Hi
A friend of mine sent this to me. It is a part of a teaching titled committing spiritual suicide. This was the first thing listed on how to commit spiritual suicide. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Ellie

1) Maintain ties—unchallenged and unbroken relationships with children of the devil. (“Children of the devil” is the description that the Bible, and God call those who have not given Jesus ownership of their lives and become washed in His Blood in a second birth.) Let these relationships lie dormant, or boldly fellowship with the unregenerate, non-disciples of Jesus in your family, your workplace, your past, your neighborhood, or other stomping ground. Either way, whether you pursue the relationships or just keep them on hold in the background, if you want to commit spiritual suicide, leave the doors open to embrace them as if they are the same as you, and part of you. Let it be “okay” with you to open your heart and affections to them. Have fond memories of them, and the things you did or could do with those that have not bowed before Jesus. Maintain heart ties with unbelievers. Thus saith the lord of darkness.

It sounds evil to me. Why in the world would I want to read anything that is from the mouth of satan?

I wish there had been a warning in the subject line - now I feel like I need to take a bath. Yecht.

Thank God I am bathed in the Blood of Jesus.

What strikes me regarding this post is the assumption that spiritual life in Christ is ours to kill. It's as though we are so vulnerable as to need to worry about our relationships with the unsaved. While it's true that we need to watch what we do and say for the sake of the Lord of Glory, and the witness to the lost, I find that the Lord's hold on me is stronger than the pull of the world. "And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day."

Like every other lie satan hands to the world, he picks on the mentally saved. You won't find him wasting a lot of time with this kind of trickery when it comes to the children of God. No. With the saved of God, satan turns to serious and more obvious attacks.

You can't sneek up on someone who wears a proximity alarm around their neck. You have to be far more agressive if you're intent in taking him out.

By His Grace.

White stone I think you misunderstood the post, it was meant as a warning to me about being with or maintaining ties with those who are not saved. It was speaking about the dangers of being around family, old friends, coworkers who are not saved and how for a christian that might be a real issue. The portion was saying that the enemy wants us to be deceived into thinking we can still walk with Jesus and maintain these relationship with those who are not saved.

Not sure why you would need to take a bath but sorry if you were offended. It was not meant to offend anyone. It was sent to me and I just wanted some outside thoughts because I do still have relationship with family and friends who are not saved who are using relationship ties to influence me in my marriage. Just wondering if I need to rethink some of these things.

Ellie, I agree with this post.

There is such a thing as being kind to the ungodly and there is such a thing as opening yourself, your mind to them and in the process allow them to influence you. As I understand this piece, this is what the warning is all about.

_____________

I do know of some who I thought were strong in Christ and on fire for the Lord who have completely turned their back on God and are now living in the world. I don't know if our spiritual life is ours to kill or not but I don't see Jesus chasing people down and forcing them to live or obey Him daily either, does seem that we have a choice. Anyway don't want to get off my own topic:)

As I said I was just thinking maybe there are some relationships that do hinder my walk with the Lord and I need to consider that? Its easy to get caught up in family things and there can be real issues when most if not all of those family members are not saved.

Thanks for your thoughts buttermilk80. I am grateful

that was what I was seeing from it as well. I do think with my sisters and my mom I have been allowing influence in my life that is opening me up to the things of this world. The more I read through this the more I see it as a timely warning from the Lord...

Ellie, a scripture comes to my mind: Psalm 1:1. This scripture notes a progression:

1. The wicked counsel you. (They teach you how to think.)

2. You socialize with them.

AND then - you become scornful.

And that is why one needs to be careful what influences you allow in your life. What mags do I read? What talk shows do I listen to? What books do I read? etc....

Simple, isn't it?

If there is such a thing as a carnal christian,
there must also be a christian devil.

Are you getting a bit feral for his infernal majesty?

What's with that fireside chatter?

Reading this post, thought shot to Psalm 1:

1 Blessed is the man

who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in cthe way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,

and on his hlaw he meditates day and night.

