BibleWheel

Seems like we should start a separate thread on the Biblewheel.

Joshua 5.9:
And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day

The word Gilgal which means wheel or rolling has a numerical value of 3+30+3+30 = 66. The bible has 66 books.

Gilgal was named for the location where God removed the reproach of Egypt on the 1st passover in the land of Canaan. Of course Christ removed the penalty of our sins on a later passover. The bible is the sword or wheel that hits us when we are convicted of sin and then forgiveness.

Proverbs said that the wise king scatters evil with his wheel.

Pro 20:26 A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

The Wheel of the Word? Wow!

I believe that Richard's web site, is a fantastic Biblical reference tool. I have found specific answers, that I could not find at Strongs Concordance, or similar tools, which Biblewheel.com held the researched answer, fully.

Hey friend, I know that God prefers certain numbers like seven and twelve,...but be careful

The sience of numbers that tries to find significance behind every word is similar to astrology and mystery religion that had its origin in paganism.

Hey Babes,

I hope you visit the site. Numbers are all over the place. Anyone who was trying to make a number mean something that it doesn't mean in this particular scheme, would be well aware what they were doing.

I know exactly what you're concerned about, but you can make a Christian 'horoscope' out of a daily devotional if that's the attitude of your heart.

S

Yes, I agree and thanks for the warning. But what we are talking about here is not divination or numerology. We are talking about association that comes from looking at the Bible in a multi-dimensional way.

For instance spoke 22 on the Biblewheel, has Isaiah chapters 44 and 66 and the Book of Acts.

When you read
Isaiah 66 (vss. 14-15):

And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies. For, behold, THE LORD WILL COME WITH FIRE, and with his chariots LIKE A WHIRLWIND, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with FLAMES OF FIRE.

Now notice how Isaiah's says the Lord will come with FIRE. Now if you will please read with me from ACTS (vs. 2:3)

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of FIRE, and it sat upon each of them.

Do you see the comparison of fire being used here? Also Isaiah says he will come "like" A WHIRLWIND. Now read with me ACTS 2:2:

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a RUSHING MIGHTY WIND, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

Do you see the comparison here of a whirlwind and a mighty rushing wind, these two are the same thing? Lets read on even further to understand better. Back to Isaiah 66 (vs. 18):

For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather ALL NATIONS AND TONGUES; and they shall come, and see my glory.

Now read with me back to Acts (vs. 2:5):

And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of EVERY NATION UNDER HEAVEN.

Do you see here where all nations and tongues were gathered? Do you notice the parallel of events that Isaiah prophecied would happen at Jesus's coming being fulfilled on the day of Pentecost? Now back to Isaiah 66 (vs. 19):

And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

So, what you see here is nothing about numbers but rather rolling the bible up on a wheel (hebrew alphabet) and then observing patterns that naturally (supernaturally) fall into place.

What is amazing about this is no one could make this up and no one has changed the natural order of th 66 books.

Good warning and let's keep an eye out for what you are talking about. With all of us looking at this, we can be a check and balance to each other. This has been on the web for over 10 years and all I see are positive testimonies.

U
UntoBabes

But since the original text of Scriptures had no capitalizations, punctuations, or numbers for the chapters or verses because it did not have chapter or verse divisions, but all this is the work of man to make the Bible easy to understand, there goes your science of numbers, with the whirlwind~~~~~~

The Biblewheel does not freak me out, because it is just an aid for Bible study to me. It proves the Protestant Canon was inspired by the Holy Spirit. Will not work at all with the 73 books of the Catholic Bible.

Even the Chapters and verses seem to be inspired from Richard's observations. Remember, there is no manipulation taking place. The Lord seems to be in every detail of writing His Word.

I did not know that Isaiah 66 syncs up with the 66th book of the Bible (Revelation). They happen to be on Cycle 3 of the 22nd spoke. I am just finding things faster than ever before. I am sure someone put this in some big theology book somewhere and this is probably a well known fact, already. But for someone visual like me who doesn't read theology books, it just popped right out.

Isa 66:15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
Isa 66:16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
Isa 66:17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.
Isa 66:18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.
Isa 66:19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.
Isa 66:20 And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.
Isa 66:21 And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD.
Isa 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

From biblewheel.com

This is where you want to start. A small excerpt.

The Bible Wheel is a circular presentation of the Bible that I discovered by rolling up the traditional list of the sixty-six books like a scroll on a spindle wheel of twenty-two spokes, corresponding to the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. The order of the Hebrew alphabet is established in the alphabetically structured passages of the Old Testament, most notably Psalm 119 that praises God's Word from Aleph to Tav, from beginning to end. This exemplifies how everything in the Bible Wheel is derived from Scripture and Scripture alone.

