Henry Blackaby is preaching right now.

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/sermonindex.net-live-webcast-events

The Kingdom of heaven is standing right next to you - right now.

Is anything happening around your life? Where are the transformed lives around you?

We must pay attention. Isaiah 59:21. God wants to make a covenant with us.

If we return to Him, if we repent, His words will not depart from us - or our children - or our grandchildren.

Why is there no revival? Luke 12:54-56. We can sing about the King, and then walk away without any reference as to how to apply it to our life.

Don't comfort those under conviction of sin - you can pray for them. We must pray. When God's people return to Him - He will return to them.

You need to repent. Ask the Lord where you need to repent. If no lives are being transformed around you, you are out of fellowship with Him.

The preachers are not asking God's people to repent, there are calls to others, but not God's people.

These is no reference point to experience in revival. Once you have been around it, you can never be without it.

Don't ask God to bless America if we will not repent. 2 Chronicles 7:14. The healing of America waits upon the repentance of God's people. He sent 9/11 - He sent hurricane Ike - He sent the financial crises - what else must He do? How many more warnings do we need to have before God's people fall on their faces? God's people are not getting the message.

Significant intersession must happen before there is revival. When we pray God adjusts us to Himself. God's people are not humbling themselves...

One child of God, yielded to God, can be used by God for mighty works.

Change us O Lord, prepare our hearts - O Lord come but prepare our hearts ahead of time so that we will know that it is You.

Francois Carr is speaking.

2 Chronicles 5:1-13,6,7:1-3,17

The revival in Scotland - the presence of God was everywhere. The revival in the "congo" (?) - there was first a time of preparation, a personal preparation of learning to walk with God moment by moment.

Today, in South Africa and America, something needs to be in place that is missing. We need the moment by moment awareness of His presence before revival will come.

At the Western Wall there were people going through the motions to pray, but it did not appear to be for God.

Covenant is being aware of the One before whom you stand. Psalm 24. The direction of our heart before the One whom we are standing.

The foundation of revival needs to be in place. What do we need to do to prepare - "If the Father is pleased He will send it" - we need to live a life that will please the Father.

If you live the normal Christian life you don't need to repent for the everyday things of life.

God wants to give revival - because He is revival. We need to walk in His way. We need to love God - an intimate love relationship with God.

We need to walk in His word. We need a life of gratitude.

We need to process that which God sends forth. Solomon encounters God - God promises that if we walk with Him, He will bless us.

It's not about pursuing revival for change . . . it's about pursuing God.

Just before God sent revival, He sent Solomon to the next level - walking in His commandments before Him. We need an awareness of the presence of God.

The greatest need today is that we have lost the awareness of the presence of God.

Come back to God. With an awareness of the Kingdom of God next to you - what will happen in the everyday things in life.

First the awareness of His presence - then walking before Him. To have real conviction of sin because we see how He sees. It's not about revival - it's about walking before Him, and if He is pleased, He will send it.

Walking before Him moment by moment. What is the use of repenting if we just have to repent again because we are not aware of His presence.

Walk before His face. How are you walking today before the face of God. Are you aware of the fact that we have taken God to places without being aware of it? He goes with us.

We are going through the motions without having our hearts fixed upon Him. We need to repent for the ignorance of the presence of God.

Al Whittinghill is now preaching.

God wants revival. How could we imagine otherwise. He is waiting for us for us to prepare the alter of God. God says "if My people will - then I will."

God looks on the heart. We need a clean and pure heart. God starts with hearts - we start with other things. It is our own hearts that are the hinderence - not others.

Mark 5:21. God loves a true and trembling heart. The woman came differently than everyone else.

God yearns for us to respond with all our heart. Our problems are not in the white house - they are in God's house.

Men like how to's - men like menthods - but we don't want our hearts to be hurt - we don't want to be vulnerable. God gives us a new heart.

We can feel spiritual and never really be spiritual at all.

Conscience is to know together with - to know together with God. Every one has it, a knowledge of good and evil - like a courtroom in the soul. God uses it to tell us what we need to be. It's deep, it's powerful and it's overriding all.

In today's church we've taken away the real conviction of God. This is why we are having all of the problems of today. Our problem is the problem of the heart.

Romans 10:17. How do you lay hold of faith? 1 Timothy 3:9 "Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience." The way you hold it is with a pure heart and a good conscience. It's honesty. 1 Timothy 1. Holding on to the good conscience.