3 He is like ia tree

planted by streams of water

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does, he prospers.

4 The wicked are not so,

but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,

nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked will perish.
~ESV

Things such as that first text quoted are without God: ungodly.

Who cares what we think about it, because we shouldn't. If that is Christ-like, i'm satan.

What will God do about it is the better asked question.

Because God is merciful and slow to anger, and does not immediately bring down the sword on the necks of those who think about such (...much more repeat them), these things continue. There comes a time when we shall see Him in all His glory, this is the Living Word of God, whose robe is drenched in blood from trampling on those who keep any part of this, whether thought, spoken, or done.

"...as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..." is not just an aphorism.

Always ask yourself if this honors God or something else. If it doesn't, it is the spirit of something-other-than-- Christ (= antichrist).

Turn your back on it and bravely run away.

Are you trying to reserve a suite for yourself in the lake of fire?

Isaiah 33:
10 Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.

11 Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you.

12 And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.

13 Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.

14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?

15 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil...

I understand this article, I think, because as much as I love my mother, anytime I use her advice for whatever reason, it usually goes to the dogs! Listen and read on dear reader! My mother has been a very successful woman and what I mean by, “going to the dogs” has nothing to do with her advice but it has everything to do with “ME” and how “I” choose to follow advice from someone else RATHER THAN seeking the Lord.

To me, the earthly relationships and influences that I chose to follow is THAT PART which I must learn to hate, as Jesus calls it, not my physical mother.

Boy, I hope I am conveying my heart here and that this is readable as well as understandable because I am in no way speaking or thinking evil of my mother and not honoring her; and I hope that comes across in this. Please let me know if it hasn't. (edit) Writing this, I do not mean to imply that my mother is unsaved, which she isn't!(unedit)

Let me say this first, that the only Lord of Darkness is Jesus Christ. Satan or any of his cohorts have no authority only that which is allowed by the LORD of LORDS. We forget that Jesus "spoiled principalities and powers and made a show of them openly," and then turned around and "gave gifts unto men". Christ also took the Keys of Death and Hell. Satan is called the "god of the this world", not that he is a god by decree, but because people love darkness.

It's a scary thing that you have brought up Ellie.

In some aspects we all maintain ties with some sort of the old man. There is always that one thing that keeps us from going all the way with Jesus. David said, "see if there be any wicked way in me". I say, "I KNOW there are wicked ways in me, reveal them to me that I may repent of them."

I have for many years believed that God will bring us through regardless of where we are at spiritually. In the last 10 years or so, I have had doubts of that because I have seen other believers that I know of die before their time. They had incredible faith. One brother who was 57 had lung cancer and believed that God would raise him up and now he is dead. The man smoked, but because of the wisdom, knowledge and understanding that he possessed, I overlooked that. I know that God was dealing with him on that issue but he never did anything about it. Now that was a physical ailment. It must also act in the spirit.

Spiritual suicide an interesting thought, I wish I could comment on it.

Phanetheus wrote: If there is such a thing as a carnal christian, there must also be a christian devil.

Is this belief the Lordship view or something or other like that? This is nothing personal towards you, Phan, but in my humble opinion, the sentence above is pure baloney straight from the butcher’s shop!! (huge grin) And I’m not trying to start a fight with you! I guess we just read and interpret our Bibles differently.

How am I so sure there are carnal Christians? I was carnal Christian for years and I know beyond a shadow of doubt that I was saved. I would have been devastated to have died during that time; it’s the Lord compassion’s that we are not consumed!

While I was a carnal Christian, I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, spoke in other tongues and I started out well but who did I let hinder me? A man entered the picture and I began living according to the flesh.

It’s ONLY the compassion of the Lord I was not consumed and still not consumed because I still fail at times (on different things), I do not wake up and say, “I’m going to cuss today.” But some days it happens! I must and do repent if and when it does.