On May 12, 1995, I completed the first draft of the Bible Wheel shown above. I placed the Hebrew Letters on the outer rim so there would be room to write their names and listed the numerical position of each Book below its name for easy reference. The structure consists of a circular matrix of sixty-six Cells on a Wheel of twenty-two Spokes. The sixty-six Cells form three wheels within the Wheel called Cycles. Each Cycle spans a continuous sequence of twenty-two books as follows:

With the completion of the Bible Wheel, we now have a fully unified view of the whole Bible as a symmetrical, mathematically structured two-dimensional object. The increase from the traditional one-dimensional list of books to the two-dimensional Bible Wheel immediately reveals a host of unanticipated correlations between the three books on each spoke with each other and the corresponding Hebrew Letter.

This is the intro and the first place you want to read to understand what is going on here.

Don't say that loud, since Luther " the father of the protestant faith" wanted to take away the Book of Hebrews, 2 Peter, James, Ezekiel, and others from what we know now as the Protastant Canon because they contradicted his view of eternal security and faith alone doctrines.

If he had his wish, you would not have had 66 books.

Hi UntoBabes,

The numbers are 'in' the text, as each Hebrew and Greek letter has a numberical value ALREADY. These have not been added by the webdesigner. All he has done is draw attention to where numbers - sums and products mainly - re-emphasise MEANING which is ALREADY IN THE TEXT.

Alive, all these things do is create a thrill that may begin with healthy motives but it becomes consuming, and a bondage.

For example, many people love to study the Book of Revelation because it gives them the thrill of a mystey story like Star War or something like that.

I study it because I find in it the diety of Christ portrayed, the heavenly city in which righteousness dwells, and the end of a falling world that every true follower of God looks for.

Satan is a crafty serpent that does not mind that our time be consumed on what we think a good cause, but all of a sudden, our prayer life is neglected.

Thanks for your concern, UntoBabes. It is just a study aid like any other study aid. It is thrilling for me to read the Bible with or without study aids. This is one of the best I have found. But it is just that, a study aid.

"These results demonstrate yet again the overwhelming power of the Bible Wheel. It truly is the Rosetta Stone of Biblical Hermeneutics. It confirms the canonical Books even as it proves (with the same evidence, no less!) that the apocryphal additions must be excluded."

I would rather get excited about the Bible than ESPN Sports or other such nonsense on TV (Terribly Vulgar). Maybe this will help some men see the wonders of the Word.

It definitely can be used to reach Jewish people and already has been.

And what is the central purpose of the Chronicles? The BibleWheel reveals this.
http://www.biblewheel.com/Wheel/Spokes/Nun_2Chronicles.asp

Chronicles is a retelling of the story already told in the books of Samuel and the Kings, but from a different standpoint, with new emphases and new aspects, with significant additions and omissions, and supplying completive interpretations. In fact, it is in this repetition, with its characteristic additions and omissions, that the peculiar viewpoint and significance of the Chronicles are perceived; for if we read these "chronicles" side by side with the earlier accounts in Samuel and Kings, we soon begin to notice that the addition and omissions all seem of the same sort, that is, they all seem to conform to one focal purpose. What, then, is the unifying idea running through theses additions and omissions?

Apocryphal Additions to Esther Refuted
The Meaning of Esther and its Integration with the Bible Wheel

One of the most significant results derived from the Bible Wheel, which profoundly impacts all aspects of canonical studies, is the synergistic mutual confirmation of the content of Holy Scripture with its geometric form and integration with the Hebrew Alphabet.

The integration of the content of Esther with its position on the Bible Wheel is one of the most astounding examples of God's providential supervision over the formation of the Canon.

From His Website: Shows me he reveres the Word of God.

Obviously, the aprocryphal additions are the work of mere humans who felt a need to thrust God into the story in which He Himself had clearly chosen to "hide His face." There are many lessons to be learned here. We must never think to "improve" on the Word of God. Many aspects of its design are hidden from us. If we try to "force-fit" anything to conform to our limited human understanding, we most certainly will distort the Work of God.

Well, just had a great prayer time (thanks UntoBabes) and now I am excited to get back to studying the Word..

Definitely, need to keep a balance, don't we?

I am embarking on a study of Ezra, Haggai and James since they all appear on the 15 spoke of the Biblewheel. I want to see why they do and what they have in common. What could God be speaking through this arrangement?

http://www.biblewheel.com/Wheel/Spokes/Samek_Help.asp

Luther did not like the book of James. His inability to see God's purpose in James was such that he called this great Book 'an epistle of straw'.

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
James 2:14ff (Spoke 15, Cycle 3)

Ezra, Haggai and James all fall on spoke 15 which is the hebrew letter Samek. What do Ezra, Haggai and James all have in common?

The 15th letter of the alphabet is Samek and keywords for Samek are Samak (Support), Sa'ad (Support, Help, Assist, Feed), Sabal (to bear a burden).

