian minister from the PCUSA who was dismissed from his church because he was too liberal. For a while he had no job, other than driving a taxi, and when a position became available at BYU he decided that Mormonism was where it's at and joined the Mormon church. He's probably seen as a trophy.

We were back in Salt Lake City by about 2:30 pm and that evening there was a dinner for about 120 pastors and others who have supported Greg's efforts to bring a cordial atmosphere between the evangelical Christians and the Mormons in Utah, where they can discuss their differences without being antagonists. This weekend was an important event in reaching that goal. There were brief comments brought by Greg, Craig Hazen from Biola University, Craig Blomberg from Denver Seminary, Joe Tkach the leader of the Herbert Armstrong Worldwide Church of God (it is he who has led them back into Orthodox Christianity), Ravi and one other. The others have all been involved in the dialogues. There was a sense of real anticipation and the belief that only God had brought about the events of this weekend.

The theme for the event was In the Pursuit of Truth. Saturday night was the first open forum at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, and Ravi's talk was entitled The Basis for Truth: Defending the Notion of Absolute Truth. There were about 1500 in the audience. They were not antagonistic, at least outwardly, although one of our group sitting in the audience said he could hear several contrary reactions to what Ravi was saying. Ravi answered their questions, which were good, for about an hour, and when he finished they gave a standing ovation. One questioner turned out to be one of those from the counter cult movement that has tried to convince Ravi not to speak at the Tabernacle. Ravi had spoken to him previously over the telephone but had never met him so he didn't recognize him. Ravi's response to his question was that there in no point in cutting off a person's nose and then giving them a nose to smell, which was the perfect answer for his question, according to those who knew him.

Sunday morning our group met together at the hotel to pray for the Sunday night event. We were joined by Craig Hazen and his wife Karen, and by Greg Johnson and his wife, Jill. Craig and Greg were wonderful as they answered questions from our group about Mormonism, how this dialoguing had begun and how it has progressed and what they were hoping would come out of this event. Before we ended Michael Card had joined us.

The Sunday night event at the Tabernacle began at 6:00 pm. Our people arrived there at about 4:30 and there was already a lined formed outside the building. The Tabernacle was packed by the time the evening started, with around 1000 in an overflow room. Altogether, over 7500 people took part. It is a beautiful building. The organ itself, with 11,000 pipes, is fantastic. I would have loved to hear it played. Unfortunately, there were also protesters outside the Temple Square area with placards, people who claimed to be evangelical Christians and objected to this coming together of Christians and Mormons. The topic of the evening was Who is Truth?: Defending Jesus Christ as the Way, the Truth and the Life. Ravi?s talk was The Exclusivity and Sufficiency of Jesus Christ. Michael Card sang about four songs and Ravi spoke for about an hour to a very attentive audience. When he finished with the quote from Malcolm Muggeridge that he ends with, "amid the debris of these solemn supermen and self-styled imperial diplomatists stands the gigantic figure of One because of whom, by whom, in whom and through whom alone mankind may still have peace---the Person of Jesus Christ," the audience rose to its feet in a prolonged ovation. It was a powerful message and a powerful moment. When the meeting closed in prayer a couple of Mormon philosophers who were on the platform with Ravi told him that there was not one word he had said that they didn't agree with, even though he had touched on the biblical doctrines of the fallenness of man and the Trinity, which are very different from Mormon doctrine. And the former Presbyterian minister came to Ravi with tears in his eyes and said, "Tonight I have fallen in love with Jesus all over again!"

We were also told after the event that 15 minutes before the service began President Hinckley had asked that it all be piped into his apartment so he could hear it. Although he wasn't present in the Tabernacle one of the quorum of seventy, the president's representative, was present and was on the platform, as well as several Mormon Elders who were present in the audience. Fortunately there was no problems with the protesters, although an email that we received in our office the next day from a Christian who was there described the evening as "worse than I had thought it would be...to see Christians and Mormons praying together and singing worship songs together."

Craig Hazen closed the service in prayer but before he did he suggested that this become an annual event, suggesting "Don't you have a larger hall than this across the street?" They have built a beautiful 21,000 seat conference center across the street. Isn't that something to pray about?

