I don't go on you tube!
Oh, ok.
You used the word "apostolic" so I wondered.
"Apostolic" is a word nearly as old as our faith. Historically it has been used to describe a church that adheres to the content and quality of the faith, life, and practice of the Lord and the apostles, and what they handed down to us once and for all. It's a word that's certainly been abused, but as the late Art Katz said, it's a word that we should be very jealous over, and that should cause us to "salivate." For it's a word that represents that which is "authentic" to our faith. Thus, when we say something is apostolic, we are saying it's something that has its ultimate origins in Christ, who is our Chief apostle.
Is my asking you for your testimony a hardship.
Actually, sometimes it can be. Sometimes I am away from a computer, and type posts on Sermon Index through my cell phone, so, I thought in this instance it would just be easier to share my testimony with you through a video that I took much time to put together. But now that I am at my computer, and not on my phone, I will gladly type out my testimony for you.
In brief, my testimony is this: Jesus Christ sought me out and took a hold of my life. I wasn't raised in a Christian home, yet the gospel found its way into my life when I was a teenager. Though the Lord revealed Himself to me in a powerful way the first time I heard the gospel and understood it, I continued to run from Him for a couple years. But though I ran, He kept pursuing me. Then one day, when I was about 16, I stopped running.
The first few years I was in the faith were very rocky years. My parents weren't going to church, so, I had very little teaching on which I could be soundly grounded upon. I was very up and down, and in and out. But the Lord continued to do a work in my life with the little that I knew, and through a complicated series of events, I had the carpet pulled out from underneath me.
The discipline I received from the Lord in that event opened me to an entire new world of faith. I sought the Lord, and though in this I was presented with a new series of challenges and trials, the Lord guided me through it all. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, and set on fire for the Lord. He began to teach me many things.
At the heart of it all, I believe that Jesus Christ rose victoriously from the grave, and the fact that He lives forevermore means absolutely everything to me. I can think of no greater truth than knowing that I serve a risen Lord, who conquered sin, death, and the devil. This orders every aspect of my life, and I serve Him with all my heart and soul as a result.