Maybe I’m wrong but to me the entire Bible is about letting go of our fleshly nature and taking on His nature. “You did run well; who hindered you that you should not obey the truth?” (Gal 5.7) speaks directly to carnal Christians who started out well but in the end didn’t obey the truth. And “brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you who are spiritual, restore him in a spirit of meekness lest you also be tempted.” (Gal 6.1) And also, the Spirit and flesh “are contrary to one another, so that you cannot do the things that you would.” (Gal 5.17)

The verses in Gal 5, 19 through 21 speaks of the works of the flesh that God wants to deliver each one of us from; but will we let Him? The Word of God doesn’t say, “We’re not saved” if we do these things but we are warned that “they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

I don’t know, it just tells me that He will strive with us while there is time but if we PERSIST in “receiving not the love of the truth,” we will indeed hear, “Depart from me, I know ye not.”

Just my two cents on the subject! God bless you Phane!

The butcher shop yes, and that's the remains off the chopping block.

Billy Sunday said something like that when a sermon of his was heard and the thought stuck.

If you have read this far, look above just before this response began.

I went through the same thing as you but far worse, if there is such a thing as a worse sin: orgies, drunkeness, narcotic addiction, sorcery, and everything that went with these things.

What you went through is identified with completely, and it's so good HE took it all away.

He was with me all the time and though i greived Him, He never left, and He ALWAYS answered my prayers...prodding me to turn back through this and many other ways.

You wondered why I mentioned needing a bath. It is because the text you posted did not measure up to the instructions given below.

Philippians 4:
8 Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise,
think on these things.

9 Those things,
which ye have both learned,
and received,
and heard,
and seen in me,
do:
and the God of peace shall be with you.

There are people from my past that I remember with fondness, not a longing to reestablish the former relationship but with the hope for their salvation, whether I meet them again in this life, or not. Family members that are unsaved are still my family members, I would not turn them away if they were in need and I had the means to help. If we are to Good Samaritan's, I do not think we should be judging those we help. At the same time, we are not to cast pearls before swine. Help, yes - party, no.

I remember the anguish expressed by a Sister here, when confronted with her dying Father and his request that she visit him. Even though the Father expressed no remorse for any harm caused by him, she was encouraged to visit and forgive. This text you posted does not have forgiveness in it, that I can see and that is where the filthiness comes from.

It is my belief that reading 'anything' outside of God's Word is risky business and must be prayed about before accepting. I do think that if the Spirit turns me away I would be reading at my own risk should I continue. This is not to say I do not read other works, I just consider the source.

So I feel and am convicted that in only posting a portion of this warning that was shared with me I have done it an injustice. For that I am sorry and say so publicly to the person who in love shared it with me.

Thank you to those who understood what I was asking about. Honestly some of the replies that have been given by others I don't even understand, so I will read them again and pray over them. MY main reason for posting and asking was because a loving sister in Christ was warning me, she told me she has seen me pulling away from my husband(to the point I have been thinking of not moving back in with him) and some family in the body of believers because I was allowing my mother(who is not saved) and sisters to give me counsel and advice. I have been spending to much time with them and unsaved family out of fear of loosing contact with them(I see that now)and also out of fear of what lays ahead.

The warning was not in my understanding about not caring for or helping family when in need, it was a warning to me that if I continue to allow the counsel and influence of my unsaved family and friends, I "will" loose my marriage and I could end up walking away from the Lord. Spiritual suicide.

I asked for thoughts because I see now that I was still sitting on the fence, I wanted a way out, and I wanted a reason to listen to those who tell me not to be with my husband and not to go "Over board" with this Jesus stuff. In dealing with some issues in my life I wanted reasons to put Jesus second and be ok with it...

This is a time for much reflection and prayer that I need to be in.

Lord. Yes Jesus must come first in our life and
yes He must be given complete control of
all the relationships in our life. This does mean
sometimes that you will have to walk away
and break off contact some times. If your mother
constant attacks cause you to doubt
what the Lord has shown you then you
must leave her. I will writemore later.