The Book of James bears distinctive characteristics that set it apart from all other Books in the New Testament. It is a corrective to potential abuse of the doctrines of Sola Gratia and Sola Fide, that is, that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone. His strong emphasis on the importance of actually doing good works greatly confused Luther who could not reconcile this with Paul's plain teaching that "by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." His inability to see God's purpose in James was such that he called this great Book 'an epistle of straw'.

It seems to me that if James is any kind of straw, it is the straw that should break the back of any camel bearing the load of denied facts testifying to the Divine design of the Bible and its integration with the Hebrew Alphabet. It is here in James, the final Book on Spoke 15, that God reveals the ultimate spiritual significance of Samek in the plainest possible language:

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

James 1:23ff

This is the essence of Samek: support for the Body of Christ, the living Temple of God.
http://www.biblewheel.com/Wheel/Spokes/Samek_Help.asp

Now let's see how Haggai has a part in this.

Lack of Divine Support Due to Sin (HaggaiJames)

Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

Haggai 1:5ff (Spoke 15, Cycle 2)

These passages form an extensive interwoven KeyLink that exemplifies our dependence on Divine support. They both present a sequence of four verbs preceded by a ye followed by the phrase have not or something similar. It is God's desire to give us His full Divine Support in all areas of our lives. Our sin is the only thing stopping us from receiving His abundant Gifts. He has given us His Promise: "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up" (James 4:10). All of this coheres with the fundamental meaning of Samek as the Symbol of Help and Suppport. This is the Divine Perfection of the Holy Word revealed in the Bible Wheel with such simplicity that all the children of God can see it and rejoice.

......Haggai............................James
Ye have sown much...............Ye lust
and bring in little...................ye have not
ye eat...........................ye kill and desire to have
but he have not enough........and cannot obtain
ye drink...........................ye fight and war
but are not filled with......yet ye have not because ye ask
drink..............................not
Ye clothe you..................Ye ask
but there is none warm..........and receive not
and he that earneth wages..because ye ask amis that ye may
to put it into a bag with.......consume it upon your lusts.
holes.

What about Ezra? He appears on the same spoke.

This opening passage of Ezra defines the primary theme of his whole Book. It begins with a royal decree from the Persian king Cyrus commanding full support for the building of the Temple, including the specific supply of five named commodities (silver, gold, goods, beasts, precious things), in addition to all that was freely offered. And as if this were not enough, Cyrus also ordered his treasurer to return the vessels that belonged in the house of the Lord. In every way, Cyrus fulfilled the symbolic meaning of Samek (Support) with respect to the rebuilding of the Temple. Yet his was only the first of three decrees by Gentile kings that God raised up to supply the needs to rebuild His Temple and His city Jerusalem.

I'm with UntoBabes. It's pure speculation at best, especially considering the Bible is technically 69 books (Psalms is a combination of 5 books and Luke and Acts were originally one).
Now since chapter and verse division didn't even come into play until more than 1000 years after the originals...

Also, the Gospel of John is a Christian Midrash (sorry if you're already sick of that word) account on the book of Genesis, (IE the original creation and now the new creation) which is why the similarities are so close. If you study it out you'll find even more similarities though the verse numbers and chapters won't line up. First century Jews would have picked up on this right away.

Don't get me wrong, it's interesting, but hardly anything to put real stock into.

S

Yes, but the point is that you are changing things and Richard did not change anything. He is using what we know as the Bible today. This is what makes it more authentic. If someone came around like you and changed the Bible to make it fit, then there would be all kinds of questions and doubts.

What is the probability of even what Richard McGough did with the Bible as delivered to us today?

This has been on the web for over 10 years and he welcomes reasoned and scientific debate on it, but not changing the Bible, because that is not what he did.

So, what is the probability of all of this? How about 1 followed by 92 zeros?

Oh no, I'm not saying he changed the Bible, bro. I'm just saying even so, I wouldn't be willing to bet the farm on it either. The Bible Code seemed pretty impressive at first too.

I mean, if it got an unbeliever curious about the Bible, and prompted him to read it, I'm sure God can use that any way He pleases.

It's a fascinating thought, of that there's no doubt, but that's where I leave it.

Thanks for posting it though. I had never heard of it before, and even though I'm not on board with it, it still is quite an interesting idea to be certain.

S

I'm not quite sure what "bet the farm" means. I mean I used various study aids and don't "bet the farm" on them. So, I think I know what you mean. Just like I am not completely on board with Strongs Concordance, Vine's Expository Dictionary of Greek Words, etc, etc. Because they are not perfect, either. Only God's Word is perfect.

If I did not have complete confidence in God's Word, then I would be in bad shape.

Psa 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

What I have been trying to say is that it is one of the best if not best study aids that I have found that reveals correlations and associations in the Word of God that you would have a very difficult time at best finding by just reading the Word in a linear fashion.

Looking at it in this multi-dimensional way, just reveals what is already in the Bible. Not extra-biblical, but showing what is already in God's Word.