Monday night at Weber State University in Ogden was the final event of the weekend. The topic that night was The Loss of Truth: The Crumbling Moral Foundation. There were between 700 and 1000 there, mostly students. Ravi's presentation was anointed and when he finished the students stood and applauded. Then we went into the Q&A, with the request that students or those associated with the universities be allowed to ask their questions. The questions were fantastic, most of them obviously coming from Mormon students because of their subjects, from the role of experience in faith to the sovereignty of God. (I have been interested to note in each of the open forums that I have attended that as the question is being asked it seems as if the audience holds its collective breath and then as Ravi begins to answer they relax and shift in their seats.) The questions were very difficult ones and Ravi answered them with sensitivity and honesty. One student prefaced his question by saying, "First Ravi, you're a stud, man!" Another man, who was obviously working hard to hold back his tears, said that he had married a girl who was part Indian "like Ravi" and that when she was seven months pregnant he lost both her and the baby. He wanted to see her again, to be able to look into her eyes and see that same face. Mormon theology teaches that marriage is eternal and that he will see her in heaven exactly as she was on earth, as his wife. But his understanding of Christian theology teaches that she would be a spirit... he didn't want a spirit, he wanted to be able to hold her and feel her and, in fact, they wouldn't even be married in heaven. Ravi answered him with great tenderness and spent quite some time assuring him that the experience of heaven would be so beyond the relationship of marriage here that it was hard for us to even begin to understand but it would involve no loss. It was a beautiful exchange between them. And then the same man from the counter cult group that spoke up Saturday night came to the microphone and said that he understood how this man felt as he had lost his mother before she has repented from Mormonism and he understood the loss as he knew what this meant for his mother's place in eternity. He then proceeded to drop several well-known names in evangelical Christianity who "send you their love." Ravi was incensed with the man's crassness and insensitivity to the other man's situation and he responded to him quite firmly. In a sense, it cast a pall over the event but at the same time it showed the reality of what is at stake here. And when the Q&A finished, the audience stood to their feet again in appreciation of what had been said.

As we drove back to Salt Lake with Greg and Jill, there was a sense of thankfulness to the Lord for what He had accomplished over the weekend. There was also a sense of great fatigue on the part of all of us. I always think at times like this about the incident in Scripture where it is recorded that Jesus knew that someone had touched Him because He had felt the power going out of Him. To do the Lord's work takes a lot out of you, whether you are on the planning side of things or the speaking side of things. And we know it's not over, as there is bound to be a lot of reaction to what took place, both good and bad. Please especially pray for Greg and Jill; they will take the brunt of reaction as they remain here while we leave to take on other challenges.

Again, I want to thank you all for your prayers and encouragement as it is only by the power of God and His strength that this weekend could have taken place. And please continue to pray for these whom God also loves and for whom Christ also died, that the eyes of their understanding might be opened and that they may see Jesus. Please pray for Craig Hazen, Craig Blomberg, Ron Enroth, David Neth, Richard Maouw, Joe Tkach and Greg Johnson as they continue to interact with these men like Bob Millet, Andrew Stiller, David Paulsen, Roger Knolls and others in their dialogues and discussions over what the Bible actually says on doctrinal issues. And also for President Hinckley, that God will continue to use him to keep the doors open, even though he may not know it, and that even he will recognize the sufficiency of Christ. I am so glad that God is the ultimate judge. Though we may never really be certain here on earth where some of these folk stand, it will be wonderful and another reason to praise the Lord Jesus Christ, who looks on men's hearts and not on outward appearances, when we see many of them in heaven.

There was a reporter from Rolling Stones who pretended to be a Christian and went to Hagee's church for awhile. He went to a weekend retreat and what he reported back was sick.

I won't link to the article because it has some bad language in it. The reporter wrote it for the Rolling Stones audience, so there is some mocking and a few bad words in it. I read it and was saddened because this author played along with everything and fit right in with them.

Since I won't put a link, I'll give you the name of the article. You should be able to find it easy enough on a search engine. If you don't find it, just PM me. It's called "When Jesus made me puke." I thought it was very interesting what he witnessed and at the same time very sad.

.......and there come in [those that are] unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

I would like to follow up with your comment here regarding Ravi Zacharias Ministries. He sold out to the Mormon Church years ago.

Hagee is just another one of long line of preachers that are into filthy lucre, these are covetous ministers and are unrighteous, not elected, neither of holiness.

hi mate
John Hagee didn't say Jesus wasn't the Messiah if you look at what he said it was that the Jews couldn't reject what wasn't offered to them he never said once he was the massiah,Jesus came as The Lamb of GOD the suffering servant, in the 2nd coming we see THE LOIN OF JUDEA the messiah to the Jews who comes to restore Israel to the father and judge the world and the enemies of Israel.Yes Jesus was and is the Messiah but he was following the plan of the Godhead he had to die on the cross this was not some plan B its what he had to do he was born to die for the sins of the world mine and yours and all jews and gentiles who would trust and believes on him,on Hagee I am saddened if he has when back on the truth about the RCC as I liked his support for the nation of Israel as I am a Christian Zionist but will have to keep an eye on JH as I am against the RCC and her lies. GOD bless ps im new to this so hello all. :-)

Guys, I know u have to hurt right now? I hurt right now, I am sleepless, I am in a stinkin uproar with dissatisfaction with all that has recently taken place to say the least. My heart is silent right now....