All day long a phrase has been going through my mind. I had forgotten which post it had come from until I re-read this thread. The phrase is "mentally saved". Such a powerful picture that draws. Those would be the tares. And how curious it was that the Lord said to leave them where they were lest in the up rooting of them, you up root the wheat also. For those who appear to be "on fire" for the Lord and then just walk away at some point, John said this: "They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us." (1 John 2:19)

I am personally convinced that if we belong to Jesus there will be an assurance we can trust. If we are simply going through the motions it will eventually show. We read this: "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[m] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8: 37-39)

What we are debating here is something that we are not allowed to know fully while we are this body. Yet by faith we take hold of Him who took hold of us. There is great and unspeakable joy in debating this issue from the perspective of one who knows he is in the hand of Jesus. There would be little joy, and perhaps an argument if this were debated by a mentally saved bunch.

By His Grace.

Ellie:
So may I ask you then would your advice be that this warning is not from the Lord. You feel as if I am repeating something that is not from the Lord?

g:Your first post was definitely not, and if it was, as you say, couched within a complete text, it would be best to question the advice of the one giving it, (even though some of it may seem good). If that whoever wrote whatever is mixing black dirt with what is clean, no matter to what purpose, they do it in other ways, too. How extreme or mild it may be is not the issue. Dirt contaminates what is clean.

Be wary of their advice.

E:
So then would your advice be that I should continue to have contact, spend time with and listen to the advice of unsaved family and friends even when their advice is that I should divorce my husband and not go over board with this whole Jesus stuff??

g:When they tell you the wrong way, the Lord has opened the door for you to testify. Tell them how Jesus is at work in this and and because they do not have relationship within Him they cannot understand because they do not desire it.

Have you ever stopped to consider that they may just envy you?

Continue relationship by all means...until they can't stand you telling them that if they do not repent and are converted through the blood of Jesus who died to save them from their sins, they will die, be judged by God, and go to hell."

Since you already are familiar with their methods and ways, pray for them continually. Bless them in their presence (even though they may think what you say doesn't.)and away from them in prayer. Do not speak evil of any of them.

Make it clear to them that your mind is not their trash can to put their messy garbage or even dirty laundry in it.

E:
So I should continue to be around them while they tear down my husband just because they are family or old long time friends?

g: Yes, but do not walk as they walk, and do not talk their talk. Let them know about God's judgement and the wrath to come. If they are true friends and family, they will remain.Let them know just how wicked their advice is, how it will cause further ruin and not better anything. Mal. 2:11,16ESV

E:
even if these same unsaved loved ones put so much guilt and pressure on me to divorce, they use manipulation to cause me to stumble...?

g: even if is not here and now. Are you going to let them live your life for you as well? Are they going to do for you and your husband what you two have had in your more pleasant past.

They say blood is thicker than water, but is their blood thicker than the one you share the marriage bed with???

This is a bond, a covenant, ordianed by God and both of you swore a vow to each other before Him, whether anybody chooses to recognize this fact or not.

Bad times do not last forever, and put away telling friends and family about anything you have between you and him. If you want to talk to somebody immediately, talk to Jesus who is moved by even the feelings of our problems that we are unable to oversome... at the moment. II Cor. 4:16,17,18

E:
Do you not feel there is ever a time when a person may have to cut off contact with a family member or friend in order to walk with Jesus and put HIM first??

g: Yes, when they threaten your life. If it ain't that bad, it ain't that bad.

Stand up for your husband as you are standing up for Jesus.

Know that in Christ you have God's righteousness, and when you stand for Him in His ways, rest assured, He will he back you up.

Proverbs 28:
1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

g: It was done when after this post now being responded to was read. The first response was just to your first post.

You need to find an elderly Christian woman who loves the Lord and has accordingly maintained her marriage vows.Seek one out and get advice from her.

Do not get advice from people who are not faithful in their own relationships, whether friends or family. If you take such advice, you can expect similar results.