I love how Song of Solomon, Acts and Revelation all show up on spoke 22, Hebrew Letter Tav.

Song of Solomon - Two Lovers - Speaks of the Bride and Bridegroom

Acts - The birth of the Church, Bride.

Revelation - The Bridegroom coming for the Bride

If you think that is incredible read what the Hebrew letter Tav, means.

I will give you a hint: Tav means "mark, sign, cross".

Hello...

Seems like we should start a separate thread on the Biblewheel.

The word Gilgal which means wheel or rolling has a numerical value of 3+30+3+30 = 66. The bible has 66 books.

Actually, this isn't accurate. The MODERN Bible has 66 books. However, some of those books were separated/divided by later men. For instance, the books of I and II Samuel were originally one single text (and is still a single text in many Jewish copies of Scripture).

Remember, the Bible wasn't even notated by chapters and verses using our widespread method until 1560. In other words, the term "John 3:16" didn't mean anything to believers before 1560. They knew the passages by what was written...and not by any numeric system.

In addition, the 1611 King James Version contained the books of the Apocrypha -- and continued to contain them until between 1769 to 1826. Moreover, there are portions of Scripture that have been considered Scripture by certain sects that are rejected by others. For instance, certain Protestant Bibles (like the NRSV) contain "Psalm 151" -- and it was a part of the Septuagint, Vulgate and found in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

I think that we should be very careful about taking to heart any mathematical codes regarding numeric verses. After all, the Word of God is exceedingly quick and powerful even WITHOUT such things. We don't need a degree in Mathematics or some "wheel" to understand it. All we need is an open heart that longs to know the Lord.

Of course, I understand that this wasn't the case here.

However, I think that there is a danger because some brothers take such things seriously and to a fault. I have met a few people who almost live by their assumptions from various Bible codes (as if some mathematical number system of letters, verses or chapters could predict the future).

If we aren't careful, this can almost be as horrendous and damaging as that silly OMEGA CODE movie produced by TBN about a Bible Code and predicting the return of Christ. We don't need such things...because we ALREADY know that Jesus is coming back at an hour that we know not.

Agreed. I don't have a mathematics degree and still getting blessed by what I am seeing. It's pretty simple, actually. I have an open heart and have been extremely blessed at the scriptures that the Biblewheel (like any other study aid) has revealed. Not new ones. Just the ones that are already there. For instance, I had no idea that Ezra, Haggai and James had so much in common. Is that bad to know about?

Of course, I understand that this wasn't the case here.

I appreciate your kindhearted spirit and understanding where I am coming from. IT'S A STUDY AID about the BIBLE.

However, I think that there is a danger because some brothers take such things seriously and to a fault. I have met a few people who almost live by their assumptions from various Bible codes (as if some mathematical number system of letters, verses or chapters could predict the future).

Agreed. But we cannot be a "Mommy" to everyone. When this thread started someone was trying to be one to us by telling us what we should spend our time in (prayer). Are we not adults governed by the Holy Spirit (supposedly). Are we now going to manage a person's time and what they spend their time on?

If we aren't careful, this can almost be as horrendous and damaging as that silly OMEGA CODE movie produced by TBN about a Bible Code and predicting the return of Christ. We don't need such things...because we ALREADY know that Jesus is coming back at an hour that we know not.

I think OMEGA CODE was silly, too.

Do you agree that we should not tell people what they should use when studying God's Word?

Are we going to isolate brethren now because of what Study Aid they use? I don't isolate anyone because of the Bible version they use? I know people that do. I am KJV Preferred. I won't say I am KJV Only because I don't like the spirit of some of those brethren. I don't attack someone if I hear them reading a different version and I certainly will not isolate anyone because of what bible version they read.

I am definitely not going to attack, isolate or marginalize someone because of a stupid study aid like the Complete Works of Calvin. Not saying that it is stupid, but just saying that it is stupid to isolate someone because of what they read. Strongs, Vines, etc. They are all fallible.

Let's keep things in perspective. I do agree that all study aids of men, must always be kept in perspective, and the Biblewheel is no different.

Does that help?

A great study.

God told Hosea to marry a prostitute! How his heart must have died within him when he received this command! It was just about the greatest humiliation any servant of God could suffer. Remember, Simon the Pharisee judged Jesus as "no prophet" when He merely let a prostitute touch His feet (Luke 7:39). How much greater a dishonor to marry one! So why did God give such a scandalous command? What did He intend for us to see in it? And why did Jesus deliberately associate with prostitutes? What was His point? The answer leads directly to the absolute core of the Gospel, as revealed on the third Book on Spoke 6 when God made Himself "of no reputation" for the salvation of our souls.

Does this sound like the pure gospel of Paul, the apostle?

"With the advent of the Canon Wheel, we now have an overwhelming convergence of distinct, independent, universal, and Biblical symbols representing different aspects of the unity, perfection, and completeness of the Holy Bible.