Our conscience becomes seared - our life flow begins ebbing away - we must confess. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Without a good conscience we can not walk with Jesus.

The organ of faith, or conscience - In Acts 24 Paul cried out to maintain a conscience void of offense.

1 John. If our heart condemns us not - willing to live honestly in all things. It is all through the scriptures.

Satan wants to mess this up. He looks for an exposed area. God will protect us if we abide in Him. Satan wants to divide our heart. Ephesians - give no foothold - the devil wants to short circuit.

A wrong attitude will rise if our heart is not set toward the Lord. Search me O God. Ransack my heart, look in all the drawers - teach Thou me.

The Lord wants to take us a different way . . . to take us down the corridor of our own soul.

The church needs to deal with the heart. If there is no confidence in Him - we can't really pray.

If you sit in the dark you get used to it. Light comes and we retreat to the darkness.

What will defile our conscience?
1) Tolerating or harboring what God Himself has shown me what is wrong. Compromise. There is no such thing as secret sin - all of heaven is watching.

An uneasiness with God. Am I willing to deal with the real issues. Proverbs 28:13. We cover things instead of dealing with them. If the Holy Spirit points it out, it is not a little thing. No sin can lodge in a Christian's heart without their permission. Unjudged sin makes fellowship with the risen Lord Jesus impossible. Would I rather feel right or be right. Everybody wants to be happy - but the question is do you want to be holy . . .

2) Unforgiveness. Matthew 18. God will forgive us as we forgive others. We must forgive from the heart. The bottom of a unforgiving heart is pride.

3) Sins of omission. James 4:17. It's not a matter of legalism, it's a matter of obedience. Obedience is never passive, it is always active.

4) Idolatry. A double mindedness. And idol is anything you would not, or could not, give up right now if Jesus says to give it up.

5) Un-Christ-like relationships. It's not the action - it's the attitude - trying to get the approval of men.

6) Impure of selfish motives. It's all about us so much of the time. Stop using God as a stepping stone. Stop making satisfaction our goal.

2 Corinthians 6:16. We accuse Him of holding out on us, when the truth is that we love that sin. He is faithful - He will cleanse us. We are the hold up to revival.

Humbling ourself is not a feeling, it is a choice. Let the goodness of God lead His people to repentance. Hidden springs of the Bible.

The alter is the foot of the cross. Repentance is the key to healing of the church, and then to the nation.

Don Currin is now preaching.

Romans 11:33. Oh the depth of the riches . . .

The slowness of God's ways. Churches are buying into marketing strategies. We are not recognizing the ways of the Lord. Lack of understanding of God's slowness is part of the problem. We are weary of waiting.

God's Word never alters. We are taught that if things are not happening, we need to make them happen - this is wrong.

Why has God taken so long to respond? Why is God taking so long in sending revival?

1) To enlarge our understanding of His character. He is sovereign, we are not. He is in control. We can not twist His arm. We need to be content with that -

2) To test our faith in His word. To try our obedience to His written word. Saul did not wait. Waiting is very difficult for prideful people. Our fears for ourselves make us step out too soon.

3) To bring glory to Himself. John 11. Lord if you had been here . . . why was Christ so slow? How will God get more glory - healing the sick or raising the dead? HE should be our contentment. Luke 2:25.

Revival is not a result of our merit, but God's mercy. Revival always begins in the heart of God.
Jonathan Edwards was not even looking for revival and the Lord sent it. There are several examples of God sending revival when it was least expected - this was the result of people being focused on God rather than revival.

Abraham with Haggar is an example of what happens when we don't wait.

What should we do while we wait?

1) Learn to define spiritual success from a spiritual point of view. Walk in faithfulness before Him. If you are in Christ you are going to bear fruit. Revival is not your chief passion in life - it is Christ. Real success is doing the will of God regardless of the consequences - even if God is not sending revival.

2) Rest completely in the Lord's timing.

3) Learn to find your contentment in Christ alone. Philippians 4:11.

Some are making spiritual awakening a god.

Isn't Jesus enough? HE is the end.