Ellie,

Perhaps this will bring you to reflect on the importance of being upfront and direct in your posts (translate that to mean open and honest - without guile). Holding back facts and revealing them after opinions have been offered only serves to make void all counseling you receive. For one, I know my post would have been different.

You sign your posts, "in Him," are you? If so, why are you listening to others?

What part of, "forsaking all others," is hard for you to understand. Go back to your husband, if he will have you, and flee any other entanglements. Move where you will only have each other for company and adjust yourself to fit his ways, providing he is following Jesus as you said before. Get rid of the computer, the TV, magazines & movies. Then as you grow up you will grow together, as God intends.

Time is so short until His return, I feel next to our Risen Lord is the only safe place to be. Let the dead bury their dead.

Regarding the original text you posted, you did misrepresent it. As a warning, I can understand it but being out of context changed the meaning in my eyes. Still, that said, I would not choose to read any more from that writer. It still is evil at it's base.

Phan,

Let us look at the original post:

"Maintain ties—unchallenged and unbroken relationships with children of the devil. Thus saith the lord of darkness."

I will admit one thing - it is a tad bit confusing, but so are your posts, Phan..:-(

Let us take a look at it again:
Subject: How to Commit Spiritual suicide:

1. Maintain unbroken relationships with children of the devil.

2. Boldly fellowship with the unregenerate, non-disciples of Jesus in your family, your workplace, your past, your neighborhood, or other stomping ground.

3. Leave the doors open to embrace them as if they are the same as you, and part of you.

4. Let it be “okay” with you to open your heart and affections to them. (Or share your heart with them.)

5. Have fond memories of them, and the things you did or could do with those that have not bowed before Jesus. (Recall with fondness the memories of sinful indulgences.)

6. Maintain heart ties with unbelievers.

Do all these things and you will commit spiritual suicide. This is the point of this paragraph.

Psalm 1:1 instructs us to not get advice, counsel from the ungodly because if you do you will soon become a scoffer.

Ellie is right. One does not need to know the circumstances of her life in order to understand this principle. It is for all time for all people regardless where you are.

God bless you, Phan

Phanetheus wrote: If there is such a thing as a carnal christian, there must also be a christian devil.

Well we were most certainly all carnal at least one time in our Christian experience.

Consider this verse, notice how Paul likens a babe in Christ as a Carnal Christian.

1 Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, EVEN as unto babes in Christ.

But we don't stay there.

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Ellie said: "I asked for thoughts because I see now that I was still sitting on the fence, I wanted a way out, and I wanted a reason to listen to those who tell me not to be with my husband and not to go "Over board" with this Jesus stuff. In dealing with some issues in my life I wanted reasons to put Jesus second and be ok with it..."

My dear Sister, I never would have gotten that out of your first post, but this is quite a statement to read. It seems your going through a low time and it would be only right to return to your husband. Your unsaved family is dead to the gospel and you must give them over to the Lord in prayer. They have done a lot for you while you and your husband were separated, but it's time to let the dead bury their dead and you to cling to your husband. Marriage ain't easy, it takes a lot of work to make things work. Humility on both your parts is very essential because your changing for him and he's is changing for you.

The best medicine is usually the stuff that tastes bad. Swallowing it is pretty hard too, but once it's in the stomach, it begins to feel better.

Deep down you want to serve the Lord. You know the right thing to do, let go of your pride and submit to what you have committed yourself to. By submitting to your husband you are making God number 1.

E:
So I should continue to be around them while they tear down my husband just because they are family or old long time friends?

Absolutely NOT! You stick up for your husband and you tell them that if they want to be apart of your life that they keep their opinion to themselves. That man is your flesh now. They speak against him they are speaking against you.

I hope I don't sound harsh in this post, I have nothing but sympathy for your situation. I hope and pray that all will work out for you.

But you know, next time you might want to get phone numbers from Mary Jane, Ginny and Lysa so you can talk with godly women. Have a three way conversation going, now that would be something. Oh how I would love to listen in on that fellowship.