They synergistically interact to amplify the symbolic meaning each holds individually so that the significance of the whole is immeasurably greater than the sum of its individual parts.

And yet for all this, we have only just begun to discover the wonder revealed by the simple act of "rolling up the Bible like a scroll." ..author of "Bible Wheel"..
Richard McGough

This smacks of "Christian Kabbalahism"..[an oxymoron] if I have ever seen it, or at best, a form of Gnosticism, that feeds you the lie that "Godly" symbollism can lead you into Godly substance.

"For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you."
2 Corinthians 1:11-13 .and.....

2 Corinthians 11:3
"But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.".....Paul.

Hi pilgrim777...

I understand that you are using this as merely a study tool. However, I visited the website that you linked...and the links from it to the www.biblewheel.com website. I have to say that I must find some of the rationale behind this thing somewhat troubling. It seems to reek of mysticism.

Now, I don't have a problem with legitimate study aids to learn the Scriptures. I know that many study Bibles contain tips and guides for memorization of Scripture. For instance, the Thompson Chain Reference suggests that believers learn the 3:16s of Scripture. These are great tips for individuals with poor memorization skills to learn important principles found at those notated locations in the Scriptures.

However, this "Bible Wheel" (at least, as found in these websites) almost assume a supernatural design in their circular study tool that they attribute to the design of God. Of course, it must rely on the naming and the placement of the notation system designed by mere men from the 1500s. It is eerie in its claims and even suggests that the wheel takes people to a "higher dimension."

Of course, you are taking it at surface value as a mere study tool. Personally, I don't know that the BibleWheel would help my study any more than the pure repetition of prayerful study. Concepts are certainly linked together in Scripture -- but not through a purely mathematical perspective. There just aren't any hidden codes or formulas that would "enlighten" individuals to supernaturally understand the Word of God better. After all, it only takes wisdom that comes from knowing the Lord.

I am not saying that everyone should avoid the "Bible Wheel" as a study aid. Nor am I saying that study aids are counterproductive. However, I would strongly urge the brethren to avoid the specific assertions found on that website regarding its inspiration and formulated claims.

In fact, I am concerned that such a thing convolutes the study of God's Word. To learn from God, we simply need to come to Him...and realize that reading the Word of God is akin to listening as we sit at the feet of Jesus.

Hi Chris,

I liked your post. I have a similar concern that some people might feel there is something HIDDEN in the Word of God, through the digits which form numbers which the words sum up to. I would say this is taking it too far.

Simply writing the Hebrew alphabet in a straight line would have produced the same results. Any virtue in laying out the circle, is to counter Greek thought about circles. Because Jesus called Himself the Beginning and the End, (Alpha and Omega), it is necessary that these letters occupy the same place, if they are one in Him.

What struck me when I first found TheBibleWheel, was the links between concepts which work positively, such as that the gematrical values of words - such as Abraham and 'faith' coming to the same number - were not 'hidden' to the first apostles.

They would have been well aware of these number connections. To them, it was part of knowing Hebrew. This then, render's Paul's pre-occupation with Abraham exemplary faith, something which God had already embedded in the reading of the Old Testament for the Hebrews.

It's the Hebrew that interests me. It appears that some Hebrew words translate into whole phrases in English. Reading the Bible in English therefore, totally fails to communicate the economy of words in Hebrew, which would have made memorisation easier in the oral tradition, and, which leaves less room for 'interpretation'.

Like anything - watching a film, playing a board game, going to soccer - even studying Hebrew could become an idol. It is up to us as individuals to let God search our hearts and be responsive to His corrections. As we are regularly reminded on SI, 'knowledge puffs up'.

Hi Chris and Alive-to-God,

I just want to say that I don't have any vested interest in Richard's site (biblewheel.com), and what I have been trying to get (in this thread) is some intelligent, fair-minded discussion about it, pro and con. And so, I thank you for weighing in, in a reasonable way.

Here, Richard explains his Fundamental Principle of Biblical Hermeneutics.
http://www.biblewheel.com/Theology/TheologyIntro.asp

An excerpt.

The primary purpose of prophecy is not to give us the ability to "predict the future" like a fortune-teller, but to build faith and to confirm the Doctrine of the Gospel by proving that God knew history in advance and directed its outcome to accomplish His purpose of redemption, as it is written:

And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. John 14:29

No one could have made this up. That is why it is humbling, not an avenue to being "puffed up".

The more I read and explore what God has done in His Word the more I stand amazed and glorify Him.

I also realize that He really is control of every seemingly minor aspect of life, especially mine.

Richard seems to be a humble guy. I don't know him, so can only go by his words. I find him giving glory to God over and over, throughout his site.

He certainly does not seem condescending or trumpet the fact that he is a Phd. in Quantum Physics. He has his resume posted and that is the only place I have found this reference to his schooling.