BTW, HeartSong, good job on those notes - I do not think I will have to take notes- just come back and read yours, that way I can concentrate better on what is said! On the other hand, I just might change my mind - after all, I am a woman and can easily do that! lol

I was just thinking about this before I logged on. It is difficult for me to just sit and listen (in school I had to draw pictures so that I hear what was being said). I am usually out walking when I listen to sermons, but I can't do that with the Conference so I had planned on doing other things as I listened - I think God has me doing this so that I stay on task . . .

Paul Washer is preaching.

An indictment of hope. We need revival and an awakening - He has given instruction but we can not expect an answer unless we are laboring for reformation.

We are frail - but we have an indictment - the Church does not line up with scripture.

We all are guilty. We are not to be impulsive or arrogant. 1 Timothy 5. There is an awakening going on - the young men are going back to the rock - they are declaring that things have to change and going back and evangelizing their churches.

The older ministers are telling these youth that the things they are learning are nothing different - but it is totally different.

Ten Indictments:

1) A practical denial of the sufficiency of Scripture.
2 Tim 3:15. The Bible being inspired is only half the battle - the question is, is the Bible sufficient? What do we have to do with all of these modern day social experts that are actually against the word. Everything needs to be based upon the Word of God. All should rest upon "What is Thy will O God." God is the seeker. We are not called to build empires - we are called to glorify God. Isaiah 8. There is always a new fad - and we're always looking for a new theory. Why are we consulting the spiritually dead?

2) An ignorance of God. Many love their image of God rather than God. Psalm 50. People don't know God. 1 Cor 15:34. When is the last time you attended a conference on the attributes of God? To know Him is eternal life. To know HIM. Sunday is the greatest hour of idolatry in the entire week - we've made a god just like ourselves.

3) A failure to address man's malady. Man must be made aware of self in order to turn themselves over to God. The Spirit of God upon us will make others fall to the floor in despair of their sin. We are saying peace, peace when there is no peace. No one has ever been able to bear the witness of the Spirit. We esteem self more that we esteem God. As the night became dark, the stars come out in their glory. . . .the backdrop of our depravity.

4) An ignorance of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We do not know the gospel - we have reduced it to four little steps. The gospel begins with the nature of God, and then to the nature of man - if God is just - He cannot forgive you - Christ redeemed us from the curse - He became the curse for us. God turned away because His Son became sin. The cup was the cup of God the Fathers wrath.

Gospel reductionism - when there is no power, then we go to the tricks that do not work. When we catch a glimpse of what He did on that tree, we will not need anything else.

As Abraham did with his son, God did with His Son and slaughtered Him.

5) An ignorance of the doctrine of regeneration. Calvinism is not the issue, regeneration is. It is the work of God - He recreates man. We are always Ezekiel standing in the valley of dry bones, and they are always dry - once we understand that we no longer need to manipulate. Ye must be born again. If any man be in Christ he is a new creature.

The idolatry of descisionism.

6) An unbiblical Gospel invitation. Evangelism begins with the nature of God - who is God. We are crying out for revival, but don't even have the foundation straight. Everybody wants to go the heaven, but they just don't want God to be there when they get there. Men are haters of God.

We have no authority to tell men that they are saved. The doctrine of the uncarnal Christian has sent many men to hell. A tree is known by it's fruit.

. . . working till Christ be formed - John 3:16 (Praise the Lord!)

7) Ignorance regarding the nature of the church. "It's the church stupid" - Jesus gave His life for the church. There is not a remnant of believers inside a larger unit called the church. The remnant is the church. Pastors and preachers don't know what the church is. The lambs are getting blamed for all the things the goats are doing. Jeremiah 31:31. There is a difference between the new and the old covenant. He writes the laws within our hearts - we will know Him.

Just because we say it is so does not make it so.
Jeremiah 32:38. He will pull a people. One heart and one way. The church is one - she has always been one. (Praise the Lord!)

Do not say the church is full of sin - do not speak of the bride that way - it is the goats. We will have to answer if we say such things. We are being cowards . . . the bride of Jesus Christ is precious to God. Luke 39. Christ in His Holiness.
If you have no fear of Him it is sign (that you are not in Him).

8) A lack of loving and compassionate church discipline. We confront culture by obeying God. Just have an obedience sign and the world will hate you. We can either start obeying God and discipling ourselves or God will do it for us.

One on one discipleship - people are not getting converted. You can't teach a goat into a sheep.