Hagee sounds to hard when He speaks, but for the sake of saving face with a Presidential candidate, he would rather lie and sell out to save a candidate. Mc Cain can do nothing for the coming judgement and reckoning.
This is not a political discussion, just adding how sad it was for him to recant.

Jews couldn't reject what wasn't offered to them he never said once he was the massiah

Hello and welcome to SI,

This doctrine is just as heretical. It's painfully obvious that the Gospel was preached to Jew first. Obviously if it was preached to them, it was offered to them...

Don't believe this stuff Hagee is saying for a moment. Here are scriptures that plainly show the Jews knew his claim.

Mat 26:63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
Mat 26:64 \tJesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Mat 26:65 \tThen the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
Mat 26:66 \tWhat think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
Mat 26:67 \tThen did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote [him] with the palms of their hands,
Mat 26:68 \tSaying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

The leaders obviously knew his claims.

Right on, Preach!

This is my favorite:

John 8:58-59 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM. Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

Anyone wanna tell me that the Jews didnt understand what His claim was?

Or perhaps maybe this might clear things up a little... I know this next passage is rather subtle, but if you use a magnifying glass and read real slow... there is a good chance you might catch it...

John 4:25-26 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

It's just plain foolish to believe Jesus didnt claim to be the Messiah. John Hagee has been a "preacher" for how long now? And he still hasnt figure this out?

An 8 yr old Sunday School student can tear apart Hagee's theology.

Psalm73

I'll use quotes to throw out Hagee's theology, and give you some correct theology, from 2 major reformed theologians.
William Tyndale from the preface to the 1526 N.T
Repent and believe the gospel, as saith Christ in the first of Mark. Apply alway the Law to thy deeds, whether thou find lust 1 in the bottom of thine heart to the law-ward, and so shalt thou no doubt repent, and feel in thyself a certain sorrow, pain, and grief to thine heart, because thou canst not with full lust do the deeds of the law. Apply the gospel—that is to say the promises—unto the deserving of Christ, and to the mercy of God and his truth, and so shalt thou not despair, but shall feel God as a kind and a merciful father. And his spirit shall dwell in thee, and shall be strong in thee, and the promises shall be given thee at the last (though not by and by, lest thou shouldest forget thyself, and be negligent) and all threatenings shall be forgiven thee for Christ's blood's sake—to whom commit thyself altogether—without respect either of thy good deeds or of thy bad

Martin Luther - GOSPEL TRANSCENDS LAW

1. This epistle lesson sounds altogether strange and wonderful to individuals unaccustomed to Scripture language, particularly to that of Paul. To the inexperienced ear and heart it is not intelligible. In popedom thus far it has remained quite unapprehended, although reading of the words has been practiced.

2. That we may understand it, we must first get an idea of Paul's theme. Briefly, he would oppose the vain boasting of false apostles and preachers concerning their possession of

THE SERMONS OF MARTIN LUTHER, VOL. VIII, PAGE 224

the spirit and their peculiar skill and gifts, by praising and glorifying the office of a preacher of the Gospel with which he is intrusted. For he found that, especially in the Church at Corinth, which he had converted by the words of his own lips and brought to faith in Christ, soon after his departure the devil introduced his heresies whereby the people were turned from the truth and betrayed into other ways. Since it became his duty to make an attack upon such heresies, he devoted both his epistles to the purpose of keeping the Corinthians in the right way, so that they might retain the pure doctrine received from him, and beware of false spirits. The main thing which moved him to write this second epistle was his desire to emphasize to them his apostolic office of a preacher of the Gospel, in order to put to shame the glory of those other teachers--the glory they boasted with many words and great pretense.

3. He starts in on this theme just before he reaches our text. And this is how it is he comes to speak in high terms of praise of the ministration of the Gospel and to contrast and compare the twofold ministration or message which may be proclaimed in the Church, provided, of course, that God's Word is to be preached and not the nonsense of human falsehood and the doctrine of the devil. One is that of the Old Testament, the other of the New; in other words, the office of Moses, or the Law, and the office of the Gospel of Christ. He contrasts the glory and power of the latter with those of the former, which, it is true, is also the Word of God. In this manner he endeavors to defeat the teachings and pretensions of those seductive spirits who, as he but lately foretold, pervert God"s Word, in that they greatly extol the Law of God, yet at best do not teach its right use, but, instead of making it tributary to faith in Christ, misuse it to teach work-righteousness.