I don't see anything wrong with having your resume posted on your own website. I certainly cannot keep up with him mathematically, but that does not mean I cannot appreciate his conclusions about the beautiful perfection of God's Word.

From reading his interactions with others in his forum he seems like a loving brother and I have never read where he seems prideful or is elevating himself above anyone.

Here is his Bible Wheel Challenge
http://www.biblewheel.com/Apologetics/BWChallenge.asp

SermonIndex allows the posting of all kinds of doctrines, belief systems and Christian based philosophies and does not censure anything except mean-spirit comments and I have even seen them let some of those slide.

Someone could easily say, SermonIndex is a snare and a trap with all of the false doctrines that are posted. Do we want to start censuring content? That would be a real bummer, because in a big forum like this with so many brothers and sisters looking at the same things, I think the positive aspect is that our discernment gets better as we discuss.

Best to you all and keep loving God's Word.

Have a great weekend.

It took me awhile however I have read this thread from the start and have made some conclusions

Anything that causes us to search the Word is good so that is a plus for the Bible wheel...... However at the same time if anything causes us to limit our study of any given subject to only a small section of the Bible and not God's Word as a whole that is not only not good but is a transgression of the commandment for us always to live by EVERY word .......... not saying that the BW (Bible wheel) totally limits study to predetermined sections because we always have the option to look elsewhere but it still seemed like a bit of a red flag.

On the other hand it would be interesting to hear other opinions for the "wheel within a wheel" because IMO that phrase does seem to lend some credit for the BW.

But then what about simplicity and revelation from God?

Personally i do not believe that God ever intended for understanding His Word and His Will to be able to be enhanced by using a computer or lining up letters like the Bible code does.

Bible arithmetic does have its place with how numbers coincide with generations and time ........also gementria does agree with how the Bible is written so I would not automatically cross out the BW just because it does not shout out its legitimacy

BTW...... as far as the post on James and works go....... why is that everyone always assumes that works has to do with the works that man can do?

If you change that to works that could only be done by God then you really start seeing a difference between faith with works versus faith with no works.

Hi Lesserlight,

This is causing me to search the Word more. I love their Bible Reading plan. I am kind of exited to read Gen, Isaiah and Romans at the same time.

The only thing that will limit yours or my study of God's Word is you and me.

For me, the Biblewheel is not limiting study at all, but rather expanding and enhancing it like any other really good study aid. Some study aids out there, are just plain, awful scholarship.

I think the Lord knew that one day we would discover the perfect geometric and multi-dimensional design of His Word. God is not linear at all. Ever heard the saying, "the circle of life". And it's so simple when presented the right way. He is Alpha and Omega. He dwells outside of time and space and sees the beginning (Genesis) from the End (Revelation) and everything in between.

There is nothing wrong with looking at the Word in a multi-dimensional way. Afterall, it's still the Word of God.

I think you got the James part wrong. It is talking about works wrought by the Holy Spirit, not man. Faith with Works is dead, meaning that dead faith produces dead works. Real faith produces Godly works..

Lovin your feedback,

Got to go and begin my weekend. Hallelujah!!

Hi Pilgrim,

Richard seems to be a humble guy. I don't know him, so can only go by his words. I find him giving glory to God over and over, throughout his site.
I've noticed that as well. It gives me great joy to see him rejoicing over God's word so very openly.

Psalm 22:22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. (Heb 2:12)

Now, aren't you and LesserLight saying the same thing here?

If you change that to works that could only be done by God then you really start seeing a difference between faith with works versus faith with no works.
I think you got the James part wrong. It is talking about works wrought by the Holy Spirit, not man. Faith with Works is dead, meaning that dead faith produces dead works. Real faith produces Godly works..

L

Hello Alive-to-God

Regarding works it may well be that both Pilgrim and myself are on the same page but only time will tell.

The works that I am referring to can only be done by God who is the Holy Spirit in us. I am not referring to works that could be confused with good works that can be done by either an unbeliever or a believer inclined to help their fellow man.

IMO the many charities from both believers and unbelievers that help the less fortunate point to what I am saying.

However works that can only be done by God such as dramatic healing or raising the dead without the presence of persons trained in the medical field that consequently leave no doubt that these works are signs and wonders from God that cannot be done through unbelievers are the works that I am speaking of......... and I believe that those are the type of works that James is speaking of.

This is essentially what I was saying in the other thread that dissolved into conflict when I said that without the witness of signs and wonders there is no proof of faith with works therefore God is not present.

So in light of that I do agree with Pilgrim that he and myself are not on the same page when it comes to what James was speaking of

Unfortunately it has been so long since those who go by the name of God do the works of God that they are no longer expected to be seen in the church.......... bummer

However at this time to pursue that thought further would be not be in line with the thread topic.

Still I would be happy to converse with you further (as well as Pilgrim) along that line on another thread if you would like to.