9) A silence on separation. Holiness. It goes back to regeneration and the providence of God - He will see to it that the work that has been begun will be finished. He let Esau run wild, but He beat Jacob to death almost everyday of his life - lovingly.

You can judge a book by it's cover - you will know them by their fruit. The puritans made an attempt to bring everything in their life under the (subjection) of Jesus Christ.

If we want the power of Him upon us - things will have to go. Do not be bound together with unbelievers. Come out from among them.

10) A replacement of the Scriptures with psychology and sociology in regards to the family. There is no authority apart from the Word of God. God doesn't need us but He does command that we are obedient. God doesn't have a plan B. Sunday school and youth groups - Proverbs 13:20 - focus should be on men teaching their own families. Not kids teaching kids.

1 Timothy 1:4 Our country is going to hell - everything is going to be maddening - v.6 - in the midst of it all be constantly nourished on the words of faith and the sound doctrine that you have been following. You can not learn doctrine well until you follow the doctrine you learn. The more you trust in the arm of the flesh the less you will see of the power of God.

We must discipline ourselves - this is a war. The men that have accomplished much have been men of labor.

Who cares about our best life now - ETERNITY! Live for eternity. Labor with all your might. Throw away your TV - crush your games.

Men, you are to be absorbed in things of godliness and character. There should be an otherness about us - men of God absorbed in the things of God so that when we open our mouth God pours out.

May God bless His church.

They are praying - many are staying to pray.

I have some gaps in the Paul Washer sermon - if anyone can fill them, please do. Also, please let me know if I have mis-stated anything.

P
paulamicela

Here are my notes from Paul Washer's message. They were taken quickly, so they may not be very well edited. HeartSong probably did a better job at it, but it may be nice to have another set of notes on the message.

(He said there were ten points, but somehow I got eleven--I'm not exactly sure how that happened!)

The sermon was exactly 2 hours long, and it was excellent. I wasn't bored once. Not even close.

Ten Indictments on the Church
by Paul Washer

1. A practical denial of the sufficiency of Scripture - Social sciences, psychology, etc. has no place in our practice. Scripture is sufficient! Base everything on Scripture.

2. An ignorance of God - Do we really know who God is? A major problem with the Church today is that we don't know God. That is why we need so many "devices"--5 ways to do this, 7 ways to do that, etc. That is why there is so much sin in the Church.

3. A failure to address man's malady - Sin must be dealt with thoroughly. If we do not deal with people's sin, the Holy Spirit has nothing to do with our ministry. We are not giving the glory to God that he deserves if we do not emphasize human depravity. The Cross is most glorious in front of the backdrop of the depravity of humans.

4. An ignorance of the gospel of Jesus Christ - Our culture is gospel ignorant, not gospel hardened. We have reduced the gospel to a few points and a superstitious prayer; we have replaced regeneration with "decisionism." The amazing problem is this: how can God be just and at the same time be the Justifier of us humans? Jesus satisfied God's justice; he was crushed by the Father. Therefore, God is now justly called both Just and the Justifier of the unjust.

5. An ignorance of the doctrine of regeneration - Regeneration is a work of God. It cannot be manipulated by any preacher. It is more amazing than the creation of the universe, because God created the universe out of nothing, but he creates the new person out of a corrupt mass. What we face today is not infant baptism, it is the "sinner's prayer." It has sent more people to hell than anything else. "I declare war on the 'sinner's prayer.'"

6. An unbiblical gospel invitation - "God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life." No! This is a totally wrong view of the gospel. Begin with talking about who God is; tell the sinner that the gospel may cost him his life. Unbiblical invitations lead to false conversions--and send people to hell. People do sometimes get saved using the "sinner's prayer," unbiblical invitation, but it is in spite of the method, not because of it. People need to want God, not "want to go to Heaven." Everyone wants to go to Heaven, they just don't want God to be there. People cannot live in sin and carnality all of their lives and be Christian. These tricks we play are not the Gospel!

7. An ignorance regarding the nature of the Church - The Church is the institution ordained by God. The Church is very important. "It's the Church, Stupid." There is not a remnant of believers in the Church, the Church is the remnant. It is the group of those who are truly following Jesus. Just because someone says they're part of the Church does not mean they are. There are many goats among the sheep, tares among the wheat. Pastors who cater to worldly people in their churches and do not feed the true sheep will pay for it. It is costly to be part of the true Bride of Christ, but it is worth it.