Incline thine heart unto Me, and let thine ear be attuned to My voice. For lo, I would speak to thee, and I have an urgent message to give thee.

Go not about to establish thine own designs. Lo, I have already set in motion My divine will and purpose and I would not have thee interfere. I am jealous about My children: Lo, they are Mine, saith the Lord; and you shall not intrude in any way such as would hinder My plans from working out. Yea, you may do many things, but only that which I direct thee to do can have My blessing upon it.

Resign all into My hands-thy loved ones as well as thine own self. Be obedient to the still small voice. Thine own imaginings may speak more loudly, but wait upon Me always. You shall see the wisdom and the glory in this in due time. Fret not about carnal things, but concern thyself first and always about spiritual values. Truly, My promise is still: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all the other needful things shall be added unto thee"

ginnyrose,

All well and good except for your stance regarding the first post and repeating it twice.

Never has clearer mississippi mud been seen before.
i can even see the crawdads... does that mean it's time to put on the boil?

...anyway, what part of the following is the most muddy to you? The guess here? 4:8, and possibly v.6 -(regarding me perhaps?)- of the same chapter?

Phillipians:

1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Chapter 4:
4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Psalm 1:1 is talking about 'doing' as those who are unrighteous. You can't help from hearing such in today's world, but to repeat it, in black and white, twice, for the whole world wide web to see?

It may be alright for you; and if so, bravo, You're a better man than i.

Phan,

I do not get your point at all. Your argument simply escapes me. Maybe if you would speak in crisp tones like Krispy does I could understand. He is southern, you know, and that is what I am used to!

Oh, you want to eat some crawdads? They are a delicacy...messy eating for sure. Grosses some folks out..but maybe they just never played barefoot in Missippi mud...

Yes, i want crawdads...i could eat a grocerybag full, but that's not kosher now is it...

...well, i'm not jew by physical progeny either, so i guess just a boxfull or twelve couldn't hurt none.

There is no debate intended in the previous post, and thinking about it while working, that last comment was not intended to offend...it is a local colloquialism used around here alot. (It bugged me, realising suddenly when mounting a window in a livingroom, that the post was to you of the female gender...my bad. I am so sorry. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?

What was intended said was that first post, at least for me, did not fall under my own standard of conduct: Phil. 4:8. i never said it was from the Lord. it's just my standard, what i TRY to do always, at various times falling short of the bar. That's all: advice not command.

Phil. 4:6 referred to was a round about way of saying we all need each other and prayer in all things sets things right in God's eyes.

i'll oblige you on the southern speak as best i can, should we cross-posts again.

Went to Picayune(sp?) once, and Bugaloosa as well, but stomped all around Louisiana for 2 and a half years, (with much travel in between stays at home), whether that was in Alexander, Westwego, Metarie or different places in St. John's Parish varied according to inclinations of trying to keep a 3 month lease or less.

Let's just drop the get it or not, because if it's not an issue to you, neither should it be to me. Phil. 4:6 right?

Gregg,

Thanks for the reply...

No offense taken ... and I do not mind if people forget my gender - I don't forget it and neither do the folks that see me in the flesh! lol I look like a female and would find it distasteful if I would be mistaken for otherwise! But writing and reading one can forget...and that is ok.

God bless you Gregg as you work to serve the LORD. That is where your heart is so keep it up. I know sometimes we fail in our communications....

So, you are in carpentry? My husband worked in that craft for years as well. (Several years ago when we visited the "Creation Museum" near by Cincinnati, OH he was more interested in the design and the structure of the building then in the exhibits inside! The floors in the restaurant are beautiful - never saw one like it before.)

Sorry - I have no crawdaddies for ya. On the other hand maybe we do - we do have a few crawdad holes in our yard, but never see the boogers. If they build large chimneys it means we will have a wet summer. And these chimneys are a nuisance; to get rid of 'em I would pour Sevin dust down the holes. One could drive over, mash the chimneys but they would always rebuild them! Smart guys!