Just felt I would add my own opinion on the Bible Wheel.

I came across it a couple of years ago while searching for a deeper understanding of the wheels of the cherubim.

I looked through it, not extensively by any means, but to some degree. And I had to leave it. I came to the conclusion that the Bible Wheel structure is an artificial imposition that does not spring from the Fountain of Truth Himself.

I'm not calling in question the brother who set this up, or anything like that. From what some of you are saying here he seems like a good man.

It's just that I don't think the Word of God can be submitted to, or will submit to, this kind of thing, however ingenious it might seem.

...My take on it.

S

I came to the conclusion that the Bible Wheel structure is an artificial imposition that does not spring from the Fountain of Truth Himself.

It's just that I don't think the Word of God can be submitted to, or will submit to, this kind of thing, however ingenious it might seem.

That is a fair critique and another way to look at things.

Here is yet another way.

The linear assembly of our current Bible structure could also be called an artifical imposition. In fact many people say this and would even like to change the order. So, what you are saying is not new. There are many writings that disagree with how "man" has ordered the Bible.

The Word is the Word whether in linear form or circular multi-dimensional form.

However, it appears from all the facts that if the present linear assembly was changed at all, the Biblewheel would make no sense. Absolutely, no sense. Richard goes on record as saying that the Biblewheel would be useless if the present form of the Bible were changed.

So, that means if the Biblewheel is "ingenious" as you say, then the present linear assembly of the Bible is also ingenious. But who then, is the ingenious one?

Richard never claims credit, but gives all credit and glory to God.

Richard's point is that the Biblewheel proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the present Protestant Canon and God's Word is perfect.

So, I don't see him trying to submit God's Word to anything. What he is doing is viewing it from a different position without ever changing the order of God's Word or 1 letter of God's Word.

God's Word is unbound and will always be unbound. The OT is read by some in Hebrew from right to left and many of us read the OT from left to right. Many of us skip around, or create our own Bible reading programs.

I also have a Chronological Bible which puts all the books in the Bible in Chronological order in which they happened. I will admit, for some reason that I cannot understand, I have never really become accustomed to it.

There is a host of software today that looks at the Bible in many different perspectives. But God's Word is still God's Word, unless of course someone starts to change it. That happens a lot today in all the different Bible Versions.

I have reviewed quite a bit of his site, and just received his book today. I can tell you that he is constantly pointing out the perfection of God's Word. Also, he is validating many doctrines held by the Church for centuries.

He solved the Synoptic problem with the Gospels.
http://biblewheel.com/canon/SynopticSolution.asp

The Bible Wheel confirms why the Apocryphal Additions to Esther are Refuted.
http://biblewheel.com/Canon/AddEsther.asp

The Biblewheel as a whole may be ingenious as you say, but Richard strongly points out over and over that it is not his "geniusness" that did it. Have you read how he came upon the idea?
http://biblewheel.com/wheel/intro.asp

Have you read the odds and statistical analysis on it. No man is this "ingenious". All glory definitely goes to God who has created His own Word in a perfect geometric structure. Why is that so hard for anyone to believe about our God?

Statistical Probability of the Canon Wheel
http://biblewheel.com/canon/probability_of_the_sevenfold_canon.asp

People keep pointing to Richard being the genius behind this and Richard keeps pointing to the Holy Spirit.

When I read through all this, I celebrate the ingeniousness of God. Truly, no man could have done this.

Just like no man could have set out to fulfill over 300 prophecies of the OT about Jesus, Richard could not have made sure the OT and NT Canons were placed in the exact order so that the Biblewheel makes the sense that it does including, can you believe it, the chapter and verse numbers.

Please read this again slowly to see Richard's heart on this.

Perhaps one of the most difficult things for the skeptic to believe is that the hidden hand of God has guided the development of all aspects of the Holy Bible, down to its smallest details. It must be remembered that there are numerous Biblical arguments to support belief in God's intimate (and special) involvement with everything having to do with his Word.

The fact that at least one chapter index was established by God is the necessary implication of Acts 13.33, which refers to Psalm Chapter 2 by number. If any person were to move Psalm 2, the Second Psalm would no longer be the Second Psalm and Scripture would be broken. The significance of this precedent is greatly amplified by noting that the subject matter of the Second Psalm is itself reflective of the ultimate meaning of the Number 2 as found in the Second Person of the Trinity, of whom it speaks with incomparable prophetic clarity.

Skeptics may still argue that the precedent set in Acts 13.33 is a special case that gives no warrant to believe that "every jot and tittle" of the Bible, including the versification added hundreds of years after the Canon was closed, was in any way inspired or designed by God. Most Christian skeptics I have talked with imediately suggest that the chapter structure is arbitrary and therefore meaningless. Of course, such an attitude is at odds with the God of the Bible, who routinely uses apparently arbitrary human actions to accomplish his will. As it is written in Proverbs 16.33:

The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.