8. A lack of loving and compassionate church discipline - Many pastors ignore Matthew 18; or do not want to make problems, so they do not deal with sin.

9. A silence on separation - "Without holiness, no one will see the Lord." If Jesus has your heart, he will have your body. You can judge a book by its cover--Jesus said, "You shall know them by their fruit." If we want to know God, there must be separation. We need to do what the Word of God says to do in every area of life.

10. A replacement of the Scriptures with psychology and sociology in regards to the family - Are our ideas on marriage and family based on God's Word or the world's whims. God's plan is for fathers to teach their children. It is not the job of Sunday School to do that! Youth group: youth should be with adults so that they can learn to be wise and act like adults.

11. A lack of discipline in knowing and following Scripture and doctrine - 1 Tim. 4. It is not enough to simply know what the Bible says, we must know it and obey it. We will never really learn doctrine until we obey it. Be disciplined. We are in a war. It is hard, and it will cost you everything. But who cares about "Your Best Life Now"? Live for eternity!

Roger Ellsworth is preaching.

. . . (the beginning is missing - approximately the first half hour)

Don't be content with the trickle, we need to crave the torrent.

The church can identify mercy here and there, and thank God for it, but we should never be content with mere drops here and there but we must long for the showers.

God answers the psalmist prayers. Those who sow in tears shall reap in tears. In captivity you faced your sins, and shed tears - and that is when the revival came. God first breaks hearts.

The need to repent. How broken are we over our sins today. Isaiah 6. Holy, holy is the Lord . . . woe is me . . . We must join Isaiah in saying woe is me.

We must quit pointing fingers of blame at others and point to ourselves.

It is easy to pay lip service to revival - but it will not come that way - we must confront our sins.

God forgives the sins of His people - if we confess them - He is faithful and just.

Repentance is thinking again - saying we are going to rise and go to our Father. The prodigal son.

Sometimes we thing we have done things - that we have gone to far. We need to get up and go to our Father. The Father will see, and run to us, and embrace us.

No matter how great our sin - it is not greater than the grace of God.

God casts our sins away from us - as far as the east is from the west - and does not remember them anymore.

Those who sow in tears, shall reap in joy.

Gareth Evans is the moderator.

Panel: (7)
- Don Currin
- Al Whittinghill
- Ron Owens
- Paul Washer
- Bret Williamson
- David ?
- Ralph Sutera

Q What are some of the helps to maintain a passion for Gods Glory and God centered Life?

D? God brought a brokenness from time on your knees, and reading books, and Scripture. Getting into the Word, prayer, praying with someone.

PW Two Texts - Rom 12:1&2. Mercies of God, deeper I go, the more my passion Eph 4. Turning point. The more we discover the person grace of God, the more we are motived to want His kingdom to come.

Q What role should women take?

PW One of the most neglected is theology for women. In the church - family is neglected because of feminism & demasculation of men. Need to be a devoted wife and mother - church is so busy doing the work of the woman & wife. Need to free the church.

Q What will it cost the American church in order to see a true __ revival.

RS The cost would be brokeness - can only happen when we see God for who He is. Praying ground. Humility.

AW "A cost" v. "the cost" Anything - a cost He answers - No everything. Not anything - everything

Q Is it not an indictment that you look to your country for your identity (America)?

DC Churches are to blame. We are content to live without revival. US is in great, great need.

PW pledging allegiance - institutions - 1 Timothy relationship to family - allegiance even to government - citizen under the banner submit.
Only when government contradicts - stand and proclaim - far too much hope in political parties.
...both wings are on the same bird - and it is corrupt. Christians should participate - but when identify itself as it has corrupted itself. Should not join arm and arm with anything outside of the Christian Church.

D? Preach righteousness - what we do will affect - salt and light - let Jesus shine through us.

Q The American church in still in bed with the harlot - Should we not be calling the church to repentance - fasting - weeping?

PW Weeping - the Spirit moves - we must preach truth so they have a reason for weeping. Return to the basics. Fasting - not a means, but a barometer or measuring stick of passion. When our passion is so great that food no longer has a taste to me - that is what we need to come to - eternity is at stake. We must realize the dire need we are in - that comes back to the preaching.

