Please pray for Mick Freeborn

S

Hello saints,

Please pray for a father of 8 children and leader in our church, Mick Freeborn. Last Tuesday while he was working in Alaska he had a ruptured aneurysm of the aorta artery. He came very, very close to dying and is now in very critical but stable condition. His wife, 17 year old son and 11 month old son flew up there from Missouri to be with him in Anchorage. He has been sedated and on oxygen since coming out of major surgery.

The doctor does give hope that he will pull through this since he is young (47), but it is a very serious situation.

Please cry out to God to bring healing to his lungs and body. And pray for grace and strength for the family during this time. Kendra (his wife) has had many opportunities to minister to the people around her. Pray for the Lord to strengthen her and fill her afresh with the Holy Spirit. And pray for the other children still here in Missouri.

Thank you, saints. This family is one of the godliest and saintliest families I have ever met. We're so grateful to have them as a part of our church and would be very grateful if you would also pray for them during this time of great trial.

~Joy

Here is something the children wrote a few days ago:

Dear Friends,

Today is our daddy's 47th birthday.

"We will be glad and rejoice in thee. We will not open the gates of the year to the dolorous notes of the sackbut, but to the sweet strains of the harp of joy, and the high sounding cymbals of gladness. 'O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise unto the rock of our salvation.' We, the called and faithful and chosen, we will drive away our griefs, and set up our banners of confidence in the name of God. Let others lament over their troubles, we who have the sweetening tree to cast into Marah’s bitter pool, with joy will magnify the Lord."
C. H. Spurgeon

Today we, the Freeborn children, do rejoice. We rejoice because we are the sons and daughters of the Sovereign God of the universe Who ordains every human event for His glory and our good. We rejoice in Him because, "He doeth all things well." We rejoice in Him because He has given us salvation through the blood of His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. Our Heavenly Father has given us so much more than we deserve and we bow before Him in gratitude and plead that His free grace and mercy may continue to descend upon us.

We rejoice too because we are the children of a good man. Our daddy is a manly man, a man of gentle strength and quiet leadership. He has a good name which is better than great riches. He has led a life that is above reproach in the workplace, at home, and in the Church. He loves the body of Christ and bleeds for it. He loves his family and has laid down his own life to protect, lead, and provide for us. He has been a shining example of integrity and diligence in the workplace. His coworkers love, honor and esteem him. Our daddy is an uncommon man and we, the Freeborn children, are honored to call him father. On this, the 47th anniversary of his birth, we rise up with one heart and voice and thank God for the privilege of being nurtured and raised by a truly great man.

We also rejoice in the beautiful body of Christ and their tender care of us. Thank you for weeping with us as we weep, for lifting us up before the throne of grace, for encouraging us with your wise and loving words. If our daddy was able he would be proud to take the right hand of fellowship with such a noble band of brothers.

Our daddy continues in stable but critical condition. The doctor says that progress will be slow. Please continue to pray for him and for us. It is very difficult for our family to be separated at this time.

Thank you all for your support. May you have a blessed and happy New Year. We love you.

Rejoicing in our great God and Sovereign,

The Freeborn Children

There were two specific prayer requests that were answered last night:

His bowels moved and his fever went down to 100.5! Praise the Lord! Continue to pray, brethren!

Thank you for praying.

Today was the best day yet for Mr. Freeborn. It was the day with the most improvement and the most stability. He is still sedated to keep his blood pressure from rising and on the respirator. The doctor is very hopeful of his recovery. The family is encouraged and are grateful for continued prayer.

Update on Mick Freeborn: he continues to slowly improve. Today and yesterday he has been breathing on his own! Over the next 24-72 hours they will work on slowly waking him up. Pray for his blood pressure not to spike and for all to go well with the waking up process. Pray also for continued strength and peace for Kendra and the family.

Thank you for praying. Here is another update:

Today, Mr. Freeborn was awake and responding! The family is praising God for this important step of improvement! However it is an extremely emotional time for him, so pray for the Lord to help him to remain calm and focus on breathing (this is very important). The family is very grateful for your continued prayers.

Mick Freeborn update: Please pray for Mr. Freeborn's kidneys. It appears that they are not functionally properly. Pray also for him to be able to sleep and rest. And pray for physical, emotional, and spiritual strength for Mrs. Freeborn. She is waiting to hear more from the doctor in regards as to what is going on with his kidneys. Thank you for praying. Please continue to cry out to God for this family!

Hi Joy,

I will pray about this too.

On a purely prosaic note, we all have a lot more kidney tissue than we need to survive (without dialysis). Kidneys do shut down in situations of shock, which no doubt he was, and real kidney failure can be fatal, but, I do believe God is going to restore his kidneys to a satisfactory level of function. This needs to happen as soon as possible, and to this end I pray.

Greetings praying saints,

Praise report:
While Mr. Freeborn does have some kidney damage, it is not affecting him now and is only something for them to consider possibly treating in the future after he has completely recovered.

Prayer needs:
Mr. Freeborn is still not sleeping very well. It is hoped that when they move him out of ICU (within the next day or two) that his sleeping will improve.

Pray for cheaper tickets to be found for flying the rest of the family up to Alaska. Money/airline miles have been provided to fly the six children up there from Missouri. They're finding it challenging to find enough seats on one plane that are reasonably priced.

Thank you for praying, please continue!

In Christ,
Joy

Mr. Freeborn is out of ICU and is walking around and has even held baby Calvin! Praise the Lord for the rapid improvement he is making. Yesterday there was some concern about the functioning of one of his lungs; we have not heard the results of the x-ray taken last night. Thank you for praying to the Lord for this family, and also praising the Lord for His great mercies towards them. Please continue!

The latest update on Mr. Freeborn is to pray for healing for his kidneys or for whatever is causing his blood pressure to rise. It is very important for his blood pressure not to rise.

The Lord is giving both Mr. and Mrs. Freeborn many opportunities to talk with people and testify of the Lord's great works. Pray for continued strength and grace for the ministry that the Lord is giving this family right now in Alaska.

God does indeed still answer prayer! It really is a miracle that he is still alive. Many people have died from aneurysms less serious then this one. Praise God for His mercies to this family!

Thank you for your continued prayers.

Dear Joy,

As the vascular system heals, which may include (amazingly) new blood vessels (tiny ones), the blood pressure should even out. Damage to kidneys also causes the BP to rise, but, the rest of the vascular system will try to compensate at a level compatible with health.

Not being able to sleep is, classically, a sign of natural convalescence, and may last several weeks. It's an important part of the healing process, partly exacerbated by the necessary little naps taken at other times of the day, which should not be discouraged.

Praise God!

Hello everyone,

Mr. Freeborn is out of the hospital, praise the Lord! He was released last night. Pray for his blood pressure to stay normal and for continued healing and strength for his body.

Rejoicing in the wonderful works of the Lord!

1IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD, AND TO SING PRAISES UNTO THY NAME, O MOST HIGH:

2To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,

3Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

4For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

5O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

Psalm 92:1-5

Lam 3:22-23
The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. {They} are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Great is Your faithfulness O Lord! All praise and glory to You!

I am praying for this dear man as well. What an encouragement it is to know that you have a family of saints who you will never meet on this side of eternity yet who are so joined with you that your joy is their joy and your pain is their pain. Lord make your Face to shine upon this family and bear Your Right Arm to them according to your loving kindness.