Beyond all arguments there remains the great body of evidence presented on this site. Endless debate convinces no one, feeds no soul, and often produces people who are "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." This is not the purpose of God's word, nor this site, both of which are given that:

ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

John 20.31

hi, one thing len ravenhill insisted was that there were 70 books in the bible with the psalms 5 books instead of 1. he said 66 is not a good number anyway...and 70 is a great one. if you think that this is a jump try the wheel.jimp

Hi pilgrim777...

The more I study the links that you provided, the more I am concerned with the supernatural claims about that wheel. While I have said that there is nothing wrong with a "study aid," it seems that this is not what Richard is claiming about the wheel.

It is vitally important to remember that the notation system of the Bible is completely MAN MADE. Those notation and divisions were not found in the Scriptures, but were added many years later by men. Any "wheel" that is based upon that notation system is not based upon anything other than the work of men.

The claims are just...weird. We don't need a man-made wheel and its mathematical formulas to understand the Word of God or distinguish between whether a piece of literature is inspired Scripture or not. It seems so easy to convolute our study of God's Word by this.

After all, the Word of God is quick and powerful -- but easy enough for a child to understand. I don't think that any study aid would work any more than repetitious prayerful reading of the Word of God.

I don't have anything against a study aid. However, I pray that you and others remember that a study aid is just that...an attempt by men to aid in the study of God's Word. Any subtle claim that a complex "study aid" is "divinely inspired" is very, very dangerous.

Like Adisciple, I am keeping my heart open. Am constantly looking to see if he is changing God's Word. I do appreciate his insights and if I choke on a bone I will spit it out or may even need to invite you over for the Heimlich maneuver. I am getting some good chicken out of it. I see some bones. No problem.

I think it is good to be concerned and this brings up a good point and we should be wary about anything we use to study God's Word.

Would to God that we would hold men to this same scrutiny that purport to speak on behalf of God and lead thousands of people.

I am sure this thread will die out and I am glad everyone has kept their head and not lashed out with recriminations. I hate it when I see threads locked and brothers don't have a chance to work things out amongst themselves.

Sure glad we don't have "thread locker" in our home fellowship. ;-)

S
sermonindex

Just so you guys know that I am not "weirding out". Also, I am happy to let this thread die out. Because I don't think any one thing should be "pushed" and "promoted" above God's Word. Here is what I believe.

Does God speak in secret? Do we need Bible Codes?
No, I don't think the scriptures support that.

Isaiah 45:19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

Isaiah 48:16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

John 18:20 Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

Do we need to know Greek and Hebrew to understand God's Word? No. That would mean only those educated in these tools would have knowledge of God. He is no respecter of persons.

Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

1 Timothy 5:21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

The Scriptures say that the mysteries that are referred to in God's Word are the understandings given by the Holy Spirit about the things of God--and there are things that we will only understand when we go to be with our Lord. All mysteries that we need to know are freely given by God to ALL who belong to Him.

1John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received of him stays in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, you shall abide in him.

God did not and will not hide the things we need to know in order to serve Him.

Matthew 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

Mark 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: 12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. [based on the OT prophecy (*1) Isaiah 6:8-10 ]

Lastly and most important. God's Word is given that we might know HIM. That is the sum of it, Knowing Him.

God bless y'all.

The word Gilgal which means wheel or rolling has a numerical value of 3+30+3+30 = 66. The bible has 66 books.
The original King James bible had more than 66 books, it was the Protestants who removed the other books, it doesn't mean that they were right. Even the book of Enoch which Jude quotes from should be apart of the bible.

I am not putting down the bible wheel, I really don't have sufficient information to make such a call, but a friend of mine likes it and she's quite scripturally sound. But I just wanted to comment on the bible as not a complete set, there should be other books with it because it really helps in answering some questions that can't be found in any place accept these missing books.

S
sermonindex

I've been thinking about this again, and want to acknowledge the comments about the number of books in the Bible, and whether, for instance, we should agree with jimp that it ought to be 70, by making Psalms into 5.

So tell me, until the Bible Wheel came into conversation, how many of us posters REALLY, in our heart of hearts, have been harbouring the thought that the whole of Christendom has really been in error for reducing the Bible to only 66 books? Be honest! Who loses sleep over this?

And, if someone asks you 'How many books are in the Bible?', who would give a pedantic answer, or, would you just say '66'?

That aside, the other thought I had was about the numbers Richard presents in the gematrical studies. When I was doing Math last, I had to work in decimal places ALL THE TIME, but all his work reflects that God is 1. Everything is in whole numbers, at an extremely simple level of calculation. There is no mystery here. No complicated formulae. Basically, nothing that I couldn't have grasped at primary school.

For me, the focus is all on the Word, and what more I can learn about what it means, and, how it was understood by those men who received it all those centuries ago.