AW Passion - fire in the bones. No spontaneity - let the fire radiate our bones - so there is an overflow. Let the ministers wail - he must be a living embodiment. The real church - the invisible church . . . we must fear Him. Daniel 9 - weeps, that is where...

DC Vision of God plumbing - recognize the need. What we see is what affects us. God shows us by revelation - moved to prayer and fasting.

BW Weeping - if the pulpit is not weeping...a choking child, to hear the wailing of the mother not caring about anything, just crying out for help, desperation - this is what the church should be doing. Help comes by the cry.

Q How would you define sanctification?

D? Salvation is a look to Jesus - sanctification is the gaze of faith

Q ... being in one accord ... like in Acts

DC You don't have to have perfect unity for the Holy Spirit to be poured out. Endeavor to keep at all cost but still God can override

AW 7x one accord - transfixed on the glory of God - obedience. The fear of the Lord - the awe. The lack of the fear of the Lord puts us in splinters. "We don't" becomes self righteous - pride. The fear of the Lord cleans and sanctifies - the reason not together is we have not been melted together to Him. Give us the heart - so that the things of earth go strangely dim.

RO Music given to bring together - then enemy has used to destroy and pull down - worship is a tool. We have misunderstood when we divide the church over periphrial issues - we need each other. We need to give and take. It's our view of God. What and how to do instead of who God is.

Q Music - hip hop. How to return to a place of passion and purity in our worship?

RO So much of the music has come out of a Satan culture - it is being brought into the church. Need give of discernment. The world should never feel at home when they come to the church - need conviction of sin.

RS Spiritual unity. Peace. We all have preferences - we go different directions. Biblical principles make the difference . Deference - allow others to exercise theirs to attain unity. Youth respect and honor older generation. Older willing to let go for younger.

Q Do you think we will ever see revival... How can we live life so contrary to the world system?

D? Worldliness - we need to be truly born again. When we are, we won't want to do the things of the world.

PW We are all broken men before a merciful God. We are all only recipients of Grace. Getting all your ducks in row in order to get revival is not ... A broken heart God will not despise. Focus on our helplessness. Agonizing in the upper room? Why agonize - Jesus had promised. It is about His faithfulness. If it was not for Grace - the best moment of my best day would put me in hell. It is all of Grace.

AW Captivity - he had his own ideas about what it was to be righteous. We are all unrighteous. Compared to Him we are filthy. Revival comes by an intimacy with Him. Stop comparing ourselves with others.

DC Revival (walking in the Holy Spirit) walk in the light v. Spiritual Awakening - times of refreshing are determined by the Lord.

Q The world being invited into the church. Apostocy. What or who are some of the false teachers teaching false ...

PW False prophet see Gal 1, Matthew 7. Need to know their doctrine. Liberals that deny diety are almost non-existent today. What we have are those who boast of power and those that boast of prosperity - they leave out doctrine from HISTORICAL... when sound preachers will not say that Jesus is the only way. - when they say it is not my ministry to judge ... "THE" Saviour" not "a" saviour

Q Do you for see that there will be a necessity for the church to become an underground church

AW When the church is silent, cults will flourish. Weeds grow much better in a cultivated area than just in your backyard. Back to one on one.

BW ...Yes.

D? Present.

RS Is America on God's side (book). We need to be prepared. We need discernment. The resurgent church - beware. Yes.

PW Yes. The church is going suffer, we are not paying attention and the net is closing. We will be, and are being isolated - silenced - persecuted. We have been feeding our children right into the enemies net. Persecution in always ment for evil but God always uses it for good.
. . .they were martyred as enemies of the state - lunatics. God is raising up young men. Apart from a great awakening these things will come upon us.

AW If God plants the church then it will come.

Q What books would you recommend on revival?
(I missed quite a few of these)

DC 2 vol life and time of Geo Whitfield / penticost today

AW Wallace - In the day of Thy Power / Ravenhill 6 vol

RO Steven Olford - Heart Cry for Revival (series)

PW Autobiography of George Mueller

BW Finney ...

D? ...Edwards - Revival,... Rivers of Living Water

RS Why Revival Tarries - Ravenhill / Ron Owens - Return to Worship

Q. What would you want to say to young pastors?

RS What is the dearest thing to our hearts even now. Am I willing to put the thing that I love most before the cross. The character of God

D? God does not make duplicates. Don't be somebody else. Just be broken yourself. An eagle...