Take care and God bless...

g:
One time?

What no human nor government agency could tame, God did much more in me. Can you say, "baaa baaah black sheep?

i know that i know that i know that nothing in this world can snatch me out of His hand, and nothing can seperate any of us from His love. i may not have liked His plans on me, yet He showed me the hard way -only because of my own stubbornness- that what he has in store is for the best of all concerned.

i should count myself lucky, He making me fear Him and love Him so, because as a result i have seen and learned many things some will never know this side of His glorious return. i love Jesus so much because He loved me enough to care for me when nobody else would, and i had done all but denied Him (to anybody). Many have called me, "afraid of God" and i am. i know the things he will do to make sure i remain in Him. Thank you Jesus!

i no longer count myself as anything special.
i no longer think that i can do anything i know better not to do, and He not notice and take things into His own hands again.

i have learned that there is nothing i can do to please Him except agree with Him and walk accordingly.

Two passages i understand through experience, and though it may seem severe, if you want God to manifest His life through yours in an extreme manner, you have no choice but to be extremely devoted to His Word and deed.

i have seen His hand act miraculously in my protection from harm and heard Him tell me many times: "You are mine and mine alone. Why shouldn't i seek His face and want to know He who has given me everything i have needed and far more?

i spoke of a major turning point, though from early childhood He constantly made sure i knew He was there with me, whatever time, place, or circumstance.

i heed His voice, and he sees me through. If i don't, He sees me through, and lighter consequences in His judgement than what could have happened...many times over.

My heart is set on Him, but 'distractions' have set me in the wrong direction sometimes. All this is recognized as carnality... but He is changing me as i submit to His plans and purposes.

i really do not care if he ever does anything towards my benefit anymore: what i consider good and not bad. Even if He saw my death fitting. This i anticipate more and more as linear time passes from present to past, always looking for that glorious appearing of our Magnificent God and Deliverance: Jesus, annointed without measure of our Father. This is what He has done for all of us in Him: this Spirit of The Holy Lamb of God who continues to live and remains forever.

i have become content in His assurance: that knowing Him is more than enough for this short and fragile life, and beyond.

We have as our brother Jesus, because Abba chose to adopt us. This shall never end.

Amen?

Psalm 25:
8 Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

11 For thy name’s sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.

12 What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

13 His soul shall dwella at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluckb my feet out of the net.

16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.

17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.

18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruelc hatred.

20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Ellie:

After reading and re-reading the original post, I would have to say I understand the heart of it and agree 100%. I have been ministering to youth for about 20 years now and have seen countless numbers come to the Lord. Almost without exception the ones who make a total change of lifestyle, especially in the area of breaking fellowship with old worldly friends, and who plug into the body of Christ flourish. Also, and almost without exception, those who fail to do this walk right back into the world. Failure to break ties has been the downfall of a great percentage of youth that I have seen fall after being born again.

Having said that, I understand that the article is not saying that we cease to love them or pray for them. It is not saying that we shun them, rather that we do not place ourselves in a position of active influence by them, i.e., maintaining close ties of the kind spoken of in 2 Cor. 6:14. It is also not saying that when we have become strong in the Lord that we should not actively seek to minister the Lord to them and see them saved.

I understand the heart of the article, and your heart as well. I think it a warning that needs to be given, especially to new or weak believers.

Krispy, you have been missing it brother. Mississippi Mud is the sweet equivalent of Starbucks espresso with quadruple shots. Mom's Mississippi Mud Cake...WOW! Great followup to boiled crawdads or BBQ either one.

God does not come to us in nicely defined, rationally explained, thought categories. God does not fit Himself into our theological text books. The Hebrew God breaks all the rules. He is near, yet transcendent; clothed in human form, yet holy; more terrifying than can be imagined, yet compassionate; invisible, yet revealed; judging, yet merciful, sovereign, yet humble. No matter where you look, God breaks the molds.