BW I am an example of what not to do. Didn't wait upon God. Forced down doors. at 36 doing what I should have done at 21 - Wait upon God. It is tough with the passion burning.Wait upon HIM.

PW Anything can be an idol - even revival. Pursue Christ. Systematically read the Bible as a life principle. Seek out to know the classic doctrines of God every day. Beware of a critical spirit. Love is everything.

RO Prv 4 Guard your heart. Eyes - on Jesus. Ears. Tongue. Don't use God to display your talent - use your talent to display God. It is all of Grace - we don't deserve it.

AW Teach me to number my days . . . how quicky it goes. Redeem the time. Seek out those of wisdom. Stay simple. Saturate yourself in the Word of God.
Pray - listen - learn. Let Him be your affirmation. Be a see through-er not a look at-ter. Keep the cross as your only confidence

DC Be much alone with Christ in secret pray. Guard against busyness. Discretion. Learn to plumb consistently the plumbs of Calvary.

(sorry this is such a mess)

Brother Denny gave an excellent message from 1 Jn on revival / true Christianity. Here are my notes. (They are not perfectly edited!)
-Paul

Revival According to John
by Denny Kenaston

1 John 1:1-2:1

John--the Apostle of love. It was said of him that the atmosphere of church meetings changed when John entered the meeting. He had a very close, intimate relationship with Jesus. He admonished the church in Ephesus that they had "left their first love." We will be looking at John's heart for revival. Personal revival is the norm. We have gotten so used to a subnormal view of Christianity that true, New Testament Christianity seems strange. "Are you a Christian? Are you a real one?"

1. "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands..." (v1) Revival is Jesus. True Christianity and revival begin with Jesus Christ. Revival is Christ-centered, Christ-focused, and Christ-glorifying. "We have seen his glory." John was passionate about the person of Jesus Christ. Christianity is not a system of "do's" and "dont's," although there are "do's" and "dont's." But the foundation of Christianity is the person of Jesus.

2. "...that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you..." (v3) Revival declares Christ. Christianity declares itself to others; it shares itself with others. "We cannot but speak what we have seen and heard." Revival doesn't have to be advertised. It spreads. The overflow of a life full of Jesus Christ spills out onto others. Jesus said, "I will build My Church." We do not have to build it. As we make Jesus our passion and are filled with Him, we will find ourselves declaring Him to others. People will be drawn and God will build his Church. Revival is very connected to missions. When God sends revival, missions increases.

3. "...so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ." Revival is fellowship--fellowship with each other and with the Lord. A beautiful motivation for evangelism: we want others to have fellowship with God and with us. John did not just give a historical record of Jesus' life; he shared how he knew Jesus and how Jesus wants to have fellowship with each of us. Are we just going through the motions of Christianity? Is that all there is? No. Revival is fellowship with the living God.

4. "We are writing these things so that our joy may be complete." (v4) Revival is joy. Joy is not just happiness. It is way deeper than that. It is a joy comes from the presence of God. It will transform a prison to a palace. It will drive us to seek our pleasure, happiness, delight, and fulfillment from God and God alone. "In your presence there is fullness of joy." (Ps 16:11) Why are we trying to find our delight in so many other things?

5. "This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." (v5) Revival is purity. The bottom line, sum total of the message of Jesus' teaching and life is this: God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. God will not let us stay the same. We must change. If we do not want to be different, we cannot be Christians. Are we willing to let God purify us? We shouldn't be satisfied with who we are. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." (Mat. 5:8) Our eyes should be single. God's heart in purifying us is not negative. We often think of purifying as a very negative thing, but there is a positive side to it. "And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another." (2 Cor. 3:18)

6. "If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth." (v6) Revival is honesty. We need to get honest and open before God. Pride keeps us from this.

7. "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin." (v7) Revival is a walk. It is not just a matter of having an experience with God. We must continue living it out and walking with God. We must walk in the light. If God speaks to us about something, we need to obey. If we don't, we will not have fellowship with God anymore.

8. "I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin." (2:1) Revival is victory. John's theology was not, "We are going to sin; we can't help it." Rather, it was, "I am not going to sin. I will abide in Jesus and live in victory." God wants us to live above sin. (Of course, we are not talking about sinless perfection.) God wants to change us so that we can live a life of victory over sin.

Let us go from this place and walk in the light of what God has done in our hearts.
